Let's talk about the Art Deco in Transformers One.

Me, a 23-year-old Visual Arts student going into my 7th semester, thought it'd be cool to share this artistic and cultural curiosity present in the movie.

According to the movie director, Josh Cooley (click here to watch), Iacon city was built inspired by Art Deco and it is like a robot style!

But first of all: What is Art Deco?

The term “Art Deco” comes from the French term “Arts Décoratifs” which means Decorative Arts.

It was a popular design movement that emerged in the 1920s and flourished until the 1930s, in France. It influenced various art forms, including architecture, interior design, fashion, painting, sculpture, and graphic arts.

The starting point was the “International Exhibition of Decorative and Industrial Arts”, which took place in Paris in 1925. Initially, Art Deco was an art form aimed at the post-war bourgeoisie, using expensive materials.

However, with the Art Deco Exhibition held in New York in 1934, this style became popular throughout the world.

What are its characteristics?

Art Deco heavily utilized geometric shapes like chevrons, zigzags, and stylized sunbursts. These shapes were often used to create intricate patterns and designs. It also embraced luxurious materials such as chrome, stainless steel, and exotic woods. These materials were used to create a sense of opulence and sophistication.

Bold Colors: It featured bold and vibrant colors, often used in contrasting combinations. Gold, silver, and black were also popular choices.

Streamlined Forms: often featured streamlined forms, inspired by the machine age and the concept of speed and efficiency.

Exotic Influences: Art Deco drew inspiration from various cultures, including ancient Egypt, Aztec, and Mayan civilizations. These influences can be seen in the use of stylized motifs and patterns.

But how Art Deco is represented in the movie?

It was "estrategically-acidentally" chosen for both architecture and history. As mentioned above, the gold, gray and black are the main colours for this kind of art. They convey richness, power, cleanliness (the primes are seen by cybertronians this way just as Egyptian royalty was seen by their subjects, for example).

So. I have brought some examples of the Art Deco pattern:

If you look closely, these buildings are very similar to Iacon's:

This entrance hall in one of the New York City skyscrapers (for example) has the same interior design as the main room in the Iacon Golden Tower. The luxury liners showcase elegance, richness and sophistication of Art Deco.

Leo

Just like with his brothers, Leo would be protective of you, keeping an eye on everything to make sure you're safe and doing the right thing. Don't matter you go, he'll follow. He's watching everything. Even April and the brothers commented that he was exaggerating, but Leo knows what he's doing. He knows the responsibility of looking after younger brothers. After all, he spent years of his life looking after his young brothers and making sure none of them step out of line;

Leo will immediately stop what he's doing and take you to bed when you feel tired. "Can you tell me a story, Lee?", you'd ask. And, of course, he would accept;

One day you asked him to teach you some basic Ninjustu moves. Leo got worried at first because you're too young to do such complexed moves. He thought long and hard before putting his first ideas into practice, with the help and supervision of his father, of course. From time to time, Leo would ask Master Splinter for help for the reason that the savvy mutant old rat taugh all four brothers this kind of Martial Art while they were children. All by himself;

Did you just trip and hurt your knee? The leader appeared out of nowhere to support you with antiseptic ointment and antiseptic cream (thanks to Donnie);

Leo is that kind of brother who is very protective of his family, mainly you. He'd be there to avoid anything or anyone that might want to cause you harm;

Mikey

If you're looking for someone who's even funnier and will make you laugh, look no further than Mikey. For you, there’s no one in the world who could ever match his easygoing nature, because to you, he seems effortlessly laid-back in a way no one else could ever be. 

