What are the ethnicities you hc for the aphmau characters?
ππππππ πππππππππ πππππππππππ πππ π
πππ ππππππ
π/π: i love this question ty so much for asking me!! itβs so fun to just freeball it since the characters are literal pixels haha. on top of the ethnicities, i also paired my updated face claims i have for them.
(in advance, iβd like to apologize if i give an ethnicity to a character and the face claim i gave doesnβt really match it? i personally have a hard time associating features with ethnicities, and i pulled the pictures from pinterest so it was hard to confirm all of the face model's origins. i tried my best to do the research.)
anyways, i also included some diaries characters in here as well! i tried to group them all in a way that was coherent so i hope it all makes sense!
ππππππππππ
πππππ & ππππππ πππππ: i really canβt see them as being anything other than native american. i just think itβs a perfect match for them
πππππ & πππππππ: native american, obviously like their parents.Β
side note: i did some research and found out that some native american people have short hair and cut it, while others keep it long for tradition and only cut it for grieving purposes. so i think it makes sense to hc them as thisβthough long hair on all of them would be awesome, too. anyways, please educate me if iβm wrong on this!
ππππ: hispanic, though i havenβt decided on specifics
ππππππππ: hispanic, more specifically latina/mexican
ππππππ: just like jess, iβve always viewed her self insert as latina, too.
πππππ: i had trouble deciding for both him and travis, but i think i landed on him being french
ππππππ: we donβt see his mom in mys, but we see her in mcd and she literally just looks like him. so iβll say travis is also mostly french and possible mixed with another ethnicity to account for his nice tan
πππππ: that is a white man. heβs from oβkhasis, so i feel like heβs straight up an englishman.
ππππππ: i see her as a small amount of mediterranean, specifically greek, mixed with scandinavian.Β
πππππππ: garroth takes more after garte, though i think heβd have the bits of green in his eyes and tall nose from his mother.Β
ππππ: zane looks more like his mother, with his dark eyes and pale skin, though he has his fathers eyes and the curse of burning in the sun like a vampire from the english side.
πππππ: he looks the most like zianna, and the unknown biological father seemed to have been european as well based on his skin?
ππππ: scottish (af) (samesies)
πππππππππ: british
πππππππ & πππππ: british and scottish. the whole family is paler than a sheet of paper
side note: i wish we saw more of katelynβs other little brothers :(
ππππππ: undecided, though iβm leaning towards maybe spaniard and croatian? pretty sure the face model i chose for him is part italian, though.
ππππππππ: he was difficult for me to decide on, because i feel like canonically he kind of presents as just a tan white man, but i like to think of him as a mix of northern italian and romanian!
πππππππ: i personally view cadenza as being a little mix of scottish or irish, with her pale skin, ginger hair, and big blue eyes, it just makes the most sense to me.
πππππ: puerto rican mayhapsies?
πππππ & ππππ: iβm not sure why, but i always thought of dante and gene as being mixed with being hispanic and asian ever since i was younger. in my subj3 fic, i more specifically wrote them to be half puerto rican and half korean!
πππππ: russian/eastern european
πππππ: i have a face claim for him, but i havenβt thought of specifics on him yet. iβm leaning towards at least part hispanic, though.
πππππ: iβm not sure, but definitely european.
πππππππ: since hyria is white, i like to think lucinda is half white and mixed with a little greek and a little indian from her father!
ππππ ππππππ: based on her name and her character design being clearly based off of japanese culture, i view her as being fully japanese!
ππππππ πππ πππππππππ: if not clear by her last name, she is so very clearly german to me. both by her last name and her coloring.
πππππ: jamacian
πππ: ukranian
πππππ: mostly indian, and a small bit african
ππππππ: i donβt know, he honestly just exists in my head. if someone could pls let me know what ethnicity the face model i chose for him looks like, that would be great!! ty!
ππππππ: mainly dutch!
πππππ: wasian, iβm so sorry but i havenβt put much thought into specifics for himΒ
πππ: english
ππππ: half english half spaniard
ππππ: surinamese chinese
πππππ: her name is japanese, but she has that pretty tan skin and those green eyes, so iβd say sheβs part japanese, part filipino, and part kazakh! i'm aware her face claim isn't accurate to this, sorry ;^;
πππ: i had a really hard time deciding on him. i feel like heβd also be native american and some puerto rican as well
πππππ: belgian
ππππ: peruvian
πππ: i think heβd be wasian, ΒΎ japanese and ΒΌ irish (ginger)
πππππππ & ππππ: brazilian and egyptian
ππππππ: genuinely i cannot see him as anything other than a nerdy british man so that is what he shall be
πππππππ: very obviously based on her coloring, she is also european of some sort. though, i havenβt decided specifics. it would honestly be so fun if her and kenmur were the stereotypical nerdy british couple though. so cute
πππππ: scottish
πππππ: since her village was in the water, an ethnicity from a northern european country by the water made sense to me. perhaps dutch?
πππ: native american
πππππ, πππππ, & ππππ: scottish and dutch
ππππ: tall and sharper features fit the βelvenβ phenotype, so i think sheβd maybe be estonian?
