In a way, Miquella choosing his half-brother Mohg as a puppet/scapegoat/sacrifice make a lot of sense.

Dude is part of one of the many ostracized group of the land between. Perhaps even THE main ostracized group under Marika's rules (as Omenkillers are seen hunting multiple other communities like the albinauric, which imply the oppression of omen was the inspiration for others)

So almost everyone in the land between already thought Mohg was a cursed being, and wouldn't think twice if Miquella said he was adbucted by a big bad Omen.

And who would defend Mohg? His brother? Morgott is so desperate for the erdtree's approval he would immediately try to cut tie with his "bestial brother". Godfrey? While he's shown caring for Morgott (which you can assume he also cared for Mohg, alto there is no interaction to confirm it), he's also at this point not in the land between, and thus unable to interject in Mohg's favor.

And the fact there are no Omen in the haligtree, in spite of it being supposedly open to all the ones rejected by the erdtree. Which paint Miquella as prejudiced toward the omens.

he probably looked down on omens, and when he learned of his Omen half brothers, considered them the "disposable siblings."

Morgott was "spared" because his usefulness for the erdtree made him not a best target for Miquella. But when he realized he needed scapegoat to abandon the halligtree and move on to his next plan, and then to sacrifice their flesh so he can get his non consenting consort... well why not get rid of the disposable sibling #2... Who's gonna weep for Mohg? Who would defend him?
