i've been so fucked up for months i haven't been able to go downtown to pick up my work from last spring from my school's textile studio and they always have a cutoff date like if you don't pick up your old work by x date they toss it and they're pretty strict about that unless you arrange with the studio tech beforehand, and the studio tech doesn't like most people she's pretty curt with most students. not rude but just keeps things professional and a bit distant, a very serious person. but i know she grew to like me over the past few years/warmed up to me a lot and we'd chat a lot about different textile things and she would say really kind things to me a lot which felt rare and special, and she let me have special treatment with some of the equipment because she trusted me to use it properly. and i haven't seen her in nearly a year and i expected her to have tossed my work out when i didn't come to pick it up last fall and emailed her to explain why and dropped off the face of the earth, i made my peace with losing that work and accepted it, it is what it is, i will survive, etc.
but she emailed me earlier this week and said she didn't have the heart to toss my work and has kept it safe in her office for me if i'm ever able to come pick it up and if not she's going to keep it as an example piece to show other students when teaching weaving because it's too lovely to get rid of and my heart swelled like 10 times its size bc she didn't have to do that and it meant so much to me that even a year from seeing her last she was still thinking about me and being kind to me. and i emailed her back and picked it up today and saw her and we chatted for a bit and it was so nice. I love her I miss my school's textile studio and weaving in there and talking craft with her... sigh
#ill never able to finish that program because i cant afford tuition anymore & am ineligible for student loans now#so ill never get to weave in that studio or work with her again and i didnt have the heart to tell her its just too sad#but we exchanged personal emails and instagrams so i know we'll keep in touch#being sick at home 95% of the time makes it easy to forget how nice it feels to interact with other people#who see you as like. an independent competent adult they respect as a colleague of sorts... its really really nice

shoutout to people working their dream jobs doing something mundane
#i work in IT and can i be honest. i might complain about my work sometimes but ive never#gone to bed and been like ''man i dont want to go to work tomorrow''#or like. i have had thoughts similar to that but it's always because of something non work related#like rn im excited to go to work and see my co workers tomorrow morning#but also i wish i didnt have work so i could wake up to play monhun#or sometimes i wish i could just sleep in. but i never hate my job#i enjoy going there. i can make a living with it. actually as soon as i graduate i'll be earning pretty well#though most of that will be going to student loans for some years but it's still more than what my parents made combined when i was a kid#pre taxes for both of us. not taking inflation into account.#i know i complain about management and complain at work but i genuinely really like my job#its always been my dream to have a job i dont mind doing. and this is it.#im not saying id feel the same in any it job. but here i get to manage like a billion different systems and device types#and i get to do so much different things and theres always something new and fun going on and i get to be a part of making it happen#and its a very seasonal job so im not doing the same thing all around the year. spring is the busiest but i fucking love spring#both in general and at work#days go by fast bc theyre busy but theyre busy in like ah. how do i say it. in a way i dont have high brain power work#sure i need to know my shit but its easy shit#and then winter is always projects and v much using my brain and less my body#spring and summer some work days are workouts gdvxhdns#also during some weeks in the summer. i can go on a walk anytime and get ice cream or something on the clock#and using the excuse of saying im patroling our systems gdvxhsj#theres a lot to do but the work environment is chill#a lot of IT work is. sure paying way more but also complete hell. not for me.#what im doing rn is like. i would not mind retiring here.#im not surprised lots of ppl do like 40 year careers where i work#sure managements been kinda shit but things are changing rn#and i feel like theyre changing for the better#idk im just v happy rn!#spring is coming and i can feel it#i love spring theres so much new things happening

i try to avoid pretension bc people who are smug about dumb shit make me mad but i do feel good about having no spotify no netflix no disney plus no streaming services other than tvnz on demand (completely free) and arovision (supports the last remaining film library in aotearoa) and the dvds/cds at the public library and when i listen to music its almost always on cds on my discman or albums ive bought off bandcamp. if i have to i listen to music on youtube but my adblocker is good so i never get ads. and i literally never feel like im missing out on anything and i save so much money and the money i do spend is going straight to libraries and individual artists and the occasional opshop. like idk man people seem to be very reliant on slop websites charging them increasingly high fees to feed them more and more ads and i simply do not experience this and i want you to know that its actually very possible for YOU to experience peace serenity and more money in the bank as well. its not even hard. take my hand🖐️ come with me the wonderful world of not giving money to billionaires and never watching another ad again in your life
#and before anyone goes 'oh i cant afford to buy albums/dvds' how much do your streaming services cost?#ok now imagine taking that money and spending it on cds or dvds. library cards are free and will loan digital media to you for like. $2.#if you live in nz and join arovision you only pay for the film you're watching. theres no monthly fee. bandcamp albums are like idk $15-20?#at most?#'oh but i dont have a dvd/cd player' if your compute doesnt already have one then buy an optical drive. bam. instant media player.#theyre usually less than $100 and you can get em cheaper secondhand. my discman was $20.#shaking you all. its easy its easy yes it takes SLIGHTLY more effort at the outset but your life IMPROVES

