ALSO some of this was inspired by Entergalactic on Netflix. If you guys haven't seen it I highly recommend that you check it out, it's a fucking masterpiece, the soundtrack is bomb, storyline is cute and it's so visually pleasing omg. Kid Cudi really did his thing.

"So, look I know you're in your post-breakup mourning period... but.." Carmen took her hoodie off her head to give a full scowl to her sister, she could already feel the question about to come out of her mouth and she was in no mood. Fresh out of a long relationship, Carmen was a weeping mess that barely saw the light of day for almost a month. The man she thought she would marry and live her life with seemed to have had enough of her and made it clear in those exact words. Harsh. And that's what really hurt the most. Not the typical "I don't think we're working out." But a gut-wrenching "I've had enough." With no explanation.

When she told her sister, Vanessa, she suggested that they burned his things before he came to collect them but she couldn't find it in herself to be that girl— her sister said that didn't have anything to do with her and decided she'd perform the act herself but Carmen did find it funny to see his reaction when he saw the pile of charred clothing on the sidewalk. She was appreciative of her sister, her built-in best friend.

Vanessa looked at her with puppy eyes. "But what?" Carmen answered. "Okay so there's this guy that I've been talking to, his name is Jose, and he wants to meet but I'm kinda nervous so I asked if it could be a double date and he said yeah that's cool-"

"Nessaaaaa." She groaned. She was in no mood to even see a man let alone go on a double date with one. "Pleeeease! Please Mini." She pouted using the nickname she gave her since she was born. Carmen rolled her eyes tossing her head back as she looked at the ceiling to weigh her options, she'd been cooped up in her apartment for a while and she was starting to miss going out for a little drink here and there but she just didn't want to see the opposite sex for a bit. But it was for her sister and her sister would do the same if the roles were switched.

"When is this?"

"Tonight."

"For fuck sake Nessa."

"Sorry. But please?"

Carmen sighed. "Fine."

"Yes!" Vanessa cheered. "What does he look like?"

The older sister scrolled through her conversation finally coming across a picture of the two men, pointing to Jose and the other guy who'd be joining them. Carmen took the phone to get a closer look. He wore a completely shaved head, moustache and goatee which suited him well in her opinion— her eyes darted between the two men noticing the matching tattoos on their neck, and her date with a teardrop one under his eye.

"Vanessa..."

Her sister grimaced. "Yeah?"

"Are they in a fucking gang?"

"...maybe."

She mentally cussed her sister out, she should've known that this was what she was getting into since Vanessa always had a type, but she already agreed to this predictable catastrophe.

The time for the date came quickly and Carmen was thoroughly underwhelmed as she got ready, already planning out what could go wrong in terms of her lack of social skills— she felt like she was already lucky enough to get a boyfriend the first time around due to her awkwardness and now she was being launched back into the dating pool. Sort of.

The sisters arrived at Dwayne's Joint, it was a new spot in town that they had talked about trying out and Vanessa figured tonight would be a good night as any. They sat inside a booth waiting for the boys to arrive, the two sisters giving off very different energies. Vanessa was excited while Carmen sulked ready to get this over with so she could go home, light a blunt, and go to sleep. "You look pretty." Vanessa complimented. Carmen tried her best to make the most of it, she did dress up in a casual black halter top and paired it with a brown skirt, around her waist were her regular waist beads with one sitting above her belly button and the other below it so her belly piercing could be seen. She threw a white knitted cardigan over it but would most likely take it off soon because she was getting a bit hot already.

Her locs, that haven't been retwisted in the month, had been brushed and put up in a ponytail so they'd be out of her face and look somewhat neat. If she had to say so herself, and she did, she looked good.

"Thanks. You look pretty too girly." Carmen smiled. Her expression soon faded when the bell above the door rang signalling a customer had walked in, her heart fell to her stomach when it was the two men they were meeting with. "Here come your boys." She mumbled. "Hush." Vanessa scooted out of the booth and opened her arms to Jose, her sister stood almost stunned that the man almost ran to her scooping her up in his arms and off the floor.

She grumbled at them. Is this what she was going to endure all night?

She and his friend stood awkwardly not knowing if to introduce themselves to each other or wait for their counterparts to do it. The two broke the hug and Vanessa smiled. "José, Spooky, this is my sister Carmen. Carmen this is Jose and Spooky."

Carmen delivered a small wave only to receive a nod from Spooky, he looked like he wanted to be there as much as she did. The four sat down, Vanessa sitting beside her date and Carmen with hers. For the first few minutes it felt like a normal double date as far as those go, Jose did ask Carmen a few questions and made conversation with the two girls but soon all his attention went to Vaness which was fine because that's who he came for anyway.

She didn't know what to say to this "Spooky" guy, every time she looked over at him he was just staring at everything else not even making the gesture to look at her plus he didn't look like he wanted to be bothered anyway so she just went on her phone until their food arrived.

There was constant giggling across the table and consistent compliments and it made her miss her relationship even more-- she used to be like that too and she wished she still was. Her thumb hovered over his contact name, she knew she should've gotten rid of it by now but she didn't want to, she contemplated texting him even if it was to have a conversation for the moment but she didn't so instead she put her phone down on the table and placed her hands in her lap.

"So..." A shockingly deep voice said next to her, she was surprised he could speak at all. "So... you don't say much."

Spooky chuckled. "Neither do you. Guess we have something in common."

"That and friends who drag us to blind dates I guess."

"That too."

Saving the tension in the air was the waitress holding their tray of food, Carmen was grateful for the interruption plus she was mad hungry. The group ate and chatted a bit. She was enjoying her food until her eyes wandered off to the door, she gasped and slid down in her chair causing all eyes from the table to be on her. "What? What's wrong?" Her sister asked. "Damien." She whispered.

Vanessa turned around spotting the ex-boyfriend with a new girl on his arm, she looked over at her sister. "Who's Damien?" Jose asked. "Um, he's someone she used to date."

