A cabin in the mountains in the middle of a cold, January night. Everyone has gone to bed, except for Isak. Standing outside on his own, he looks up at the stars, waiting for the aurora to light up the sky.

my little skam deep dive the last two nights made me reread the cuddle fic (even though i haven't so much as Looked at my skam fic in at least 6 years) and it's so funny bc like. it's fine. it's not bAD and i'm not cringing rereading it or anything but i also have almost 8 years worth of additional writing experience since i wrote that. so there are So Many points where i'm like, 'ooh ease up on the adjectives and adverbs' or 'ah i'm telling a lot rather than showing here' or where it feels too generic or not as authentic or w/e. and like there are sections where i'm reading and i'm In It and there are points where i can see my style peeking through or where i've used a turn of phrase or description that i still use today.

but it all feels a little wild to me bc until i joined the 911 fandom that was my most popular fic by a mILE. to this day, it's still my most commented fic and the one people engaged with the most on tumblr and bc it was also tropes i loved, i had so much fun writing it. so for so long i firmly believed i would never write anything that good again. that was it. that was my peak. i'd written my magnum opus and nothing else i wrote would ever measure up. and don't get me wrong i'm still v proud of it and so happy it could make other people happy and i'll never get over the reaction at the time but i can also acknowledge. i have in fact written things that are much better than it and i probably would write it a million times better if i were to attempt it now lmao

anyway tl;dr how the fuck is that fic almost eight years old and also writing really is an ever evolving process isn't it

For the prompt X works at a restaurant where Y keeps bringing first dates.

“New day, new guy,” Marthe says while uncorking a bottle of Chablis. ”How many consecutive Fridays?”

“Five.” Even doesn’t take his eyes off the guy. “I can work the floor today. If you prefer the bar?”

“I thought you preferred the bar?” 

“Nah, either is fine,” Even says, accepting the waiter’s notepad and wine from her.

He starts making his rounds around the tables. Chats with a few regulars before walking over to the new regular and his date, engrossed in conversation. 

“Looks cozy here,” Even says, making the guy look up at him. It’s the first time he sees him up close; the Cupid bow of his lip, the parentheses when he smirks confidently.

“It is.”

Would love an evak fic. I have this idea of Even being a paparazzi and Isak is a celebrity and they have this forbidden/secret relationship with complications and softness and pining 😬😬

'Isak! Isak! Over here!'

The shouts, the flashes, all far too familiar now. Isak is at least prepared this time, being on the red carpet means striking an obligatory pose. His jaw line remained stoic. Until he saw that familiar quaff of hair amongst the cameras. His lips quirk at the corners, thinking back to where they were only an hour before.

** One hour earlier **

Isak had ushered away the make up & hair team, he wanted some rare privacy before tonight's event. He was an academic who happened to have a social media presence, this wasn't the lifestyle he expected. But several viral videos, guest lectures, a TED talk and book deal later, he had gained celebrity status.

The door knocked. There was the other, maybe the real reason he'd asked for privacy. He opened the door with a click, Even stood with an arm leaning by the door frame. There were camera bags piled up on his side. Isak flexed his hand into a fist momentarily before pulling Even by his shirt and into the room.

Even quickly caught on, losing his bags and jacket.

'Hello to you too th-' Isak launched a kiss at Even.

'I missed you.' Isak finally replied. His arms hang around Even's giraffe neck, Even's hands fit around Isak's slender waist.

'I missed you too. You're too busy these days.'

'I could say the same about you,' Isak closed the gap between them, forehead leaning on Even's.

'Well you've only got yourself to blame. I've got a reputation for getting the best photos of Isak Valtersen apparently...'

Even teased Isak, his lips ghosting his own. Isak tried to connect them but Even wouldn't let him, enjoying the chase. The roles reversed behind closed doors and it made Even giddy.

'It helps to have something to smile about. I don't see all those other idiots when you're around.'

Even put a hand on his chest, opening the space between them to act offended. Isak rolled his eyes, backing Even into the bed like he'd planned all along.

'How long do we have?' Even asked, using his elbows to prop himself up. Isak studied the smile on his face. A smile he could never be angry with.

'30 minutes. Maybe 35.'

Even pulled Isak on top of him by his tie, Isak realised an involuntary giggle which Even noted to remember for the rest of his days.

'Get ready for your close up then...'

how do you 🫵 keep yourself motivated while working on your pieces?

bonus or alternative question: is there a fandom/pairing/scenario you haven't written yet but have ideas for? or even simply would like to, at some point?

my motivation is usually me (lovingly) swatting at an idea that won't leave me alone like a mosquito buzzing around my head LOL but if i'm not super inspired the satisfaction creating something whole and good (or just getting it the fuck out of my drafts) usually works. i am also blessed with having friends who are always willing to listen to me ramble/react very enthusiastically about the snippets i send them so they are a big part of my motivation as well bc i want to write good things for them (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)

also i need to answer this alternative question too bc this is related to you but I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT WRITING A TIME LOOP FIC!!! i am, admittedly, very intimidated, but it's brewing in my brain....maybe someday it will emerge....

I was supposed to be working on my main fic that I’m working on (Nothing to Fear), but I’ve been reading a lot of SKAM fanfiction and got the idea of a SKAM Evak/Big Sick AU (because I love that movie with all my heart).

I just wrote down the whole plot and some actual story bits. But I need to keep working on NTF.

