Alex Drake and Sam Tyler are opposites in several ways, but I think the one that’s the saddest to me is that Sam Tyler fought so hard at every second and every interval to get home and then woke up to find that there was literally nothing left for him, meanwhile Alex is the one who actually has a life waiting for her and reasons to go home but she consistently forgets that she has to fight until it almost costs her everything.
Like there’s nothing sadder than Sam Tyler clinging so viciously to every shred of the real world, only to realise that it doesn’t have a place for him meanwhile Alex Drake is on the floor trying her best to remember her daughter’s name because she’s been so caught up in 1981 that she’s forgotten how much the people in 2008 love her.
I swear to god I am a MESS.

It's 1980. The night before a big rain storm. The night before Sam's car skids into the canal. ...Except Sam opens a fob watch. A fan comic.
Chapter 2 will take place in 2007, after the 'death' of Harold Saxon.
So, this is just a fun little project I decided to do in my spare time :) It's not Ashes to Ashes complaisant, I'll admit that way way way back when Ashes first started airing, I was pretty salty about the explanation that Sam died in a car accident. I know how that show ended, and what they decided to go with, but I'm still just ignoring it all together. I guess this could be a 'fix it,' I'm not sure. Just suspend your disbelief. I'm going to estimate that chapter 2 will take about two months to finish, depending on my real life work load, but the script is already written.

The Supernatural Script Hunt came from humble origins, a handful of fans banding together to collect and preserve our fandom history, making as many scripts as possible accessible to fans worldwide. Since acquiring our first script over five years ago, and then branching out to involve so many fans supporting the work in the years since, it was always our intent to give it all back, and then some.
When we began this project, the fandom collectively had six scripts from five episodes and a single network outline. In the five years since we bought our first script to add to that collection, we are ending the project with a total of 163 scripts from 147 episodes, casting sides from 50+ episodes, 50+ call sheets, arenas from 18 episodes, and other related documents. A complete list of items in our collection is on the SupernaturalWiki, for a closer look, click here.
The time has come for us to offer everyone a final chance to own their very own priceless souvenir of the show and cast we all love so dearly. In doing so, we also want to honor the largest (hopefully!) legacy of our fandom: using our collective power for good. Which is why we're offering up some very special scripts (and a few other items!) in our collection in a raffle to benefit Undue Medical Debt.
Our initial goal was to raise at least $10,000 so we can erase at least one million dollars in medical debt.  We've met that goal, our stretch goal is to get to $20,000 so we can erase at least two million dollars in medical debt.
How Undue Medical Debt Works:
You make a donation. They use data analytics to pinpoint the debt of those most in need: households that earn less than 4x the federal poverty level or whose debts are 5% or more of annual income.
Undue Medical Debt buys medical debt at a steep discount. They buy debt in bundles, millions of dollars at a time at a fraction of the original cost. This means your donation relieves about 100x its value in medical debt.
Together we wipe out medical debt. People across the country receive letters that their debt has been erased. They have no tax consequences or penalties to consider. Just like that, they're free of medical debt.
For every $10 you donate to Undue Medical Debt, you will 1) be erasing about $1,000 in medical debt and 2) be able to enter our raffle to win one of the items listed below.

tell me more about classic filk i know a few songs but never got deep into it
Heck YEAH
"Filk" is music (often but not always folk music-style, often but not always song parodies to the tune of famous pre-existing songs) about sci-fi, fantasy, and other fannish topics. Filk circles are popular events at science fiction conventions, and that's really where the genre started. The word "filk" actually arose from a typo in a convention program once, and people just rolled with it ever since!
Some of the most iconic albums in the filk world are the anthology albums "Minus Ten And Counting" (songs about space exploration and the real-life space program), "Carmen Miranda's Ghost" (songs about sci-fi space shenanigans and space ghosts), and "Finity's End: Songs of the Station Trade" (songs set in the world of CJ Cherryh's Alliance-Union novels, and my personal favorite. I've never read any of CJ Cherryh's books, but these songs paint such a vivid world.) "Space Heroes and Other Fools" is another big one, it's more hit-or-miss for me but it's iconic. Other really good and foundational ones are "Divine Intervention" by Julia Ecklar, "Avalon is Risen" by Leslie Fish, and "We Are Who We Are" by Vixy & Tony.