"What are you scared of him?" He joked. Carmen shook her head, she sat up straight frowning at the new girl. It'd only been a month out of a four-year relationship, how come he had someone already? Was she always there?

She couldn't see it but Spooky saw her expression and the way her mood changed especially when she saw that they were walking toward them to get to a table behind them. "Of all the places." He heard her mumble. He sighed and decided to do her a favour. "Come closer."

"What?"

"Come closer." Carmen listened and shuffled as close as she could, Spooky swung his arm over her shoulder catching her by surprise but she wasn't so stiff anymore she kind of relaxed under him. Damien and his date were getting closer, his smile turning into a frown once he saw her and Spooky.

They stopped in front of her table. "Carmen?" She looked up and fake smiled. "Damien, hey. What's up?"

His eyes shifted over to Spooky who was giving him a death stare. "Nothing, just hanging out, decided to try this new spot."

The air was thick once again, he nodded at the boys who didn't even blink at him, he cleared his throat mustering "See you around." Before going about his business. Carmen let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding, her eyes stung as tears that she didn't want threatened to break their barrier. "You okay?" Spooky asked, she nodded going back to her food only able to take one bite before she knew that her tears were about to embarrass her.

She snatched her sister's car keys off the table and said. "I'll be back." Spooky got out so that she could, he watched her walk out of the establishment the last thing he heard was her whimpers.

"Aww, what's her problem?"

Vanessa's ears found that snarky tone. "Maybe she didn't wanna smell your funky asses sitting right behind her."

Damien's date turned around. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me dog tits." She laughed. The girl gasped. "Are you gonna let her talk to me like that?"

Before Damian could answer he looked up at Spooky who was still giving him a look of disdain. He closed his mouth and asked her to sit down before anything got worse. Spooky took it upon himself to go check on her, he wandered off into the parking lot and not too far from the door did he see her with her head down with fog around her and smoke coming from the windows with the smell of weed in the air.

Inside, Carmen's eyes were red from both the Indica and her tears, she sniffled closing her eyes and rested her head back. She knew coming out tonight would be a mistake. Willing to Trust by Kid Cudi played while the weed took over she felt herself being carried off somewhere else, floating around in her head until a small tap on the window disrupted her peace, she looked over to the passenger's side and to her surprise it was Spooky.

She unlocked the door inviting him inside, she turned down the music taking another hit of her blunt. Carmen sighed putting her feet up on the dashboard. Spooky noticed her Scooby-Doo socks and laughed, she scrunched up her nose stifling her laugh too but she couldn't help it. "Shut up."

"I didn't say anything." He snorted. She looked over at him, her eyes falling on the details of the tattoo on his neck-- the crucifix that you'd more so see in Catholic churches but instead of Jesus and them on it the word Santos was etched into his skin, she scanned him until she landed on the other tattoo of the teardrop under his eye. "Something you wanna ask me?"

Spooky watched as she took another puff, checking her out just as much as she did him. She handed him her blunt and he gladly took it. "What's your real name?"

A dimple poked out when he smiled. "Oscar,"

"Hm, what caused Jose to drag you out of the house Oscar?"

He licked his lips and she didn't know if it was the weed but it made her tingle when he did that. "Eh, he's my hermano, just trynna be his wingman so he could get some pussy you know?"

He handed it back to her. "Gross." She giggled taking a hit. "Yeah? Like you're not helping your sister get some dick?"

"Fair enough."

The two sat in the car and talked for a surprisingly long time as if they were on their own separate date. It was a nice conversation and it helped take her mind off of her troubles for a bit, they hadn't even noticed how long they'd been gone until Jose and Vanessa came out hand in hand with containers sitting in a plastic bag.

Oscar saw them making their way to the car and if he was being honest it was a bit disappointing, he was enjoying Carmen's company she was a fun person to talk to, she was funny, she had some pretty crazy stories to tell and he liked getting to know her. She rolled down the window to greet her sister. "Thanks for dining and dashing."

"No problem." Carmen winked. "Alright let's get you home girl."

She looked over at Oscar and back at her sister and whispered. "Are you and Jose not... you know?"

"I want to but I mean I can just take you home."

She lightly shook her head, her sister getting the hint and smirking. "Um, Spooky do you mind taking my sister home? I mean if that's okay with you, Carmen?"

"Yeah, that's cool with me." She looked over at Oscar with hopeful eyes and he agreed to take her so they switched cars and were left in the parking lot watching the other pair get into the car and drive off. He walked her over to his Red Impala and she was sort of impressed by it, it was a beautiful vehicle and the interior was just as nice.

They wasted no time falling back into the conversation they were having before, leaving the venue and driving around with no destination in particular until Carmen suggested ice cream-- her munchies were kicking in and she was craving something sweet. They pulled up to an ice cream parlour that wasn't too far from her apartment complex, it was sort of empty except for maybe a group of drunks who were in the same predicament as they were.

"So, this Damien guy..." He started. Carmen saw that he was asking for permission to talk about and she nodded granting it. "How long was that?"

"Four years."

"Damn."

She laughed, that was almost everyone's reaction, assuming it was because that was getting rare nowadays. "I know. Hm, I thought everything was fine and perfect and one day it wasn't." She sighed drawing circles on the table with her nails. "You know, you plan your life together, everything is we and ours and us...  then it's not and you're being told how they've had enough."

Oscar half smiled. "Well, that guy's fucking stupid for letting you go ma. Stop dating these square-ass bitches."

Carmen burst out at his attempt to console her, it was funny and it was cute and maybe he was right, maybe she needed someone who wasn't so uptight she did find that being with Damien sometimes required treading lightly on things and it could be annoying but she just accepted it, maybe now she needed someone who was more like... Oscar. So far she found him to be fun, and he sounded like he was down for anything as long as it was amusing.

A text came in on her phone lighting the screen, instead of reading the text she read the time and her eyes widened. It was almost 2 am. "Everything okay?" He asked. "Uh, yeah, just Nessa asking if I got home okay."