You like when he teaches you how to make Graffiti (Legally. He would never encourage you to make it in innapropiate places, after all, they were educated and taught about the laws);

You once asked him to help and teach you to fill an old brick wall with Graffite, a task that requires precision and care. He didn't think twice before say 'yes!'. Mikey even agreed to make a temporary Japanese symbol on your small shell. You're glad that he suggested you to use Gouache paint because you changed your mind very soon;

Unlike Leo, Mikey says 'yes' to you for everything;

He once taught you to retrait inwards your shell. It wasn't a pleased very first experience, but you soon got the knack of it;

Splinter followed his orange-clad son's Nunchaku class that he'd been wanted to teach you. The old rat warned his son that you're too young to handling such a difficult weapon, but after his insistence, he gave in;

Before bedtime, Mikey, tells a story about pizza. An amazing one, of course!;

When you're feeling sad or anxious, Mikey is there to support you and make you laugh. He hates seeing you down because he knows how it affects you both.

He'd do evrything to make you happy. He'd do everything to make you included and protected in every situation because he loves you so much;

Raph

Those who look tough on the outside are often kind at heart, but sometimes you wonder why your hot-head brother is always grumpy or with a grim expression-maybe that's just who he is, or he has seen everything he witnessed things that left him that way;

But he doesn't let his bad behavior or traumas affect you when you're around. Everything that happened to him, and with the others, is not your fault. Did he just have a bad day? Raph wouldn't descount his anger at you, of course. This wouldn't be fair.

He might overstep boundaries now and then, mainly with your brothers, taking risks and pushing limits without a second thought, but every move he makes comes from the same place: a heart that only wants to see you happy. If it means standing against the world for your smile, he’ll do it without hesitation;

One day, you went to your red-clad brother gym area in one of the big pipes in the main space of the area. Instead of seeing him working out, you caught him knitting. Poor boy, he didn't know what to say, but you didn't care-on the contrary, you think it is amazing;

From now on, knitting clases are in your routine. Raph even told you how he got into knitting: Hashi. What used to be a punishment him, it's now a hobbie. Even for you!;

If someone messed with you, oh Gosh, this person must be prepared for his revenge. No one has the right to take advantage of you just because you're young and vulnerable;

Raph can't imagine anything bad happening to you, to any of you all because he loves his family and would protect you all to the death;

Donnie

You have to admit it: Donnie is a lifesaver of the family. Absolutely everything in their Lair comes from his genius ideas: the Tartaruga Brothers truck, their lights, their security system, their tech stuff like TV and computers, even their medical care;

But for you, Donnie is more than a head-genius: he is your beloved brother, like the others, of course. He was there when you ended up hurting your knee badly, he was there to calm you down when you had a panick attack-he knows damn well how it feels-he was there to give you support in everything;

And he shall be;

Donnie only allow you to watch him work on his projects and making him questions, a lot of questions. Of course, he instructs you to keep a safe distance of a few meters when it comes to strong chemicals or anything related to danger.

He allowed you to watch him while he was reforming the garbage truck. You were so interested in his creation that you asked everything which came to mind. You really enjoy learning from him;

After several conversations with Master Splinter, he gifted you a weapon of your choice on your last birthday, claiming that you need to learn some important ninjustsu movements at your age-as they started very young too;

When it comes to protect you, he becomes unstoppable, stepping into that protective mode without a second thought, ready to fight the world if it means keeping you safe, and it had impressed even his family and friends.

In fights against the crime, he is a badass. But when it's about to protect you, he's gonna turn into their worst nightmare. All this because he loves you so much;

Donnie's nimble fingers type quickly on the keyboard as he follows his research on the computer screen in front of him, his geeky mind racing while tries to focus on what matters. Or at least try to.

He has recently been experiencing significant self-consciousness regarding his physical appearance, which has led to considerable distress and a sense of dissatisfaction. He doesn't know exactly why it had been bothering him. Although the brothers had struggled for years to accept each other as they are, they had managed to overcome that. Yet, Donnie was still struggling.

After long hours of researching without fiding anything plausible, Donnie lets out a deep sigh, pressed the off button and lifted his glasses, rubbing the area between his eyes.

And then put his glasses back and looks directly at his reflection on the black screen.