πππππππ: undecided
πππππ: undecided, though iβm leaning towards just making him british lol
πππππ: half native american half latina
ππππππ ππππππ: undecided
ππππππ(ππππππππ-πππ): half japanese, quarter korean and quarter hispanic.
ππππππ: hispanic, korean, and german, though he looks more like dante than nicole.
ππππ: german
πππππ: french
ππππππ & πππππ: german and french (obvi lol)
πππππ: persian
ππππ: german
ππππ: persian and german... i guess? he got most of his looks from his mom
πππ
π
πππ & ππππ: english/british
ππππππ πππ πππππππ ππππππ & ππππ: undecided. idek man i just put them in here cause they make me giggle lol
ππππ πππππππ: sean

now i wanna know your face claims for all of bh π₯Ί
really exposing my ass over here cause you'll probably recognize them in my art afterwards
For Imogen i use Saffron Vadher. She fits my criteria that the people of marquet look either south asian or middle eastern. What made me pick her is really her mouth and nose, I do tend to make Imogen's face a tad longer than hers tho.
Laudna is more broad, i'll often use eastern european women and just remove all buccal fat lol. Anyone with a larger nose and deeper set eyes fit to me
Orym gets Kit butler, mainly for the way his nose bridge tapers into his brow line, I also like his square head
For Dorian I knew i wanted someone native american or mexican to reflect Robbie's heritage, i often use Booboo Stewart as a base with a bit of Billy Wirth in there
Chetney is another broad one, My main thing is that i wanted him to actually look old. Too many people give him just smile lines and a few forehead wrinkles and call it a day. Don't be scared! Wrinkles are actually very fun to draw once you get started. I mainly use these random busts i found on pinterest
Finally Braius! still working it out but young Peter Steele sort of has what i'm looking for. I like his heavy brow bone and strong chin. His body type sort of fits too

A rant about Jedi Stans from an ex-Jedi fangirl
After some time I've had to reflect on my own behavior as well as my time in the pro Jedi fandom, I decided it's time to call this shit out. Some people take it really personal if someone criticized your favorite characters or their beliefs. Ironically, you all act more like the Sith than the Jedi with how obsessive you can be and insisting any criticism is equal to wanting genocide.
I'm going to start by saying I was in the pro jedi fandom for a few months. Truth be told, I was using it as an outlet for some of my anger issues with my hate towards Anakin, seeing him as similar to a lot of people I've had to deal with. Some of it was wanting more followers and fear of being disliked by the majority. I would pick fights with Anakin fans and was a bit of an asshole and I apologize for that. I still don't like him but no longer HATE him. Seeing how fandoms treat abuse victims who aren't perfect angels like Shinji Ikari or Lapis Lazuli has caused me to loosen up a bit. Many Jedi stans would probably hate those characters for not being βperfectβ victims. In retrospect, this wasn't a good community for me. It was very puritanical and I often felt like I was wrong for enjoying media that went against the beliefs Jedi Stans put on a pedestal. Three of my favorite ships (Madohomu, Reishin and Hodaka x Hina) involve "burning the world for one person" and I felt like I couldn't talk about them without being a hypocrite. That and me agreeing less and less with Luca's beliefs pushed me to leave.
It's fine to enjoy a fictional character and defend them if you feel that they're being unfairly criticized. I've done it myself and have written essays defending my faves. The problem is that Jedi stans don't know when to stop. So many are quick to compare the Jedi to minority religions or marginalized groups as a shield against criticism, not recognizing how insulting that can be. Jewish, asian and aroace people are the ones normally used due to the Jedi beliefs being based off Eastern religions as well as Judaism as well as some aroace people identifying with the Jedi.
One thing I noticed about Jedi stans is their similarities to Jumblr which is full of religious chauvinism reworded to sound progressive. Many of them talk about how the Jedi shouldn't have to change their traditions with the times or to accommodate a few individuals like Anakin or Ahsoka. This can be similar to how a lot of people are quick to defend minority religions from outside criticism based on how they were treated by Christian colonists or missionaries. The problem is that this can veer right into ableist or queerphobic territory. You know who else believe that their religion shouldn't have to change with the times to accommodate people? Conservative Christians who hate being told to be affirming of LGBTQ people. Also, schools and parents/guardians do have a responsibility to accommodate kids with disabilities, mental health issues or trauma, even if it may be inconvenient or force you to bend the rules. Claiming they need to just suck it up is honestly disgusting.
This was all a big reason for why I left this garbage pit of a fandom. While there are some who hate the Jedi because they stan the empire or think people need 50s nuclear families to live fulfilling lives, not everyone does that. Believe it or not, some people have faced abuse and bigotry under Judaism and Buddhism. People can also criticize how Lucas presented their beliefs as some Buddhists think he didn't do a good job. Libsoftiktok is a vile transphobe, an Orthodox Jew and her beliefs are said to be fairly common in her community. Many people of color identify with the clones and dislike how even the nicer Jedi treated them. When Obi Wan told Anakin, "It's okay to have romantic feelings, but you must let them pass," that hits different for queer people who have been told similar things from "polite" homophobes. Some queer people do choose celibacy like Side B christians which is fine as long as they don't treat it as a moral failure to want a relationship. There are many neurodivergent people who don't like the Jedi beliefs as they hit close to home. Lucas may have not intended to come off as ableist but the Jedi did with their beliefs about negative emotions. To some people, platitudes like "just let go" aren't helpful and treating it as bad for not living up to those principles is gross.