He slowly nodded looking at her lips, her septum piercing sitting just above her Cupid's bow another piercing planted on her right nostril, the light freckles scattered across her pretty brown skin, the subtle makeup on her face and her pretty natural lashes coated in mascara— he felt like he was staring at an angel. She started to blush and looked down at her lap.

"You ready to call it a night?"

She wasn't, but it was already late as hell. "Yeah, guess we should go."

They left the shop and once again entered the car, the ride was kind of silent aside from her giving him directions to her place but it wasn't a weird silence like how the night started, they were officially comfortable with each other. The ride was short considering she did live by the ice cream place. Oscar turned off the car and opened his door, Carmen sat a bit confused.

"What? You thought I was letting you go up there by yourself? Come on, ma."

She beamed, the little nickname growing on her, she trailed behind him like a lost puppy into the building and inside the elevator, she clicked for the fifth floor and leaned against the handrail. She looked at him noticing one of the buttons on his flannel shirt was unbuttoned, without processing it she reached over and fixed it for him. Oscar thought the minor detail was sweet, made his heart jump a little when she got close, close enough for him to really smell her perfume that didn't fade away for the whole night— sweet like mangoes.

The doors parted and she went ahead of him to find her place. Apartment 504. He made a mental note, you know... just in case.

She fumbled with her keys and unlocked the door swinging it open and turning to face him.

Invite him in. Invite. Him. In.

"I-I had fun tonight. Really."

"Me too." He agreed. The two stood looking at each other not sure what to say or do, not knowing if they would be on the same page if action took place.

Kiss him. Just fucking grab him and drag him inside and just fuck the sh-

"I... um... I'll see you around?" He nodded wishing her goodnight before he crept down the hall and disappeared back into the elevator. Carmen closed her door and banged her fist against it. "So fucking stupid."

It was a nice and breezy afternoon in Freeridge but Carmen couldn't take notice, the events from two nights ago, though small, were playing through her mind, their conversations and laughter going on like a broken record. Vanessa sat across from her younger sister still in a bit of disbelief at what she was told earlier.

"So... no kiss?"

"No." She murmured. "No, dick?"

Carmen glared. "Bitch if we didn't kiss what makes you think we fucked?" Vanessa put her hands up in defence. "People fuck without kissing."

"Yeah, weirdos."

There was a moment of silence before she asked another question. "Not even a hug!?"

"For fuck sake Ness, no!" She completely folded over resting her forehead on the park table, she was frustrated at herself for not bringing him inside that night even if they didn't end up getting intimate she would've enjoyed just talking or even smoking until the sun rose. Doubts played in her head that maybe she was only feeling this way because she just got out of a relationship and he was the first guy in her line of sight, but last night felt so nice and relaxing, they got along so easily once it was just to the two of them.

Vanessa smirked taking a sip of her drink. "Okay, I'll be serious, why didn't you invite him in?"

She shrugged sitting up straight, she played with the straw in her cup. "Are you scared of him?"

"No."

"Do you think he's ugly?" Vanessa teased. "I don't."

"Girl, I know you haven't been in the streets for a long time but it's okay to think with your punani sometimes. No disrespect you've come to me complaining about your sex life sometimes, so if this is an opportunity to get some good dick, you better jump on it. Pun intended." Carmen ran her hands over her face letting out the longest groan knowing her sister was kind of right, she hadn't had to think with her punani in so long because if she wanted dick it was right there. She sighed. "Can you ask Jose for his number?"

A devilish smile spread across Vanessa's face. "I sure can."

The sun set as quickly as it rose and Carmen was back in her apartment after spending the day with her sibling, she was successful in getting Spooky's number but had yet to text him, every time she opened the empty thread her thumbs would ghost over the keyboard and she'd chicken out turning off her phone. She decided to leave her phone alone and took a quick shower to cool her down but it wasn't helping.

After her shower, she doused herself in cocoa butter and sprayed a little perfume to feel extra good before putting on her oversized grey sweater with the Space Jam characters scattered over it.

"Alexa, play Angel by Kid Cudi." It had recently become her favourite song to smoke to.

"Playing... Angel by Kid Cudi."

Perfect.

She lit a spliff she had rolled earlier and made a mental note to hit her plug for some more loud since this was her last. A moment to herself in this big-ass apartment, she was getting used to being by herself and in some way found peace in it. Her phone buzzed and she looked down at a text from her sister.

Carmen put her phone down telling herself she'd answer once she was done having her moment, until another interruption came, this time it was a knock on her door. She was confused, no one really came to see her unless it was her sister. She sighed outing the last bit of her spliff in the ashtray and trotted to the door, she looked through the people and gasped when she saw who was on the other side. She quickly unlocked her entrance revealing Spooky on the other side.

"Spooky... hi."

She didn't know it but Spooky was nervous, he came over after Jose told him he gave Carmen his number he didn't have much of a plan or a script of what he was going to say to her. On the other hand, she was thinking about what her sister had said earlier, it was okay to think with her pussy for once and she did. It took both of them by surprise when she pulled him down by his black shirt connecting their lips, like a scene straight out of a book she tugged him inside and he reached back closing the door behind him.

He shrugged. "Nothing. Heard you been thinking about me." Carmen groaned and buried her face in her hands, he chuckled at her sudden shyness. "I'm gonna kill that woman." She whined. Oscar moved her hands away and held them in his own. "Don't. I been thinking about you too." He said before cupping her chin, pulling her down this time.

Clothes were in a rush to be removed, tossing every piece on the floor until the cool breeze came in touch with their bare skin. Carmen hummed feeling his teeth graze against her sweet brown skin, his thick fingers padding down her torso and dipping between her legs. Oscar groaned at the feeling of her slickness coating his fingers, a light gasp followed by a whimper graced him as he pushed his fingers inside her cove. Her nails lightly dug at his biceps. OC x Poly Lost Boys

“Who’s got the blues records?” Vanessa called out while writing down the word ‘Blues’ on one of the genre dividers for the records.