"Hey, Donnie. I-", you stopped straight away as soon as you noticed your friend acting weirdly. He's standing still, staring at the switched-off screen, as if hypnotized by something on it. You took a few steps closer and noticed he was looking at his reflection. "Are you okay?..."

The whirlwind of thoughts dissipated with your voice calling him. "Oh- Hey, Y/N", Donnie shifted in his seat. "I am. I was just... searching some stuff for my next project".

You have to admit that he's not good at lying, and you know exactly what's going on. "Searching on a computer turned off?" you asked as if it was obvious.

"I...", Donnie heaved another sigh, turning the chair towards you. "I feel I'm not-", he stopped suddenly.

You walked closer slowly, starting to get worried. "You don't feel you're not what? What happened, Donnie?"

At that very moment, he slowly lowers his head, his gaze dropping to the ground as an unsettling silence wraps around him. It's clear that something is gnawing at his mind, something so heavy and overwhelming that the mere thought of giving it a voice terrifies him. Donnie clings to that silence, as if speaking a single word might cause everything he's holding inside to come crashing down."

You pick a stool that was next to the table where the laboratory chemicals were stored, and sit down in front of him, touching his shoulder. "Donnie, what happened?".

He took a few minutes till lift his gaze, looking at you with shame. "I don't feel good about not being normal, ya know".

You lift an eyebrow. "What?".

"Look at me", he pointed at himself. "I'm so weird. So tall. Like-".

"Donnie".

"Back at the Key of the City Ceremony, I heard some of the policemen whispering about me, saying that I'm the strangest of my brothers-".

"Donnie. Don't-"

"I so weird. So... ugly. I don't think if I, one day, have a normal life on the surfece I'd have someone who would even like me-".

"Donatello!", you raised your voice a bit, calling his attention which made him stop with the self-judgment. "First of all: fuck off what others think or say about you". Without realizing it, you placed your hand over his. "You have to think that everybody is different".

He looked down at your hand over his.

"You are an amazing person, Don. You have no idea. There are no problems being tall, on the contrary, it must be very awesome".

His eyes drew back at yours.

You couldn't help but admire them. "You're not ugly. You're not weird. You're just you; so intelligent, cute and handosme at same time". Suddenly, you come to an abrupt halt, your words still lingering in the air like echoes you can't take back. A wave of realization crashes over you as the weight of what you’ve just said settles in. It wasn’t just a slip, it was a confession; raw and undeniable, something you weren't ready to reveal, at least not like this. Not now.

But it happened, which took him of surprise.

You both were stared at each other for a while, not daring to speak first until someone mustered the courage to do so. Your heart was beating rapidly, berating yourself in your mind for saying what couldn't say so early.

"You...", Donnie finally spoke.

You started to get nervous. "Donnie, I can explain-".

"Explain?", he asked calmly, but still not believing what he just heared.

You immediately wanted to pull your hand away, the impulse so strong it almost made you flinch, but Donnie held you back with a grip that was both firm and deliberate. Now your eyes were locked, the stunning golden hazel of him clued to yours.

"You mean that?", he asked softly. "Did you really mean that?".

You blushed, nodding, still not brave enough to speak.

Now he is the one who is blushing. A lot. "But don't you think I'm ugly? Weird? Not even a little?"

You let out a giggle. "No, Don. Not even a little".

All the fear you carried about telling him the truth has vanished, replaced by a flood of lightness and overwhelming relief and it made him understand that someone really sees him for who he is; admired and accepted, not judged as a freak or a monster.

And, for the first time, he could see, and hear, that you like him. That you love him.

TMNT Fun Facts #Moment

The Brazilian Day in New York City is coming up next month (August 31th) and, due to this special date in the mutant turtles' home, I wanted to share something cool about TMNT: Out of The Shadows (2016). If you're a brazilian (like me), you've certainly noticed some of these details.

