#difference in accent? for sure

I get asked alot where I'm from bc I don't actually have an Irish accent and it always leads to the awkward moment after bc people just dont believe me when i say "im from Ireland i grew up in county [redated]" so I've started turning the question around on people asking them where they think I'm from and it's been pretty fun in particular today when I had two workmen around at the same time one saying I sounded "vaguely American" while the other said I sounded "nuteral polite english"

one of my pet peeves is in historical fiction (or modern fiction taking place in a made up country) when they'll graft UK accents onto everyone. like everyone in rome uses british slang and the lower class is full of scottish people. i love the regime (hbo television show) but it also does this and it's wild. i want someone to do this with american accents so it can be obvious how stupid it is. have a movie set in a fictional eastern european country where the sexy foreign prince talks like one of the succession guys and his servants are new yorkers.

Okay but if Andrew grew up in California most of his life, and Aaron grew up on the other side of the country, surely this means that when they met they had completely different accents? Like exposure alone would mean they would sound different? But the foxes still got them mixed up for a very long time, even Nicky did. So does this mean they picked up on each others accents and started mirroring it subconsciously or did they match accents on purpose to fuck with people? Alternatively did one of them (most likely Andrew) fake his real accent to match the other?

It’s funny hearing the Yonan (or any other non-Yonan character with a southern accent—ex: Kremy) characters talk, because one part of my brain is like “I do NOT talk like that”

there was a bbbat rhyme anima talk event today~ it was as chill of a time as it could be with kimura in the room lol but we got to hear some fun stuff from them!!!!

when asked what were their favourite scenes from the anime, kimura answered the place bbbat’s fight scene episode stood out to him bc it looked like a dungeon

ishiya-san really liked how this time around, they got to rap by groups in addition to teams!!!! it was really neat to sing with his fellow 2gumi lol

amasaki-san loves that one scene from bbbat’s episode where 2️⃣3️⃣🌙⚖️ were attacked by enemies while trying to hit the time switch. that whole it’s a shark!!!! no it’s actually humans!!!! scene is really funny lol

hayama-san really loved seeing everyone’s ending song animations!!!! like you could tell they were made with love and care for each division and their fans

sakakihara-san loved just seeing jyushi’s bandmates make an appearance and seeing them interact within the plot!!!

takeuchi-san really liked the visuals in sanity!!!!! especially that kaleidoscope visual they gave bat!!!!

they also asked for general impression in the anime and starting with bat:

hayama-san was really impressed with the artstyle lol. it’s the first time they got to see bat move and on top of that, the style pays a lot of respect to kazui-sensei’s art!!!!!

sakakihara-san liked how they managed to show jyushi’s growth as a person, have his still push him forward as he takes a step forward to help someone else

takeuchi-san got to see hitoya’s office for himself in the anime and was really impressed with how big his office is actually lmao

on bb side, kimura prefaced with how ordinary bb’s character setting is compared to like, mtc’s yakuza, policeman, soldier set up since they’re just a trio of bros. but that in itself is their power and it’s nice to see in the anime too

ishiya-san liked how they portrayed bonds in the anime and the strength those bonds brought!!! he gave an example of jiro feeling a little pressured but ready to step up to the challenge after hearing saburo’s contributions in the 3gumi episode

amasaki-san really liked how the anime showed a sense of each division protecting their hoods!!! kinda got hoodstar vibes lol

next they had to come up with a word or phrase that encompasses bbbat’s dynamic/vibes. for whatever reason kimura was really having a hard time understanding this as a concept (and it lowkey killed ishiya-san and amasaki-san’s braincells lol) but since bat were on it and ready they went up

hayama-san wrote ‘love’, sakakihara-san wrote ‘shounen manga’ and takeuchi-san wrote ‘one big family’

hayama-san said bbbat share similar expressions of love, bat shows their familial like love, bb has their love as siblings and ichiro and kuukou have carried on their love as partners from their naughty busters days (at which hayama-san and sakakihara-san started giggling like the fudanshi they are LMAO)

their energy and action kinda gives shounen manga to sakakihara-san!!!!