She had on her usual black circular shades and was wearing a dark red crop tank top, black bell bottom jeans with some embroidered roses at the bottom, black chunky heeled ankle boots and a cropped black blazer with a bunch of safety pins and chains attached to it.

“I think it’s still in the truck!” Luis answered from the cash register up front. He, along with Danielle were trying to figure out how to hook up the new register.

Vanessa set down her marker and dividers, “Thanks!” She called back, heading into the back room and passing by Timothy and Sarah who were organizing the extra cassette tapes on the shelves.

She walked out the back door and lifted up the door of one of their moving trucks that was filled with boxes that contained their stock for the shop. There were only a few more boxes left full of records, cassette tapes and even a few posters.

They’d been working since the sun rose that morning and it was now night, signifying their hours of nonstop work. Cleaning up the place, reworking all the lighting and moving around the furniture. They bought some of the stock from the previous owners that didn’t sell or anything that they didn’t want.

Vanessa stepped into the truck, she hummed to herself as she moved through the boxes to find what she was looking for. A high pitched whistle rang out from outside the truck as she bent over to grab the box with some of the blues records in it.

Her nose instantly picked up on a scent from behind her. It clicked something in her brain. The scent belonged to Paul. Vanessa stood up straight and looked back, seeing Paul leaning against the side of the truck looking at her, confirming what she smelt.

As a vampire, your senses were heightened; you could see things more clearly, hear a conversation from miles away as if it was happening right in front of you, and dear lord you smelt everything. With dhampirs, it was that times two, but also having mates, no matter which one you were, you could pick each other out from a sea of people with no problem.

Paul smelt of weed and strangely like the ocean. But there was an underlying scent that drew her in, it was intoxicating. She couldn’t place what exactly the scent was, all she knew was that it was pleasant and she wanted to be around it. And of course she could smell the faint copper scent of blood. It wasn’t recent, maybe a day old, but it was still there.

She pushed her glasses up a little farther so as to not let Paul see her eyes. He might have been one of her mates, but she wasn’t to just let him see the most vulnerable parts of her without getting to know him better. The same went for anyone.

Paul grinned at her, “Looking good babe.” Paul snuck to the back of the store only a few minutes ago. He broke off from the others the moment he caught her scent and followed it, finding her in a position that he could stare at all day long if he was given the opportunity.

Vanessa snorted at his words and his thoughts, a part of her amused and the other flattered. Before she could even thank him for the compliment, the others strode up to the truck, Marko bumping his shoulder with Pauls’.

Three more distinct scents filled her sinuses. Marko smelt a combination of fresh air, which was just refreshing, and interestingly had a woody aroma to it as well.

Dwayne followed, her nose breathing what he smelt like. Freshly printed ink and old, worn paper took over, along with what Vanessa could only place as the smell of a bonfire.

Davids’ almost punched her in the face with how fast it hit her. The familiar smell of cigarettes lingered, and tagging along was gasoline and freshly made leather.

All of them together filled her with a sense of nostalgia. Somehow they all reminded her of home and made her feel at ease. Almost calm, quite the opposite of how they present themselves. Vanessa sniffled, trying to refocus, picking up the box she wanted and carrying it to the opening of the truck. She smiled at Paul, “Thanks. Glad to see you guys took my offer.”

Marko smiled, reaching his arms up toward the box she was holding, gesturing for Vanessa to give it to him, “Give it here.”

Vanessa blinked at his gesture, giving him the box as Dwayne then held his hand out for her to take. He took note that she was wearing heeled boots and didn't want her to fall and hurt herself.

Vanessa couldn’t help but smile at him, taking his hand. Dwayne squeezed it a little with a faint smile of his own. He helped her down from the truck as David spoke, “Hope we didn’t keep you waiting.” David gave her a smug smile, using her words from yesterday.

Vanessa let go of Dwayne’s hand and took the box from Marko, the weight of the box feeling like a feather in her arms while it’s actual weight would probably have her struggling, “Not at all.” She jutted her head towards the back door, “Been busy all day trying to get this place set up, that time totally became nothing.”

The boys followed behind her as she led them into the store, her gaze quickly shifting to David as he stared at her intensely. He kept his promise. They kept their promise of returning to her. It made her feel a little giddy inside that they did.

The five entered through the back, Timothy and Sarah quickly greeting the boys with smiles, happy to see them following their friend. Vanessa watched with a smile as they exchanged some words, just some quick hellos and how are yous, bouncing back and forth.

Timothy’s eyes shifted to Vanessa and he smirked, “They got it bad girl. And it’s only been one day.”

Vanessa rolled her eyes, oblivious to the fact that Dwayne noticed the action, narrowing his eyes between both her and Timothy. The others were too busy talking with Sarah to notice themselves. “And you weren’t the same with Luis?” Vanessa stabbed back.

Timothy glared, “Touché.”

Vanessa smirked and turned her attention to the brunette beside her. Her ears started to turn red as he stared down at her. What was with him, or any of them staring at her? Being half alive still gave her the ability to blush, not as much as a regular human, but anyone could tell in good lighting.

Dwayne reached out and brushed her hair back behind her ear, the heat of her skin clashing with his ice cold fingers. It sent shivers down both of their spines and Dwayne was thoroughly enjoying the fact that he made her flustered.

Timothy took the opportunity to call David over, seeing as he was sort of like the unofficial leader of their group. David rose a brow and stepped to Timothy, curious to what he had to say. “Can you do me a favor?” Timothy asked him.

“Depends on the favor.” David answered and smirked a little when Timothy gave him an unamused look for a split second before speaking.

“Steal Vanessa away for a couple hours. She’s been going nonstop since we moved here. Doing paperwork, paying bills, making sure that everything is in its place and she’s too stubborn to take a break on her own.” Timothy explained to David. Vanessa was a bit of a control freak. She rarely lets others deal with the technicalities of certain things.

David looked over his shoulder, watching as Paul and Marko directed their attention back to the white haired girl. She laughed at whatever cheesy pick up line Paul was attempting and David smiled at the exchange.

