It's the most wonderful time of the year~~~
Well, the second most wonderful time. 'Cause technically the MOST wonderful time is when the Ithaca saga comes out, but that'll be for the future.
Right now I'm drinking my morning coffee and appreciating the fact that I don't have to stay up late nor have any class that'll interrupt my enjoyment of the listening party.
Just sit back and relax.
I'M GONNA SCREAM WITH THE LIVESTREAM UNTIL MY NEIGHBORS FILE A NOISE COMPLAINT LMAO

Spoilers for Epic: The Vengeance Saga if you haven't heard it yet
Ya'll, I'm losing my mind! Every thing about this was so amazing! I'll share my opinions on each song.
Not Sorry For Loving You: I already knew I liked this song (because I had heard the clips) but I love it so much more now! The sound quality difference between the clips and official song is amazing! I'd give this song a 10/10.
Dangerous: again, I had heard clips of it before, but the beginning and ending of the song adds so much more to it. I love the reference to the 600 men. And the reference to Athena at the end, mwah, chefs kiss. Another 10/10.
Charybdis: loved hearing the storm motif in the song. I don't have many thoughts about this one, though it's pretty good. The ending with Odysseus realizing Poseidon is back was amazing! Overall, I'd give this one a 7 or 8/10.
Get in the Water: it's really cool to finally hear it with Poseidon's official voice. I loved how Poseidon almost seemed like he was willing to quit but then he got crazy and angry again (maybe it's just me, but it almost seemed like someone else forced him to that. I know no one actually did, but that's just the vibes I got from it.) The ending with all of his dead friends killed me! It was so good! I'd give this song 9 or 10/10.
600 Strike: I absolutely loved hearing the references to "Keep Your Friends Close", and "Full Speed Ahead"! I found kind of funny how Odysseus used the wind bag as a jet pack. And the ending! How Odysseus kept repeatedly stabbing Poseidon, and the things he was saying while doing it! AHHHHHH! I'm going insane! And that final line; absolutely EPIC! (pun intended). Definitely a 9 or 10/10.
And those are my thoughts on every song in The Vengeance Saga; thank you for listening to me rant. I'm going to bed now.

The Vengeance Saga was something else.
Calypso- my sweet, delulu, cinnamon roll 😭 I love you so much. But I hate you so much. I will drop kick you, then give you cuddles.
2. DANGEROUS WAS SUCH A BOP. I knew it would be. Also the same “Hermes- thank you!” Thing was just 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 and then the hint of Athena was just 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
3. Ody talking to Charybdis has the same vibes as him explaining to the sirens and I don’t know why yet but I love it.
4. I’ve. Been. WAIIITINGGG. For. Get. In. The. Water. HHHHJJJJBSKKJSKIWJS IT DELIVERED. CHILLS. VIBES.
5. Oh. My. Gods. I just- it just- jaw dropped. Everything about the song- I didn’t think I’d like it so much, but it’s my favorite from the saga. Aeolus’s motif playing through the battle while he used the wind bag- the Open Arms jumpscare, (of course), but my god THE ENDING. First- Poseidon calling Ody a monster- chills. Poseidon begging and screaming- chills.
After all you’ve done… how will you sleep at night?
Next to my wife.

(Words in all caps are for emphasis, not shouting, I’m just not sure how to italicize a single word and not the entire paragraph on mobile. None of this is meant to be negative towards the people who have been involved with making Epic)
Im going to be honest, I don’t like the fact that Odysseus has an anime move (Six Hundred Strike) or that with the wind-bag-jetpack he was on the same physical level/plane in the frame as Poseidon
If he used the wind bag just to get back to his raft, I guess fine (still not really a fan but I’ll accept it) but fighting Poseidon while in the air? No. At the end of the day, he is mortal. He is not SUPPOSED to be on the same level as the gods, and having him beat Poseidon would be SO MUCH MORE SATISFYING (in my opinion) if he wasn’t on the same level as him power-wise. I understand the artistic show of them being on the same power level by having them be at the same height in the air, but I don’t think Odysseus SHOULD be on the same level.
He is JUST A MAN. Even Poseidon’s anime-move is called a God Move on screen in the livestream, and even though Odysseus’s didn’t have it written on screen, he still had a God Move, which is Six Hundred Strike.
But he’s NOT a god and I feel like giving him the ability to do whatever Six Hundred Strike was (which came out of nowhere and which he will probably never do again) lessened the power of a GOD being defeated by a MORTAL
And then to have him go back to Penelope and Telemachus and Ithaca and, while he is a monster to the suitors, we know that Just A Man makes a come back in at least part of Would You Fall in Love With Me Again but if he is on the level of a god, not just a very impressive mortal, but ON THE SAME PLANE as a god like he was with the bag-jetpack and Six Hundred Strike, then he is no longer Just a Man. But he isn’t a god and he isn’t meant to be, he is meant to still be just a man
Is it powerful sound wise? Sure! There’s a lot of power behind the voices! Story wise? It feels like undeserved deux ex machina which should be hard for this play where there are literal gods showing up and helping him out or otherwise interacting with him and that’s been an established thing from the first song. There’s a reason Odysseus didn’t fight Poseidon head on in the original, and from a story-telling standpoint, it’s likely because it’s wicked hard to do without making Odysseus more than human, more than just a man

For a brief second, I genuinely thought that Odysseus was going to "there are other ways of persuasion" out of Poseidon's grasp due to my ass thinking I heard the starting instrumentals of there are other ways in Get in the water
