hello, yes, sorry to bother, but I was wondering if you had any other authors, people, ect, I should stay away from when reading and learning? I'm fairly new to everything. again, sorry to bother
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an unproblematic pagan author. Even the ones who seem like they’re doing things mostly right have their flaws.
Here are the ones to avoid, fullstop:
Silver Ravenwolf - Conflates Wicca and witchcraft, claims only Wiccans are true witches, erases non-Wiccan witches and pagans, constant Christian-bashing, misinformation, false history, cultural appropriation, contradicts herself, hateful rhetoric, racism, history of attacking critics.
D.J. Conway - HUGE problems with incorrect information about deities, questionable interpretations of historical events, also conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
Raymond Buckland - Appropriates closed cultures, uses the g-slur to exoticize certain rituals and techniques, propagates false history (documentary on “The Burning Times” is utter rubbish).
Edain McCoy - Yet more misinformation about deities and history (POTATO GODDESS!?), mostly where it applies to certain Celtic-associated personages and events. Tries to make EVERYTHING Irish, especially when it’s not.
Catherine Yronwode - Racist, perpetual bully, claims LGBTQ+ teens should kill themselves and along with her husband has provided pamphlets and counseling to encourage this, known for attacking people online, threatens critics and pirates with death magic. Oh and she claims New Orleans voodoo is “fake” to bolster her own credibility.
Christian Day - The problem here isn’t so much with his writing as with his personality. The man is a rape apologist and has harassed women on social media on numerous occasions after they’ve called him out for problematic statements, and has threatened other Salem practitioners over personal and business disputes.
Here’s what to look out for with the decent ones:
Judika Illes - Supports Silver Ravenwolf, conflates voodoo and hoodoo, some cultural appropriation.
Scott Cunningham - Outdated information (not his fault, he died in the early 1990s), incorrect correspondences, proponent of “The Burning Times” myth, incorrect history, conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
Tess Whitehurst - Frequently quotes her own beliefs as fact without supporting evidence, conflation of deities and practices.
Ellen Dugan - Vehemently against Christian witches, proponent of “The Burning Times” myth, sometimes conflates Wicca and witchcraft.
S. Connelly - Conflates voodoo and hoodoo, cultural appropriation from both.
Dorothy Morrison - Some cultural appropriation, conflates hoodoo and witchcraft.
Anna Riva - Outdated information (1970s), some appropriation, conflation of voodoo and witchcraft, mild misuse of Christian terminology and rhetoric.
Keep in mind, this list is far from exhaustive, and there are plenty of authors that I have read and not seen problems with, but that may be because I’m not looking at it from the right angle.
For instance, everyone seems to have a problem with Kate West, but I’ve found her books to be helpful and informative and aside from the obvious Wiccan fingerprinting (which you’ll find in most modern pagan literature). And I’m sure someone is going to tell me in the notes of this post exactly what it is I’m missing.
The important thing with any witchy or pagan book is to read critically and use your brains. If something doesn’t make sense or doesn’t seem to jive with what you know about history or religion, look it up in a non-witchy book. Read up on history and religion from academical sources. Read up on botany and herbology. Build a practical knowledge base so that when you run across problematic statements, you know which way the wind is blowing…and more importantly, whether it smells like bullshit.

also in a similar but more positive note than my last post, i recently learnt the term 'hearthome' and i love it and def have some so im gonna list mine!!
Tree Hollows
I feel like i'd be right at home setting up shop in a tree hollow. A little bed made of moss and found objects. Little mushroom table <3 I've always loved 'larger than life' objects (like giant buttons or mushroom decor) and have always wanted my room to feel like it;s made of found objects. Both manmade and natural. And I feel like this is why.
Outside of the tree hollow, i feel like i belong to a Moss Forest
I've even already made a moodboard dedicated to this hearthome, one I have seen and felt time and time again during daydreams and in meditations.
I dont know if there are many on the island I live on, but i've been told theres a few. I also get the same longing feeling for old growth forests of the british isles when i see photos and videos of them. Knowing I have ancestry there really doubles down on that feeling.
And finally, it's a little different but I feel surprisngly strongly about it too when I see it, tho it feels less like my actual home and more like... something like it would feel correct. If that makes sense. Anyway, my other hearthome is Pixie Hollow from the tinkerbell films.
the big tree, the close knit community, the little houses made of leaves and flowers <3333 ahh its literally what I dreamt of since I was a child. Oh I yearn for this.
ok thats my post :3

share again because of new poll version . :P
demonic legion , so yes ! can be hard for others to keep up with faeries , but demons do very well - and vice versa . :)
for clarity - much like kossai is plural faerie court in one body , lover legion is plural demonic legion in one body . everyone here is faerie in some way , and everyone there is demon in some way !
Alterhumans! I've got a question.
(This includes all alterhuman identities. Don't be shy!)