David nods, “We can do that.” Stealing Vanessa away was their plan anyway tonight. And Vanessa’s friends encouraging them to steal her for the night worked perfectly for them.

Timothy was relieved. He wanted Vanessa to get out for a bit and what better way than with her mates. “Thanks man, owe you one.”

Vanessa cleared her throat, “Before you kick me out for the night, at least let me put these away.” She didn’t want to just leave without completing her part. She still had a lot to do, but she knew fighting to stay and help would end up with her being dragged out by at least one of them. Plus, she did want to spend a little time with the boys.

Without a word, she ventured into the store, the boys following her, leaving Timothy and Sarah alone once again.

As Vanessa returned to her original spot, putting away the records, the boys started asking her questions as they looked through what was already out. “How did all of you guys meet?” Marko asked, standing very close to Vanessa.

Vanessa hummed at the question. They all met a very long time ago but she wasn’t going to tell them that, “I wanted to travel for a bit, see the world you know? I visited a few different countries and met each of them one by one. Been inseparable ever since.”

“You traveled? Where too?” Paul grinned, wanting to know more. He never really stepped a foot out of Santa Carla, none of them have. He wanted to hear in great detail about the places she visited.

“A lot of places, but I’ve been to South Korea, Egypt, France, just to name a few places.” Vanessa only told him a little, she would leave to tell him more another day.

She finished putting in the last of the records when she asked, “How about you guys?” She already had an idea that they were all together for a long time. Maybe not as long as her, but long enough.

David put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her close to him, looking down at her, and directly at her glasses. He was curious as to why she wore them. “Been with each for as long as we can remember.”

Vanessa gulped at the touch, but put her own arm around his back, holding him to her, “That’s nice.” Even behind the glasses, she could still stare into his blue eyes and become lost in them. God damn it he was pretty, they all were.

“Yo, Ness! Get your butt out of this store before I drag it out.” Danielle shouted from the front. Luis nudged Danielle in the side which made her return the action.

David grinned at how eager Vanessa’s friends were to get her out of the store. “Better listen to your friends.”

Vanessa smiled. Even though she said that it would take a lot to drag her away from her work, she was happy to leave for a while, “I guess I should.”

She didn’t know what the night had in store for her, but she was excited to find out.

How I’d cast the The Lost Boys CW show

I’m going to list my first choice and then other possible good choices for each role. I’ll give a reason for why I picked each one. I did some updates to my original post ;) 

David 

Originally portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland.

My first choice would be  Tommy Martinez. 

He is gorgeous and alluring, but still maintains quite an edge in his roles. He managed to really stand out as a wild and dangerous gang leader on Riverdale. He is currently doing a stellar job playing a super sexy sensitive bisexual artist on Good Trouble. I think he do a great job playing David leading the Lost Boys through all their antics. 

Other options:

Nathaniel Buzolic

He played the extremely smart cunning trickster, Kol on the Vampire Diaries and The Originals. He can also do comedy like he did on the sitcom Significant Mother. He can play charismatic psychopath just looking for fun quite well. That seems like a good fit with David. 

Douglas Booth

He is an actor with range. He’s played Nikki Sixx in The Dirt to Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. He has been in films like Jupiter Ascending and Pride and Prejudiced and Zombies. He’s played lots of characters. I could see him playing David. 

Avan Jogia

He could totally channel David’s intensity and charm like it was nothing! He’s played all kinds of characters in so many things! My favorite was Danny Desai in Twisted. 

Star

Originally portrayed by Jami Gertz. 

My first choice would be Emeraude Toubia.

Star needs to be stunning enough to have caught both David and Michael’s attention and  Emeraude Toubia is one of the most stunning women you’ll ever see! She also displayed some amazing acting skills on the show Shadowhunters as Isabelle Lightwood. Her and Jamie Gertz also have a similar look which is a plus. 

Other options:

Danielle Campbell

She did an amazing job playing a young woman discovering just how powerful she could be on the CW’s The Originals. She could go from scared and vulnerable to a fierce force to be recon with. I think that could work for Star.

Ivana Baquero

She did an splendid job playing Eretria on the Shannara Chronicles. She portrayed her character’s wit, cunning and heart quite well. It seems like a good fit for Star.

Vanessa Morgan

She is an extremely talented actress who has played compelling characters on Finding Carter, The Shannara Chronicles and Riverdale. Each character has been very different from the one to another, but all are done well. A thing all of them have in common is a certain edge and compassion to them. Compassion with a bit of edge is quite like Star. 

Michael Emerson 

Originally portrayed by Jason Patric.

My first pick would be  Alberto Rosende. 

Michael needs to come off sweet, but still capable of being a badass.  Alberto Rosende was able to do that on Shadowhunters with his character, Simon Lewis. Alberto just feels like a great fit with the character of Michael Emerson. 

Other options:

Landon Liboiron

He did a brilliant job playing Peter on Hemlock Grove. Landon knows how to acting out a character’s inner struggles quite effectively. We all know Michael Emerson has a lot of issues with inner struggles. Landon is also good at portraying physical struggles as well. Michael seems to get into a few of those too. He gets bonus points for looking a bit like Jason Patric. 

Jordan Rodrigues

He played the really good and charming character, Matt Tan on The Fosters. He is also a professional dancer. I could see him being a good Michael Emerson.  

Alex Saxon

He has a habit of playing charming good guys with a heart of gold that end up in crazy situations on shows like Finding Carter, The Fosters and Nancy Drew. He also has piercing blue eyes like Michael did in the Lost Boys. 

Dwayne 

Originally portrayed by Billy Wirth. 

My first choice is Booboo Stewart 

He is a brilliant actor and part Native American like Billy Wirth is. Booboo has done a great job playing badass characters like Warpath from X-Men Days Future Past and in American Satan, but has also done very dramatic and dynamic roles like he did in White Frog and The Last Survivors. He was able to show off his dancing skills in Disney’s Descendants movies playing Jay. He just feels like such a perfect fit for the role of Dwayne! 

