Diana said she selected the massive blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring because it was the biggest ring on the tray. Based on photographs and film, Diana quickly discovered that the BIGGEST rock is also the most impractical.

My favorite gift from Wills to Kate is her (allegedly) "custom" silver-coloured stainless steel Cartier Ballon Bleu watch which pairs perfectly with Kate's sapphire and diamond engagement ring. Kate was known for grocery shopping in Angelsy wearing only her gold wedding band.

Now we see that Will's has upgraded his bride's finger candy to include a more practical yet beautiful, sapphire & diamond eternity band. Kate's watch perfectly complements William's omega seamaster watch which allegedly could have been a gift from his mother, Princess Dianna. As Catherine said: "[Wills] is a true romantic, there's a real romantic in there."💗

Radagon probably had the biggest “I could never be better than first elden lord” thoughts everyday marika let him swap bodies. Like think abt it. He becomes elden lord, but every one is still. BITCHINg about motherfucking GODFREY. The FIRST ELDEN CHAD. GET IT RADAGON. FIRST ELDEN C H A D. Even Miriel is confused as to how he came abt right? Like yea he was a champion…but the successor to the legend GODFREY? GOD in his name Godfrey? Ehhhhhhhhh you know the ER denizens was shitting tears everytime he walked anywhere. Betting u 100 mil runes ppl were crying abt Godfrey’s exile during his own crowning ceremony

Godfrey is so seductively astonishing in his bearing that he gets passes Radagon can only dream of. Godfrey is tarnished? Dgaf he is top tier. Godfrey grafts? (Serosh) what a madlad. Godfrey wants to genocide so bad he needs a beast to hold him back? That’s what makes him soooo cool. Then comes unkown radagon and all the colosseum fun leaves with Godfrey. And what does Radagon do? What is he cool with? “Magic maths (golden order fudamentalism)” oh. A fucking nerd.

Man becomes concious, right infront of him is a big Godfrey portrait that some dumbass stuck up. Marika probably has wet dreams about Godfrey still. Loud omens (ahem morgott ahem) singing abt Godfrey from the shunning grounds. Serosh symbol everywhere. People don’t remember seconds…they remember firsts. And its quite obvious the lands between still remembers. You have got godrick and his bannermen, well yea makes sense he is his descendant right? Then explain starscourge Radahn having more lions covering his body than red hair cells. Ranni probably hates his guts. Rykard resorts to blasphemy (also probably hates his guts.) Atleast he had malenia and miquella…for a while atleast until Miquella said “your maths aren’t mathing enough” and left him….

So my wife and I had our honeymoon on Crete recently and in the museum of Heraklion we saw her:

What do you mean there was a possible Goddess of nature AND cats AND snakes and no one told me about this before??

So basically the Minoan civilization was one of the first civilisations in Europe and we know very little about them and what we know of them comes largely from the fact they were really talented artists, to the point where they have been hired by the Egyptian Pharos. They had a lot of cults on the Greek island Crete and built big labyrinth like "Palaces" there, which we by now know, probably weren't palaces at all. Most often they are assumed to have been temples, but it is subject of ongoing debate. Unrelated to the snake goddess (probably?) they found a cave on Crete filled with double edged axe heads of varying sizes, probably for religious reasons(?) because some of these sizes don't make sense as weapons or tools.

Why did Greek mythology tumblr not tell me about this?

Anyway I bought myself a tiny figure and a T-Shirt (picture below) of the snake goddess and am planning to become a collector of her merchandise now.

Anyway, I have been reading up on the Minoan culture on wiki and I advise other history or mythology nerds to do the same.

Now that we know Ford owned Beethoven records, there's a part of me that's imagining Stan on his birthday, getting drunk and skeet-shooting his brother's classical music collection. Every time he picks up a record, he takes a swig of cheap whiskey, reads the title, making certain to insult it before hurling the thing into the sky and blasting it to bits.

"Egmont?" Stan slurs, frowning at the wild-haired, stony countenance glaring at him from the cover. "More like egghead."

With a wild, staggering movement, Stan slings the disc, cover and all, into the starry night. It takes him a few tries, the pop-pop of gunfire piercing the veiled, shadowy horizon of trees teetering dangerously from side to side, like one of those rickety pirate ship rides on the Jersey boardwalk. Stan takes another large swig from the bottle, some cheap shit he liberated from behind the bar of the only watering hole in Gravity Falls, wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve as the shotgun in his other hand weaves a shaky figure eight before finding its mark with the satisfying crunch of vinyl.

"FORE!" Stan yells, flinging his arms out to the side with a maniacal cackle. The exaggerated movement overbalances him, Stan wavering on his toes for a suspended moment before crashing to the ground, shotgun and bottle still firm in his grasp, any pain from the sudden impact buried under thick, gauzy layers of fourth-rate booze.

"Ugh, that's gonna leave - it's gonna - " Reality spins on a crooked axis as Stan claws his way to his hands and knees, dirt settling into small crevices under his fingernails, khaki paints splotched in various shades of earth.

