Nourishing with a Low Appetite: Primary Edition
Inspired by low appetite & a lifelong complicated relationship with nourishment.
Tumblr media
Sufficiently nourishing is critical to wellness and functioning. It can be hindered by disordered thoughts & habits, brain-body disconnect, and low appetite. This list is meant to help with nourishment and weight care!
Many of these get at efficiency. Aim to get in maximum caloric & nutritional value per bite, since you can't take many. > I am not a professional-- just a struggling ND adult trying to put their Bachelor degree in psychology to good use!

Update:
Winter thermos curtains exist but they are pricy, you know what else works? Black out curtains. Am considering testing out cheap fleece blanket from good will made into curtain.
The window kits work but the thing that makes them work isn't the plastic its the damn double sided tape. Works great to keep AC in too.
Pool noodles are foam and they slip under door easily. Cheaper than winter draft stoppers, works great for AC too. Multiple colors. Easy clean. Allows cat to open door if slightly ajar.
Bubble wrap deflates. Boo.
If you got ducts...clean them fools. Stanley Steamers are accredited hvac cleaners. Truck vacuum is stronger than the portable one.
Listen winter duvets exist. They....are amazing and I don't know why I didn't know they existed.
Gotta cover the stupid outdoor spigot or it'll freeze your internal pipes.
Waffle shirts and pants. I didn't know they were specifically made to trap heat. I just thought they were some cheap pj items or undershirts and pants. They are soft, thin and weirdly warm when you later them.
"Winter rugs" come out. I hate rugs. I hate cleaning rugs. I don't like the feeling of rugs. But....they are floor blankets. The law of thermodynamics says heat travels from hot to cold. Aka: The walls are sucking the heat out of the room i don't need the floor to do it too. These things only emphasize my inability to interior decorate.
Hot Water bottle in your bed, stays warm for hours!
How the fuck do I use this putty? I don't understand
What happens when you say "DAMN ITS COLD!" through the years. Kid: Tell parent, house magically gets warmer. Teen: Tell parent, parent tells you to put on more clothes, learn how to use the thermostat. College students: Tell to the cosmos, get no answer, bundle up and wait for campus to turn on the heat. Post Graduate Broke Ass Tenant 1: Tell landlord, they tell you tough shit, because they aint turning it on until they legally have to. Proceed to repeat routine of college dorm life and stuff windows with produce plastic bags. It's not pretty but it works hella well. Broke Ass Tenant 2: Wait it out, then tell landlord its too hot, they tell you tough shit, so you are living in desert heat in winter then get blasted by winter when you step outside. Broke Ass Tenant 3: Stare at the thermostat that you do not know how to work and wondering if it actually works or not. It doesn't really work well so you squirrel away the bubble wrap from work and bubble wrap your windows. Works better if you also stuff your windows with plastic produce bags. Also learn that switching your ceiling fan direction is also a thing. Home ownership: .........................getting anxiety about reading how to winterwize a home, so you resort all the things above except buying 1 window kit to "try it out" and doubting that it will work better than your plastic produce bag-bubble wrap trick. Its prettier......questions if the plastic for the windows reusable for next year, because the bubble wrap is. Wonders if a shower curtain will work better. Wonders if you just buy greenhouse plastic. Realise all this thinking means your windows are not insulated well and none of your ceiling fans have a proper switch to change directions! Wishing you could go back to broke ass tenant, but then realize you are still a broke ass tenant and the bank is basically the landlord and they wont answer your calls.

Getting very tired of Milennials and Gen X being triggered by the word "content". I'm not going to call myself a cosplayer, canon object DIY maker, fan song writer, fanfic writer, fanart and fanzine editor. It's too long. I'm a fandom content creator. I create many things that fall under many categories. "But calling it content means you see it as something to be consumed!" Correct. I want people to consume my ideas and art and writing, digest them, and then go forth and spawn their own ideas, art, and writing. That is 100% the goal. The goal is to make things and bring people joy and maybe make them make things too. "Web 3.0 has brainwashed you!" Cool, cry more. I'll be over here making a replica of the jellyfish hat from the manga that I can wear IRL while you spend your time getting mad about a word.
