DSMP was a comfort fandom for me, and it seems like it’s just been hit after hit. You are not a bad person for liking things. Feel free to get off of the internet for a while. as much as my memories and connection with the dream smp has been tainted overtime due to reasons, i still cant get myself to hate that time period and the server as it truly was what kept me creatively stimulated during covid. it is what got me back into minecraft and allowed me to be introduced to so many other creators beyond what i thought i would watch and for that im grateful. this may be bittersweet in more ways than one but i just want to say thanks for all the memories, the good and the bad, and goodbye.

Yknow what? It feels so fucking good to finally say this. But I’ve left the dsmp fandom. I’ve been gone for a while but saying it feels so good. I was so done with all the drama. All of it was stupid and could’ve been avoided had some of the cc’s made better choices. Especially the drm part of it. Yeah I’ll miss some of the content(sbi and beeduo only)but like I’m so much happier now that I haven’t had to deal w people I’m hyperfixated on getting canceled every damn day. Ykwim????? It’s so fucking nice. Definitely recommend stepping away from toxic fandoms if they’re harmful. Just sayin lol! Have a good day y’all.

One more thing on Dream.

He is never going to confess. He will never say he knowingly groomed a minor or anything like that. He will keep lying forever.

Given that, I think he's already been successfully deplatformed. Like yes he has a few defenders but I think they are an extremely vocal minority who either know all about the allegations and doesn't care or are in extreme denial.

Dream doesn't have an SMP anymore. No CC is going near him except his extremely small circle of friends. He is toxic to any other. He has produced a little content over the last year but I'm confident the numbers are dire especially compared to what they were.

The victim's stories are out there and they're well-circulated. I doubt Dream is gaining any news fans anymore and hopefully he will struggle to take advantage of his dwindling fanbase in the future.

Dream's going to keep doing and saying controversial things forever. And we'll think we need to give his nonsense attention. But you know. I'm not sure we need to. Dream feeds off attention and in many respects the harshest thing we can do is to ignore him. Let him fade into irrelevance.

We should definitely decry Dream's general attitude towards his fans of course. The horrendously predatory and creepy parasocial relationships he fostered very deliberately with his fanbase is wrong. There may be future CCs like Dream and I don't want to allow his antics to exist.

i assume most of these people hate mcyt because of dream and dream smp. and jimmy is just...not associated with that at all. he's interacted with dream, what, maybe once? they were on a mcc team together three years ago in 2020. i literally don't think they've spoken before or since, not that i can think of. he's never been involved in dream smp either. honestly, in terms of degrees of separation, jimmy's just as close to stampycat (via martyn + netty) as he is to dream smp people. to my knowledge jimmy has never been in any controversy. not that i want to speak to soon or have anybody go digging up stuff, but like??? it's jimmy solidarity?? wet paper bag of a silly man who gives his two kitties little kisses on the head? AND PEOPLE ARE HATING ON HIM THAT HARD JUST BECAUSE HE MAKES MINECRAFT VIDEOS?

Hmm…. Interesting, thank you. Yeah duh, I confess I didn’t have the chance to watch the video you linked before I asked lol… Still, that is January, which is a lot later than I thought originally…

See, I’ve always thought that Ranboo working with Dream made a lot of sense because their mindset and goals are very similar - about the people not the sides. The desire to have one big happy family not divided by politics and nations and a version of Ranboo with all of his memories meaning he remembers people before Tommy, Tubbo, Quackity and such would be more inclined to see a larger picture. Like it’s easy to be against Dream if one joined the server at Exile versus earlier because one didn’t see Dream fishing, bringing a horse home from thousands of blocks away, patching creeper holes or rebuilding Tubbo’s house. In general, the reason a child’s perception is so skewed is because of the small amount of memories they have to work with. They have less data to work with so they are making decisions, assumptions, choices, judgments etc with a small amount of information on the matter. So a Ranboo that has more memories would have more experience and be able to have a deeper understanding of things while still having the same goals, motivation and love for his friends, and because of that be more willing to work with Dream for big picture goal.