1 - I believe you already know it but Vernon's girlfriend, Alessandra, is one of the most famous models in real life: Alessandra Ambrosio is from Brazil. She played herself in the movie.

2 - There were three brazilian film professionals in the team (according to my searching).

Lula Carvalho (Director of Photography) is one of the main members of the film's technical team. His job is being responsible for the visual aesthetics: lighting, framing, camera movement, etc. He worked in both Bayverse TMNT movies, as well as Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2, RoboCop, and several brazilian movies.

Sandro Galvão (Camera Operation): he was part of the second unit team as a “B-camera” cameraman, specifically for the scenes shot in Brazil, at the Iguazú Falls where the turtles tried to stop Bebop and Rocksteady. He also worked in Black Mirror and many brazilian movies, like Lula Carvalho.

Daniel Duran (Camera Stabilizer Technician): Also was in the same team as the second unit, he worked as a stabilized head technician for the shoot in Brazil. Daniel also worked in Paddington 2, Glass (2019), and other movies. Unfortunatelly I couldn't find a picture of him.

3 - The movie was partly shot in two places in Brazil: Iguazú Falls and Manaus.

At the Iguazú Falls, a second unit team was responsible for action scenes - director Dave Green led this segment, under the supervision of Tambellini Filmes (brazilian independent film and audiovisual production company). Lula Carvalho, Sandro and Daniel were present in that production.

Also, they used CGI (Click here to watch it). Starts on minute 1:35.

(P.S: Iguazú Falls is NOT located in Manaus. That tourist attraction belongs to Paraná state, and Manaus is the capital of Amazonas state) It is not clear in the movie, which caused misinformation. Bebop and Rocksteady found that portal piece in Manaus (North), but their fight against the turtles happened at the Iguazú Falls (South). Brazil is a colossal country, therefore they were far away from Manaus.

Sorry for being annoying, but it doesn't make any sense. How did they all end up in the southern region of Brazil if Bebop and Rocksteady were returning to NYC from Manaus and the turtles were on their way from New York? I think Dave Green forgot that detail, but it doesn't matter. Their fight was amazing!

Also, Manaus is not just a rainforest. It's a beautiful city:

4 - This last topic is not truthful, as I found no information on it. It's merely an observation of mine. Anyone who has seen the movie will remember that incomparable and badass truck:

"Tartaruga Brothers" is written in yellow on both sides of the truck, but I couldn't find out if Donnie got it from Brazilian Portuguese, Italian or Galician ("Tartaruga" means "turtle" in these three languages). I've read "Tortuga" or "Tartarugo" on a few News Sites, but it's wrong. It's Tartaruga.

The first time I watched this scene, I thought Donnie drew inspiration from Brazil to paint the truck green and yellow, the same colors that represent the country. Was it a coincidence? I'm not sure, but I like that a lot.

Let's say the "baby" brother is already used to a grampy or hot-temper person in his life. After all, he's lived with one since birth. But then you arrived to his family and his life.

One day, Mikey was in the main space eating pizza and some snacks till saw you aproaching. Clearly, you're furious about something that made him uncomfortable. He stopped chewing immediately, thinking of all the things that could set you off.

"Michelangelo", you called in a sharp tone, striding in rage toward him.

Oh, no. You said his full name. The poor boy didn't know what to do. He tried to move, but his muscles couldn't even respond to his call for help feeling. "Um- Yes, angekca-".

You came to a sudden halt just centimeters from his face as grab his fat cheeks, and stared deep into his baby-blue eyes.

Mikey started at you back, fear expressed like he was about to die.

"Do you know what have you done?"

He shook his head in refusal.

"You're so damn cute", you started to pepper his cheeks and face with many kisses that he couldn't help but giggle. "My cute boy, How *kiss* can *kiss* you *kiss* be *kiss* like *kiss* that? *kiss* So *kiss* adorable?".