Why does this happen to me??? Also why do I come up with just sad stuff??????

(I also have the whole plot of another fic that I’ve been meaning to write for months… when am I ever going to get started on the Heartstopper/YoungRoyals/Kingsman crossover that I dreamed up in a covid fever??? That one at least is fun and slightly unhinged.)

Switching gears, we're featuring the second of our collaborations this Bang, our OG/WTFock special crossover story The Cure written by viola_player1 aka @paralleluniversesfan and Anna_Driesen2121 aka @annadriesen2121, with art by monikachaarabi, and beta support from the amazing Avignonscat! A rollercoaster of a ride, with mystery, spies, exotic locations, and cameos from the SKAM multiverse. 

Anna_Driesen2121 & viola_player1 what inspired you: It was more of an organic process this year. We started with wanting four characters that did not know each other being brought together to resolve something. To that we added intrigue, subterfuge, and mystery. And the glue that holds it together is their growing attractions.

MonikaCharaabi what inspired your art: The meeting of EVAK and SOBBE, love, respect and great tenderness of the boys. Support for mental illness. An international crime story, a great mystery. A lot of interesting information about international organizations

Avignonscat what inspired you to beta: I was a beta for last years’s Big Bang.  It was my first bang and it was fun to be involved in the event. It’s interesting to see the writing process and being involved means helping keep the fandom alive.

Isak rushed to reassure him, unable to believe Even could have taken his silence for anything other than the briefest nerves. He kissed his lips tenderly, then with a little more heat. “I want to. With you. I trust you.” I think I’m in love with you.

He cups his hand to shield the flame, but he’s barely lit up, before Isak is reaching into his backpack and throwing him a bag of trailmix.

“Here, much healthier.” He smirks. ”Hippocratic oath, y’know.” 

“Wow, thank you doc.” Even stubs out the cigarette against his track sole, crunches on a mouthful of sweet and salty nuts and passes the bag back to Isak.

“So, is this the trick to how you’ve gotten so fast? Trailmix?” 

“Mhmm.” Isak smiles, throwing a handful into his mouth too. “That, and y’know, not smoking.”

“Touché.”

Hi, I wrote my first evak fic in early 2023, before that I had been an avid reader for years. I know the fandom is a little quiet but there's this hardcore group of writers and readers that seem to have been around since the start and all know (of) each other. I don't know how to word this without sounding envious but it seems to me that group doesn't really read, comment on, give kudos or support new fics outside of their little circle. I want to believe it's a time issue but I have to say it comes across cliquey and a little hurtful. I really hope I am just being an insecure baby but I would be so happy if the established and popular writers would give me feedback and leave comments.

hiya! congratulations on writing and posting! i know it can be a big, scary jump from reading to writing and sharing, so applause for that in the first place.

i'm sorry your contributions to the fandom haven't been received the way you'd like them to be. if i'm included in this group of writers and readers, then, well my reasons for not reading/commenting/supporting are possibly going to be more hurtful than what you're already experiencing! i've whined about it years ago (first here, then here), and unfortunately it all still stands, because i have done absolutely zero work on bettering myself as a human being. i think i've read a handful of fics, mostly because they've been sent to me directly, with someone asking for my thoughts, and i managed to put in the effort to read it and offer a polite response. but there are also a bunch of fics that have been shared with me that i haven't read, even when i've said i would. i'm sorry if you have specifically done this with me in the past, because i have not treated your work, your creativity, with the respect it deserves.

i can't speak for anyone else, on how they choose to spend their time reading or writing, or the relationships they have with other fans. on the one active skam discord i'm in, i think a lot of them know each other from other fandoms, or have different relationships beyond writing/reading skam fic. also, as skam fades, people might only have the bandwidth for enjoying and supporting fanworks from established relationships, the same way you still want to support a favorite author even when you or they have changed genres or whatever.

but in reality i don't know the group where this is happening or why. i agree, it would be nice to receive more readers and commenters in general, and being jealous of the attention other people receive is natural. but i don't know how to change your relationship with that group, or my relationship with reading & supporting.

I may finally finish this series, I've got such an urge. If I can't find the original plan for the last episodes though, I might have to do a rewatch and mix it up. I always felt so bad for leaving it open like that (damn life getting in the way) so hopefully we can finally give Magnus a send off!

Season 5 - Magnus (entry for @skambigbang 2019​)

Magnus Fossbakken is entering his final year of school and everything seems to be cracking, including himself. When the family have to come home early from their holiday because his Mum has another manic episode, Magnus starts a journey to rock bottom. He’s scared, numb, frustrated and he has no idea how to handle it. When poor decisions make things go from bad to worse, Magnus has to learn how to get back up again and talk to the people who care for him.

My fanfiction baby has finally come to life! I’ve been working on the ideas for this for so long when this year’s big bang came along, I knew I had to finally write Magnus his season. You’ll notice little callbacks to previous seasons and maybe an easter egg or too. It’s a personal season, dealing with family, mental health issues like depression and the symptoms to actually look out for in friends and family. I hope you enjoy reading this series as much as I have writing it.

yes!! i watched all versions live, even pre OG s3, and i was very active in the fandoms, i think i started an evak life as we know it au that i never ended up finishing, so i deleted it, but other than that the only ship i ever wrote for was robbe x jens (yes jens, not sander) those fics are still technically up on ao3, but they’re privated at the moment akdjshd