Don't bash me in for saying this..but I don't consider anyone 14 or under who especially has tiktok to really be a therian.
They're more than likley gonna grow out of it. I'm not hating them for saying they are a therian but most people that young don't even know the meaning and seriousness of the identity.

“People are inherently terrible” no!!! Have you ever seen a child wait for their friend while they tie their shoelaces? Have you ever known someone who would bring hurt squirrels and rabbits and mice to the nearest vet just so it doesn’t suffer? Have you seen someone grieve? Have you ever read something that hit your heart like a freight train? Have you looked at the stars and felt an unexplainable joy? Have you ever baked bread? Have you shared a meal with a friend? Have you not seen it? All the love? All the good? I know it’s hard to see sometimes, I know there’s pain everywhere. But look, there’s a child helping another up after a hard fall. Look, there’s someone giving their umbrella to a stranger. Look, there’s someone admiring the spring flowers. Look, there’s good, there’s good, there’s good. Look!!!!

too real . some folks still have no clue what respect of autonomy should look like .
sound counterintuitive to those who learn delusion is extreme danger , especially if ever personally live through awful episodes of psychosis ! but respect of autonomy means to ignore that gut reaction of yes , but remember delusion .
sometimes experience is not actually delusion , or only get such name because happen to be non-normative religion or spirituality . sometimes experience is delusion , but doctors say this aspect is more helpful than harmful . sometimes experience is delusion , but find through personal trial and error that best management involve embrace .
some folks will get this answer wrong , and find more harm or danger in embrace , need to distance for safety . this is unfortunate situation , but to strip autonomy of all will not help .
should encourage discussions of what these dangers really look like , rather than paint any whole group as " in need of saviour " - because , to be honest , even folks without long term psychosis can experience under duress . really ought to share this information for everyone .
and , in mean time , maybe do not care so much about what is or is not delusion in other folks . just sit , be patient , and listen regardless of those inner thoughts - do not give into urges of remind dangers or act as saviour . some folks might give real surprise , if only allow chance .
( kossai faeriehood is not delusion , but people very often class this way out of refusal to understand . very sick of arguments which try to deny all autonomy and trust , and treat delusion as something which completely other , as if always lack vital awareness and judgment , and can not make any choices for self . hopefully this was OK tangent . )
"yeah, lycans and zoans are cool they're just DELUSIONAL. Guys, we shouldn't shame them for being DELUSIONAL! they can't control their DELUSIONS! Don't worry, they'll recover from the DELUSIONS and come back normal! They're normal PEOPLE they're just a little DELUSIONAL!"
That's how some of y'all sound on here

greatly suspect this is same user who indeed seem to deal with very bad species dysphoria , and label self to be " therian anti " while deny personal needs and identity . if familiar with another semi-recent wave of hate just like this , well , this seem to be that same user .
this user make claims that to harass and hate on others help to deal with dissonance and what not . this is obviously unfortunate , and really only throw further into crisis while drive away folks that might want to help otherwise .
would suggest everyone to disengage . not even to mock how futile this is , please . as some people say , any attention is good attention .
Just blocked the funniest anti (@/songsofthedisturbed if you wanna block). Can't believe you'd be sad enough to make a post of 'if you're reading this you are a human' and then tag it with as many alterhuman tags as you can.
Can just imagine them fiendishly rubbing their hands together like hohoho that'll show 'em! They'll cry and piss because I told them they're human, hurts to face reality doesn't it freaks? This is such a good use of my time.
And then it's like...0 notes lol.
Please keep it at no notes. Absolutely hilarious this way.
Here's a better version btw
The irony is that also posting a picture about 'i didn't ask to be born as this' like dude are you denying yourself something here?

think that is absolute donkey butt . like maybe , maybe this is true for some small number , but like … talk about christians here , who in those times , would stop at nothing to conquer and convert . of course would try to find explanations of things that did not actually fit christian experiences - this do not make those explanations right .
🌲🧚🏻I've forgotten a lot of my faerie life, and recently, I read that early Christians believed faeries were fallen angels too good for hell, but not good enough for heaven, I can't remember that far back so I was just wondering what other spiritual fae/changelings, or even what spiritual Angel-kin think about that? 🌲👼🏻🧚🏻