I deleted the post, but a while back I made a post asking a popular pro jedi blogger their views on adoption since they claimed Anakin not viewing the Jedi as his "found family" was a moral failure. I found their response to be tone deaf and insulting. I responded in a decent way of course, but felt a bit judged and unhappy for wanting to know my birth mother. Adoptees are another set of people this fandom is insensitive and gross to. The Kenobi series I find insulting for that reason too, having Leia be a foil for Anakin and Obi Wan romanticize his recruitment as a child.
Jedi fans are also shitty to those with religious trauma and who faced abuse. Accusing anyone who criticizes the Jedi of projecting their issues with Christianity while simultaneously talking like conservatives as shown above. Tumblr in general has a weird habit of treating religion as if itβs either conservative evangelicalism, liberal reform Judaism and some vague pagan or eastern spirituality with little nuance. Some Jedi stans really come from a place of privilege. Claiming "they can just leave" is insulting to real religious abuse survivors who were raised with harmful beliefs like creationism or homophobia. I'm no antitheist but treating non christian religion as inherently progressive dismisses a lot of people's experiences.
Let's be real, the writing in this franchise was always a bit sloppy. Lucas's issue was wanting to simultaneously create both a black-and-white morality tale for kids based on the fairy tales and serials he grew up and a deep socio-political commentary about the Vietnam and Iraq wars which required some morally grey themes. Thus, along with his terrible dialogue that made the characters seem unlikable, is why the fandom is so divided over whether he intended people to agree with the prequel Jedi.
To wrap this up, I found the pro jedi fandom to be a terrible experience. It was a mix of faux progressivism mixed with fear of judgement for disagreeing. I ended up editing a post I made, and eventually deleted, comparing Yoda with Garnet from SU because I included a tiny bit of criticism and didn't want to get backlash. As long as itβs not gross or bigoted criticism of your favorite characters isn't the end of the world. People don't have to like George Lucas or his beliefs and put them on a pedestal. I feel like the fandom's worship of George comes in response to OT purists who claimed he "raped their childhoods" but there's fair criticism to be made. Just like how not everyone who criticizes Disney SW or any Disney media in general is an "anti woke" grifter. To the pro jedi fans reading this, here's a suggestion. Just block and ignore people, write an essay if you feel it's important, but don't act like an entitled bully if a blog or even a SW writer disagrees with the Jedi, interprets the story differently or criticizes your favorite characters.

No More Old White Men For President
I think weβve seen the last of old white men as political leaders for this century.Β
Not saying there wonβt be old political leaders.
Not saying there wonβt be white political leaders.
Not saying there wonβt be male political leaders.
Just saying weβre not going to see any combinations of all three (maybe two of three provided the politician is really good at their job).
Good.
As a distinct subset, old white men have never been the majority in this country.Β They wielded their unearned status over women and minorities and younger people to leverage power and control for hundreds of years.
But that was then, this is now.Β A hundredΒ years ago the country was almost ninety percent white; in less than twenty-five years current demographic projections will reduce that to just under fifty percent, making whites the largest minority in a country made up of minorities, but a minority nonetheless.
Good.
Right now, whites are no longer effectively a majority in the U.S.Β Including people of mixed ancestry who identify as white, only seventy-one percent of the country is white.
When persons of mixed ancestry are taken out of the mix, that number today drops to less than sixty-two percent.
The cause of this precipitous drop in the white population?Β
The whitesβ own pernicious βone drop ruleβ that goes all the way back to the earliest colonial era.
As demonstrated by the fabled βlost colonyβ of Roanoke, white English colonists in the new world felt no particular attachment to their home culture across the Atlantic and when treated shabbily by their absentee masters back in merrie olde England were perfectly capable of defecting to one of the local Native American tribes.
Realizing they couldnβt force indentured servants to work like slaves, the landed gentry began importing actual slaves from Africa.Β Unlike the indentured servants who colonized America, the enslaved Africans faced perpetual chattel slavery with their children born into slavery as well.
Small wonder many of them sought escape to the west where they could be adopted and accepted by local tribes.
Add to this various frontiersmen willing to intermarry with Native Americans -- not to mention the countless number of half-white children born into slavery after white slaveowners raped their mothers -- and whites in American -- particularly that entitled white gentry class -- sought to exclude as many people as possible from the body politic by claiming one drop of non-white blood meant that person by legal definition was non-white.
Donβt listen to the malignant MAGA nonsense; identity politics were created by white men for the protection and preservation of white men.
