Spoilers from the end of Watching and Dreaming:

This started off as me trying to figure out where the gang all got their tattoos and turned into a heck of a lot of observations.

Small details here, but showing that Luz got admitted somewhere in the Boiling Isles (complete with a reminder to bring an umbrella). I also appreciate that she graduated with Vee beside her, went to go see an Azura movie, and even had a spot on a convention's Artist Alley. Like, damn! Good for you, Luz!

Zoom in to what we had before. We got a Polly pin in a highly-scored school paper, and a writing scholarship signed by Dana Terrace herself. There's also some pics from the zoo, and a surprise Hooty nabbing something from the hands of the barista from back in "Yesterday's Lie".

Here, an assortment of photos from the show's run and during this epilogue. I love the Lumity one from the "Hi I'm Bi" video, along with King getting to play catch at last and the whole gang going to another Grom. Even Vee got to go!

Anyone's guess whether Camila and Eda got blasted on apple blood, though.

Here, we've got Luz's Flapjack tat, along with her course/major list. I chuckled at the abbreviation of Boiling Isles History.

No thoughts, just Stringbean wearing one of those fruit hats you get for a cat. Also, the Nocedas on a softball team.

Lilith's blueprints for a museum wing for the library. Looks like something she's been wanting for a while, based on the notes. Also, Hooty as the curator is probably the most chaotic thing I've heard.

TATTOOS & SCARS •   LEYLA SELVI

Leyla has a number of faint fine line tattoos littered across her skin. The above images act more as inspiration, but the actual tattoos she has are as follows-

Half of a fairy wing spanning down the length of her back - It wasn’t easy for Leyla, coming to terms with the fact that she was fae and not human. For a while she hated what she was and how it meant that she would never, nor did she ever, belong with the family she was raised with. But, after meeting Dilan and coming to terms with herself, she ended up getting this back piece of half a fairy wing, directly where her own wings span from her back. The tattoo represents how she is just as much fae as she once believed to be human.

The compass and rose tattoo lays across her right thigh - Right after Leyla left home, she had a run-in with their third sister and hunter, Hande, who may have filled her in on the pieces of her past that she was missing, but also made an attempt at her life. Leyla barely managed to escape and, after the confrontation, she was left with a nasty (tw scar) in her leg, which she, years later when she was living on the run with Dilan, got tattoo’d over. The scar still shines visibly through, but she loves it all the same. The arrow being a reminder of what she’s been through with the compass always reminding her that she’ll find her way whatever that may be. 

The dragons sit on her left side. Not on her back like the picture may allude, but along leading up to that of her ribcage and their story is connected to that of the butterflies - see below.

Leyla has another tat that sits just below her right boob, across her ribcage - Unlike the reference photo that says “fortitude”, hers says the words “Yalnız değilsin” meaning “You are not alone” in Turkish. 

Across Leyla’s sternum, sits a rose tattoo. This tat was more impulsive than the rest. She was backpacking around Europe was caught up in the moment, so she figured what the hell? The rose ties into the piece she has on her thigh and roses can represent courage which she could always use more of. But she’d be lying if she said she didn’t partially get it because she thought it was pretty.

On Leyla’s left ankle sits a book with flowers sprouting out of it- this is the second tattoo she ever received. She always did have her nose stuck in the pages of fiction and even now a part of her can’t help, but dream for a life better than the one she was dealt. Even if the cynic in her knows that it’ll likely never happen. The tattoo being a reminder of who she was before her world came shattering down.

The butterflies are tiny and depicted as broken cascading up her left ankle from where the book sits- the largest of the butterflies being shown as being half made of shattering glass. Each time someone meaningful to her ends up walking out of her life, which is far more prevalent than she’d care to admit, she adds another butterfly so that she’ll never forget the people whom have either pushed her away or left. While the dragons that sit up her left side are for her make-shift crime family. There are three of them as of now- one for @moonglowmagic , one for @lunadefresa and the last one with the crescent moon sitting over her heart representing herself. The dragons are for her now family and the few people who stay. 

