not to wade into discourse about shows online which I swore to stop doing but I think some of you need to recognize that not every piece of media is about you, and that focusing only on the themes that you personally identify with while erasing the ones you don't is Not Great
#some of you only know how to analyze things through a VERY specific queer lens that matches your own personal experiences and it shows#and I just think there is a lot more to enjoying narratives about having a complex relationship to gender in a very specific historical era#than arguing about what specific pronouns and labels they would use in 2023#and that white queer people reducing stories that are about a character's struggle with being multiracial#to *only* the queer elements that we identify with is. not great???#you can't separate these things you can't just ignore them#I'm obviously not equipped to do in-depth *commentary* on that aspect of mizu's character because I am in fact a white queer#that is for other people to speak about and I'm enjoying reading their takes on it#but like. you need to engage with media that is not about you. you need to assign artistic merit beyond what you personally identify with.#you can find things that resonate with you in them but you should not make the whole thing about you

The BWCat and the Cocker Spaniel are /the/ faces of Webkinz!#They're on the tags! On the site! Show up in a lot of promotional material/in-game items/advertisements/etc! They had to be the first two!#And also it's just good practice for implementing a multi-pet system generally#It's all well and good if Diamond works Perfectly but if as soon as you add in a second element everything goes wrong what's the point#So he's here early in development ♪ Very important that they grow together! And also they're best friends you wouldn't separate them right#It's actually pretty fun to start to think about what I'd name the other OG8! Since I've only ever had Diamond she's so solidified to me#I'm biased towards the BWCat but the Cocker Spaniel is quite cute too! When I can actually draw him correctly lol#I haven't talked much about the pet adoption aspect yet - Diamond and Rocky are just the names I use but! The point is to pick your own!#I mean I still don't have names decided for the rest of them - Rocky just Happened and I've settled happily into it haha#I'd love to have a custom pronouns system too - I've seen it! I'm kinda refreshing my "primals with a different element than what they represent" to better fit a more "opposite" type of theme. So i'm actually going in beforehand and finding elements that are paired better as opposites. However, that kind of leaves Arcane out, lore-wise. The arcanist never had any sort of "opposing" deity... but he did have something you'd consider an opposing force.
So, my arcane rep is now themed after the Shade <3 Meet Tywyll.

I spent 9 hours on an attack and the owner of the character loved it, but only when he reffered to his character as „he” did I realise i might’ve accidentally genderbent him 😭😭😭 i thought he was a muscular woman
I’ll wait for artist’s response but i’m willing to reupload the attack (or at least send a DM) with the correct gender presentation bc the last thing i want is for someone to feel upset over my art (he specifically said he doesn’t want genderbends in his character permissions)
#my posts#rambling#on the character’s page he was reffered to by it/its pronouns; but it was in reference to his abilities#but i read it as in reference to the character; so i misunderstood#I don’t think the artist even noticed the fact i made the character a woman#bc a lot of my characters are gender non-conforming so some of my women just look like men#but i addressed it anyway bc it would be unfair to try to hope that the artist didn’t notice the slip-up#especially when it’s explicitly stated as an issue in character permissions#I should’ve paid more attention or maybe ask next time; tho i like the element of surprise when attacking ppl#but i think the artist’s comfort is more important than surprising them (even if that’s nice)

I remember seeing a post here on Tumblr about how with Wu being part Dragon the ninja that he raised were feral or something like that and now I’m imaging the pervious Elemental Masters having to teach Wu and Garmadon about Human customs and stuff that’s pretty embarrassing &/or common knowledge but confusing to Wu & Garmadon
(Just image them having to explain what a Period is to Garmadon & Wu cause they smelled the girls bleeding but they don’t have any injures so their just so confused cuz I’m pretty sure that they(Garmadon & Wu) being feral(-ish?) don’t know about Human Mating Cycles so now I’m just imagining their faces towards what they(Wu & Garmadon) are implying by their question about the girls & why they smelled them bleeding despite the fact that their not injured during dinner and then when the males finally figured out what their questions were implying ,so know I just keep imagining their expressions being like the gif’s(?) below this text