Course then comes the revival book and the comments about mind control, which given staged duo we can decide to believe or not, the way the revival book video frames things certainly implies the revive book is involved in some way, perhaps as a way to communicate to enderboo while being in prison… I don’t know, regardless if it was mind control then I see it more as hypnotism, where while hypnotized you are more inclined to do things but still would never do anything you don’t want to if that makes sense. The Cleveland Clinic has this to say about hypnosis “Your hypnotist or hypnotherapist guides hypnosis, but hypnosis is something you do for yourself. You can’t be made to do anything against your will. You won’t reveal any information that you wished to remain secret. You don’t lose control over your behavior. Hypnosis makes it easier to experience suggestions but doesn’t force you to have certain experiences.” In other words, because Ranboo’s beliefs and motivations seem to align with Dream I think perhaps that whatever they had going on wasnt mind control where Ranboo was Dream dummy to make so what he wants but more likely hypnosis. In which case, Ranboo is aware, has control, and doesn’t do anything against his will. This would also make sense given the memory thing as hypnosis has been used to both try and gain memories and more successfully forget. Course messing with the memories has proven to cause people to be more inclined to adopt a new memory as their own even when it isn’t. Though not that ccRanboo probably spent time reading psychological hypnosis articles and such lol - so maybe although not perfect this was more or less along the lines of what was happening - less mind control and more hypnosis. Hypnosis can also be self induced so perhaps the :) is a trigger for his brain to self hypnotize (other sources link & link) …

I don’t know this is just a thought obviously, but I feel like it’s significant that Ranboo and Dream’s mindsets we’re very similar so whatever this mind control was, that’s shown in the revival book video, wasn’t just forcing him to do things against his will…

Given the timeline then, if we are to believe that some Revival book experiments happened before prison then perhaps these instances of enderwalking leading into Dream’s voice is that. Which is different then what I was originally playing around with, that Ranboo was enderwalking before and then Dream somehow tapped into that or met enderboo and they became allies or whatever…

Which begs an interesting question of perhaps hypothetical, how did Dream pick Ranboo to experiment on? - just like imagine Dream reads the letters in exile or finds his memory book and confronts Ranboo to help him remember or maybe because the end is connected to the XD and the book he sought out Ranboo specifically. Or did Ranboo came to him or something, in hopes of getting his memory back, bringing forth enderboo that erased that interaction from his memory while under the hypothesis… I don’t know it’s just interesting… perhaps some of his memories are of the end and how it collapsed and part of Dream, Ranboo, and Punz’s goal is to keep that from happening to the server. But the hypothesis can’t last forever (making it easier to deal with traumatic memories) so he makes his conscious self forget them or something. I don’t know, just some thoughts…

Could you tell me when the first occurrence we know of c!Ranboo enderwalking happened? And also in relation to that, when was the first time c!Dream showed up in his head?

the first occurrence of enderwalking is a tricky thing to pin down, especially since the enderwalk is such a nebulous state and a lot of the times it happened are implied to be off-screen? but i'd say that arguably the first time where we the audience were clued into the fact that Something Is Up that wasn't just ordinary memory loss was during the lead up to doomsday, when c!ranboo first lost his memory book. and y'know what's especially crazy about this moment, which is arguably the beginning of c!ranboo's solo lore? is that it's in the last 20ish minutes of a vod that doesn't even start on the dsmp. wild.

as for the first time the dream voice showed up, i'm like 90% certain that was immediately after doomsday.

I been knew that the opps would do this cuz they are fucking terrified of dream's project. They claw and cause controversy to keep dteam from actually producing content cuz they see content creation as this need to constantly produce crap or you get left behind when dteam's longevity comes from producing genuine quality content so we're willing to wait as long as it takes. and that infuriates these people so they throw fits because they burned their bridges too damn early, they had no idea dream was cooking something this big in the background and if they can't get in on it and leech they'll try to drag the project into the void.

they got bold after pulling usmp down, they think they can do it with this one and oh hell no, it's not happening. nothing they come up with can come close, that's why they're terrified. this isn't just some smp they can throw together with a modpack and call it innovative to compete. dteam has true new tech, and that scares them, so they lash out. cornered rats, the lot of 'em smh

The Saga of Hermitcraft on r/Place (1 April 2022 - 4 April 2022)

On the 1st of April 2022, Reddit unveiled a white blank canvas where every user had the ability to place one colored pixel in every 5 minutes. At its height, about 4 million people participated in one of the biggest internet collaborations ever made. The ripple effects reverberated into news reports as far away as Turkey, and the final canvas represents a snapshot of the multiple communities, events, memes, and what was popular around the world at that time.

