The King Salmonid who all Fish Sticks aspire to be. The first Griller to surpass their mortal coils and ascend to a state far more... eldritch. A grotesque autonomous collective and yet a ruler in its own right. The aquatic roi des rats of the whirlpool's roil, whose name shall not be uttered. The worlds worst maypole by far, 0/10.

And yet there are sea creatures far worse, and far scarier, out in the unknown depths... beyond the splendour of the tempest; the sandbank’s luring smile. Encircled by flopping hordes of mindless and amorphous dancers, lulled amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Waiting for their moment.

see the thing abt sysmeds is that they sound exactly like the people a few years ago whining that you cant be trans without having dysphoria. its like these people think you have to be miserable all the time to be "valid". but i dont have (a lot) of dysphoria! i love being a system! i love my headmates!

also, they put way too much trust and confidence in the medical field and what they say right now but things like that always change and update and the medocal field has HISTORICALLY been racist and sexist and a whole bunch of other shit. the dsm is not the fucking bible. there are things in the dsm that are wrong, or things that should be in the dsm that arent.

I really wish the King of Delusion speech was "you could've been a good man, had you been born with no crown" instead of "You could've been a good king, had you ruled in peacetime"

Like, I have more reading comprehension than a rock, I get what El's going for with that (Duscar, the sins of the church, all that jazz, White Clouds was not a world at peace to her, and even if it was the whole speech is a condemnation with a side of guilt she will never acknowledge, the weight of what must be done) but it's still a bit cheeky for the one to declare war to say 'damn, sucks you weren't born in peacetime'

But also. Dmitri wouldn't be a good king in peacetime. It's established time and time again- in his own route, most prominently- that he's got far too gentle and trusting a heart, to be king, and it's only through being plunged into the darkness and guided back into the light he becomes a good one- and even then, it's like. Reading between lines, made fairly clear he's not entirely happy with it?

But he is a good man. All the traits that he has in such excess they become flaws to a ruler, would serve him well without the weight of the crown. (and it comes with bonus 'Is El right, or is she projecting?'points! Bc. Yknow. She never should've been the one to bare the weight of the Empire, and yet, when it's thrust upon her shoulders, she can conceive of no way to put it down except to burn the systems to the ground and remake them anew, so she is no longer needed. Which is. A very underutilised aspect of her character that only gets lightly hinted at but could have been very fun to explore-)