Other options:

Zach Villa

His character in American Horror Story 1984 gave off such major Dwayne vibes the entire season! He was so good in AHS 1984! His look often reminds me of Billy Wirth, so he gets bonus points for that. 

Martin Sensmeier

He is another Native American actor that I could see playing Dwayne. He did awesome job playing Red Harvest in the Magnificent Seven. He didn’t have ton of lines and often had rely on acting with just his face and body langue. He pulled it off. Dwayne wasn’t a very talkative guy in the Lost Boys. It’d be good if his actor was good at face acting. 

Jade Hassouné

I saw him on Shadowhunters playing Meliorn. He often stole the scenes he was in with just his sheer presence. He didn’t get a ton of lines, but he did some great face acting and he made the most of the few lines he got. I could see him pulling Dwayne off well. 

 Paul

Originally portrayed by Brooke McCrater (RIP).

My first choice is  Machine Gun Kelly for Paul.

If you have seen him in Netflix’s The Dirt playing Tommy Lee, you know why he is PERFECT to play Paul. He completely captured Paul’s wild manic positive and yet some how still chill energy. I could really see him pulling off Paul’s look as well!  He is just perfect for the role! 

Other options:

Thomas Doherty

He was a ton of fun to watch with the manic energy he brought to the role of Harry Hook in Disney’s Descendants series. He could be a fun Paul to watch. 

Marko

Originally played by Alex Winter. 

My first pick for Marko is  Jordan Connor.

He do a good job playing the hot head Sweet Pea on Riverdale. I could see him do a good job channeling Marko’s impish energy! Also, the idea of Marko’s character being the tallest cast member makes me giggle. 

Other options: 

Austin Butler

I could see him having a ball playing the tricky Marko. I’ve seen him play various characters in Arrow, the Shannara Chronicles and the Carrie Diaries. Bonus points form the blonde hair and blue eyes like Marko.

The Big Day Part 2

Pairing: Joe Anaoi X Reader (Roman Reigns X Reader)

Warnings: None. Nice and fluffy for you.

Now that the ceremony, the eating and the show was over, we all sat around 2 bonfires, Joe sitting on a log, and me seated in between his feet on the sand.

What surprised me the most was that barely anyone left. Where I was from, everyone came to a family reunion at the beginning, and after the food was served, older members and those with young kids trickled out, but that obviously not the case at a Samoan Independence Day celebration. Babies slept in the arms of parents and family members, older members were seated in comfortable chairs, some with thick blankets over them to keep them warm, and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) helped keep the young and the old happy and comfortable. This was the Fa’a I’d read about. The Samoan way of revering your elders and working as a family instead of individuals. Truly it was beautiful.

Dwayne had procured a guitar, and sat strumming the instrument, occasionally adding some lyrics, a little Elvis here, a little Moana there. “Ok. Ok. Who is ready to name that tune?” I was a bit confused, but everyone else knew what was going on. I watched and learned. Dwayne would play a few notes, and the first person who could guess the song, had to sing a bit of it; no matter how bad of a singer they were. Obviously, the more tone-deaf singers were cut off early, and a new song started.

I knew the next song by the 4th note but didn’t answer. I waited for someone to start singing. This was an easy one. I waited as Dwayne vamped the 8 notes that should have been easy to recognize. “Awe, C’mon guys. This one’s a classic.” He played the 8 notes again.

I leaned over to Vanessa and Joe and whispered, “Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.”

I must not have been quiet enough, because the next thing I heard was Dwayne say, “Y/N has it.” He vamped the 8 notes again, looking at me expectantly. “You have to sing it now. It’s tradition!”

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and sigh out loud. I looked at Joe in a panic. He leaned in close to me. “Baby, it doesn’t matter what anyone said in your past. We are your new family, and we will love and support you even if you can’t sing.” His words were sweet but ignoring that voice in my head that told me I am never enough was impossible.

Seeing that I was anxious, Dwayne said, “I’ll sing it with you.”

They didn’t understand. They didn’t know. It wasn’t that I couldn’t sing. It’s that my singing had been tainted when I was younger. It was never good enough. I was never good enough, and so, I’d locked that part of me up tight and didn’t want to revisit it, but I didn’t have a choice now.

I tried to keep my voice low so Dwayne’s would cover it. “They say there was a secret cord.” Yeah, Dwayne was covering up my voice. “That David played, and it pleased the Lord. But you don’t,” Dwayne stopped singing, so I did too.

Dwayne looked from Joe to me. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t know.” Joe said.

I looked at Joe who looked awestruck. “Joe, don’t…”

“Now you HAVE to sing it. It’s family tradition.” Dwayne prodded, vamping the introduction again. Now the people around us joined in, trying to encourage me to sing.

I looked at Joe. He wrapped his arms around me until his mouth was next to my ear. “Baby,” His voice was low and sexy, and I got wet just hearing it. “What I just heard was beautiful. It doesn’t matter what happened in your past. We are your family now, and we want to hear you sing. I promise nothing bad will happen. It’s time to replace those old memories with new, happy ones.” I turned to look at him, and I saw complete love. I eyed the others around the fire, and I saw complete acceptance, but still…..

I nodded at Dwayne; a bit surer of myself now. He started the song over, ready to sing along if necessary, but I sang on my own. “I heard there was a secret cord.”

Dwayne smiled big and encouraged me, “Louder. You sound great.”

“That David played, and it pleased the Lord.” I sang it a little bit louder.

Joe whispered in my ear again, “Please baby, Keep going. I want to hear.”

Louder, “But you don’t really care for music, do you?”

“Belt it out Y/N,” Dwayne urged.

My voice quivered as I started the next line, but honestly, I hadn’t sung in so long, and it felt so right to just lose myself in the song, so I looked up at Joe and continued. “It goes like this, the fourth the fifth. The minor fall and the major lift.”

“Let go baby. Let go for me.” Joe whispered to me, and I did.

“The baffled king composing Hallelujah.”

Dwayne stopped suddenly, looking at me. “I’ll make a deal with you.” I was intrigued. “If you really sing the song, like put all of your power behind it, I’ll buy you and Joe an hour-long massage tomorrow.” That was tempting.