In the beginning, βwhiteβ applied only to those of English or Northern / Western European descent.Β
Jewish people, no matter where they came from, werenβt accepted as βreallyβ white.Β The Irish and Italians were viewed as subhuman thugs.Β A select few French, German, Scandinavian, and some upper crust Spaniards and Slavs were allowed in the white manβs world, but most Eastern Europeans, Middle Easterners, and all Asians were excluded.
β¦that is, until the number of white people in America began declining, then suddenly previous barriers held against the Irish, Italians, and Eastern Europeans dropped in order to reinforce white ranks.
But to this day Latin Americans, African-Americans, Middle Easterners, and Asians are kept outside the old white menβs circle of power.
Oh, a few token representatives are allowed in:Β Fetching females who parrot what the old men want to hear, sociopathic opportunists of all kinds willing to make a buck by selling out others like them, etc.
But by excluding all those tainted by so much as βone dropβ of Native American, African-American, Middle Eastern or Asian heritage, selfish old power hungry white men hoped to concentrate all the benefits of citizenship on themselves alone.
Well, that didnβt last long.Β First African-Americans were freed, then women got to vote, then laws forbidding Asians from being American citizens were struck down, and finally laws against miscegenation were abolished.
The latter meant a lot of people now claimed membership in two subsets of American, the traditional pure white stain [sic!] and something else.
This results in bizarrely arcane rules and regulations, as well as increasingly paradoxical cultural standing.Β A single βfull bloodedβ Native American great-great-grandparent enables one to claim membership in that tribe, a tall kid without a noticeable epicanthic fold can be accepted as white even if one parent is fully Asian.
On the one hand, the true American ideal is liberty and justice for all with every person having a chance to participate in society to the best of their abilities.Β
On the other, thereβs definitely a cultural subset that wants to make sure old white men (and the various subsets of that subset, viz. white women, young white men, etc.) are more equal than others.
But their day is drawing to a close.
Already there are enough old white men who do believe in liberty and justice for all and who vote for young and female and minority candidates to ensure this countryβs coalition of minorities get a say in how things are done.
Donald Trump and MAGA represent that last feverish attempt to hold onto power before old white men no longer find the country deferring to them simply because theyβre old white men.
Oh, there will be old white men involved in politics in years to come.
They will start as young white men who know how to deal and make alliances with all the other subsets in the country.Β A few will be successful enough at their careers to survive long enough to become old white menβ¦
β¦but theyβll never wield the same dominant clout old white men used to have.
I trust we will not have another old white male president for the rest of this century.Β That particular combo is a toxic turd that needs to learn to play will with others.Β We will have old people male and female, of all sorts of different backgrounds serve as president, and weβll probably have a few younger-to-middle aged white men as well, candidates who grew up in the new realpolitik and understand their age and skin tone and assigned genitalia give them no more special consideration than anyone else.

Iβm mostly typing this for myself to help process and organize my thoughts butβ¦ feel free to read if you want, especially if you have been annoyed lately too.
Iβm cutting my ties with Call of Duty as a fan of the games.
Prepare for my unsolicited thoughts under the cut:
This game has always had shady politics and racial discourses. This is known, lol. It has always depicted Arabs, Eastern Europeans, and Latin Americans as caricatures, even if sometimes they sometimes succeeded in portraying their countries as being the victims of European and U.S. imperialism. But in light of the rapid intensification of violence toward Palestinians with the genocide in Gaza, this tendency just leaves a worse taste in my mouth. While the gameplay and plot structure for the new BO game next year will probably be better than MWIII, I have low hopes with how theyβll portray the goddamn Gulf War. The fact they've added an Israeli operator called "Doc" to MWIII in this particular moment in history tells me all I have to know about where Activision stands as a company.
Furthermore, the last Modern Warfare campaign was so bad, it just signaled to me once and for all that Activision does not care about the future of their games or the legacy of any of their previous good games. Iβve mostly been playing Zombies, not even traditional MP / Warzone. But even then, itβs easy for me to get burnt out playing Zombies. And Zombies is not worth the 100 dollars I paid thinking the campaign would be more enjoyable. And seasonβs 1 battle pass that came with the 100-dollar edition of the game is awful in my opinion.
Not to mention, the voice actors of both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series have been either totally racist or highly indifferent about the genocide in Gaza. First, Barry Sloane's tone-deaf Beatles post about "peace" he posted on October that he quickly deleted was more insensitive than I think he even realizes. Samuel Roukin liking a racist article that equates calls decolonization as a "false narrative" was despicable. Of course, that article targets Palestine specifically in its racism, but it also indirectly charges all Third World countries with its accusation of their independence and claims to sovereignty as being "a false narrative." As someone who is of both Latin American and Asian descent and whose countries of origins had to fight for independence more than twice (!!), I cannot accept that.