tbh tho this is EXACTLY what merfolk relationships look like
and they just keep track of this. in their heads. all the time.
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#they dont have gendered pronouns but they do have tone modifiers for every other fucking word depending on their relationship to the other#and their mood. and if theyre referring to multiple people at once or just one person. and often layered on top of each other too.#merfolk have poor vision but they DO inherently think of things in a more ''three dimensional'' way than we do#considering they live underwater and youre operating with another axis just to move around anywhere#which then gets applied to the rest of their everything#ESPECIALLY language because theyre nerds who went hard into the sound focus#their visual art in comparison has simpler elements than ours (but a lot more focus on light/movement)#this is why merfolk have some very unique spellcrafts and theyre notorious for complicated and detailed spellwork#like yes a part of it is the fact that theyre older than the other species and have had more time to work on it#but also they can just DO really unique things compared to other cultures because they emphasize layered detail in this way#this is also why - from the outside - so much of miranda's job looks like parties and balls and attending to the courts#because again. its all about the emphasis on who has what relationship with who and how to operate within that.#legal agreements are multilayered and come with terms and conditions a mile long and you need to have a very careful hand on the pulse#of all of this#even moreso because royal families go even harder with treating the lineage as the individual and the merfolk#as just limbs and organs of this equation#this is why it was so important that miranda be good at manipulation and speaking and just *charismatic*#literally making people do what she wants or needs them to do is just what makes the merkingdom GO and operate#and why she (and the other royals) occupy a space a little like a public performer does as well#and why royals showing personal favor and having close personal relationships is frowned upon as#mixing pleasure and business#since those relationships ARE their business and so much of the underlying politics#if youre showing undue favor to someone because you personally just like them then you aren't judging them based off of actual talent#merfolk complicated! merkingdom complicated!#(the merkingdom is also SUPER fucked up but thats tangential from this tangent)

being Black and bigender is actually so difficult
#the adas speak#you know the turmoil black people have with their hair due to texturism and eurocentrism and such?#yeah imagine also being a boygirl on top of that#how does one pick a protective style when they switch from high femme to getting called sir in the grocery store throughout the week#i want blue hair and pronouns. but i’m hesitant to get the blue hair on account of the pronouns#by blue hair i mean mid-back box braids with a peekaboo blue element#the high femme in me is exciting. the masc in me will want to cut it out multiple times a week#but i want protective styles bc picking it out causes breakage. and i’m not going to be consistent enough with my hair at school#to style it myself. also i’m still learning how and there’s not enough black people there for me to go outside looking crazy#ARGH. the problems#i feel like i come off as super vain and shallow on here bc i’m always talking about outfits#then again i literally liveblogged a psychotic break so i think it balances out right#oh yeah. also happy new year

#like- Jay was the first self insert oc- inserting myself into real life lmao#ofc i keep using these design elements- its what i like- i used them on myself first#get ready for a ramble sorry my parents called to talk about gender stuff earlier so im feeling introspective#between senior year of hs and freshman year of college i basically became a new person- new name new haircut (some) new clothes new pronoun#new glasses frames i havent changed since whereas i used to change them every 1-2 years#its kind of like having trans friends in the later half of hs and getting more online unlocked a character customization option for myself#my mom asked me today if i feel more comfortable presenting like i do now than i did before and I honestly didnt know#i didnt think much about gender or presentation while i was her#i don't think i was “uncomfortable” but I didn't especially liked how i looked i guess#i certainly didn't make self insert ocs that looked like me back then- or really any self insert ocs at all#i had ocs that i would imagine being but they werent really me- they were more separate from myself than my current ones (and all women btw#i wish i had been able to become Jay sooner bc its way more fun#but its ok bc i can be him now#and keep changing and updating the “design” as i go bc it seems so limiting to only be one way forever#my diary