TBH the angrier people get about it the less inclined I am to listen. It's just one word. As someone who's had actual problems in life - not major, but compared to this, absolutely gargantuan - I just don't see the problem. If the word content triggers you, add it to x-kit and move on like an adult. I'm 21, I don't have time for handwringing about this.
--
Nah. You're a fanworks maker.
If you're a fandom ~content creator~, you're some youtube asshole making reaction videos to shit people wanted to keep to narrower circles.
'Content' is complex and depends a lot on context. 'Content creator' commonly means something fairly clear.
The people crying about how they want to use 'content' and not have anyone roll their eyes at them seem a lot more obsessed with this boring topic than the people going "This word has connotations".

stuck with me II k.cooney cross x reader
"-so i said we would babysit for a few hours." kyra shrugged, dropping two bags onto your bed as you raised an eyebrow. "you mean i'll babysit. when the kids are around you are not the responsible adult in the situation ky." you raised an eyebrow as your girlfriend pulled a face and kissed your cheek.
"don't act like you wouldn't have said yes in a heartbeat. everyone knows you're harleys favorite anyway!" kyra cheesed hitting you where she knew would work, your ego. "can't argue with the facts. what's in the bags?" you sighed and questioned with narrowed eyes as kyra clapped happily.
"i know its not december yet but i thought since we're as close as we'll ever get to being in the snow for christmas and its the last camp for the year we could-" the girl jumped onto the bed and rifled through the bags. "-build gingerbread houses and make ornaments!" she pulled out the boxes with a gleeful grin and you melted at her obvious delight.
"where did you even get these?" you laughed, picking up one of the diy bauble kits and reading through. "kyra! this very clearly says ages 10 and up, harper and harley are not 10!" you warned, eyebrows furrowing at the toxic warning for the glue.
"it's fine babe! we'll be supervising and doing it with them the entire time." kyra waved off your worries, moving onto her knees and knocking the box from your grip, hands pawing at your hoodie.
"baby!" you laughed as she yanked you down onto the bed and hovered over you with a grin, attacking your face with kisses. "now say; thank you kyra. you are so smart kyra, what a great idea kyra!" she demanded cheekily between kisses.
"like the sound of your own name do you cooney cross?" you teased, grabbing the back of her neck and guiding her lips to meet your own, smiling happily at the waves of pleasure which washed over you at the feeling of her soft lips moving against yours.
but the moment was cut short as rapid knocks sounded, all too familiar voices crying out for the door to open as you gently pushed your girlfriend off of you, pecking her pouty lips a few times and watching her face light up as you promised to resume what you started later on.
you'd not even opened the door more than a few centimeters before two tiny bodies barreled inside, darting through your legs with gleeful cheers as kyra dropped down to the floor to grab both young girls in a bear hug.
"thank you for this." katrina sighed gratefully pulling you into a hug, having been called into an unexpected zoom meeting with some perspective new clubs for the afternoon.
"neither of them have napped so they should hopefully crash within the hour." tameka added on, down for press conference duty with tony this afternoon. "please, like ky will let them sleep." you chuckled, the midfielder calling out hello's to both older women who smiled seeing her spinning around both harley and harper in her arms.
"call us if anything happens yeah?" katrina warned as you nodded, promising you would and taking the girls backpacks from tameka as you waved them off, both their daughters yelling out goodbye before the door closed and they were gone.
"and where's my hug?" you gasped, crossing your arms feigning annoyance as both girls tried to scramble for you, kyra trapping harper in her arms as harley leapt her small body off the bed causing you to scramble to catch her.
"i'm like a superhero!" the three year old grinned as you twirled her round, blowing a raspberry to her cheek. "let her go!" you laughed at your girlfriend as harper wiggled and whined in her grip.