Then Claudiaβa woman of Lebanese descentβand Elliotβa queer black manβencouraging and offering condolences to an ex-IOF soldier was downright evil. The IOF actively bombs Lebanon as part of their current genocidal campaign. It has waged brutal wars against the Lebanese people in the 1980s & 2000s [x] [x]. And it has carried out both anti-Black violence [x] and sexual violenceβincluding against Palestinian men and women [x] [x], and it engages in its frequently-exposed pinkwashing [x]. Rather than allying with Lebanese, queer, and Black people who have been victims of Israeli/Zionist violence, Claudia & Elliot as people with major platforms instead are disappointingly choosing to legitimize Zionist propaganda.
I don't know a lot about Julian, Warren, Neil or Alain's stances on this genocide, but I never take silence in the face of genocide or war to be a good sign. Lastly, since Oct 7, MarΓa Elisa Camargo (more like caga'o) posted her support for Israel, equating Palestinian existence and resistance with "terrorism." I already did not like her for engaging in indigenista discourses and tropes and for seemingly being very nonchalant about playing the role of a narco-terrorist, trying to girl-bossify a very real source of fear & terror to contemporary Latin American and Mexican people's lives. This was not surprising for her, but it's still worth highlighting.
In terms of Black Ops actors, the former actor for Frank Woods also made incredibly shitty comments in a live stream about the genocide, talking about a so-called "Middle Eastern mentality," (essentializing all Middle Easterners, really), practically equating all Palestinians with Hamas, and roughly stating that people keep on going further back in history to justify their acts of violenceβand I'm sure he was not just referring to Israelis weaponizing the Holocaust to commit atrocities against Palestinians. Like many other people, he gives the impression that he dismisses Palestinians and Arabs as incapable of producing a coherent political thought, and that they only resort to violence out of instinct or because of their religion (which is a gross ideaβIslam is not a religion of violence at all!)
Again, I didn't have much expectations for Call of Duty to be anti-Zionist, let's be real. But I see these actors as creatives whose literal jobs are to empathize with other people's stories and experiences as part of their work. The fact that they're trained to put themselves in another person's shoes but are incapable of putting themselves in the shoes of Palestinian people right now, when nearly 20,000 have been recorded as killedβand many more injured or displacedβis very telling.
Anyone who knows this blog knows I have formed a lot of beef with other COD blogs for stuff like fanfic tropes, sexual politics, and about the idea of watching playthroughs vs. playing the game. For once, I'm actually relieved and oddly glad most of this fandom has rallied around the idea that Palestine is not the villain, and that we almost all understand that what Israel's doing is unacceptable, and that these actors and creative industry workers have a duty as humans to stand with victims of genocide and to call out crimes against humanity. For this, I actually have to commend this fandom. We're so trivial about shit like fanfic tropes and headcanons, but I'm glad we have our heads on straight for things that truly matterβlike real life war and mass violence.
Honestly, the last straw todayβalthough much minor in its gravity compared to genocide apologismβwas Barry's childish behavior toward COD fans on twitter who expressed that they agreed with Christopher Judge's joke at The Game Awards last night that the MWIII campaign was too short. You do not get to talk down, mock, or be childish to your fans when they give you feedback on a public platform as an actor. Judge did not even attack the quality of the game or the VAs' performancesβhe only joked about the game's super short length. Yet, Barry chooses to act out on Twitter because of these harmless jokes. He seems to care more about protecting his ego as "Captain Price's actor" than about the quality of the game or story that fans are receiving and sometimes paying upwards of 100 dollars for.
I thought to myself, okay, this is just one actor letting his ego get to him. That's not that extraordinary. But the fact that COD devs on Twitter today also starting getting defensive about the jokes and trying to excuse the shitty game they produced? That truly showed me that the horrible launch of the campaign and of MP that happened with MWIII was not a learning opportunity for these studios or devs, but rather only made them stick their heads further up their own asses.
I have little faith in this franchise and honestly am not enjoying it, both in terms of game play and the political discourses coming from its creators. After the Season 1 BP is completed (because I fucking paid for itβsadly), I will be planning to uninstall and shelf the game. If I ever play a COD game in the future, it'll be after it goes on a sale because I won't be paying full price. But the thought of giving this company any more money turns me the fuck off right now.
I also realize I'm co-admin for @dailycallofduty and I will still be participating in running it. I'll be promoting the actors' signings less and promoting the game's new content less. Nonetheless, I'll still be reblogging posts that dailycallofduty is tagged in, like art, graphics, and gifs. On my personal blog, I'll still be reblogging COD gifs that I'm tagged in by friends & mutuals. Just don't be expecting more gifs from me. Not that there were many great scenes to make gifs from this new game anyway.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Anyone who has ever said stuff like "culture outside of politics" in regards to russia and spreading russian art/media/music/etc. β kindly, educate yourself.
If you refuse to educate yourself, kindly go fuck yourself.
First of all β a little bit of history lesson. Russia is an imperialist state. Always has been. Over the course of its history (russian empire, the ussr, whatever names it held at any given time period) russia has colonised countless Eastern European and Central Asian nations. Over 90% of russian "culture" is culture stolen from those nations. Ivan Aivazovsky, Kazimir Malevich? The artists I bet you thought were russian? Yeah, they're Ukrainian; and that's only two I can name off the top of my head.