Stan lets his head droop, the accumulation of a miserable, muggy summer's eve coalescing like tributaries on tip of his nose, sweat dripping from his face in large globules onto the pile of remaining records. The young, dark-haired Beethoven staring back at him almost looks like he's crying.

"Stupid nerd. Stupid poofy nerd hair. Stupid nerd frown. I bet you wore glasses, too, you arrogant son of a bitch."

The lettering at the top of the record cover is worn, Stan squinting at the dated font superimposed over a dark triangle-shaped hat adorned with three tall feathers.

"Erotica Symphony," Stan incorrectly reads, picking up the record as he struggles to his feet. "That's some real fucking culture, Sixer."

The man on the cover is long dead, his story kept on life support by a small cottage industry of nerds and wealthy elite. This man with the curly brown hair and dour expression who was supposedly a genius but was now nothing more than a distant memory copied onto aging skin and a coded message etched into vinyl grooves.

Twenty-nine years.

Stan gulps down the last of the whiskey with a vicious swallow, hurling the empty bottle towards the Shack where it shatters into a thousand jagged pieces. He stares at scene, effect taking the circuitous route to catch up with cause, Stan swearing under his breath as he realizes he's going to have clean that shit up tomorrow.

"What do you think, Beethoven?" Stan asks the record, exhaustion rushing into the space adrenaline left vacant. "Is it even worth having a tomorrow?"

No answer is forthcoming. Stan takes a few minutes to reload his shotgun, Beethoven's surly countenance his only unwilling conversation partner, the record perched against a tree trunk as if it were a child's doll or a puppet.

"No opinion, then. You just don't care, do you?" Stan swallows over the hard lump in his throat, grip tightening around the shotgun in his hands.

The record has no response.

Stan gives a humorless laugh as he lurches to his feet, taking the record in one hand, holding it up to his face to look it eye-to-eye.

"Well, it's a damn good thing I care enough for the both of us."

With that, Stan launches the record into the air, the summer's midnight symphony a passing, crackling storm of plasticine showers.

Over-analysing Stormcast Eternal character design

So we've gotten a good look at the new AoS starter box, right? No? Well you should, because for even those 40k die-hards among you, there's some absolute gold here.

Now this is coming from someone who's been into Stormcasts conceptually since the first edition, but seeing the "flawed forging" narrative come to fruition is SO SATISFYING!

(Very big, mostly coherent post under the break)

So first off, I'm going to show you the main character models from the 1st and 2nd edition AoS boxes: Vandus Hammerhand and the Lord Arcanum:

So I don't think it's much of a stretch to say these characters are both "Hero Coded"; gleaming gold armour, weapons held aloft and sat atop a fearsome, yet noble looking steed. Hell, paint them entirely grey and they wouldn't look far removed from actual statuary we have in our world.

At this stage in the AoS timeline, the Stormcasts are still these nigh-impervious heroes, champions of Sigmar and civilisation itself, the flaws of their construction being apparent only to their creator himself. There's an underlying tone of something uncanny though, the human looking, but eyeless helmets feel familiar, but a little off...

Ah well, nothing to worry about, here comes 3rd edition, and champion of Sigmar, Yndrasta, along with it!

So that's different. She's certainly brandishing her weapons, but her armour is dull and tarnished compared to the gold of previous editions (this is due to her being of a different stormhost, but the lack of gleaming gold IS of note here). Additionally, not only does she not have a steed, but it's her counterpart in the box set, the Orruk Kruleboss that comes saddled up, almost aping this cliche hero pose we've become used to.

Add onto this how Yndrasta is characterised, not as a proud leader or wielder of magic, but as a hunter prone losing herself in the act of slaughtering her prey and dumping their severed heads in Sigmar's throneroom. And to put a cherry on top, here's how she is depicted in art form, gorgeous, radiant and FUCKING TERRIFYING.

So that leaves us at 4th edition, the Stormcast Eternals who have been killed and reforged so many times as to be nothing but a shadow of what they used to be are being called back into service against the Skaven. And who leads them this time?

Oh.

This is the Lord Vigilant. His weapon is lowered, his armour a dull, battered silver and his steed... oh his steed...

The side by side of this guy and the Lord Arcanum is pretty shocking to me. The mount of the Lord Arcanum is a Gryph Charger, and incorporates elements of horses and birds of prey like hawks and eagles. It reads as noble.

The Lord Vigilant rides a Gryph Stalker. It doesn't rear up like a knight's heraldry come to life, it stalks, hell it looks like it's staring you down through the screen! (Good job photography team, btw!) Like, I really need you to understand when I first looked at that thing, I was drawn straight to it's eyes and I got chills.

The use of colour here also feels like a natural conclusion. The bold colours have faded and worn, the armour's gold plating has been chipped and broken away from years of war, even the Gryph Stalker looks washed out.

Anyway, that's about as much as I can write on this subject without wanting to smack myself for being a pretentious art nerd, but there is a whole (half) box set of interesting model designs I'd be down to analyse if that's what you folks are into?
