Hi! I think I saw what was the remnants of a comment re: the narrow is the strait line in ur poem and I was wondering if u were willing to explain? I googled it so I know it's a KJV reference but I'm trying to figure out how the narrator is able to voice their complaint with that. Thanks š
the real quote goes something like "strait is the gate and narrow is the path that leads to life and few are those who find it"
in context it refers to the physical and metaphysical difficulty of the virtuous man's road to reunion with God in heaven
the word "strait" has two meanings. the first is an adjective that means cramped, narrow, "without any space left". the second meaning is a noun and it refers to this geographical feature:
the narrator is complaining that THAT is too narrow. in their self-metaphor, they are comparing their own life to a boat being forced through a narrow strait, much like Odysseus between Scylla and Charybdis