But sure, let's say the art you're sharing is really russian; what's wrong with sharing some art? The war is just the politicians fault, and can you imagine if someone had tried to "cancel" British culture like this for all the atrocities they've done???
Well, I'm sorry, I can't seem to remember Britain committing any genocides in 2023. Use your head β you're you're using the same "separate the art from the artist" argument β there is literally no way to do it if the "artist" is alive and profits from it! And russia does profit: of course there're music and movies and video games, profits from which are literally going to help create weapons to kill Ukrainians; but that is already obvious. No, I want to tell about how russian "culture", "art", things that don't bring them money still are helping russians in their invasion.
It's all about popularising and media presence; it is about making you believe that politics are completely separate from other aspects of life; it is about gathering sympathy for "poor russians" whose government is at fault, and they're just people: with history (colonizing), culture (stolen), their lives (which are, apparently, worth more than the lives of Ukrainians).
It's about spreading the propaganda that regular people are not at fault, that it's the government, that it's only one man responsible for the entire war, that real people are against it! And the more you believe that β the more you begin seeing russians as being victims instead of oppressors, and the more you begin to undermine Ukraine's fight for our lives β "how can we sanction russia, there are poor people living there", "how can we give Ukrainians weaponry, they're killing russians!"
Here's the thing: russians are not against the war. They're not afraid to revolt because they're scared for their lives. They're the ones in tanks, with guns in hands shooting civilians and bombing hospitals. They're the ones sitting in the comfort of their homes writing on social media how Ukrainians deserve to be raped and murdered simply for being Ukrainian (you don't see a lot of that β it's in russian. But a lot of Ukrainians know russian, so we do. We share it, too, for you to see it β but you don't want to)
And those "apolitical" russians, who don't claim to support the war, you know what they do? They take "aesthetic" photos of Mariupol β a Ukrainian city, completely burned down by russians. They call it "doing whatever they want in their country"
Even the most "liberal" "anti-war" russian doesn't think Crimea is Ukrainian.
But of course, you don't want to listen. You want to pretend that russians don't protest because they're scared for their lives, and you want to continue to consume russian media uncritically, because you think that if russians will have to face consequences for their crimes, then you, American or British will have to do so as well.
You should be thinking "my country did terrible things, that's why we need to learn from our mistakes and don't let anyone else do those things", but instead you're thinking "my country did terrible things and experienced little to no consequence, that's why we should let other countries do the same!", and it shows.

As a Eastern European living in Italy, I agree completely. We do face a lot of discrimination, but itβs not βracismβ (people love using that word specifically because it muddles the issue). Also I do feel like they want to use the word racism to denote how serious the hate they receive is, but thatβs so so wrong and disrespectful and cheapens the experiences of people of color. They need to put in the effort to raise awareness about their own discrimination without piggybacking. Itβs so embarrassing. No harm in using another word jfc. Also absolutely not βas bad or worse thanβ what people of color face. Thatβs just delusional and often deliberately malicious. (White) Eastern Europeans can and often are very racist, itβs crazy how I can hear someone complain about their own discrimination and in the same breath make racist remarks! Like, hello?! So yeah. Sorry for this kinda useless message, in conclusion I just agree completely and you are so right.
totally agree, and i want to also emphasise that im not tryna argue that the criteria to being a poc or to being able to claim u experience racism is not being racist to other poc. you can find racism towards specific groups of poc in basically every group... east asians to darker skinned populations (black ppl, south asians, southeast asians, etc), arabs to southeast asians, south asians, and black ppl, iranians to arabs, black ppl to asians & middle easterners, etc etc etc like no racial demographic or ethnic demographic is free of this and i do think that for us to combat racism and white supremacy, we need to also challenge each other and fight racism within our own communities bc we are stronger together.
WITH THAT SAID... yeah i think when the discrimination a group faces can be very clearly tied to other factors, it makes no sense to then turn around and insist that its actually racism that is the root of the discrimination & that therefore white people actually do face racism bc x group of white people sometimes get mistaken for poc (an argument i heard about italians, spaniards, and greek ppl) and then face racial discrimination based on the assumption that theyre actually not european (so .. misdirected racism) or bc y group of white people are looked down on for classist & xenophobic reasons by other white people. racism exists at a systematic, institutional level and involves a "dominant"/"superior" race discriminating against others in various areas of society on the basis of their race, thatβs not the experience of eastern or southern europeans
#i think the way western europe treated brown refugees vs ukrainian refugees shows exactly the difference#in how they view poc vs how they view slavic people#they DO look down on slavic ppl and discriminate against them. but they still view them as superior to poc#they still view them as more similar than different#think back to the countless statements on the news where they kept saying 'these are civilised european christians'#this is the difference between how they view slavs & how they view poc

The Holocaust is often distinguished from other atrocities in terms of 1) its industrial character, and 2) the fact that it denied the humanity of people who were largely accepted as human by the βcivilizedβ world.
