An American Airlines commercial plane heading to Washington DC from Wichita Kansas collided with a military Blackhawk helicopter causing the plane to crash into the Potomac
Just last week, President Trump FIRED the heads of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Coast Guard, and disbanded the Aviation Security Advisory Committee.
Trump also froze the hiring of Air Traffic Controllers. All flights heading to Reagan National Airport have been diverted and all planes are grounded effective immediately
Devastating.

I was sent to fix a machine for the TSA, but they made me stand in the long line with a large machine fixing briefcase. Just because I was there to fix something, didn't mean I could skip the line. My alarm went off before I reached the end, but I did get pretty close.

Trump officials asked over a dozen senior career diplomats to step down, sources say
Here comes the partisan purge as part of the Republican war on good government and expertise..
Remember how W insisting all intelligence briefings should be tailored to what he wanted to hear led to 9/11 being successful? They are planning competent non-partisan people with integrity from our intelligence services so they can do that on a large scale for 47.
On a related note Ratcliffe has basically vowed to do just that at the CIA, which is why 47 picked him. It's also why he wants Kash Patel for the FBI.
He is replacing vetted, competent people with people he didn't bother to vet and is giving them security clearances willy nilly.

Confession: during the interviews, I saw #CellbitTSA trending on Twitter and was genuinely worried that Cellbit was being held by airport security before I remembered.

Today, I drove in Thailand. It was only the backstreets, because neither myself or my parents trusted me to drive on the big roads. It was absolutely terrifying being on the opposite side of the road, but it was also kind of fun???? Either way, it felt like being back in Driver's Ed, too scared to go over 15 mph.
I also did laundry today, so when I got dressed, I just put on a sweater. No shirt, just one of those zip-up sweaters. And then we get to TSA because I was not thinking, and of course, TSA makes you take your jackets off. So here I am, a 5'3" (160cm) person, in a pink sweater with no shirt, in front of maybe 30 people in various stages bag checks and TSA.
So I opened my bag, pulled out a shirt, and put it on. Managed to unzip that sucker and get my arms out, then pulled that thing out of my ass (or at least.. the back of my shirt). In maybe 30 seconds.
As we were repacking our bags with all the computers and such, my mom asked how I managed to do what I just did so quickly. I just smiled and said, "Three years of theater finally paid off!"

[ID: A tweet by the official Twitter account for the TSA (@/TSA) that reads, "Peanut Butter is a liquid. We said what we said." It is dated August 23, 2024. /end ID]

I just wanna fly on a plane without being molested, and you're tweeting like your a 2014 brand account. I blame Wendy's for this shit.
anyway I hope the tsa gets abolished. they were hastely set up post 9/11 not as a way to actually protect anyone, but to invade our privacy and give the illusion of protection. not once in the tsa's 23 years of existence have they stopped a single terrorist attack. all they do is make your life difficult for people who travel, molest you if your body isn't perfectly cis, racially profile you, and abuse their power and invade your privacy

Nearly 3 million People Passed Through U.S. Airports In A Single Day, Setting A New Record
Tumblr media
The number of air travellers passing through U.S. airports reached a record high on Sunday, though this new benchmark might be surpassed by next weekend.
The Transportation Security Administration reported that it screened 2.99 million people at airports on Sunday, breaking the previous record of 2.95 million set on May 24, the Friday before Memorial Day.
The TSA anticipates that it will surpass the 3-million mark on Friday, as many people will be getting an early start on their July 4 holiday travel plans.
“We expect this summer to be our busiest ever and summer travel usually peaks over the Independence Day holiday,” TSA Administrator David Pekoske said.

Waiting to exit! WAITING TO EXIT!
I've grown to hate all of you, fellow passengers, on this flight, and now we all get one last, yet seemingly endless opportunity to all piss each other off.
Everyone who grabs their things slower than me should be put to death for keeping us trapped here even one minute longer than we had to. And everyone who grabs things faster than me is a selfish monster who should be put to death for their lack of respect for others.

Congressional Hearing on Visits to U.S. Airports by Cuban Officials
On July 9, the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security of the House Committee on Homeland Security held a hearing on visits to the U.S. by Cuban officials to U.S. airports where flights from Cuba are received. This was after a May 20, 2024 (Cuban Independence Day) visit by Cuban officials hosted by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at the Miami International…