Suddenly all the tension disappeared with every kiss you gave. His heart melted with all the attention and care you're giving to him.

"I thought you were angry at me." he commented as you squeeze his cheeks.

"I never can be angry at you. It is impossible to me. Look at you!"

Mikey smiled like a puppy. "Well, you have that cute agression thing, don't you?".

You looked at him, smiling back. "Indeed I do!".

The next few minutes you both shared a cute moment only you know. He loves you so much.

Author's note: I had this idea shortly after I watched the movie in the theater. I don't know exactly how 'cycles' works in Transformers One, therefore I used 'month'.

The silence in the room made you shiver with fear, the fear of what he was about to decide. Was he going to abandon you? Or punish you?

Your mind races with negative thoughts.

Moments before, the two of you were having a rather unpleasant conversation. It wasn't the news Sentinel wanted to receive so soon. He had planned so much for his time ruling Iacon, deciding what was best for you and the luxuries he would provide. However, since the death of the 13 Primes in the war against the Quintessons and the rise to power of a new Prime — your husband — everything has changed.

Sentinel turned and walked slowly towards one of the open spaces in the golden main room. He stared at the city, where light illuminated some areas while shadow covered others. His angelic form stood out in the light, casting a long shadow across the room. Everything around you seems to have stopped in time; your eyes focused only on him. The way the daylight cast every gleam of gold and blue onto his angelic silhouette made you feel as though you were in paradise.

Suddely, memories of times gone by flash through your mind like scenes from a film. Back then, you worked in the administrative area of the Golden Tower.

You weren't even married yet.

You had only just begun to get to know each other a few cycles before the death of the Primes. The first time you saw each other, the first time he struck up a conversation, the first time you both went out and... well. It doesn't matter now.

A pang of guilt hit you hard. 'Everything we've been through and planned can't be wasted. I won't allow it'. Your mind was so immersed in thoughts that you hadn't noticed your husband standing in front of you.

"Love", his voice sounded calm. "Love, I-".

"I want to abort it".

His body stiffened instantly.

You stared at each other for a long time. These words came out of your mouth automatically. Deep down, you didn't want to say it, but you felt like you had to. The future both of you want cannot be ignored. Caring for a Sparkling was something that was thought about but didn't plan for. Now that everything was going so well, it was an impossibility.

But accidents do happen.

"Abort it?", his voice was low. His eyes revealed something you'd never seen before.

Outrage.

"Why... Why did you say that? Why did you even- Never say it again. Do you understand me?".

Suddenly, the tornado of thoughts dissipated. Everything became confused. Did you really hear what he just said? "But… I thought you were frustrated. We had made so many plans for the future-", your concern stops as feel his finger touching your lips.

"Don't ever think that I don't want our Sparkling. Ever again".

Your blue optics began to fill up with tears.

Sentinel's hand moved up to your chin, lifting your face to look at him. "You know I love you, right?".

You just nodded.

"And our Sparkling too, right?".

You nodded again.

"Forgive me for my reaction earlier, my love. The news that you're pregnant caught me off guard", he leaned over and kissed you tenderly. "I'm going to give our Sparkling a dignified life, and prepare it to succeed me. I'll make you be proud."

You feel very relieved to hear your husband's beautiful words, but at the same time, you expect his words to match his actions.

He kissed you again. "So, what name can we give our child?"

You chuckled a bit. "It's probably too small, Sen."

"No problem. We have time enough to decide it", he circles one arm around your waist and with the other, holds your hand. "Now, back to the point before you gave me the biggest fright of my life..."

You gave him a sidelong glance.

He gulps, but giggles shortly after. "I prepared a surprise for you. My sunshine".

"What surprise?", you smiled.

"One you asked me for a lot", Sentinel touches your belly and rubs carefuly. "And I'm sure our child will enjoy it."

You got what does he means. "Wait... That fresh Energon mousse cake? Those which were prepared for that feast we had last week?". Now you understand why you enjoyed those sweets very much. You were already pregnant, but didn't know that yet.