“Two!” I challenged.

Dwayne laughed, “Two massages?”

“No. Two hours.” Everyone laughed now.

“It’s a deal kid, but you have to really belt it out. Pretend you’re giving a concert in front of your most adoring fans. Got it?” He challenged me this time.

I just smiled, knowing I was about to blow him away. “Deal.” I said as I rose from the ground to get more lung capacity. I sat next to Joe.

Dwayne began to play the intro, and I let go. I sang like I would only sing for myself alone in the shower.

“I heard there was a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord, but you don’t really care for music, do ya?” Joe ran his hand over my back, smiling at me, and I could feel his pride. “It goes like this, the fourth the fifth. The minor fall and the major lift.” I really put emphasis on the last line, “The baffled King composes Halleluiah.”

Trinity yelled out, “Wooo! Get it Y/N.” Her rowdy cheer spurred me on. I looked to see both Fatu families smiling at me. There was complete acceptance and awe in the eyes of everyone around the fire, and as I started the second verse, people wandered over from the second fire, wanting to hear me sing.

“Your faith was strong, but you needed proof. You saw her bathing on the roof. Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you.” The next line should be stronger, but I normally tried to hide my voice. Feeling encouraged, I did it the way it should be sung. “She tied you to her kitchen chair.” Trinity wooted again. “She broke your throne and she cut your hair.”The song built.

Jimmy yelled, “Get it sister Uce!

“And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah.”

I expected Dwayne to stop now, but he nodded at me as he played on. “Let’s hear it. Slay this verse!” I sang the chorus, lost in the music. Lost in the vibrations in my chest and my abs. “Halleluuuuuuuuujah.”

Joe beamed with pride at the crowd around us, which was growing considerably with each note. I noticed Jimmy had his phone out. I wasn’t sure if he was filming or if he was face timing our friends again, but I knew I was making Joe proud, so I ignored it.

“Well, maybe there's a God above, but all I've ever learned from love, Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya. And it's not a cry that you hear at night. It's not somebody who's seen the light.” This was the big moment. I tried desperately to ignore everyone around me but Joe and I belted it out, strong and beautiful. “It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah.” The crowd around the fire erupted in cheers and applause.

I stopped, figuring that was enough, but Dwayne keep playing, prompting me to sing more. “Go on baby,” Joe whispered in my ear.

“Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah” I brought the song to a close.

I thought the cheers before were loud. When the song ended, everyone went wild with cheers, applause….. it was insane, and as pride washed over me, I began to feel guilty for enjoying the attention. “That was amazing!” Dwayne said as Joe pulled me closer into his side and kissed my temple.

“That’s my girl.” He said half to me and half to the crowd. He leaned close to my ear now. “Baby, that was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.” I looked to find him smiling at me, soft and gentle and full of pride.

“Do another one!” Trinity yelled, and the crowd started chanting “Another one. Another one.”

Dwayne laughed and looked at me. “What do you say?”

“Let someone else play,” I tried to generously cede everyone’s attention.

Someone yelled “Noooo!” loudly.

Dwayne laughed. “I think we found our winner. Game is over.” He gestured toward the crowd. “Your audience wants another one.” He poised his hands over the guitar.

My mind frantically scanned my memory to pick another song. It would have to be well known so Dwayne would know it. “Ummmm…. Somewhere Over The Rainbow?” I asked, and he answered by starting the song.

IG Culture’s LCSM “Likwid Continual Space Motion” releases 18 track LP and theatre soundtrack Earthbound on Super-Sonic Jazz Records. With last year’s ‘EP1’ release on the Super Sonic Jazz label, broken beat icon IG Culture introduced the world to the afro-futuristic and forward-thinking jazz of LCSM “Likwid Continual Space Motion”. Now, the UK pioneer kicks off the new decade by expanding on the project with a full-fledged album entitled Earthbound. The interstellar instrumentals blur borders between funk, soul and space-age jazz, while maintaining the signature ‘London Bruk Boogie’ sound IG Culture is recognised for. The album also serves as a score for the accompanying science fiction theatre production that goes by the same name. Earthbound delicately propels listeners out of orbit and into the vastness of space. The conveying message behind the album is based on the work of author Zecharia Sitchin, who translated ancient Sumerian tablets that explain the origins of humans. The story revolves around the ancient people of Nibiru who return to earth, only to discover that the humans they had once passed down their knowledge are now living in a world of chaos. People's Choice Awards 2019 — full list of winners

E!'s People Choice Awards held on Sunday night, November 10, and some of the biggest names in Hollywood were at the event, including Kevin Hart who made his first public appearance since his car accident. Hart accepted the Comedy Act of 2019 recognition after which he gave his first public speech since his September car accident. In his speech, he thanked his family and fans for their support. People Jennifer Aniston, Gwen Stefani, and P!nk were also some of those who received honors this year. Aniston was honored with The People’s Icon award, Stefani earned the Fashion Icon Award, and Pink took home The People’s Champion for her charity work. Néha kifejezetten jól sül el, ha valamiről több bőrt is lerántunk

A spin-off tipikusan az a műfaj, amit a hollywoodi pénzcsináló gépezet keltett életre. Amikor egy sikeres franchise kezd kicsit elfáradni, illetve amikor egy népszerű trilógia vagy sorozat a végéhez ér, a nagy stúdiók a hatalmas profit érdekében előrántják a homályból a történet egyik izgalmasabb mellékszereplőjét és egy komplett új világot szőnek köré. A legtöbbször sikerrel is járnak, hiszen a hardcore rajongók mindig kapható egy kis extra tartalomra, de azért olyan is előfordul, hogy valahol mégis félremegy a dolog. Ebben a hónapban az utóbbi idők legérdekesebb és/vagy legsikeresebb spin-off filmjei gyűjtöttük csokorba.