"what are we doing today?" harley asked eagerly, jumping up and down on the bed once you placed her back down, scooping up harper and flinging her up and into the air, catching her as the girl giggled.
"well. aunty ky has some cool activities for us to do, but only if you're on your best behavior." you warned with a smile, both girls yelling that they were good over and over as kyra moved to grab the bags. "okay okay! we get it, you're good girls." you laughed, taking harleys outstretched hands and swinging her around like you knew she wanted.
"okay!" kyra clapped for everyones attention as you took a seat on the bed, harley scrambling to sit on your lap as harper tucked herself into your side, making you grin as her little head wedged its way under your arm.
"we're gonna make...." kyra trailed off, drumming her hands on the nightstand as the suspense built. "gingerbread houses!" she yelled happily, causing you to wince as the two girls beside you screeched in delight.
"ky, i really don't think its a good idea to let them eat so much." you warned, harley sat on your lap as harper sat on hers, both of you tucked up against the desk in the corner building your respective gingerbread houses.
you'd watched with a sigh as kyra would every now and then allow both girls to consume a lolly, which eventually escalated into her giving them permission to eat whatever they wanted so long as they left some to decorate with.
"why? it's fine!" your girlfriend waved it off, moving to help harper glue a few candy canes to the roof of their house. polar opposite to theirs, harley had wanted a much more organised look, taking her time to make sure it was neat and tidy which made you smile.
"because kyra, what goes in must come out!" you warned, already starting to see harper perk up a little more. "what? they won't throw up they're little but they're not babies." kyra scoffed with a roll of her eyes, whining as you reached over to sharply pinch her thigh.
"hey! mummy says no pinching." harper piped out with a scowl in your direction as kyra stuck her tongue out at you, dismissing your worries and returning to helping harper as harley bounced in your lap demanding your attention.
turns out, you were of course correct.
"woah woah! where did you get these?" your eyes widened as you scooped up harley and grabbed a pair of craft scissors out of her hand. "found em." the girl beamed, wiggling to be put down as you tucked her under your arm.
"kyra that is a terrible idea." you warned sternly as the midfielder pulled out the ornament making kit.
"no its not it'll give them something to do with their energy." the brunette huffed, practically pinning harper down who was doing her best impression of a lion, teeth nashing and trying to bite the older girl.
"harps no biting!" you groaned, adjusting harley under your arm who was furiously trying to get away. "see what you did!" you scowled at your girlfriend in annoyance, putting harley down and grabbing harper.
"three minutes for biting." you warned, sitting her down in a chair facing the wall. "harper." you repeated in a serious tone as she tried to get up, the toddler sitting back down and crossing her arms frowning adorably.
"kyra!" you whined seeing her setting harley up with a bauble and a glue gun. "you got any better ideas babe?" the girl raised an eyebrow challengingly. "nap time?" you sighed, wincing as two very loud protests were yelled back at you.
"not on the bed." you grabbed harley under her arms and swung her into a chair as kyra moved beside her. "done now?" harper peeked over the top of her own chair as you sighed again. "done biting?" you questioned with crossed arms as harper nodded.
"go on." you gestured for her to get up as she ran over to kyra, climbing up into her lap as you stepped out to go to the bathroom and clear your head, the christmas music kyra insisted on blasting from her phone not helping the chaos.
"see babe? piece of cake!" kyra chirped quietly, nudging her shoulder into yours as the two of you stared down at the pair of sleeping girls in bed. "they're covered in glitter." you sighed running a hand through your hair with a shake of your head.
"occupational hazard, it washes off." kyra dismissed your concerns with a wave. "come on baby. we did good! no one got hurt, nothing got broken, they're safe and fast asleep." kyra pressed a kiss to your cheek as you rolled your eyes.
"high five for top babysitters!" kyra murmured happily, holding up her hand and wiggling her eyebrows. "you are such a child sometimes." you sighed but smacked your hand into hers none the less.
but when you tried to pull away, alarm bells sounded.
