I know that everyone stims, but I wanted to get a sample size from autistic people specifically. Also, I know there are non-vestibular stims involving other senses (such as hearing or sight) but I'm just talking about vestibular (movement) stims right now.

I walked past one of those coin operated machines with the capsules that have toys inside earlier and I thought "Damn, I wish I could have one of those" and then I remembered I'm an adult with adult money and a surplus of coins in my pocket.

hate how people assign sensory tools as childish , and then companies only make designs for kids . some people do make " adult sensory toys " but seem to mostly be jewellery pieces , which …

anyone can use chewables , popits , squishies , whatever . but seem to most often design these for kids , with bright gaudy colours and cartoonish looks .

then of course , many of these things never last long - thicker ones hold up longer , but anything else can be disaster , especially popits . have pile of broken things at this point , and always have to look for more .

but really need these things , or else hands will move on to clothes and destroy those . just wish people would actually make these kind of things with adults in mind , sturdier and bigger for adult hands with more variety in design , and not just subtle sensory jewellery .

Any other autistic people never really connect with stim toys? It's awesome if you do, but I'm wondering if there are others like me who just have never really enjoyed using a stim toy that much. I've always preferred body stims. Maybe it's the fear of judgement for being an adult who uses stim toys in public, but even at home I don't use my stim toys particularly often. My favourite stim toy is my sensory slug, though even that I don't use all that often.

I am getting chewelry though, and I'm hoping that will be useful for redirecting an annoying stim of mine which is chewing my nails.

My favourite stim is pacing, though I am partial to rubbing my fingers and thumbs against each other, hand flapping, leg bouncing, and rubbing my tongue against my teeth and pushing air around my mouth.
