i know that not getting what you need in a relationship is a COMPLETELY valid reason to end it but also. i feel like having a very vulnerable moment where i opened up about my struggles with intimacy and being relieved that i didn't have to keep doing things i wasn't comfortable with, then being dumped a YEAR later because of my lack of intimacy. is something i should be allowed to be very hurt by???

as far as I know there's been no confirmation on whether it's going to be next year's Halloween event or a separate thing (the snow makes me think it'll be more Christmas-themed, or otherwise more related to the plot of the original movie) so. we're probably going to have to wait quite a while before we find out anything solid. :') they really do love just dropping these things on us and then watching us go absolutely wild with speculation while they watch like

simon himself never considered the possibility of being ticklish behind his ears. no one really ever touched him there, mostly because he was mostly wearing a balaclava around everyone.

everyone but you.

it was an exhausting day, and simon wanted nothing but to lay down with you and bathe in your warmth. you hated seeing your boyfriend so down and quiet, so you decided to give him a scalp massage!

“lay your head down on my lap, si.” you sat on the bed and patted your thighs. he let out a grunt, pretending to be all moody and reluctant even though his heart was doing mini jumps inside out of happiness. he walked over to the bed and slowly layed down, resting his head on your soft thighs.

your fingers slowly begin to move through his dirty blonde hair, parting the hair strands before beginning to gently scratch your fingernails against his scalp. a satisfied groan left his lips and he felt himself sinking deeper in your lap, eyes fluttering shut.

while rubbing soft circles on his scalp, your fingers found their way behind his ears to rub them too, though as soon as you made contact with his sensitive skin, his eyes flew open and looked up at you.

you paused for a while, gently scratching behind his ears, noticing the way a soft smile slowly adorned his lips while he tried to hold in a chuckle, your heart instantly warming up.

“you teasin’ me now, love?” he grumbled playfully, and you feigned innocence by shaking your head, continuing to scratch behind his ears just to see the little twitches in his face.

it was the first time he didn’t try to tickle you back as revenge, too absorbed in this relaxing feeling to care. but he was sure that he’ll get back to you, just not right now.

I know Jack and Maddie's relationship in canon is probably MEANT to be seen--depending on the episode--as a pretty bog-standard, 2000s-era "idiot big dad and exasperated, smart wife who puts up with him" trope.

BUT

my personal favorite interpretation is that BOTH are equally genius engineers who are also equally on the autistic spectrum, with a specific hyperfixation on ghosts and mad science.

The main difference is that Maddie has siblings and female social expectations, so she had to learn how to mask in ways that are seen as sociable and polite and attractive and "smart." When she does bumble major social cues (such as not recognizing Vlad's flirting until Danny points it out decades later, or humiliating her kids by showing up in a hazmat suit at school), it feels more "socially acceptable" from her.

She genuinely loves Jack because he could not care less about her being Feminine or Socially Acceptable. He just wants to shout with her about ghosts! So the nanosecond she's around him she can yank the mask off and go chasing spirits with a toaster turned into a machine gun.