"kyra. why is your hand stuck to mine?" you asked calmly, your girlfriend shrinking a little at the question.
"please tell me you washed the glue off." you spoke again, the brunette avoiding your eyes as you pinched the bridge of your nose with your free hand.
before you could say another word there was gentle knocks at the door, your girlfriend hissing a little in pain as you yanked her toward it by your conjoined hands. "hope they weren't any trouble?" katrina smiled, her and tameka moving inside as you and kyra backed off.
"no trouble! never trouble." kyra replied nervously, katrina instantly picking up on the shift in tone, shooting the younger girl a weird look over her shoulder as she picked up a still sleeping harper.
"do some arts and crafts did we?" tameka laughed at the glitter all over harley who stirred. "we'll drop the baubles off once they dry." you smiled nodding to the desk where they sat among a pile of glitter. "they're so cute." tameka grinned, kyra having done her best to help them both write their names.
"really cute." katrina echoed, though her tone conveyed suspicion as you and kyra did your best to hide your conjoined hands. "well we have to shower and get ready for dinner!" you smiled nodding toward the door, tameka thanking you both and promising she owed you one before leaving.
"you right min?" kyra smiled nervously as the shorter woman stared you both down. "fine. what are you two hiding?" she adjusted harper in her arms, eyes narrowing again as you both rambled out nothing. "its my fault." kyra blurted out as you glared and rammed your elbow into her side.
"ky shut up!" "what is your fault?"
"babe!" you groaned as kyra held up your stuck together hands. "i don't get it." katrina frowned on confusion. "they're stuck together. i had glue on my hands and i didn't wash it off and then we high fived and-" her nervous ramblings were cut off by the laughter from the woman in front of you.
"oh my you two are unbelievable. good luck! see you at dinner." with that she quickly left the room, ignoring the two of you calling after her for help.
your girlfriend withered at the glare you fixed her with, the two of you taking a seat on the edge of the bed. "where did you get the kits from?" you asked firmly, your girlfriend stuttering out an answer as you grabbed her phone and did a quick google, which proved to be incredibly challenging with one hand.
punching in the number you dialed the store kyra snuck out to you quickly explained what happened to the manager who assured there was a dissolvent they could order in to arrive tomorrow morning, the canadian clearly unable to hold back his amusement as you thanked him and hung up.
thankfully the game was not until the weekend as you explained the situation to kyra, the blunt tone of your voice meaning she knew exactly how pissed off with her you were.
"baby." you turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow. "what?"
"there's no one i'd rather be stuck with than you?"

If your taking requests, I liked to see your sonic and tails if they were closer to their actual animal size difference.

Doodle Request #5!
You have no idea what you've done. This doodle request has made me spiral into making my own self indulgent au.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've never more times in my life used 'cause I want to' as an excuse for something. This entire au is just self indulgent fluff. At first, I looked at the request and went 'oh, they probably don't realize how small hedgehogs are or how big baby foxes are.' and then I was like 'okay, but Mobian'. AND THEN I was like 'okay, but it'd be funny if Sonic was like- almost an adult in this drawing.' and it just spiraled into this. I want to make so many more doodles of this au FUCK.
So everything isn't set in stone yet, aside form their ages I think.
Amy is 19, she's studying to become a teacher. She works at a daycare.
Sonic is 22, he picks up odd jobs where ever he travels in his van.
Tails is 8, he also picks up odd jobs, but more mechanically centered ones (and way less jobs because Sonic will not allow the kit to overwork himself).
Knuckles is 23, he guards the Master Emerald still, but he also is a pro at arts and crafts (mostly pottery).
I know I wrote 'plane' in the doodles (if you can even read them, my handwriting is a nightmare there), but I was originally thinking van that Tails later modifies into a plane-van combo.
Do they have powers? Yes. Because I want them to. Are there magical gemstones? Yes. Because I want there to. Is Eggman trying to take over the world? Eh, I don't think so. I like chill vibes, plus how is Sonic gonna beat up a Motobug if he isn't even as tall as the tire? Why are they wearing clothes? Because I want them to! Why is everyone but Tails aged up? BECAUSE I WANT THEM TO (and it's funny to me).
