I blame big agri, big pharma (You think pharmaceutical companies are only in the business of drugs? A lot of them have patents on and sell pesticides too), and land developers. You know, the corporate entities that are actively destroying habitat and eradicating plants and wildlife.

But you know what? There's something you can actually do about this.

Step 1: KILL YOUR LAWN

And I mean this literally, metaphorically, and spiritually.

Unless it's an actual communal space, urban turf lawns are elitist colonial holdovers from the days of European estates - from wealthy land owners who could afford to have servants hand cut their lawns and didn't need the land to subsite off of. Rather the elites just subsisted off the backs of other people's labor. Like they still do today. Turf lawns are status symbols, they provide very limited habitat for wildlife, very limited eco service system functions, and are fucking boring.

So kill your lawn and eat the rich. You don't need a lawn to throw a potluck bbq.

Step 2: Plant Native Plants

Plant them in your yard, next to your vegetable garden, in containers outside you apartment, plant them in your asshole neighbor's yard, in hellstrips, in road medians, on the sides of the roads community gardens, at your kid's school, guerilla garden in some businesses landscaping, talk to your HOA about changing their dumb rules, join a local volunteer restoration effort, advocate for installing pollinator gardens at your local park. Wherever you think you can get native plants to grow.

Sure there are some immediate benefits to planting native plants, but one plant or one garden is not gonna fix climate change or habitat loss on its own. But that's not the point. The point is to learn and to heal. The point is to show people how to re-democratize our landscapes, because we as a species have forgotten what that looks like. It is about reminding people what the beauty of nature is, the sustenance it provides us, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

So go out there and get your hands dirty.

Also, as someone who works in land stewardship and natural resources, and who has completely gone down the Prairie Dog burrow on native plants, hit me up with questions. Chances are I don't live in the same ecosystem as you do and won't be able to answer in fine detail, but I'm happy to help people get started and point them to local resources.

the way some people will bend over backward to find ways to dismiss lando's performance is honestly impressive to me, like the youtuber tommo just spent 12 minutes telling his 322k subscribers that we should not take the fact that lando has outqualified oscar 13-4 this year as truly representative, because oscar's pace was often quicker in q1 and q2 of quali and so obviously he's really secretly got the pace to be better. the entire exercise is so dumb because all that matters is the outcome of q3. like that's when you need to put a lap together, when you need to perform, when you need to deliver. lando obviously has the experience and skill to do that when it matters, and oscar hasn't gotten there yet. he will in time! i'm sure. but the results aren't lying or obfuscating the truth about who is 'really' better right now. the results are all that matters. fucking.. scoreboard, you know?

I have a little bit of a tsams hot take that probably won't go into the main tags.

Monty's character has really gone downhill since he got his own show and left Tsams.

And I know Davis voices the character, but since Monty has left Tsams, and been split between writers between LAES, TSAMS and MGAFS...

He is so mixed.

LAES: Sweet, if a little brash. Cute, the supportive boyfriend. A bit of an asshole to Lunar, but they get along alright.

TSAMS: Don't acknowledge his existence unless they need something or he's paired with Earth. He's just... there. For all intents and purposes. Does not have the same relationship he had with Moon or the other Celestial Siblings before. And the void of where he left is filled by Solar. And I love Solar, but they seem to forget (in Moon's case) or refuse to acknowledge all the help he did for them up till the point Lunar exploded.

MAFS: Honestly. The worst version of himself. This Monty... Abuses his friends for no good reason, lies to his girlfriend for no good reason, hurts children for no good reason.

And yes, this can all be faucets that make up a character if that's what they're trying to do by showing different sides of him... but like... It's so absolutely disjointed, I do not know how his character will be in every given episode.

Example...

Monty recently was given a Female Body (this Monty is gender Fluid) that was commissioned by his Deceased Father (go with it) that Foxy found out, and gave to him as a gift. Foxy is the one who got it all set up when the package arrived for him.

(honestly the way they did those episodes is masterfully well done. Super respectful and relatable)

They loved it and were overwhelmed with emotion, spent a few days in his new body...

First by spending the day with their son Vegeta animatronic (go with it) although reluctantly,

and then another emotional episode in LAES where he comes out to Earth, and Earth accepts them in their new body...

So... What does Monty do to Foxy for helping him set up this body? You think he would thank Foxy for bringing this to his attention.

He turns him into a Fox plushie, and punts him around the pizzaplex, physically abusing him for laughs.