He nods, sharing a big smile down at you. "I noticed you were delighting those sweets a lot and send my best Chefs to make them."

Suddenly a brief bad feeling hit you. "Sen...", you stopped, without letting go of his hand. The shame you're feeling cannot be described. "About that abor- um... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have-".

"Hey", he pulled you closer. "It's not your fault. I have to ask you for apologies because I made you feel horrible after my-".

"Hey", you cupped his cheek. "It's okay. I forgive you. It is in the past".

"Lee?" a young and soft voice called in dark of the room.

It's been a while since Leo went to sleep after putting their sibling to sleep. In this family, everyone is responsable for taking you to bed. He groaned and opened his tired eyes, trying to get them used to dark.

"Lee?". The young voice called again, making the turtle let out a hum. "Y/N?".

Leo turned on a lamp next to his bed. "Y/N... W-What happened?". He checked the small digital clock positioned below the lamp. 2 pm.

"I had a nightmare", you whispered, eyes filling with tears. Leo knew what you were talking about, and he doesn't blame you — he can't get angry, at all The same thing happened to him and his brothers when they were your age. He remembers going to Splinter's quarters or his brothers' rooms to find comfort after waking up from the worst nightmare.

"Come here", he crawls over to the corner of the bed, lifts the blanket and nods for you to snuggle in. "Whatever that nightmare was like, it's over now; nothing was real".

"But... if it's not?".

He smiled as cover you under the cosy blankets. "Nothing and no one will hurt you. Do you know why?"

You shook your head.

"Because I will always be there to kick their butts".

You giggled.

Leo spends the next few minutes recounting a story that Master Splinter used to tell when the brothers were the same age as you. As soon as the story ended, he looked down at you and see that you were already asleep. He smiled, relieved to see that you're feeling safe.

"We love you so much, Y/N. You have no idea."

A long workout is all Raph needed after days of looking after criminals. Ever since the Foot Clan started rampaging, life has been tough. They found out you'd joined the mutant family and they've been on the warpath ever since. And that makes you nervous, having constantly bad dreams in the night.

Now, after a shower, he is lying down in his bed reading a magazine since sleep hasn't come yet. Through his peripheral vision, he notices a small silhouette approaching cautiously. "Y/N?". He sits up as notices your frightened face. "What happened?".

You hug him. "I- I had a nightmare".

"That nightmare again?...".

You nodded.

Raph carefully picks you up and puts you next to him on his bed. "Nothing of this was real, okay?". Nothing can describe how safe and secure you feel with your big brother around. Whatever lurks there seems afraid to come forward.

You said nothing, only just snuggled closer to him to feel protected. "There were monsters. Many of them. They-".

"Hey", he called your attention. "I won't let anyone hurt ya, Y/N. Ya know that, right?"

You nooded again as feel his strong arms circlin around you as a fortress.

"What you saw in that stupid nightmare cannot hurt ya. You're safe with me. You're safe with our family".

Just after that, he picked your favourite toys and teddy-bears magazine and read it for you. You both had fun for the next hour.

Till you fell asleep on him.

He smiled down at you.

"I love you, Y/N. I'd do everything to make you feel safe". He may be a giant, scary and strong ninja, but when it comes to protecting his family, nothing and no one can stop him.

He looked up and saw Mikey standing a few meters away, staring back at you two. Raph knew the assingment. He mentioned his baby brother to join them. Even the orange-clad turtle isn't the youngest anymore, he's still their baby brother.

Now they have two baby siblings in the family.

Your footsteps are light as you walk through the damp cement of the Lair, darkness taking over every corner. Only a few lights here and there flashed or illuminated a small part, but it wasn't enough. As you walk through the large place, there are muffled snoring sounds coming from where the orange-clad turtle is sleeping.

