Hi Tara, thank you for all the content lately, it’s so appreciated. I have a question — so I read tarot cards, mainly for myself and close friends, but I have been interested in branching out and offering free readings for friends and strangers to practice. I am wondering how you’ve been able to read tarot/predictions without energy attaching to you. I’ve had a few instances where someone’s energy was attached to me for a long time and it made me weary of doing readings. Do you have any advice?

You definitely should start offering readings. That's such a good way to practice and grow your skill. I honestly have never had much problem with energy getting attached to me. There's only been a handful of times where I've had to cleanse my decks and my space multiple times because of someone's energy not wanting to clear out. For me, I do take precautions and try to protect my energy as much as possible though, not because I feel like I get anything attached to me but more so because I just think it's good for you to do. To be honest, I've had more trouble with the negative energy of people I know in real life than I have with anyone I've read for. lol. Here are some things I like to do:

I use some kind of smoke to clear out my space and my own energy. So, I'll use incense (I prefer the sage or palo Santo incense) or dried herb bundles (my local metaphysical shop makes a dragon's blood one that smells so good). So, I'll just light whatever I'm using, get a good stream of smoke going, and I'll use it to cleanse my space. I run it over every deck of cards I'm using, the desk I do readings at, sometimes I'll do the entire room if I feel called to, and I'll run it around my own body as if I'm cleaning my aura.

There are also a few crystals that I always have on the table with me while I'm doing readings. I like to keep a selenite, obsidian, clear quartz (this is mostly to enhance and magnify my abilities), and a smokey quartz. Those are stones that all have protective properties. I also have rings and necklaces made of those same stones that I wear often to protect my energy while I'm just out and about.

I like to have a white and/or black candle lit while doing my readings.

I also have an Evil Eye ring and bracelet that I wear often. I'm not sure if that really does anything but it makes me feel better. lol. This is more so for when I'm around certain people that make me feel on edge.

I always knock on my decks that I'm using three times before each new reading. This is a good and easy way to clear out energy from your decks in between each reading.

That's about all I do to protect and cleanse my energy. I hope that helps! 💛 Love, Tara