I lean more towards sci-fi and space than fantasy, but fantasy and paganism are huuuugely popular filk topics too.
Some of the most popular names to look into include Leslie Fish (intensely prolific, barely a fraction of her work is on any streaming or music service), Julia Ecklar (famous for her "ose," the filk-world word for sad songs - because they're "ose, more-ose, and even more-ose), Juanita Coulson, Kristoph Klover, Vic Tyler (who just recently died :( rest in peace), Duane Elms, Kathy Mar, Bob Kanefsky, Alexander James (trans, with lots of filk under his previous name as well), Vixy & Tony, and Seanan McGuire. (I like Seanan McGuire's filk music better than her books, hah.) Some other great ones include Cat Faber (most acapella), Astrisoni, The PDX Broadsides, Kari Maaren, and Sassafrass (also mostly acapella. Includes Ada Palmer). Heather Dale, Tom Lehrer, and Jonathan Coulton are kind of honorary filkers too haha.
The best place to get the ones from 80s and 90s cassettes are on the Internet Archive or Youtube; a few filkers who are more currently active have their stuff on Bandcamp.
And I'll leave you with a few of my Favorite Ever filk songs:
"Sam Jones" by CJ Cherryh and Leslie Fish
"Pushin' the Speed of Light" by Julia Ecklar and Anne Prather
"Chickasaw Mountain" by Leslie Fish
"Fire in the Sky" by Jordan Kare
"The Phoenix" by Julia Ecklar
"Freedom of the Snow" by Leslie Fish
"Burn it Down" by Vixy & Tony
"Hope Eyrie" by Leslie Fish, or this Minus Ten And Counting version
"Rocket Rider's Prayer" by Kristoph Klover, Ernie Mansfield, and Cecilia Eng
"Dawson's Christian" by Duane Elms, performed by Vic Tyler or Vixy & Tony
"Somebody Will" by Sassafrass
"Chances & Choices & Fortunes & Fates" by Astrisoni
... my tastes lean sentimental and ose but I swear there's a lot of very funny filk out there too
"Never Set the Cat on Fire" by Frank Hayes (a famous one)
"Banned From Argo" by Leslie Fish (an INFAMOUS one)
"Don't Push That Button" by Duane Elms and Larry Warner
"No More SF Cons" by Juanita Coulson
"One More Ose Song" by B. J. Willinger
everything Bob Kanefsky writes

Your watery eyes scanned over the banquet hall, your head nodding with each person that comes up to pay their respects to you for the recent loss.
“Loaded question.. but..” Colby sits down next to you, “Are you okay?”
You sniffle, nodding as you look at him, “Yeah, yeah. I just… I think I’ve had enough of this for one day.” You stand up, making your way to the parents of your best friend, “Hey.. guys..”
“Y/n.” Jen, Raya’s mom sighs, “Thank you..” she pulls you into a hug, squeezing tight, “Thank you for everything you’ve done today, you are family to us, and I just.. if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call us or stop by.”
“Thank you, and same for you and Jason. Raya was...” You sigh, fighting back tears, “She was.. everything to be. The best person I could have ever had in my life. I loved her like she was my own sister.”
You feel Jen’s body jolt with her sobs and she steps back, “You were the best person she could have had in her life, too.” She rubs your cheek and you turn to give her father, Jason, a hug.
“You were good to her, kid. I’m so happy you stuck around with us.”
You smile and nod, “Me too.”
You turn around, Colby tilting his head slightly as you walk back over to him.
Colby was your best friend, too. Well, you were more than friends but not really official lovers.
“I think, I’m going home.” You pick your jacket up from your chair and Colby stands up, “Do you want me to drive you home?”