Likely not the last is the waves and the moon tattoo that wraps around her right ankle- the moon and the stars came first marking the first tattoo she ever got. The stars represented who she was (her original last name Yildiz meaning just that), while the moon represents who she is now. Leyla was a name she chose for herself when she felt like a no one. A person not worthy of anything, not even a name. She may have stolen it without thinking- borrowing it from one of her favorite characters in some Turkish drama when it came time to introduce herself to Dilan rather than use the name Eda which she felt didn’t truly belong to her anymore- but the name has come to mean so much more. Leyla means the Night and what better way to capture that than with a miniature little moon. Leyla has only recently added on to the tattoo with the waves to symbolize Lunar Cove. The first real place that she has ever considered home.

(Leyla has a few more tw scars, but they are all fairly faint. A light mark across her palm from when she cut herself climbing out a window on one of her and her sister’s many heists, a faint line on her knee where she fell off of a trampoline as a kid etc. but nothing of major significance to herself.)

Listen, obviously the glyph tats fucked up Belos, but I am choosing to believe that is because he didn’t know the light glyph and therefore had an inherently flawed tattoo. If Luz (or let’s be honest, Eda, immediately after thinking of the idea) gets one it would be fine!!!

Well, the ending of Eda’s Requiem was informative, sort of hopeful (for King) and nightmarish for the witches of The Boiling Isles.

- Eda may not be able to cast spells on her own (save for the glyphs that Luz taught her), but it looks like her curse caused a negative effect when combined with bard magic. Questions: can she do the same with other forms of magic or is it limited to Bard magic because she can play an instrument? Or can she let Belos have it by playing different instruments? Does the Bard coven have drums?

- The monster who may/may not be King’s dad looks like he’s living a nomadic life near one of the Titan’s ribs. Now that he’s seen King’s message, how soon will they meet?

- COVEN TATTOOS ARE THE WORST. EDALYN WAS RIGHT! FREE RAINE!!! Emperor Belos will use the tats to suck the magic out of Coven members!!!

so here's my (probably inaccurate) theory/guess on how the coven tattoos, spoilers bellow:

so all of the tats we've seen so far have been in the same place-on the right arm, over the veins. the veins lead directly to the heart and the organ that gives witches their magic is attached to the heart. my guess is that the tattoos use a witch's natural magic bile to syphon their magic/send them to the sunken place or whatever the fuck happened to Raine.

since Hunter doesn't seem to have any natural magic he might be missing that organ and thus can't be controlled by the tattoo. Lilith might be the same since her bile sack thing seems to be broken/unusable. and the emperor has no use for Eda because all of her natural magic is gone

Seeing all the theories of witches being burned by Belos is making that "Get LEARNED at the stake :)" poster in the kids library way more uncomfortable. Like this stuff really starts young....

           If I may briefly digress from the subject (don’t worry, this will segway into answering your ask at the end)…

           Honestly, the reveal that the Coven System is a mere fifty-years old is SUCH a validating revelation for me, because it was something I had always low-key speculated about… That the Coven System is relatively recent and young in the Boiling Isles society and history!

           After all, it’d explain why so many characters are just generally apathetic to Eda being a wanted criminal, even if they don’t do anything to help her against the Emperor’s Guard! It seems that Belos’ rise to power, if I had to guess, was less a complete and total restructuring of society… But more akin to a coup de tat, where he and his followers established their command at the top! And to many Boiling Isles residents, there wasn’t much to bat an eye on… Belos and his army likely didn’t ask for much, they just offered some order here or there!

           Obviously of course, Belos began seeping his control and influence into various other aspects of society, passing certain laws, instituting the Conformatorium… And of course, creating the Coven System! The fact that Bump is able to get away with doing multi-track courses without having to fear direct retribution, just a lack of funding, makes sense in this context because it’s not outright illegal! Belos doesn’t have complete and total power yet, he’s still at the top but there’s wiggle-room for residents.

           The Boiling Isles residents arent’t doing much to resist Belos, but at the same time they don’t care for enforcing his order because he’s just a young(?) upstart to them; At least, amongst the adults! But obviously the younger generation is being indoctrinated, while the older one is likely scrutinized for their memories of a society pre-Belos.

