This is your brand? This man who is being a good fucking human and making a difference in the world? Who is trying to make sure children of colour get the opportunities he never got himself? God forbid Lewis does something outside of F1.
But also saying “Is he a Formula 1 driver or not?” is wild. He is the face of f1. He has equaled the record for wdc, he has the most wins and podiums. He holds the record of scoring the most points in his rookie season, a P2 with 1 point difference. He works so hard to be the driver he is. He is involved with his mechanics and engineers to understand the car better. He literally carries a little notebook with him to jot down information. You cannot say if he is a f1 driver or not when he has broken so many records and is considered the G.O.A.T by many.

It should be illegal for an employer to force you to stand during your job. I'll just fucking say it. There should be NO allowances for "company policy" on this. If a worker can successfully do their job SITTING DOWN there is NO reason to force them to stand.

I keep seeing people respond to the Microsoft Recall bullshit with there's an ability to disable it and that misses the point. Several points in fact.
It's only a matter of time until an update bugs/"bugs" it and re-enables it without warning so people who had previously disabled it think they're in the clear until their info is leaked or they get a warning they're low on storage space.
If people don't have admin rights, they may not be able to disable it. Laptops given by work or school lock down what people can do with them, some going as far as dictating which browser one has to use on them. Even if you don't need admin rights to disable Recall, you may not have the ability to do so without losing the laptop and/or job and/or education.
I'm unsure of how it would handle multiple accounts but if it can be locked by someone else to always be enabled, children and people in abusive situations would also be unable to disable it. Even if it can't be locked, disabling it could result in punishment from a parent or the abuser.
Is it really disabled or is it "disabled" in that what the user sees is it being disabled while it's still collecting information and/or sending information to Microsoft in the background?
Such a feature should never have been automatically enabled in the first place. It's bad, predatory design to have such a feature enabled from the start and to expect users AKA customers to go out of their way to look up and then opt-out of something.
If disabling it really disables it, it can still result in stress and concern that it's not. The vast majority of people do not have the skills or knowledge to look into the OS guts to give themselves peace of mind that it really truly is disabled.
I'm sure I'm missing some, too.
TLDR is disabling is a bandaid someone else may rip off for you, someone may hurt you if you use, it may not work at all except as a placebo, and should have never been needed in the first place.

Did you find your shop employee or not yet?
Hired one yesterday! She was the first to send an application she wrote her very self that wasn't basically just referring to messages I'd received from her mother.

I’m sure tumblr’s love island us audience is quite small, but I need people on here to know about this one contestant.
Rob is a love island contestant whose job is, in his own words, “catching snakes.” He has not elaborated and no one has asked him to. I’ve tried to get details, but to no avail. He also catches snakes for fun and has a snake tattoo. His entire instagram is pictures and videos of him catching snakes and other jungle creatures.
He asked one of the women if she would come to Brazil with him while he was there to catch snakes. It’s unclear if this was a work trip or a vacation, but that means it is possible that he’s paid to travel for work to catch snakes. Earlier on in the show the woman in question had been freaked out by a small frog on the couch, and she brought this up when he asked her to go on adventures with him in Brazil, to which he replied “But isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that exhilarating?”
Anyway I think tumblr would love him. His name is Rob Rausch.

its a little bit weird to me that apps are these high-operating-costs things because it seems to me like the ideal business model (putting on our capitalist goggles for a bit) for a some apps is "yeah, we built this complicated thing (in this case, the uber infrastructure for managing a bunch of contractors and sending them on fetchquests) and then transitioned to maintenance mode, we have 3 engineers who fix bugs, one marketing guy who sends out push notifications, and pay $10,000 a month on server space, and we don't have an office, so our operating costs are basically nothing, we just make $1.50 on every transaction that goes through our system, which is all of them."
and in that case if the price to operate goes up or the volume of transactions goes down, you kinda... don't care, because you've got no fucking expenses, you can sit there and extract rent basically forever from everybody that uses your market.
idk like in some respects it just turns out that apps need a lot of maintenance and that costs money, and in some respects you want to fight to keep competitors out of the market and that demands paying a bunch of computer idiots to do fuckall, but idk

Wow your boss sucks. Is that even legal? Like, aren't your responsibilities/opportunities listed when you're hired and limited by that? I know it's probably a "how it should be" vs "how it really is" but I just want your boss to bite dust with this behaviour
"Is that even legal" *channels the limited law classes Ive had* They are listed yes! But there is also a very convenient little sentence at the end of that list, which goes like "this list isn’t exhaustive" :) "it may evolve based on the company's needs and on the improvement of [name]'s skills" :) Indeed it is "what the law says" vs "what you'll be willing to put up with to keep the job".
I don't want her to bite the dust, in perspective this isnt so bad, but it's being backed into a corner that irks me/rubs me the wrong way. Also pretending everything was fine for three months and suddenly this??
It's also kinda funny that they (the whole company) dare to pull that shit when I know, and they know, that they're having a hard time recruiting. Hell, they know I'm reliable/do the job well, and according to my coworkers, that's not something that's easy to come by here, even if it sounds like the bare minimum.