“No.” You shake your head as you put your coat on, “I need to walk home. I think the time to reflect on everything will be good for me.” You flick your hair out and sigh, “Tell Sam and everyone I said bye.”
“Okay.” Colby nods, “If you need-“
“I can handle myself, Colbs.” You shoot him a smile and turn to leave.
As soon as you walk out, the cool air hits you and your demeanor changes, and you push yourself into step one of your plan - finding somewhere no one will find you.
You walk down the street, hands in your pockets as you think about everything today, yesterday, last week.
Raya Tylers. Beloved best friend and daughter, has died.
You couldn’t help but blame yourself, hate yourself for allowing her death to happen, but as Colby keeps saying, it didn’t have anything to do with you. There isn’t anything you could have done to help her.
You walk across the street, moving in the opposite direction of your house.
You only had a short time to do this because once Colby and the others showed up at your house to find you no where do be found, the search party would ensue.
You stood at the tree line, listening behind you for anything- anyone, and nothing. You vamp through the trees, coming to a stop when everything you’ve been putting off hits you like a ton of bricks.
You gasp for air, bending down as you fight back the sobbing but you can’t control it. Gasps and sniffles fill the dark air as you let out everything.
You fall back, leaning up against the tree, hands covering your face as you feel the mascara burn your crying eyes.
You tilt your head back, staring up at the space through the dead tree at the night sky.
“Fuck.” You sniffle, “God..damn it.”
You get up, wiping your face as best you can before taking a few deep breathes to try and calm down. Raya was the first friend you made when you came to this tiny little town. She was there for you when you first turned, she wasn’t afraid of you.
She was there for you through everything, high school, your mom moving away. Your drunken nights when you couldn’t stop going on and on about Colby.
Colby was a vampire, too. You knew he knew how you felt, you just had too much on your plate at the time to add a relationship, and he understood that.
Your head was filled with so much guilt, remorse, hatred. You felt like you were spinning. You felt like you couldn’t breathe, you knew life wasn’t going to be the same without her and you didn’t want anything to do with it.
You took one last breath before closing your eyes, and everything shifted.
You opened your eyes and you looked around, “Huh.” You laugh slightly, “Thought that would be a lot more dramatic.”
You take a step, stopping when you hear the distant sound of campers within the same woods as you, “Noooo, give it back, Will!”
“I think you’ve had enough, Marcy.”
“My name.. is Marissa.”
“Snack time.” You smirk to yourself and vamp through the trees, stopping when you reach the chair the girl is sitting on.
Whoa!” The guy jumps up, pointing to you, “Where did you come from?”
“Oh me?” You laugh, looking down at the girl staring up at you with a frightened look on her face. The guy laughs slightly, “Yeah, yeah you.”
“Just passing by.” You lean down, staring the girl in the eyes, “You are going to sit still for me and you’re not going to make a peep, got it?”
She nods and you tilt your head up to look at the guy, “And you-“
“What did you- no. Fuck this.” He takes off running and you sigh as you stand up, “Why do they already do that?” You speed and catch up to him, holding him by the shoulders as you look into his eyes, “Go back to your campsite, don’t make a sound.”
He turns, walking back to his camp in silence.
You let out a sigh, rolling your eyes as you feel your phone buzzing in your pocket. You pull it out and sigh as you answer it, “I’m fine, Colby. Okay? You don’t need to check on me every two minutes.”
You walk back to the camp, smirking as you see the guy and girl sitting in their chairs staring at you.
“Well, you aren’t here and you said you were coming here, so that’s kind of.. weird.” Colby pauses, but speaks when you don’t, “What are y-where are you?”
“I’m not home. Simple as that, now if you’ll excuse me. I have a dinner date.” You pull the phone away and right as you’re about to hang up, Colby’s words cause your head to tilt.
“You turned it off.”
You bring the phone back up to your ear and you let out a sigh, “Wow, pretty and smart, look at you go.”
“Why?”
“I gotta go.” You hang up and tuck your phone back into your pocket before walking up to the girl, “Marissa, is it?” You bend down in front of her, “I’m just gonna take a little bite. Hope that’s okay.”
