Blue and yellow coding of Eddie's arc this half of the season just because I feel like making this post.

As usual, the theory is that Eddie will work his way to his yellow in the same way that Buck worked his way to his blue, his blue being the coming out scene blue. (Overview and links to all the posts I made on that here).

Also please remember that in the search for yellow, yellow means gold/honey/sunlight, orangy/yellow type tones.

First of all, no place like home (I made a detailed post on the episode that you can read here), but all the scenes about Eddie include blue and yellow elements and we got out first sandy yellow color when he was talking to Bobby.

His 2 part confession in confessions is also yellow and blue. How warm the actual confessional is, is also an interesting point when you add in the amount of blue elements in the juice shop.

Something that I keep talking about Buck's arc is that he does not match the background during his discovery, but he matches when it's about Eddie (aka the right choice), so the fact that Eddie already matches is worth noting. That's also true for when he's in the 804 yellow, bathenas apartment is very warm and he matches the background pretty well.

That yellow shirt also happens to be the shirt Eddie is wearing during the 601 dinner which happens to be 1 of 2 explicitly blue and yellow buddie scenes. When I say explicitly I mean that's part of the color of their shirt/jacket because that's usually the focus of an outfit.

The other one is the will reveal.

And we have all the blue and yellow elements during the conversation he has with Brad during wannabes.

Something worth noting here is the way everyone is wearing gloves while cleaning. The hose and rags are usually yellow but the addition of the gloves for the blue is intentional, take buzzkill for example, no gloves while cleaning.

Something I think it's particularly interesting is the way that he works as a divider almost, behind him to the left there is no yellow, just blue, but to the right we have all the yellow equipment and the people behind him with the rags. Also because the shelf of white hose highlights the way that the one behind Brad is supposed to be noticed.

There's also that rope behind him hanging in the dining room that weirdly looks like caution tape. That and the little yellow elements in the fridge.

Honorable mentions include: yellow organic fruit leader.

And the blue and yellow coding of the well callback in 806. I put this down here because technically this call is about Chim's plotline but it is an eddie begins callback that is very blue and yellow, so...

But something else I wanna point out is the way that in my post explaining the Eddie finding his color theory (that post can be found here), I mentioned the way that Chris is red. His crutches are red, his glasses are red, he's in yellow and red when he leaves.

And the scenes tend to have all 3 primary colors, most of the scenes also have a lot of red elements, so if we have Chris as the red, Buck as the blue, and Eddie as the yellow and the red keeps being included in the conversation, it's almost as if they are keeping Chris involved because Eddie can't make the discovery without Chris.

That is interesting with the buddie's parenting crisis maroon.

And the red and blue for parenting as a whole that was solidified once again with madney's pregnancy (meta on that applied to buddie and 710 here).

So if we consider the possibility that they are doing some really elaborate color theory game here to make sure Eddie finds all his colors, they are basically making the Buckley-Diaz family its own little group of primary colors so Eddie can make all of them. And considering that my base statement is that they are trying to show that Eddie can't live his life as a secondary color, especially since a lot of us associate green with Eddie, or earthy tones in general, this is a fun theory to think about.

He can't figure it all out without Christoper, but the addition of the blue means he also can't figure it all out without Buck. So the idea that he's stuck right now because he doesn't have one-third of the equation and if he does move to Texas he would also be missing a piece, but choosing to go get Chris and stay in LA will give him all the elements.

Anyway, this got way longer than I expected when I started typing aoksasaok, as usual, if you read this I love you 💜

For everyone hoping and or expecting there to be something huge in the mid season finale on Thursday and who will feel let down and upset if there's not I wanted to point out some things.

First of all Tim just came back in s7 and it was a shortened season. I know we all had issues with how that season was handled but I also think Tim had a lot to figure out for having just come back to show. He was bringing 911 to a new network had only 10 eps to tell the entire seasons stories in. It was also a rather important season considering it was where they finally had Buck come out and where the pieces were finally being put into motion for Buddie to happen eventually (like in episode 704).

But I also think a lot of stuff Tim wanted to do in s7 he didn't get to and instead carried it over to s8 where he felt he had more time. The majority of 8a was spent closing out storylines that started in s7. What people have to realize is that a lot of this likely would have been the second half of season 7 had that been a full season. Now going into 8b I expect to see more focus put on Eddie's coming out and more movement towards Buddie happening.

None of this means that the mid season finale will necessarily be a huge ep or have a nde or have Eddie come out or Buddie kiss or anything like that. This ep may be pretty similar to the one we saw last week especially because like some have pointed out Tim and the others may have been expecting 809 to be the mid season finale not 808. And besides that 911's mid season finales have rarely been these huge events. Those were usually saved for other eps.

Looking at the way 911 has structured it's seasons in the past it's far more likely that if we're going to get a nde for Buddie or one of them we're going to get it later in the season and not at the mid season. We could get a more surprising moment like we've seen in the past like with Eddie leaving the 118 but like I said before I think it's highly probable that 808 wasn't meant to even be the season finale so a more shocking or surprising moments might not even be until 809 when the show comes back.