That it was carried out through industrial means speaks primarily to the industrial means available to the Nazi war machine. The Nazis were certainly not historically unique in using the latest technology to kill innocents β early American settlers were pioneers in bioterrorism long before the Manhattan Project or drone warfare. Moreover, such creativity has never been restricted to βguns, germs, and steel.β Benjamin Franklinβs memoirs show how the project of American genocide came to understand the effectiveness of alcohol as a weapon:
"If it be the design of Providence to extirpate these savages in order to make room for cultivators of the earth, it seems not improbable that rum may be the appointed means. It has already annihilated all the tribes who formerly inhabited the sea-coast."
The second characteristic is more distinctively disturbing: the aggressive ambition and scope of fascist dehumanization. Nazi Germany declared Slavs and Jews subhumans in the face of, because of, their obviously rising fortunes, and Japan declared all other Asian ethnicities inferior in total disregard for their obvious historical greatness. These werenβt arbitrary hare-brained prejudices that could just as easily have been otherwise, if only there had been the right friendly intervention on the right set of people, or βmore historical awareness,β as is sometimes claimed. Dehumanization was a necessary logical precondition to justify declaring the lands in Eastern Europe and around Japan terra nullius, to justify the imperialist expansive drive into a fully βdiscoveredβ and occupied world. In other words, fascist race science played, in the first half of the 20th century, exactly the same role that liberal race science played throughout the βAge of Discovery,β just directed against a different set of targets and with the entire world, now vocal and interconnected, bearing witness.

Hii your face claim posts are sooo helpful. I was wondering if you have any ideas for face claims for children in a period setting. Appearance or ethnicity doesn't really matter, just as long as they're kids under 14 ish.
I completely forgot about this blog π
you've reminded me to get back into compiling faceclaims, for now, for anyone who would like some extra resources, i have an extensive directory on quotev that I'm planning to eventually expand (add resources for each fc, ect) to tumblr. It is under construction rn I'm adding new fc's and alphabatizing them, so extending to tumblr is in the far future at this point.
QUOTEV FC HELP DIRECTORY
On to the actual ask, I do have a few younger period fc's. The resources for them are extremely limited, you might get 2 or 3 gifs on average for each. Younger fc's are hard to find so if none of these are what you were looking for, my advice would be to have children younger then 14 or so just be left faceless.
β’ Ana Maria Varlotomi (24 y/o but has mostly resources from when she was younger) (white)
β’ Raffey Cassidy (21 y/o but has plenty of younger resources that can pass as period) (white)
β’ Alissa Skovbye (21 y/o but has younger resources) (white)
β’ Maisie Williams (26 y/o but her resources as arya stark can pass as a younger teen) (white)
β’ Billie Gadson (5 y/o with plenty of period resources) (white)
β’ Max Pirkis (34 y/o but has resources from rome where he portrays young octavian) (white)
β’ Ty Tennet (21 y/o but can pass as a preteen in his HoTD resources) (white)
β’ Finn Elliot (20 y/o but his resources in vikings and the crown could work for a younger teen) (white)
β’ Dean Charles-Chapman (25 y/o but looks young in his GoT resources) (white)
β’ Lin Miaoke (23 y/o but only has resources from when she was younger) (east asian)
β’ Liu Chu Tian (13 y/o but that's literally the only gif i've seen of her) (east asian)
β’ Seo Eun Sol (13 y/o and pretty limited gif resources) (east asian)
β’ Yu Xiaotong (29 y/o but has younger resources) (east asian)
β’ Jiang Yiting (10 y/o with a few resources) (east asian)
β’ Kim Jin Woo (not sure about age and he's only got a few resources as prince ayushiridara in empress ki) (east asian)
β’ Nisa Sofia Aksongur (12 y/o but has some resources from magnificent century kosem) (turkish)
β’ Ayda Acar (not sure about age but has some resources from magnificent century) (turkish)
β’ Melis Mutluc (20 y/o but has younger resources from magnificent century) (turkish)
β’ Alihan Turkdemir (13 y/o has a decent amount of resources in magnificent century kosem) (turkish)
β’ Yusuf Berkan Demirbag (17 y/o with some resources from magnificent century) (turkish)
β’ Aybars Kartel Ozson (15 y/o with some resources from magnificent century) (turkish)
β’ Cagan Efe Ak (16 y/o with some resources from magnificent century) (turkish)
β’ Kaizer Aktar (not sure about age but has some resources from tutankhamen) (middle eastern)

On White Supremacy
The Left in the US has this weird view of White vs. Black. Β Which has never really existed. Β Not even in places that mandated discrimination between white and blacks, like the US South, and South Africa.
In the US, while there was a direct Black/White divide, Irish and Italians were also typically excluded. Β Germans and Slavs were on the watch list.
Germans tend to view Germans as the superior race, which include semi-German people, like the Scandinavians, French, and British. Β During WWII, Western allies captured as POWβs, (except for Jews and Blacks), were treated as brothers caught on the wrong side of the wall. Β Eastern Allies were worked to death in slave camps with the Jews. Β The Jews in Germany were Ashkenazi Jews, which were genetically, mostly German. Β Nazi geneology rules allowed Germans to have one Jewish grandparent without being considered Jewish. Β This might seem a weird place to put the line, but this was because Hitler was likely 1/4 Jewish. Β They also considered Muslims and Japanese as honorary Aryans. Β This is why the Neo-Nazis in Ukraine are so hilarious/tragic, because the actual Nazis were trying to exterminate them.