This is a documentation of the Hermitcraft mural on r/place 2022.

Remember what I said about my latest ficbind being a distraction? This is what I wanted to be distracted from.

After Reddit's API fiasco of this year and the subsequent controversial event that was r/place 2023, I decided to save as much documentation about the 2022 event as I could. Luckily, I remember how there are already a series of posts by @riacte who documented the progress of the Hermitcraft mural throughout the whole event, from beginning to end. Her blogposts form the bulk of this book (like, 95%!) and I cannot thank her enough for preserving the happenings of the block men mural.

With that said, I quickly realized that someone who's not a Hermitcraft fan - or me if I'm older - might not get the gist of who's who on the mural. The solution? Make several pages dedicated to just listing who's who on the murals! Because of the sheer number of heads, the mural was divided into several pieces for easier labeling. As a bonus, I also threw in another mural nearby which was connected enough to the Hermitcraft community.

For consistency's sake and preserving focus, I decided to not label the peeps from Dream SMP or the MCC secondary mural. Wrangling Microsoft Word to create an infographic was hard enough, let alone 3! If I inadvertently left out a few bits of extra context from this decision, mea culpa.

When it came to typesetting the entire text block, I decided to make some consistent rules. Titles denoting each day or stage of the mural are on their own pages. New sections are titled using the Bahnschrift font and colored blue, while the first paragraph has their beginning lines look Minecraft-coded and topped with a drop cap (aka. those super-large alphabets).

The names of Hermitcraft and Minecraft players in general are bolded when they first appear in the text. Afterwards, they are bolded if they are contextually important to what's being said.

Extra context would be placed in the footnotes section at the bottom of the page. This is also where I dump some background information that would be invaluable for any readers who aren't Minecraft fans, which is why the SpaceX page looked like... uh, that.

My image policy is to go with the flow; I used as many images from riacte's posts as possible, but I also added-in some of my own if more context is needed. Placing them to look smooth with the text was harder - some are small enough to not cause any problems, others are large enough to fill entire pages without any problems, but a few like the Dream SMP mural (hey there! I managed to put you in!) are too wonky to fit perfectly without leaving no empty spaces.

So in that mural's case, I placed them to the side and let the contextual text flow around it. This principle was also used for the Dota2 / Love Live images and in a few other places throughout the book. The biggest case of this are the few images that are just too wide.

Making double-page spreads is not the easiest thing to do in Microsoft Word, and there are a few r/place images that are too wide to fit perfectly in a single page. Confining them to one page would also mean losing all their details, so making them a double-page spread was necessary.

Didn't make it easy though, especially when there are paragraphs of text and other images that needed to be shuffled around. Mess up the double-page images, and they won't meet in the middle. Mess up the text and other pics? There goes the layout and overall flow!

In the end, making this book took a lot longer than I expected, but I am still grateful to have made this as I have now read through many posts from Tumblr, Reddit, and even Youtube - people expressing joy that they have collectively made something together. I can only hope I have made some justice to them by compiling their work and (even if a small sliver) preserving their testaments.

Masterpiece Theater III | A Tribute to the Dream SMP

I’m so happy to finally announce this project in full! This MAP was the largest, most ambitious project I’ve ever done, and I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out!

This massive project will premier on my YouTube channel at 3pm PDT (6pm EDT) on April 24th! I better see all of you there supporting all the amazing artists, the mods, and the editor that helped to make this happen!!

This project was done with love for the story of the Dream SMP as a final send off to something we cared deeply about. Part of that is the fact that this project was started before many of the controversies that now surround this fandom. I am so grateful for these artists for sticking with it despite this all, and that now we can give this a proper good sendoff!

chat I think I might leave the dream smp/mcyt fandom for a while. Thinking about it makes me so much more sadder, the Wilbur situation is STILL a large problem for me and everything feels so much more toxic and mean now. I’ll probably still reblog some stuff abt tommyinnit and less problematic/controversial creators but I won’t be super active in the community anymore. I could just be going through an another depressive “episode” but this sh*t is actually starting to get to me. I get that the Dsmp is kinda coming back but that hasn’t changed anything, it hasn’t FIXED anything.