in boring adult annoyances, i recently converted my checking account to a different type of checking account with the same credit union. i've done this a couple times over the years cuz it's the same checking account my dad helped me set up when i was 13 and this CU is still my primary financial institution. asked the banker
"will my account number remain the same?"
"yes, we're just converting it to a different type of the same account!"
"so my direct deposit and autopays won't be impacted?"
"correct!"
"and i can still use the same debit card i've been using for the last ~6 years!"
"absolutely!"
"great, let's do it."
fast forward to this week, when three of my autopay bills bounced, my debit card isn't working, and a closer look at my account number shows a 1-digit change at the end. go back to the same branch like "hey no offense but what the fuck??"
different banker takes a look at my accounts, makes a Face, and politely casually asks "so where did you go to make the switch? :)"
"here, this branch. that person over there was actually the one who helped me."
The Face intensifies. ".....Ah. I See. well, it looks like the way the changes were made may have Disrupted some things. you're gonna need a new debit card, etc, i'll get that printed for you ASAP."
[5 minutes later the banker who fucked up the first transaction sheepishly approaches me to hand over my new debit card & apologize profusely.]
#SIXTEEN YEARS OF AUTOPAYS & DIRECT DEPOSITS & STATEMENTS & SAVED PAYMENT PROFILES DOWN THE FUUUUUUCKING DRAIN#BC INSTEAD OF JUST SWITCHING THE SUBTYPE OF MY EXISTING ACCOUNT SHE FUCKING CLOSED IT OPENED A NEW ONE & JUST MOVED THE MONEY OVER#LIKE I'VE DONE HER JOB I KNOW HOW EASY IT IS TO MAKE MISTAKES LIKE THAT BUT GOOOOOODDDDDD WHAT A FUCKING PAIN#THIS STUPID ERROR HAS BROKEN. SO MUCH OF MY LIFE IN ONE FELL SWOOP#GIRL I'M NOT GONNA COMPLAIN TO YOUR MANAGER OR ANYTHING BUT I *AM* FANTASIZING ABOUT HUNTING YOU FOR SPORT#between this and a different banker at the same branch taking 2+ weeks to get back to me with a shit tier auto loan quote#the service here has rly gone to piss lately#like thanks but i bought my car last week & financed thru the dealership for 4.3% APR less than you quoted cuz you ghosted me#shit chat#ctxt#charlie vs money

UNDERSTANDING LOANS IN INDIA: TYPES, BENEFITS AND KEY CONSIDERATIIONS

India's dynamic financial landscape offers a wide array of loans catering to diverse needs—from personal aspirations to business expansions. Whether you're planning a dream wedding, pursuing higher education, or starting a new business, the Indian loan market provides tailored solutions to meet your requirements. Here, we delve into the various types of loans available in India, their benefits, and the factors to consider before borrowing.
Types of Loans in India
1. Personal Loans: Personal loans are a type of unsecured loan, which means borrowers do not need to provide any collateral to secure the loan. They can be used for any purpose—medical emergencies, travel, home renovations, or debt consolidation. With minimal documentation and quick disbursals, personal loans are among the most popular financial products in India.
2. Home Loans: Home loans are tailored to assist individuals in purchasing or building their dream home. These loans usually come with longer tenures and lower interest rates compared to personal loans. Home loan borrowers can also benefit from tax deductions under the Income Tax Act.
3. Business Loans: Business loans cater to entrepreneurs and enterprises looking to expand their operations, purchase equipment, or manage working capital. These loans can be secured or unsecured, depending on the lender's requirements and the borrower's financial profile.
4. Vehicle Loans: Vehicle loans help individuals purchase cars, bikes, or commercial vehicles. These are secured loans where the purchased vehicle acts as collateral until the loan is repaid in full.
5. Gold Loans: Gold loans are a form of secured borrowing in which individuals use their gold ornaments as collateral to obtain funds. They offer quick disbursal and lower interest rates compared to unsecured loans.
Benefits of Taking a Loan
1.Financial Flexibility: Loans provide immediate access to funds, enabling individuals and businesses to meet urgent financial needs without depleting their savings.
2. Tax Benefits: Certain loans, like home and education loans, come with tax benefits, making them financially advantageous.
3. Credit Score Improvement: Timely repayment of loans can enhance your credit score, improving your eligibility for future borrowings.
4. Customizable Options: Indian financial institutions offer loans with flexible repayment tenures, EMI options, and interest rate structures, catering to varied borrower needs.
Key Considerations Before Taking a Loan
Interest Rates: Compare interest rates from multiple lenders to ensure you get the most competitive deal.
1.Processing Fees and Hidden Charges: Always inquire about processing fees, prepayment penalties, and other hidden charges to avoid surprises.
2. Loan Tenure: Choose a tenure that balances affordability with overall interest outflow. Longer tenures may lower EMIs but increase total interest paid.
3. Eligibility Criteria: Understand the lender's eligibility requirements, including income, credit score, and employment stability.
4. Purpose of the Loan: Clearly define your borrowing purpose to select the most suitable loan type.
Conclusion India's loan market offers a plethora of options to meet the varied financial needs of its population. However, responsible borrowing is essential. Assess your repayment capacity, compare lenders, and read the fine print before signing any loan agreement. Whether it's a personal milestone or a professional ambition, the right loan can act as a stepping stone to achieving your goals.