           If Bump’s line about ‘only three hundred years until retirement’ is any indication, then Witches are VERY long-lived… Which only further attributes to the idea of Belos’ authority being a somewhat recent thing that hasn’t totally solidified yet, so while most aren’t against it, they’re not too for it either and it’s how Eda can get away with doing a lot of stuff in broad daylight! Society hasn’t been completely nabbed by Belos’ propaganda, it’s still able to sway in either direction by this point, so it leaves the question what will tip the balance, and in which side’s favor…?

           It also makes me think of The Librarian from Lost in Language as well! Despite his snarky, deadpan, buzz-kill attitude… He’s totally fine with Eda, a wanted criminal, checking out his books! Libraries are known for being places of knowledge and history, so it’s obvious that The Librarian is well-read enough and has access to history texts that make it clear just how much of a liar Belos really is; He isn’t believing in the guy’s propaganda, hence why Eda is safe! The Librarian may not be the nicest dude, but he probably thinks access to education and literature should be available for all, and NOT be restricted…

           I can totally see the Emperor’s Coven trying to pass censure laws on certain history texts, and The Librarian just NOT caring about them; Or, he goes out of his way to hide the relevant books within hidden rooms around the library… Perhaps one of them was converted into Amity’s secret hideout! I also wonder if the ‘Get Learned at the Stake’ poster, which is possibly a reference to Belos burning dissident witches… Is actually satire on behalf of The Librarian, or someone else? Maybe the Emperor’s Coven commissioned someone to make posters for them to encourage learning the history of the Coven System, and the rebellious artist subtly made a jab at Belos’ cruelty, a hidden form of satire so to speak!

           Because when you think about it; The poster is low-key implying that Witches who become learned and educated, get persecuted by the Coven System! It was potentially meant to be a warning by the Emperor’s Coven, and/or it also could’ve been a hidden jab by whoever was commissioned to make these posters. Maybe even outright satire!

           …THAT, or there’s a more insidious implication by the poster, which is meant to be pure Emperor’s Coven propaganda, in that it basically normalizes their executions of dissident witches to the populace at a young and impressionable age! But seeing how those posters are in the library where The Librarian and his disrespect for the law works at, who knows? Maybe he was forced to set them up, maybe they were put up as subtle satire, etc.!

bundan kısa aman önce bir işe ortak oldum. belki uzun zaman sora bi işten geri bildirim alırım diye giriştim bu işe. rızk bu güne kadarda hep dualarımda yer alırdı. bu zamana kadarda namazlarım hep huşu içinde olurdu. ancak bu işten sonra namazlarım aksamaya başladı huşu içinde kılamaz adam gibi dua edemez oldum. ancak iş henüz sosyal hayatıma girmedi yani asıl engel değil. ne yapacağım bilmiyorum. vaktine uysam bile gönlüm darlanıyor bitsede gitsem diyorum. -i

Öncelikle şunu bilelim, şeytan bazen «böyle gafletle namaz kılmaktansa hiç kılmamak daha iyidir» diye vesvese vererek insanı tehlikeden tehlikeye sürükler. Tuzağa düşürür. Dolayısıyla böyle bir düşünce içinde isek iş buraya doğru gidiyorsa bu helâke sebeptir. Düşünmeli ki, hiç kılmamaktansa böyle kılmak daha iyidir. Aradaki fark büyüktür. Namaz kılmayan hep zarardadır. Fakat eksik de olsa namaz kılan kimse, an gelir ilâhî bir lutfa nâil olup Hakk indinde makbûl, huşulu namazlar kılabilir. Ömrümüzde bir kere olsun dünyâdan sıyrılarak böyle bir namaz kılabilirsek, Allâh’a arzetmeye yüzümüz olur. O yüzden bırakmak, yılmak böyle bir şey düşünmeyeceğiz, gafletli de olsa huşusuz da olsa kılacağız…

Şah-ı Nakşibend hazretlerine [kaddesallahu sırrahu] şöyle buyuruyor;

“Bir kimse namazda huzuru nasıl elde edebilir?” diye sorar. Şah-ı Nakşibend [kaddesallahu sırrahu] âlime şu cevabı verir: “Bir kimse yemeğini helâlinden yer, Allah'ın her yerde hâzır ve nâzır olduğunu bilir, abdest alırken ve namaza dururken kendisini yüce Allah’ın huzurunda bilirse, namazda huzuru elde edebilir.”