He legit physically abused him and I know why he did this. Monty was turned into a real life gator awhile back, but that was not Foxy's fault and it was an accident made by Puppet.

Monty only tortured Foxy so they could be "brothers but closer" I get Monty got lonely after Lunar blew up, but he does not fuckin need to abuse people to be his friends. He always feels like he does.

......You see the dichotomy here.

It's hard to get a grasp on Monty's character between episodes and shows.

In LAES, he's a misguided sweetheart. In Tsams, he exists when he needs to. In MAFS... He's a lying sack of shit who abuses and lies to his friends and girlfriend in order to not feel so insecure.

I do like Monty as a character across all three shows, but because his motivation and who he is tends to change so much between episodes.

To the point I remember that Monty lied to his girlfriend about being sick so he could spend time with her in MAFS.... and then either the same day or a few days after, in his next appearance in LAES... Earth and Monty have their first kiss and it's super romantic and sweet....

(by the way, neither here nor there... The "fake sick" episode LEGIT triggered me because I got horrid flashbacks to my Exes and I could barely stomach the episode and I will never watch it again)

It's like they want to have their cake and eat it to, with Monty being a kinda "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" character in one show.... and then... Just the perfect Hallmark Boyfriend in another show.

Just my opinion. I like Monty and everything. I just kinda wish his motivations and behavior was consistent so I would get a good grasp on what he's doing... Other then just "he's an abusive asshole for the lols don't take it seriously" and then turn around and have characters like Earth or Foxy in other shows or even the very next episode excuse that horrid behavior.

I don't remember this being a problem when he was Old Moon's "Go-to" guy in Tsams. It was usually just a money problem and Monty trying to impress Moon.

Just my opinion tho.

The Nightmare Pass is aggressively trying to make you purchase it. The fact it's expensive is bad but what's even worse is how it effects your gameplay (and they seriously dropped it in the middle of an event LMAO). You only get a single coin per battle, and you can only buy 5 coins a day for 11 heavenly tokens each/55 coins total. I didn't check out how that shakes out on a stamina/level/coin basis. The levels are challenge levels so you might be fucked if you haven't invested in lower tier units* and it's pretty expensive to even unlock a single tier (64 coins). Like, this isn't worth it to do at all. This is probably the first time I've seen a battle pass that quite literally is not worth your time. I mean that literally. The price for something free is time in this case and it's prohibitively and insultingly expensive for mediocre rewards. They might as well not have bothered adding in the coins at all because like if you want this pass you should just pay the 70$ for it. It is not worth the stress to try to do it the free way or low paying at all. It's not worth the time or effort. Like not even the 200 keys is worth it for the amount of effort it takes. *Normally, I'd be glad that a gacha game made lower tier units useless as a lot of them have their lower tier units pretty useless. The probelm is that raising a unit in WHB is so fucking expensive especially L units. This just mainly serves to gate players from maximizing their returns on coins.

My toxic trait is that the moment someone makes a joke about Kirumi being a mom I can no longer respect any of their thoughts on any characters. If you are so incapable of seeing women who enjoy helping others as anything other than mother figures that you will consistently reference it to a character who says outright several times that she HATES being called that or considered in that way. That's a you problem. And I don't trust your ability to look at characters as they are outside of initial impressions. (obvious disclaimer if you just skipped over those dialogues: you are so valid, now you know!)

and i’m still vaguely obsessed with how the master’s veneration of 13 after he learned about the timeless child is what caused him to lose sight of the fact that the doctor is a person. 

Because The Master has always seen the Doctor as the only other worthy being. Always cared in their own way about the doctor as a Person beyond the fact that they’re time lords (they think time lords are superior, but they rank the both of them above their species even then). 

and suddenly he sees the doctor as this figure to be put on a pedestal for their genetic superiority, and Them Alone. And the master loses sight of the fact that the doctor is somebody they’ve always cared about. Suddenly his conception of them as a being has to do with nothing but their body instead of their mind, hence the bodysnatching to “become” the doctor. Hence why he begs not to be put back in his own body, begs not to go back to being him. He still sees the Doctor as a body and not a person. 

and it’s very much pointing out the dangers of idolisation. The inherent depersonalisation of veneration. The master began idolising the doctor as a being with a genetic ability, and then as a result of this no longer viewed them as a Person and it gets worse and worse over time. 

To idolize is not to love. It is to dehumanize.
