I don’t think people realize how freaked out fanfic readers get when their favorite author(s) doesn’t update their ongoing schedule ON TIME.
And it’s not cause we want the chapter…it’s cause we’re so fucking worried about the Author.
Like— OMG ARE YOU OKAY? YOU’VE BEEN GIVING US THE TRAGIC UPDATES OF YOUR LIFE IN THE NOTES THE PAST 10 CHAPTERS?! WHY STOP? ARE YOU DEAD? DID YOU GET STUCK IN THE WALL LIKE YOUR CAT?? HAVE YOU EATEN?? HAS YOUR BRAIN EXPLODED??
Readers no longer care about the story when they don’t get their usual update. We panic and flag S.O.S as we track down our wayward author who has been both blessed by the universe with a creative mind and cursed all the same with the worst luck.
So any authors who are reading this please understand— when we comment “hey are you okay?” in your comments. No, we are not asking about the chapter.
We are legitimately concerned for your wellbeing. Do not force yourself to shit out a chapter just to appease other ppl when you yourself are not in the mental state to enjoy it or even write it to begin with.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF DAMMIT

I can’t believe it’s September. Time is flying.
Coming off a long week of nights. My first true 80hr work week as a resident. I’m sure it seems like small potatoes to the surgeons out there, but I’m definitely tired. 😅
I went on a cute lunch date with my bf and then we spent the rest of the day in the kitchen. He made homemade pho and I made a lemon olive oil loaf cake. We sipped on orange wine and watched Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix and it was such a perfect day. ❤️

Self-care 🩵💅🏼💛
Self-care doesn't look the same for everyone. Self-care can be different for your needs versus my needs versus someone else's needs. For example, self-care for me means reading about my special interest or hyper-fixation, putting on makeup, and listening to music. Self-care for my mom though is reading her Bible, eating a snack, and taking a walk.
When I look at things about self-care online, I usually think that these things aren't super helpful for me. That is because every person must have their own specific set of self-care needs. How can we do that?
Here are some questions to consider what a good method self-care for you might be:
What makes me feel good about myself or just in general? That is, what are things that I am able to do that will make me feel okay about myself? What are things that I am able to do so that I can feel positive?
What needs do I have that need to be taken care of right now? Do I have to eat something or drink something? Do I have to take a shower or go to the bathroom?
What abilities do I have to take care of myself right now? For example, this applies especially if I am disabled (including mentally ill) in some way. Is just getting out of bed, going to sleep, using extra aids, drinking some water, or something else extra hard but also self-care right now?
You don't need to do a big thing like take a bubble bath, get a mani-pedi, or go out and do anything to self-care. Some small things that are self-care.
Write three things that you are feeling: good, bad, or neutral.
Go to the bathroom.
Take a shower.
Talk to someone about whatever you're thinking.
Brush your teeth.
Eat a small snack.
Take a drink of water.
Self-care doesn't have to be big.
Care for yourself.

Reminder that you are valid, you are loved, and there is always somebody waiting for you. There is always somebody who would miss you.
You deserve to be loved. Even if you think there's nobody to love you, there is.
Relax your shoulders and unclench your jaw. Take a deep breath and get something to eat/drink. You deserve it. You deserve to eat, drink, and relax. You don't need to earn those rights - you have them as a human being already.
If you've been working for a while, take a break. Even just five minutes of staring at the wall to reset your brain is good. Take care of yourself.