As you got closer to that particular space, the snores got louder. "Mikey?", your young voice echoed through the space, but not loud enough to wake the others. Taking a few steps closer to his bed, you called again. "Mikey?". Frustrated, you poked your brother to try to wake him up. It worked, but it startled him.

"What-Where?! HUH?- Oh, Y/N?", he moved awkwardly around the bed until he found the lamp. "Wha-What happened?"

You could see his eyes squished because of the light.

"I had a nightmare". Tears started to fall.

"Oh, my little one. Come here". He gestured for you to climb in. Mikey lifts his thick colorful mini pizza pattern blanket, the best blanket among the brothers' in your opinion.

The next several minutes you both spend talking about your favourite pizza flavours and the many ways to defeat a monster. Every types of monsters and tips to fight them. "Remember what Simba said when he and Nala were at the elephant cemetery?" Mikey asked as a big smile paints his round face.

You shake your head a "no".

"I laugh in the face of danger! HAHAHA"

You laughed, making the brother's heart warm. This is what he wants to see from you. This is what he wants to do: make you laugh, feel safe and loved. After a few minutes, e notices you were snoring very low.

He smiled, stroking your hair softly. "Good night, Y/N".

You woke up with a start after the worst nightmare you've had till now. Panting and almost crying, you made some effort to get up. Those monsters and ghosts never leave you alone in your dreams.

It's late night and everybody is sleeping, well, you thought all of them were. You notice that the lights in the lab and the many monitors are on, and, as you look more closely, you notice your nerd brother is there. "Donnie!" you called as get closer to the computer station. The nerd is sleeping with his head resting between his arms. "Don!". As soon as you started to shake him, Donnie wakes up. His glasses almost falling from his nose.

"Don-" you sobbed, lifting your arms, begging him to pick you up.

He made a worried face. "Y/N? What's going on? Why are you crying?". Pulling you to his lap, he dries your tears. "Tell me... What happened?".

"I-", you sobbed even more. "I had that bad nightmare".

The purple-clad turtle lets out a Oh and puts his arms around you. "Don't be afraid, Y/N. It's just your mind playing tricks on you. I told you about it, remember?", he runs his finger on your hair slowly. "What you saw in your nightmare is fake".

"But- Why it feels so real?"

Donnie hugs you tighter this time. When he was at your age, he used to have nightmares too and ran to Splinter for comfort, and he'll share the same care he, and his brothers, received. He understands you very well.

Blaming or not caring about your feelings is something he'd never do. You're a child. Their sibling. His sibling. Someone to share a true fraternal love.

"Hey, I have an idea".

You looked up at him, not getting what he means.

Donnie gets up from his chair as he carries you and takes you to his room. "I'm going to tell you a story that I used to hear when I was a child: the story of a candy neighborhood".

You stopped sobbing.

He smiles as adjusts his blankets till cover you fully. "There were many houses in this neighborhood. One made of cake, another made of cookie, and several others made of everything sweet you can imagine.", he couldn't help but chuckle a bit at your curious face. "In one of these houses, there is a mini milk bread sofa with marshmallow cushions. The room is full of PopTart frames, a large chocolate TV, a crystalline sugar chandelier, and the decoration made of lots and lots of M&Ms and candies".

He noticed how hard you were trying to stay awake.

"The kitchen has four kitchen faucets. One pours soda, the other orange juice, the other a very creamy chocolate milk and the last one pours... Hum... What do you think?"

You think for a moment. There are many options you couldn't choice a first. Then... "Limonade!".

"Yes! Limonade! A perfect choice!".

As your big brother keeps with the story, you eyes close little by little. The warm and comfort slowly leaving you in a state of peace, the security that your brothers transmit seems to make everything bad suddenly disappear like magic.

Even with you asleep, donnie didn't stop with the story because he knew you were dreaming with it. You soft smile says everithing.

"Good night, Y/N". He leans down and kisses your forehead lightly. "I love you".