it was at this time bb finished their answers and revealed they all so happened like woah crazy coincidence bruh wrote the same stupid pun that doubled as them saying ‘they’ve got some kick ass ball busting energy!!!’ and them flexing their bonds lol

bc of this takeuchi-san didn’t get to explain lol and after kimura poked fun at him for it, hayama-san managed to tie all their response together since they were still similar in vibe. amasaki-san said hayama-san was being too nice to them LOL 😭😭😭

the last segment was them playing a quiz game where they had to watch a scene from the anime and answer a weirdly specific question about it lol. bat won 30-29 (LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) and it was very entertaining lol but there were two moments that made me really laugh lmao

at the start of it, ishiya-san and amasaki-san all of a sudden stood up and started jeering and shit talking like actual six year olds lol. not a single bat seiyuu had the thought to rise to the provocation LOL but takeuchi-san protectively blocked them with his arm and told them they didn’t to need to stoop to their level lmao

for the first question, they needed to answer what was ichiro’s phone battery at in the scene. kimura loudly stated this was his hour (he knew the answer lol) and as takeuchi-san stepped up to rep bat’s answer, hayama-san coyly leaned over to look directly at kimura to ask, ‘was it in the 70s? 🙂or the 60s? 🙂maybe 50s? 🙂’ and the way kimura just froze LOL

kimura: that was really scary!!! like yikes!!!! yikes!!!! i thought i was being puppeted for a second!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

YALL I HAVE A QUESTION

Um. What sort of accents do you guys think each Link has???

I was just looking through a draft and I was reading Twillight's dialogue and then somehow the voice that I read him in was some sort of cross between some sort of vague southern (I not american I have no idea what sort of accents you lot have over there) crossed with Australian???? Of all things???? HELP?????

And now I'm thinking even more about the different accents that everyone has.

Like, I absolutely adore fics that mention that Warriors has an accent because of him either being upper-class or lower-class and how the others in the Chain react to it or still treat him normally or wkfblshcoejclsjfksjgkfh

What about Time who totally adopts his own accent from Malon and Talon. As someone who has picked up on and has started speaking with a slightly thicker countryside accent (irish) I know he absolutely would. He just would!!! And would he even have remnants of how the kokiri and the deku tree talk??? WHAT WOULD THE KOKIRI ACCENT BE LIKE??????

And because I am biased, I'm imagining Wind with a filipino accent. Come on, he's a tropical island boy, he would have our accent!! I remember reading a fic where everyone from Wind's era was speaking tagalog and I was getting emotional because omg me too!

Wild would have some sort of amalgamation of accents from all the different regions. I have no idea how it would be, but he picks up on the Rito, the Gerudo, the Gorons- hell, maybe even accents from the Sheikah or from Hateno Village!!! He's a codeswitching natural, he teleports all across Hyrule almost daily!!!

- it's so nice to have just a straightforward 2d animated fairytale adaptation!!!!!!!

- it's doing its very best to be a disney renaissance princess movie without the necessary resources to be one. i commend the effort. the songs are tragically lackluster

- definitely a kids movie though. don't think i would recommend this to anyone in my age group unless they have a small kid or if they're some kind of weirdo with a particular interest in 2d animated movies or something,,

I am only going to say this about the accent discourse: I stopped taking accents as seriously/trusting my understanding of them when:

1. My dad grew up in an area with a very distinct accent culture and he never developed one. His dialect might change slightly around certain company, but not enough for anyone to claim he has an accent.

2. I was 16 years old when I realized my mother, who grew up in the same city as my dad, had an accent. And this wasn’t a deal of me having grown up in a house with her or anything, I recognized others around her had an accent — just not her. And it’s the same bloody accent they had.

Accents. Are. Weird. And inconsistent. Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don’t, and other times they do but they’re kinda wonky depending on the person and their experiences. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Case in point: I just headcanon that Copia, if not raised in Italy, spent a hefty chunk of some earlier part of his life there, and spent his formative years chowing down on American media and let that inform his accent and dialect morphing. It can happen. Either side can potentially be right but it doesn’t really matter because Tobias doesn’t even care that much. We’re all just here to watch a family of mainly old men quite literally fuck around and leave breadcrumbs of backstory that we scatter at like rats in a dungeon, so can we just eat our morsels and chillax?