Sonic and Tails live in a van (that he stole) and travel around. Sure, Sonic has super speed (he's not afraid of showing it off), but he just likes driving (he had to diy an entire system just so he could drive). Plus, it's fortunate that he stole that van, because carrying around supplies needed for a toddler already twice your size when you met them is definitely not light.

I know that Andrei is literally the cutest girl dad in the world, but He's also a boy dad so I imagine doing things with Dimitri like.
-buying first hockey kit
-teaching him how to play hockey
-Fishing trips with Uncle Geno
-🎀
okay i feel like i don’t give boy dad drei enough attention! but that changes now! 🥰
so andrei isn’t the kind of guy that needed to have a son, like he would’ve been just as happy with four girls or five girls, but when dimitri is born, he’s really really thrilled
there’s something about being able to pass his name down to his son and get to be a boy dad that’s really special
he has a great bond with all the kids, but you love seeing him with his sons
andrei’s always talking to them about growing up to be good men and respectful of women and people in general
when it’s just dimitri, he and geno joke that they’re gonna get t-shirts for the “svechnikov boys club” and they both love hanging out with their sons - at this point i picture geno with kids too (like a girl and a boy because he doesn’t have the same breeding kink that you and andrei have lol)
then two years later maks joins the party and andrei is just beyond thrilled to have two sons and he wants to make sure that they’re as close as he and geno are but you know you can’t force a brotherly relationship
luckily, they are really really close and it’s adorable to see their little matching blond heads bent together while they conspire against their big sisters
andrei loves taking all the kids onto the hockey rink for skates with dad, but when the boys express interest in playing hockey, you think he’s going to die of excitement
you let him had full run of buying the gear and practicing with them - he’s a little bummed when neither one wants to play forward, but you know it’s probably for the best so that neither is directly compared to andrei or geno
the three of them love to play wrestle when the boys are young and they play floor hockey before playing real hockey
andrei retires when the kids are still young-ish so he brings them to canes’ games at least 2-3 times a month
he’s never missed a school event or a sporting event or major milestone, unless he’s playing an away game and can’t avoid it
they learn how to do diy home projects or work on the cars together
andrei teaches all five kids how to drive because you’re way too nervous to do it and honestly, he’s not the best driver in the world either, so you’re mildly concerned that you’re sending five terrible drivers onto the road, but he does a really good job of it and all five make it their first year of driving without getting any tickets or into any accidents
every year andrei and geno take the the three sons on a week long fishing trip. sometimes igor joins them, but usually it’s just fathers and sons and you always love getting the pictures that andrei sends when one of the boys manages to catch a fish that’s bigger than their whole body
after the week, they all come home dirty and salty and smelling vaguely of fish, but they’re always beaming with happiness and andrei always has this look in his eyes and you know that they’re all going to carry the memories for the rest of their lives
and they do - eventually andrei becomes the grandpa on the trip and dimitri and maks bring their sons on the fishing trip and it’s just really cute all around
when the boys get drafted to different states (and countries, in dimitri’s case) they’re constantly calling and texting andrei for advice and guidance
both boys idolise andrei and geno and look up to them. andrei’s their favorite person in the world and they both just want to do him proud
your greatest achievement is the relationship you both have with all five kids and the fact that they’ve grown up to be generous, respectful, ambitious adults with huge hearts and love for the family - they all call home regularly and travel to see each other and have an amazing bond
he’s also made it clear to all five kids that either one of you will pick them up from any situation, no matter what, no judgement passed. he’s only had to do it once, picking up maks from a party that got out of control through no fault of his own. the kids are generally well behaved and avoid potentially messy situations
importantly, he’s never treated the boys any different from the girls. they’re all loved exactly equally and he’s never shown favoritism to the body simply because they’re boys

DIY Desmond Miles Jacket
Hey folks! I've been wanting to make this jacket as a gift for my boyfriend (🤫), and noticed there really aren't a lot of good resources online, so... I suppose I'll be the resource!