You stand up, “I mean, of course it is, right?” You walk around and bend down, sinking your fangs into her neck.
It wasn’t long until her body fell forward, lying limp on the ground by the fire. You wipe the corner of your mouth with your thumb, licking the blood from it as you walk over to the guy, “I never got your name, hmm. Too bad I don’t really care.”
You sink your fangs into his neck, finishing him off within a matter of seconds before standing up.
You push his body back into his chair and roll your eyes as your phone once again vibrates repeatedly.
You pull it out, watching the screen go from Colby’s incoming call to your lock screen with a bunch of texts from your so called friends.
Colby: please tell me you didn’t turn it off
Sam: Y/n, please. Colby is worried about you.
Colby: just remember that I do care about you
You tap on Colby’s texts, sighing as you type, You keep pushing me and these two bodies won’t be the last ones they find in the woods.
“Oops.” You purse your lips, “Guess I just blew my location.” You look at the two bodies, “It’s been swell, guys. But, I gotta run.”
Colby texts back, but I can’t live without you. Please y/n, don’t do this, you don’t have to.
You stare at the screen, typing out a quick text before hitting send, then die.
You turn your phone off and take off before anyone can catch up to you.

“Another one please.”
The bartender looks from your empty glass then back up to you, “I don’t think I can do that.”
“And.. why not?” You scoff, “Do I really seem that drunk to you?” You tilt your head, “Really, I want your answer to that.”
“You’ve had… a lot, Miss. I just-“
“Look.” You lean in, sighing as you look up at him, “I just buried my best friend a few hours ago because of something that could have probably been easily avoided, but that’s not the point. The point is, I just want to drink, and drink, and drink and you..” You wave your finger at him, “Mr. Bartender, are getting in the way of that, and I’d really prefer if you weren’t, so why don’t you just do you job.. and get me another drink.”
He sighs and nods, “Coming right up.”
“Thank you. See, that wasn’t so hard.” You roll your eyes and look around. You spot a guy hanging over the banister, but it wasn’t his looks that caught your attention, it was the fact that you knew his blood probably tasted so good.
“Thank you.” You huff as you snatch your glass from the bar and stand up. You make your way up the steps, your eyes staying on his, just like his were on you.
You walk up next to him and he turns, “To what do I owe the pleasure of this moment right here?”
You smirk, taking a sip through your straw, “Seen you looking at me. What? Didn’t expect me to be this forward?”
He shakes his head, “No, not really. Girls from around here aren’t like that. Always playing hard to get.”
“Mm.” You shrug, “Well, lucky for you.. I’m not from here. I’m from a little town, about an hour and a half away. Nothing fancy.”
“Tiegen Mills?” He raises a brow, “Isn’t that place crawling with supernatural?”
“Those are all just myths..” you raise your brows, “Your name?”
“Oh, Zander.” He extends his hand out and you take it, nodding your head, “Serina, and yes. Tiegen Mills.” You lean in, inhaling his scent, “You smell delicious.”
He chuckles, “Oh, well, thanks. It’s a new cologne I-“
“I wasn’t talking about that, Zander.” You smirk, staring into his eyes, “Follow me.”
He takes your hand into his and you lead him to a small supply room, pushing him in before you follow.
“What.. did you mean then?” He asks with a nervous chuckle and you walk up to him, smirking in the dim lighting, “I meant the blood coursing through those veins of yours.”
You lick your lips, cutting him off from speaking, “Don’t move, don’t make a sound. Just let me have a taste.”
You waste no time sinking your teeth into his neck, sucking and pulling the blood from punctured veins.
You spin him around, pushing him against the wall as you continue to siphon.
You hear the door open and you instantly know who is standing there, “What did I say?”
“Doesn’t mean I’m not going to make sure you’re okay.”
You look over at Colby, picking the blood from your lips, “How’d you find me?” You watch as Colby steps in, sighing as he closes the door, “Can you let your little friend go before we have this conversation?”