One of my biggest pet peeves online is people on Tik Tok or Instagram posting shit like "sigh, wish I could follow my dreams and be happy but I have to work a job I hate" like no you really don't.
I've seen hundreds of people wishing they could go study anthropology or art or become an actor or musician but won't because of money or fear they won't make it, which at first made me sad but now it's just kinda pissing me off.
Okay, then do it? Go apply for schools and financial aid and scholarships, go to your local open mic night or audition for community theater. I'm not saying quit your day job by any means, but what good is complaining on the Internet in a video set over Piano Man doing you?
If you don't at least try, how're you gonna know you'll fail?
#not sure what to tag this#I'm just sick of this phenomenon where gen z complains about having shitty lives#like guys the world is already on fire and I'm not sure how much longer we have left#so you might as well sorta enjoy yourself#like sure it's gonna be hard no doubt but nothing worth doing is easy#and that's cheesey but true#i for one have just accepted I'll be in student loan debt for the rest of my life#but if that means i have the chance to do something i love then fuck it#this new year please do things for yourself not for others

Personal Loan Eligibility for Housemaids, Drivers, and Daily Wage Earners
Introduction
A personal loan can be a lifesaver in times of financial need, offering quick access to funds without requiring collateral. However, individuals working as housemaids, drivers, and daily wage earners often struggle to secure loans due to irregular income and lack of formal employment records. While traditional banks may impose strict eligibility criteria, alternative lending options have made it possible for low-income workers to obtain financial assistance.
This article explores the eligibility criteria, challenges, and solutions for housemaids, drivers, and daily wage earners looking for a personal loan.
Challenges Faced by Low-Income Workers in Getting a Personal Loan
1. Lack of a Stable Income
Most banks and financial institutions require proof of a steady income to approve a personal loan. However, housemaids, drivers, and daily wage workers often earn on a cash basis, making it difficult to provide consistent salary slips or bank statements.
2. No Credit History
A credit score plays a crucial role in loan approval. Many low-income workers do not have a credit history because they have never taken a loan or used a credit card, which makes lenders hesitant to approve their applications.
3. Absence of Income Proof and Documentation
Financial institutions usually require documents such as salary slips, income tax returns (ITR), or Form 16 to verify income. Daily wage earners and domestic helpers often do not have these documents, making it harder to qualify for a personal loan.
4. High-Interest Rates
Even if some lenders provide personal loans to low-income workers, they often charge higher interest rates due to the perceived risk of non-repayment. This can increase the overall burden on borrowers.
How Housemaids, Drivers, and Daily Wage Earners Can Qualify for a Personal Loan
Despite these challenges, there are several ways for housemaids, drivers, and daily wage earners to improve their chances of securing a personal loan.
1. Apply for a Loan Through Microfinance Institutions
Microfinance institutions cater to low-income individuals who do not qualify for traditional bank loans. They offer smaller loan amounts with flexible repayment options, making it easier for daily wage earners to access credit.
2. Consider NBFCs and Fintech Lenders
Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and fintech lenders provide personal loans with relaxed eligibility criteria. These lenders may consider alternate income proof such as utility bills, rent receipts, or employer verification letters.
3. Maintain a Bank Account
A bank account with regular transactions can help in proving financial stability. Even if a housemaid or driver is paid in cash, they should deposit their earnings in a bank account regularly to create an income trail.
4. Use Alternative Income Proof
Many lenders now accept alternative income documents such as:
Employer verification letters
Income certificate issued by local authorities
Bank statements showing consistent cash deposits
Utility bills in the borrower's name
5. Build a Credit Score
Opening a savings account, fixed deposit, or taking a small loan can help in building a credit score. Using a prepaid credit card or repaying small loans on time can also enhance creditworthiness.
6. Apply for a Joint Loan or Get a Guarantor
Some lenders allow joint loan applications, where a borrower with a higher credit score or stable income can co-sign the loan. Alternatively, having a guarantor with a good financial background can improve loan approval chances.
Best Personal Loan Options for Low-Income Workers
1. Government-Backed Loan Schemes
Some governments run special financial assistance programs for low-income individuals. Housemaids, drivers, and daily wage earners can check for government-backed microloan schemes with lower interest rates and flexible repayment terms.
2. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Cooperative Banks
Many self-help groups and cooperative banks provide small loans to workers in unorganized sectors. These loans typically come with lower interest rates and flexible repayment options.
3. Gold Loans or Secured Loans
For those who own gold or valuable assets, a gold loan can be a good option. Gold loans require minimal documentation and provide instant cash at a lower interest rate.
4. Salary Advance Loans
Some employers offer salary advance loans to their domestic workers and drivers. These loans are deducted from future wages, making repayment easier.
Documents Required for Personal Loan Approval
Though formal documents may not be required by all lenders, having the following documents can increase the chances of getting approved:
Aadhar Card / PAN Card (Identity proof)
Voter ID / Ration Card (Address proof)
Employer verification letter (Income proof)
Bank statements of the last six months
Utility bills or rental agreement (For additional proof of residence)
Things to Consider Before Applying for a Personal Loan
1. Compare Interest Rates
Check and compare the interest rates offered by different lenders before applying for a loan.
2. Understand the Loan Terms
Read the loan agreement carefully, including repayment tenure, interest rates, and processing fees.
3. Avoid Fraudulent Lenders
Beware of lenders who ask for upfront processing fees or guarantee instant approval without verifying your details.
4. Borrow Only What You Can Repay
Taking a loan beyond your repayment capacity can lead to financial stress. Borrow only what you can comfortably repay.
Conclusion
Getting a personal loan as a housemaid, driver, or daily wage earner may seem challenging, but it is possible with the right approach. By exploring microfinance institutions, NBFCs, and fintech lenders, maintaining a bank account, and using alternative income proof, low-income workers can improve their chances of securing a loan. Always compare loan offers, verify lender credibility, and ensure timely repayments to avoid financial difficulties in the future.
If you're a low-income worker looking for a personal loan, explore the best options tailored to your needs and financial stability.