South Africa had a strong Black/White divide, but also considered Japanese to be good and Chinese to be bad. Β A bus driver got fired because he refused to pick up a Japanese, and got his job back when he proved he couldnβt tell the different. Β They also had businesses running triple books to hide the number of black people they were hiring. Β Even Rhodesia had blacks fighting on their side during the bush war, because despite cries of racism, the war was more about fighting off communists trying to invade from outside the country.
And this is why white supremacy is such a joke, because it breaks apart the moment you slightly gaze at it. Β And this is how you can get Larry Elder as theΒ βblack face of white supremacyβ, articles about multi-racial whiteness, the Smithsonian declaring that hard work and timeliness are white. Β And the left seems to recognize this, as they created the term BIPOC: Black and Indigenous People of Colour. Β Because People of Colour, (God I hate that phrase), included the more successful non-whites, like Asians.
And this creates Schroedingerβs POC, as they are counted as POC for demands, but not as POC for who needs to be helped.
Worse, they have thoroughly convinced people that treating others as individuals, and not representatives of their race, is a form of racism. Β This is because they have to racists to fight, because if they didnβt, they could come off as the horrendously racist psychopaths they are. Β They also put one of the most racist and corrupt politicians in history in the White House and claimed it was a form of anti-racism.

"voluntary sex work makes up only a small percentage" is complete BULLSHIT and just proves swerfs are not listening to actual sex workers but ok
Look, pull out statistics ok if you're gonna make claims. This is the problem, you are actively ignoring how many women and children are being trafficked in order to save face, why? Just because a bunch of american cam girls are making bank doesn't mean eastern european women and southeast asian women should be ignored

I'm looking for an fc to my Oc called Leyla, it's for an original story with Bands, she would be a guitarist, with a more pop rock style. If you know any actress/singer/anyone with Middle Eastern or South Asian (India and etc) ethnicity, I would be very grateful!
I forgot to mention in the other ask, but she would be between 20 and 25 years old.
Muskkaan Jaferi (1994) Indian - in Mismatched.
Natacha Karam (1995) Lebanese / Irish.
Sophia Taylor Ali (1995) Pakistani / Sicilian Italian, Danish, Norwegian, German - in Uncharted.
Juliette Motamed (1997) Iranian - has band resources in We Are Lady Parts but also has the vibe!
Ashley Ganger (2000) Indian.

LAC : Sino India Relationship
Over the past 3 years, the two asian giants are locked in a standoff. The standoff which started with provocative action by PLA led to casualties on both sides. Even after 3 years and 17 rounds of commander level meeting the issue remains unsolved in Debsang Bulge and Demchok. And both sides seem adamant for their part in the negotiations. One point worth discussing is that it's disengagement and moving behind a few kilometres not de-induction.
What is even more interesting is the reason for the entire fiasco by the chinese side. Experts have claimed multiple reasons for the action by the Chinese side. While we keep reading about headlines like it was purely a propaganda coup due to internal problems in china due to covid, some say due to abrogation of Article 370, etc. However, these could have played a part if we look at other aspects for standoff could be India's improved Infrastructure all along the LAC, a growing chinese assertiveness all along the areas of dispute whether be SCS or ECS or spartly islands dispute.Another reason could be to test India's preparedness in case of all out war for Taiwan & India's ability to change status quo of LAC during the taiwan conflict.
Also, at times the newspaper headline flashes with articles "India lost 1000's of sq. km of area."However, if we were to look at the actual ground situation then we could make much more pragmatic analysis of the entire standoff. The standoff resulted in areas of no patrolling which lead to very small pockets of grey areas where the border remains undefined. It is important to note that due to different line of perception, before the standoff both sides had patrolling rights to the current buffer zones created.
However, the bigger points of friction like that of Demchok and Debsang could not be looked through the same prism where line of perception varies vastly.
The chinese side seems to have not gained much strategic advantage with the entire standoff. For them it's a slap on the face as India is neither intimidated nor seems to give in to the pressure tactics. Rather it has led to unprecedented response from the Indian side to deter the PLA.
On the other hand, another interesting aspect is how western countries still have not gotten out of their western centric view assuming India needs their help to tackle the standoff.
Instead the army launched an operation called "Snow Leopard" in response to the unilateral action by china and took chinese by surprise and forced the chinese side for negotiations.
In the last 3 years the Army has inducted state of the art military equipment, has upgraded the existing airfields and the Advanced Landing Ground (ALGs) and built new Helipads, airstrips and improved connectivity with modern infrastructure even in the remotest areas of the Eastern sector.
What lays ahead for both sides is to resolve the remaining disputes and demarcate the boundary as neither has gained much and the entire standoff has resulted in stalemate.