I just really think we all need to take a look how the show operates and prepare ourselves so we're not too let down. Also as much as I love coming up with theories and love listening to theories everyone else comes up with I feel like it's become a habit lately in our fandom for some people to get everyone excited and expecting certain things from the show. Then when the show doesn't deliver every single episode people are left feeling angry. This isn't just the fault of the people talking about their theories it's a fandom issue in general I think. I wish our fandom would just be more realistic going into each ep and not so quick to turn on the show if expectations aren't met immediately.

I 100% believe Eddie is going to come out and Buddie is happening. I've been watching the show for years and things have never been as close to Buddie canon as they are now but that doesn't mean it will happen instantly. Everything that's being shown and said (in interviews) is telling us that the show is playing the long game. We have to be patient and wait for them to get there, which I know can be really frustrating, trust me I've been waiting for Buddie's love story to be canon for what feels like forever. I think we will see more movement in Eddie and Buddie's story this season but maybe not this episode coming.

I also think it's important that we show our love for the show and the people who work on it more. I feel like a lot of the stuff I see out of our fandom lately is pretty negative. I'm not saying it's not warranted or that I don't do my own share too (I was talking just the other day on twitter about my issues with Athena's storylines) but I also can't help to think of how Oliver and Ryan and the others must feel. Imagine working really hard on something and then going online to see how the audience feels about it and the predominate reaction is about how awful the episode was. I definitely believe it's possible to love 911 (and any media really) and still be critical of it at times but I also think sometimes our fandom focuses too much on what we're not getting from the show and less on what we are.

We are incredibly lucky to have two amazing actors who put such love and care into playing Buck and Eddie and who have always been supportive of our ship. We're lucky that pretty much everyone involved with 911 (minus maybe KR) seems to be supportive of Buddie happening because trust me that's not common among a lot of other non canon queer ships. We're lucky that Buck has finally come out and that all signs are pointing towards Eddie coming out too. We're lucky that the show is even still on the air because it was seriously on the brink of being canceled before abc picked it up. If it had been not only would we have no chance of Buddie but Buck would never have come out and both men would have ended their run on the show with those lackluster partners. And speaking of lackluster partners we're lucky that Tim got rid of Tommy. I know he could have done it sooner but he also could have kept him around longer. I think some of you need to realize that making Buddie a reality is still a risk for the show and for abc. Having another main come out is still risky but they seem ready to take the risk.

Sorry this post got so long. I just had a lot of thoughts with the new ep coming and seeing everyone already prepared to be upset about it. Let's just go into this ep with limited expectations and be happy we get to go into a hiatus for the first time in a while without b/t being a thing. Here are some eliotrope concept art and character sheets from the Oropo special episode I found from this article which were taken from a 2016 presentation of Dofus 3, a game that would have happened decades after the Dofus game right before Ogrest’s chaos. However, the game completely changed during its production and became Waven instead.

I figured it’d be nice to share them here too since not everyone has access to Twitter or reads numerous online articles.

According to @uelman, the Oma Island visit predates the Wakfu era.

Oropo is present on the Dofus MMO in the years around 640. Although since “One More Gate” (the game about Oropo being stuck in the Eliacube) is set to happen in 710, he was trapped around the time of Ogrest’s chaos. The Siblings would have had to follow his instructions after it happened to cause it.

It also looks like there are some scenes in the work-in-progress footage that could have been actual scenes in the episode.

For example, there is a scene featuring a female eliotrope with an eagle armor, who seems to be encountering a Sadida that looks like Amalia. Additionally, there is a shot of Ripulse opening a portal, with an entity either going in or out of the portal he summoned. And in another, Chibi appeared to be wielding his hammer while enveloped in flames, indicating a possible combo attack with Grougal. These scenes could have been important (excluding Chibi’s lol) but unfortunately, they might have been removed due to budget constraints or creative decisions. It would have been interesting to see these eliotropes have more screen time since these events seemed to have been important to the lore.

I swear if we do manage to get a season 5 with 26 episodes like Tot said, I hope we get to see more flashbacks of Ripulse and the eagle girl. I had initially been expecting them to appear in Season 4, and I was happy for a second since that’s exactly what I wanted, until I realized that Bouillon and Oropo ended up being the ones who took a lot of space inside Yugo’s head. I was disappointed to have only seen them in the back without saying anything.

Let’s hope for that Season 5 ✨

(It just occurred to me that the female eliotrope ended up being the only one between her brothers to not have her name displayed on her character art…This makes me now wonder if Tot even had a name for her at all…Cuz like- Not showing a character’s name in the first episode where they’re introduced is one thing but not having their name in their concept art?? Really???)

genuine question from someone new to the show — did the characters/actresses of buck’s former love interests get the same kinda hate online as tommy/lou is getting? because it seems particularly vitriolic, and i can’t decide if it makes me more sad if it’s normalised or if it’s just par for the course for this fandom.