“What? You don’t want any?” You smirk, pulling away from the guy standing there in silence, “Come on, it’s so good.”
“I’m fine.” Colby shakes his head, “Let him go, and we can go somewhere to talk.”
“Talk?” You scoff, “I don’t need to talk. I’m doing just fine.”
“Are you?”
You squint your eyes at him, “Yeah, Colby. Underestimate me. That’ll be fun.” You turn back to finish your job and you feel a hands on your waist before your thrown back into the wall.
“What the fuck?” You watch as Colby bites his wrist and pushes it to Zander’s lips. Once he pulls his wrist away, he wipes off his neck and looks into his eyes, “You won’t remember any of this. You’ll forget her. Go home.”
Zander walks away, leaving you in the supply closet alone with Colby.
“Again. What the fuck, Colby?” You look at him and he shrugs, “You’re getting sloppy, y/n. Coming to a busy club with multiple potential witnesses?” He scoffs, “Thought you were better than this.”
“Fuck you. I don’t need a babysitter. I was going to heal him, well.” You smirk, “That was until you barged in and interrupted my moment.”
“You were going to kill him.” Colby states and you laugh, “Yeah.” You breathe out, “I was.” You glance towards the door, “Where’s your backup partner, Sam? He come along, too?”
Colby shrugs and you groan, “Let’s just get down to it. Are you guys here to stake me? Shoot me with a tranquilizer to drag me back home and drain me until I’m ready to turn everything that you want me to feel back on?”
He raises his brows, “God, you are bitchy when you’re like this.”
You smile, “That’s gotta be one of the nicest things you’ve ever said to me.”
“Yeah, okay.” He rolls his eyes, “so where you headed next? You’re just going to leave everything and everyone behind like they don’t mean anything?”
You purse your lip, staring at him like he should already know the answer to that question, “Um, yeah pretty much. Do I need to spell it out for you or something?”
He clenches his jaw and you smirk, “Aw.” You tilt your head, “Am I finally getting under that skin or yours?”
“No you’re just pissing me off.”
“Well.. then.. why don’t we go somewhere else and take care of that?” You walk up to him, “I’ve always liked you, Colby. Well.” You scoff, “That was until you decided to ruin my plan of running away from everything.”
“See, you know what you’re doing, so why can’t you just-“
“I never said I didn’t? God, Colby. I turned off my humanity. I didn’t become stupid.” You walk over to the door and Colby vamps over to stand in between you and your only exit route, “You need to flip it back on.”
“Or what?” You raise your brows, “You’re going to leave me? Please, that would just be easier on m-“
Colby cuts you off with a kiss - a rough, kiss.
He pushes you back into the wall, his teeth sinking into your lower lip, “Is this what you want?” He leans back as his hands move to undo your jeans, “For me to fuck your humanity back into you?”
You bite your lip, “I mean.. you can try, but I’m telling you right now, it’s going to take a lot more than this one time to even get me to budge.”
“We got all the time in the world, y/n.”
His lips crash back onto yours as you work to undo his belt, followed by his jeans. You switch to your own, kicking them off as he pushes his down, “This isn’t-“
“Shut up.” You cut him off by pulling him back in for a kiss. You jump up, his arms catching your legs and you feel the rip of his cock slide into you. You tilt your head back, a moan leaving your lips as he thrusts in fully.
Your fingers slip under the collar of his jacket and your nails dig into his skin, “Fuck, Colby. Just like that.”
You look down at him, your jaw staying open as your eyes lock onto his. He groans lowly, his hand pressing into the wall by your head, “Not how I wanted to do this, y/n.”
“Can you just.. not talk for five minutes.” You huff as you slide your hand up to the hair on the nape of his neck, pulling hard has he rails into you from below.
Colby clenches his jaw, his fingers digging into your hip hard, “Fuck.”
“Feels good, doesn’t it?” You smirk as your head rests back against the wall, “Feels so fucking good.”
Colby leans in, attaching his lips to your neck and sucking, which warns more moans from you, “Should have done this sooner, Colbs.” You look down at him with a smirk, “You know what you’re doing.”