Helalinden yer, burası önemli, biraz bunun üzerinde durursak, kitaplarda şu ifadeler yazar:

Rızkı helâl yollardan temin etmek ve helâl lokma ile beslenmek, son derece ehemmiyetli bir meseledir. Çünkü helâl lokma, insanlığın mihenk taşıdır. Altının kalitesi mihenk taşı ile test edildiği gibi, insanın kalitesi de helâl lokma ile test edilir. Haram lokma ise, hayatı zehirler, iman nurunu sündürür, kalbi karartır, manen ölmesine sebep olur. Dolayısıyla haram yiyen bir kimse, istese de ibadet edemez, ibadet etse bile zevk alamaz!

Esasında helâl de haram da rızıktır. İkisi de gıdadır. Fakat biri şifadır, biri de zehirdir. Kazancımız haram ise bu haramı terk etmedikçe ne yapılırsa yapılsın kişi ibadet edemez, etse bile ibadetlerinden zevk alamaz. İşiniz de haram bir kazanç söz konusu ise yapacağınız ilk iş bunu terk etmektir….

Kazancım helal ama yine ibadetlerimi huşu içinde tat alarak yapamıyorum diyorsan, bu sefer diğer hususlara bakılır.

Abdurrahman-i Tâhî (kaddesallahu sırrahu] bir sözünde şöyle der:

“Namazda gaflete düşmenin sebebi abdestteki gafletten dolayıdır. Abdestteki gafletin sebebi ise taharetteki gaflettendir. İnsan taharete giderken, ‘Şüphesiz ben (alacağım abdest ile) Rabbim’in huzuruna duracağım. Üzerimde görünen ve görünmeyen pislikleri gidermem gerekir’ diye düşünmelidir. Abdest alırken de, ‘Cismimdeki bedenî ve manevi kirleri temizlemem gerekir’ düşüncesi içerisinde olmalıdır.“ 

Namazın bir gözle izlenebilen fiziki yönü vardır, bir de maneviyatı yükselten ve Huşû’ adını verdiğimiz yönü vardır. Huşû’ yönü eksik olan namaz, böyle şikâyetlere sebep olan namazdır.Namaz Rabbimize en yakın olduğumuz andır. Biz O’nu göremiyorsak da O, bizi gördüğüne göre, namaz ve secdeyi bu şuurla eda etmemiz gerekir. İşin aslı huşû’ içinde namaz kılmaktır. Huşû’, abdest gibi alınabilir, tutulabilir bir nesne değildir. Huşû’ ile namaz kılmaya karar vermekle namaz huşû’ ile kılınmış olmuyor. Huşû’, kalbin eylemlerindendir. Mü’min bir insanın kalbi üzerindeki tasarrufu, kalbe verilen öneri ve talimatlar, kalbin maneviyata etki ettiği diğer alanlar gibi huşûu da etkileyecektir. Her şeyden önce, kalbimizin işgal altında olup olmadığını kontrol etmemiz gerekiyor. Dualarımızda Allah’tan istediğimiz şeyler arasında kalbimizin selameti isteği muhakkak bulunmalıdır. Ürperen kalp, yaşaran göz sahibi olmak büyük nimettir.

Namazın huşû’ içinde kılınabilmesi için:– Namazın ön şartları olan taharet, abdest ve setr-i avret gibi emirlerde titiz olmak gerekir.– Namazın kesinlikle ilk vaktinde kılınmasına çalışılmalıdır.– Cemaatle kılınmayan namazı eksik görmeliyiz.– Farzların öncesi ve sonrasındaki nafileler muhakkak kılınmalıdır.– Namazın sünnetleri ve adabı ihmal edilmemelidir.– Namaz zihni meşgul edecek şeylerin bulunmadığı bir yerde kılınmalıdır. Hatta nakışlı, resimli seccade bile kullanılmamalıdır.– Namazda, tefsiri bilinen yerler okunmalıdır.– Her namazdan sonra, o namazın kabul olması için dua edilmelidir.