The one that got it the worst of Taylor Kelly/Megan West. Like Tommy, her character had an antagonistic role in her first appearance. When she showed back up it raised a lot of eyebrows but people were kind of like “oh Buck is getting a friend outside the 118? Weird that it’s Taylor of all people but sure.” It wasn’t until they kissed after Eddie was shot that the hate really picked up. In hindsight it kind of feels like a prologue to what happened with Tommy/Lou, “BT Bones” was a common refrain every episode she was in, and when she continued to show up, the hatred continued to get more amplified. It especially wasn’t taken well by fandom especially that she was very quick to bluntly call out Buck’s flaws in ways that weren’t very tactful (“you are so needy”, “it’s not always about you”) and she also continued to have moments where she was still the ruthless pursuer of truth she was introduced as, the flaw that would eventually sink the relationship as she nearly gets Buck fired after using him as an anonymous source for a scoop. There was a lot of misogyny aimed her way and it’s honestly embarrassing to look back at and realize I wasn’t calling it out the way I should have been, but as for how it compares to what happened to Tommy? I really think it cranked up to 11, especially post 710. Though I’d be happy to know what other old heads remember

Not to be a pedant but the whole firefam does wear visitor badges in 710 when they visit Bobby ¯\_(ツ)_/ I agree in this scene it’s striking, just wanted to be fully accurate

Pedant away, I don't mind, its alaways good to be accurate!

But like I said in my post, I hadn't had the time to go through every hospital scene to check them all - I was just going with the ones I had easy access to at that moment (pretending not to be on tumblr whilst at work!!) so I hadn't actually checked the 710 hospital scenes.

I've had time to check a few more now though (again - not all of them so this is not exhaustive by any means!) and it appears that generally speaking they don't use visitor labels in scenes, there are a few exceptions though - in 213 (chim being stabbed and Maddie killing doug) they all are wearing them, Eddie wears one at the beginning of s2 in Stuck - when visiting Abuela in hospital and like you say 710 for bobby.

Ali Maddie and Carla don't wear them in season 2 after Bucks leg gets crushed. Ana doesn't wear one after the shooting while she's at Eddies bedside, but the she does in Panic - as well as Chris - when Eddie is getting his heart checked out. So based on what I have so far - badges are intentionally used as part of the narrative - Ana is especially interesting - she was welcomed into Eddies life initially - she wasn't a guest - but then she became one and was gone 2 episodes later!

so if they follow that pattern in any way (remembering that 501-3 were the opening disaster for season 5, so the timings are always a little different because its 3 episodes covering a shorter space of time) - Tommy will be gone by 807 at the latest, but more likely in 806!

ok. so in this episode. they were going to have this scene, the scene where tommy says "enjoy it while it lasts" when buck is excited about the medal, the deleted eddie buck chris scene where they look like a little family, the camera panned to eddie, buck and bobby discussing how he's going to see tommy, buck going to see eddie instead. and then all of 710. okay!

and this of course means nothing.

Welcome to Anna wants to write a color meta because she noticed Buck's shirt in 710 was blue.

Okay, so, a while back I was rewatching the tsunami arc, as one does, and I noticed the way that madney has "we want kids someday" conversation while wearing blue and red. That also happens to be the color combo bathena was wearing while Athena says they don't want more kids. That's also the color Buck and Eddie are wearing during the "there's nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you" or the scene where we establish that Chris is Buck's too.

And I just thought to myself, huh, cool thing to add to the arc, and moved with my life, until I noticed the amount of blue and red surrounding henren's "we want more kids" arc because then it becomes a color combo about parenting, which is an interesting combo to have.

But using the rules I usually use, that everything is about every element of the scene, not just the clothes, they actually start establishing that during 218 when they decide on the IVF and it continues to be used through the IVF and into the fostering arc. Like when they are talking to Athena about the changes a new baby will bring in 304, when they get Nia in 311. And it's also an element during the Mara plot in season 7.

There's also the way madney finds out they are pregnant in red and blue.

But there are things like the blue and red elements in 516 when we get May calling Bobby her dad.

Because the thing with the suspenders is that we are usually seeing the yellow part of them, even in other moments during mayday, the yellow bit is a lot more prominent, so they made the choice to put Bobby's like that, so he would have that blue and red on him.

This got me thinking, because while I was making my buddie in every episode set for 303, I realized the way that Christopher's glasses work in a similar way. (Also, how many color theory moments can I use this scene in? Apparently all of them lol) Even the sirens and the way they give Buck a blue phone.

And it's also interesting that Eddie is wearing blue and Buck gives him the glasses, so Buck doesn't have the red anymore, but we have the blue and red from the truck and the background, and then Chris himself becomes the red element and Buck's background is suddenly blue elements. There's also the way Eddie is holding blue gloves throughout the whole scene.

And Chris continues to contribute to the color combo later because his glasses and crutches are red and his shirt has blue in it. His backpack is also blue.

So, a very prominent color combo during the arc that establishes the co-parenting.

But I thought they kept the blue and red aspect during 710 just with Chris' backpack because I thought Buck's shirt was black. But his shirt is blue.

So, yeah, they had Buck there as Eddie's co-parent. We knew that but... colors.
