Today, I drove in Thailand. It was only the backstreets, because neither myself or my parents trusted me to drive on the big roads. It was absolutely terrifying being on the opposite side of the road, but it was also kind of fun???? Either way, it felt like being back in Driver's Ed, too scared to go over 15 mph.
I also did laundry today, so when I got dressed, I just put on a sweater. No shirt, just one of those zip-up sweaters. And then we get to TSA because I was not thinking, and of course, TSA makes you take your jackets off. So here I am, a 5'3" (160cm) person, in a pink sweater with no shirt, in front of maybe 30 people in various stages bag checks and TSA.
So I opened my bag, pulled out a shirt, and put it on. Managed to unzip that sucker and get my arms out, then pulled that thing out of my ass (or at least.. the back of my shirt). In maybe 30 seconds.
As we were repacking our bags with all the computers and such, my mom asked how I managed to do what I just did so quickly. I just smiled and said, "Three years of theater finally paid off!"

Do you think the reason why Joke doesn't know how to drive a car was because he went to prison before anyone could teach him

hello i am thinking about the scene with the twins after their parents' funeral again because it makes me so damn sad, and because that moment really just set them up to develop into the horribly maladjusted adults they are today
like we definitely see how that affected ai throughout her childhood and well into adulthood--it's the first time she ever experiences her grandma favoring oom over her, and that's reinforced by the very real differences in how grandma raised her vs how she raised oom. it's no wonder she ends up developing an inferiority complex about her sister and a strong negative self-concept
but for oom, i think she saw that moment as ai letting go of her hand, rather than her (oom) pulling away/grandma pulling her away. it makes me think of ai's voiceover we hear in episode 2 ("i always made it my goal to take the best care of my little sister, until the day we let go of our hands") and how it fits into oom's perspective too. not only is her older sister, who she loved and looked up to so much, now letting go of her, she's also pulling away right after she hears other people insinuate that oom was the reason their parents died. it's why she's still bringing that up as an adult (episode 11) and why she needs ai to choose her so desperately--her guilt over their parents' death and her feeling like a burden because of her illness is completely wrapped up in her belief that ai doesn't love her anymore/hasn't loved her for awhile. for ai to choose her would be like absolution
and the most tragic thing of all is that oom did reach back out for her when they were kids--ai just wasn't looking. and doesn't that just sum up their entire relationship

It's fucking weird how rude people are about immigration sometimes. And I don't just mean bigots being biased and stuff. I mean that, on a REGULAR basis, people ask me if I'm thinking about "going back to the US". And I'm just like... no? What do you mean "back to the US"? I live in Germany. I LIVE IN GERMANY.
I literally fucking started learning German and obsessing on German culture in high school, then I went to college in the US and majored in German Studies, including two study-abroad programs in Germany, then I moved to Germany for grad school and lived there for three years and worked in various German-speaking jobs while studying, then I had to temporarily return to the US but found a German-translation-based job at the US branch of a German company, and made a bunch of German or at least German-speaking friends in my new US city, and then a few years later I was able to move back to Germany, where I got a work visa sponsored by my employer and a full-time salaried job, and after a few more years I acquired my permanent residency, and soon I'll be applying for citizenship.
And people still sometimes ask me whether I'm considering "going back to the US". Like... dude? Would you ask a Mexican living in the US about their plans for "going back to Mexico"? That is rude as fuck.
Immigration is fucking hard. Why on earth would I have gone through all this shit just to throw it up in the air like "Oh well, never mind!"

Survived my first day in Bangkok. Went to a mall and stumbled across an idol group performing which was super cool, absolutely no clue who they were but it was a fun show. I’ve had a much easier time navigating the trains than I thought I would. Caved and spent too much on a tuk tuk ride from the station to the hotel after I was done at the mall because it was like 7am in my normal time zone by then and I did not wanna walk
Also went to a spa I saw in a TikTok and that was An Experience. Two hour head massage, got shampooed like 4 separate times, some other things I could not identify, then got bonked a few times for good measure. And now my hair is the shiniest and softest it’s ever been

Tim saying as a joke that Lucy is a freak in the sheets was purely for levity and to avoid actually discussing his therapy sessions, and has nothing to do with white men fetishizing Asians because if you were concerned about that you wouldn't be shipping Chenford in the first place. Plus Tim isn't a weeaboo. A white man who is in love with a woman who happens to be Asian is allowed to call her sexy in private where no one else is listening, without being accused of fetishizing her.