you know i'm also glad i was able to be a long-term sub for a para at the middle school for the last few weeks of the last school year bc once people's typical college semester ended, getting jobs in the sub management software fucking sucked. all these fuckin college kids popped outta nowhere and crept into every corner and everything was like you had to grab it as soon as possible, which is also just the worst bc like, summer is around the corner and that's 2 months where i don't get to earn that regular income.
and i have an odd resentment for the college kids who sub for that short gap between may and june and i dont know why. is it jealousy? is that a proper word for it? morally i know they are doing NOTHING wrong, and if anything they are doing good bc they're ACTUALLY WORKING!!!! like the sub shortages for the rest of the school year is fucking crazy. the few ppl who actually do show up to sub on a regular basis (AKA old retired teachers and me) get pulled in every which way and frequently don't even get a full half-hour break. i guess i just feel like, it must be nice for that job to be a convenient short-term thing for them. bc it's not, for me.
perhaps i feel some sort of pride in being useful and reliable at my shitty little unglamorous poorly-paid job in a public school district. perhaps i do. where were you college students in the dead of february right before the winter break week and peak flu season? huh? where were you? in your DORMITORIES? i bet. well i was here. in the hall
#spongebob hall monitor voice: IN THE HALL!#tales from diana#i don't know i guess there's also an aspect of: usually i am the youngest adult in the building#and i am not very far from their age group (but rapidly growing out of it hahahahaha 25 cries)#but i don't relate to their situation at all#i have student loans from community college i'm paying and i'm trying tentatively to finish my bachelor's#little by little#idk it's easy for me to feel like typical 4-year college students are unrelatable to me#i resent the normative expectations of higher education so much#i don't like being grouped in w them#ppl i chat w at work year-round are generally pretty familiar w me and know that that's my thing#what even is subbing to you if you do it like 3 weeks a year right before summertime?#do you even feel like that's a job?#or is it as serious to you as like. running a lemonade stand? it's just a quick gig?#nothing against quick gigs in fact i would encourage more ppl to just take up subbing to *try*#bc they could be very helpful to their local community#i got one of my friends who was curious about it to try it very briefly. he decided not to come back LOL#but he tried it! which i have to respect#so why do i hate the college students? oh idk. maybe theyre just ugly buttfaces