I'll try to make this as beginner-friendly as possible, since I know this might be some of y'all's first project :)
(Just the materials for now! Check under the cut :])
Materials:
A pattern! This is the first thing you'll need, since it might give you an idea of what fabrics to look for. A few features don't exactly matter, since we'll be editing them anyway. For instance, I'm using this free hoodie pattern, which includes a large front pocket and slim hood, but no zipper. I'll explain later how to edit the pattern toward what's needed, but as long as it's the right size and has a hood, you should be okay.
Tumblr media
Fabrics. You'll need a white fabric for the outer shell (mine is knit), a ribbed knit fabric for the cuffs and hem (also white), and a red fabric for the lining (I'm using some ITY — also knit, but it's light and stretchy). Hoodies generally take 2-3 yards of fabric for adult sizes (each layer), and you may need a second layer of white fabric so the red doesn't show through. You'll probably only need about half a yard of your cuff fabric, but if you (like me) can only find it in multi-yard precut rolls, it's okay to use the rest as your middle layer. Just keep in mind that using a knit fabric will make the jacket warmer, as will using rib-knit. (Texture traps heat!) [If you're making the version from Revelations, use black for your shell and cuff fabrics, and anything (or nothing!) for the middle layer. Where this guide says "white", remember you'll need black instead.]
Tumblr media
Zippers. You'll need a white zipper for the front, two short metal zippers for the pockets, and a zipper of your choice for the hood. (You can also forgo the zipper here if you wish.) As for lengths, it won't be one-size-fits-all, so make sure to measure your pattern in the zipper locations. (You may want to wait until your pattern is done to buy your zippers!)
Tumblr media
General kit! You'll need scissors, clear tape, needles, white thread, white embroidery floss, and pins, as well as a measuring tape (the ribbon kind!), a straightedge, and a pencil. These sorts of things are good to keep around if you sew regularly, and experienced sewists may have most of these already. If you don't, most of these can be found in prepackaged sewing kits, and the rest are relatively cheap.
Tumblr media
Go forth, my pupils! Gather your materials! I'll be back with another post soon :)

hey, do you have any advice for people who want to wear and make DIY punk stuff but their parents probably would frown upon it?
asking for me, thanks.
Honestly, first thing would just be to kinda gage their opinions to see how much freedom you’ll have to work with. Even just showing a picture of a more tame battle jacket and being like ‘this looks cool, do you think one day I’ll have the skills to make my own cool jacket?’ Is a good way to indicate that you want to make stuff without saying that you wanna make specifically punk styled things
Another good way to just broach the subject of DIY is asking a parent if they could give you some sewing tips. Most parent aged adults had a sewing class in school and they always seem amazed when I tell them that the extent of my sewing knowledge from public school was how to sew a button. When they ask why you’ve developed an interest in sewing, just say that you think its a vital life skill to have. And I mean, it is! What happens if you are at some important event and your outfit rips?? Having an emergency sewing kit and the skills to use it can save a night
You could also just start with DIY that isn’t necessarily strictly punk, but can be used in punk outfits. Tie dye, bead bracelets, print making, embroidery. All very normal things that are very useful in punk diy
And honestly the more diy you do, the less anyone will question it. One day tie dye, the next week youre sewing a hole in your pants, and then you’ve made a patch!? Eventually you’ve built up a collection of safety pins and you can add those to things too. But yeah, in my experience, the best way to deal with parents who may be iffy on the whole diy thing is to start basic and ask them for tips and suggestions on things. You dont have to listen to them, but when they feel like they have input and their opinions are valued, they become a lot more open to things. And actually, when I started DIY, my dad was the one who taught me how to sew after learning I never was taught how in school
Other’s input is welcome in the notes, but from my experience this is a pretty good method (at least for working/middle class parents that aren’t complete assholes)