Farkas (2013)

Az X-Men filmek egyik állandó szereplője Hugh Jackman, vagyis a Rozsomák, akit máig érthetetlen módon a magyar fordítók Farkasnak kereszteltek. Jackman mind az eredeti, mind pedig az Elsők szériában is feltűnik, és egyre érdekesebbé válik a titokzatos múltja, így csak idő kérdése volt, hogy a figura mikor kap egy saját történetet. Jackman nevét a közelmúltban a Guinness rekordok könyvébe is bejegyezték, miután eddig kicsit több mint 16 éven keresztül játszotta Rozsomák szerepét.

Felhangolva (2010)

A 2000-es évek elején Judd Apatow volt a vígjátékok koronázatlan királya. A nagysikerű romkomjának, a Lepattintvának egyik legérdekesebb mellékszereplője pedig az a brit popsztár volt, aki miatt a főhőst elhagyta a csaja. Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) és a kegyeit kereső szállodamenedzser (Jonah Hill) két évvel később kapott egy saját filmet is, amiben Hill karaktere átváltozik egy lemezkiadó menedzserévé, de a személyisége lényegében ugyan az marad. A zeneipart is kifigurázó roadmovie egyesek szerint még jobban is sikerült, mint a Lepattintva.

Jumanji – Vár a dzsungel (2017)

Miután számos hollywoodi alkotás meglovagolta a ’80-as évek retro hullámát, csak idő kérdése volt, hogy a synthwave betétekkel teletűzdelt sztorikat mikor váltja fel a ’90-es évek grunge stílusa. Ebbe a trendbe csatlakozott bele a Marvel-kapitány és a Jumanji: Vár a dzsungel is, aminek van egy 1996-os és egy jelenkorban is játszódó történetszála. A második Jumanji film az elsővel ellentétben szinte végig az ördögi játékban játszódik. Talán pont ezért, de az új kaland 2017 egyik legnagyobb sikere volt, idén karácsonykor pedig jön a második szint.

Jay és Néma Bob visszavág (2001)

A ‘90-es évek egyik legikonikusabb filmjében, Kevin Smith Shop-stopjánban, annyira népszerű lett az eredetileg csak biodíszletnek szánt két mellékszereplő, Jay és Néma Bob, hogy a rendező végül több más filmjében is megjelenítette a vegyesbolt előtt ácsorgó léhűtőket. Smith 2001-ben egy saját filmet is írt a két füves csávónak. A Jay és Néma Bob visszavág a korábbi sikerek ellenére leginkább csak arról maradt emlékezetes, hogy a b*meg szó 248-szor hangzik el a kicsit több, mint 100 perces játékidő alatt.

Machete (2010)

A Machete története messzire nyúlik vissza és eléggé szövevényes. A Danny Trejo által alakított figura először a tipikusan B-kategóriás rendező, Robert Rodriguez gyerekbarát filmjében, a Kémkölykökben tűnt fel pár percre, aztán a Grindhouse egyik kamuelőzetesében árnyalták tovább a bozótvágós mexikói karakterét. Sem a Kémkölykök, sem a Grindhouse nem aratott osztatlan sikert, Rodriguez, a trashfilmek királya mégis úgy döntött, hogy ad egy esélyt és egy saját filmet a méltán híres Machete bácsinak.

Annabelle (2014)

A Démonok között 2013 egyik legnagyobb meglepetése volt. A kritikusok és a nézők is imádták a James Wan által rendezett kísértethorrort, ami bebizonyította, hogy rejlik még lehetőség ebben a műfajban. Még meglepőbb volt, amikor filmet nem egy folytatás, hanem egy spin-off követte. Az Annabelle már nem annyira nyűgözte le a kritikusokat, a közönség viszont rajongott érte, olyannyira, hogy idén már a sorozat harmadik része is a mozikba került.

Legendás állatok és megfigyelésük (2016)

A Harry Potter könyvek és filmek óriási sikere után biztosra lehetett venni, hogy a Warner bővíteni fogja a már amúgy is tágas Potter-galaxist. A varázslótanoncok története annyira szerteágazó, hogy milliónyi spin-off lehetőségét rejti magában, így a stúdió eleinte nem is tudta, hogy merre induljon a varázsvilágban. Az első információk még arról szóltak, hogy a Warner egy Göthe Salamanderről szóló áldokumentumfilmet készít elő, végül inkább Rowlingra bízták a különc magizoológusról szóló film forgatókönyvét. A kezdeti sikerek után a Warner be is jelentette, hogy az új sozatot öt részesre tervezik.

Zsivány Egyes: Egy Star Wars-történet (2016)

Az első film, a Lázadókról szóló Zsivány egyes hangos sikert aratott 2016-ban, a kritikusok és a rajongók szerint az volt a legjobb Star Wars film, az első trilógia óta, de a következő rész, a tavaly a bemutatott Solo már elég nagy bukás lett. A pénztáraknál legalábbis. A rajongók keménymagja természetesen Han Solo eredettörténetét is imádta.

A Bourne-hagyaték (2012)

A Bourne-trilógia lezárása után a korábbi főszereplő, Matt Damon és a rendező, Paul Greengrass sem akarta tovább folytatni a szériát, de a Universal mégis ragaszkodott egy negyedik részhez. A spin-off forgatókönyvét, a korábbi filmeket is jegyző, Tony Gilroy írta meg, aki tulajdonképpen csak annyit tett, hogy Jeremy Renner személyében bevezetett egy új karaktert a Bourne-univerzumba, ami egy tv-sorozat formájában most még tovább fog bővülni. A CIA-programját, a Treadstone-t bemutató szériának egyelőre még nincs premierdátuma.

Halálos iramban: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

A végeláthatatlan autós-üldözős sorozat hetedik és nyolcadik részének egyik legemlékezetesebb pillanatai azok a jelenetek voltak, amelyben Luke Hobbs és Deckard Shaw egymást oltogatta. Dwayne Johnson és Jason Statham olyan szórakoztatóan tudta utálni egymást, hogy a Universal egyből beállt egy olyan spin-off mögé, ami a nagyobb teret ad Hobbs és Shaw viszályának.