“Flip it back on and we can do anything you want.”
“You’ll do it anyway.” You smirk, “I know how much you like me.”
“And I know how much you like me.” He tilts his head, his thrusts coming to a stop, “Why won’t you turn it back on?”
“Can’t this wait?” You glance down, “Kind of in the middle of something.” You smirk, “I mean, doesn’t really matter anyway, you stop now and I’m sure I can find some other-“
In one swift motion, you’re on your back on the floor, Colby railing into you once again.
You moan loudly, your legs tightening around his waist, “Jealous?”
“I just hate you using shit against me when you clearly know how I feel.” He crashes his lips onto yours, muffling your moans with his own, “Just stop this. Come home to me.”
You don’t say anything. You just squeeze your eyes shut as your orgasm rolls, your moans becoming louder as his thrusts guide you through.
Colby finishes after, his cock twitching inside of you as you lay there breathing heavy.
He grabs your chin, turning your head towards him, “I don’t want to have to hurt you, y/n.”
“So then don’t. Just accept that this is who I am now?” You sit up as he moves off of you, standing up to put your pants back on, “Literally not that hard.”
Colby scoffs, following it up with a laugh, “If you had your humanity, you’d know that this is hell for me, y/n.”
“So why didn’t you say anything sooner? You know, maybe this is your fault. Did you ever think about that? Maybe if I had you telling me how much you actually loved me and didn’t just treat me like a friend most of the time, maybe this could have been avoided.”
“Yeah because this is everyone else’s fault but your own.” Colby buckles his belt, “No one forced you to turn it off. No one-“
“Look, this has been a great rendezvous, and all.. but I’ve clearly made up my mind, and if you can’t accept that.. than..” you shrug, “I don’t know what to tell you.”
Colby walks up to you, his hands on your hips, “Don’t do this to me. Please. Im sorry I didn’t say anything sooner, believe me, I should have. I shouldn’t have pushed those feelings down.”
You bring your hands up to cup his cheeks, giving him a smile before twisting his head. You drop his body to the ground, along with your smile and step over it.
You open the door, looking to your left to see Sam push himself up off the banister.
You close the door and look back at him with a smirk, “He’ll wake up in a few hours.”
You see Sam’s expression change into a form of worry and then you were gone.
Onto the next place.

A few days later, you decided to turn your phone on again. Honestly, you were having too much fun to even remember you turned it off to begin with.
You see a bunch of old texts flowing in, missed called and what not.
You smirk as you read over Colby’s recent text, If you think snapping my neck is going to stop me from helping you, you’re mistaken.
You roll your eyes, tossing your phone onto the bed of your hotel room. You look at the girl sitting frightened in your chair, unable to move or speak.
You bend down, “Answer my questions and only my questions.”
She nods and you tilt your head, “What’s your name?”
“Hannah.”
“Hannah.” You repeat as you brush her hair away from her neck, “How old are you?” You glance back up at her from the pulsing vein in her neck.
“Twenty eight.”
“Twenty eight. Hmm. You have so much life ahead of you.” You smirk, “I’ll tell you what. You give me what I want, and since I’m not a total monster, I’ll let you go?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect.” You lean forward, biting into her neck. You groan at the taste of her blood hitting your tongue, “You taste.. so good, Hannah.”
You feel her body twitch and tense under your grip and you lean back, “Feel okay?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t mind if I do.” As you lean in, a knock on the door stops you from continuing and you sigh, “I swear to god.”
“Open up.” Colby’s voice rings through your ears, “Or I’ll bust the door down.”
“Can’t you just take a fucking hint?” You stand up, biting into your wrist and pressing it to Hannah’s lips, “God, breaking your neck wasn’t enough?”
“You read my text, so you should know my answer to that, sweetheart.”
You scoff, pulling Hannah to her feet, “Forget everything that happened here.” You push her towards the door, “Go away.”
She walks to the door and leaves. Colby stops it from shutting and walks in, “Wow. Nice room.”
“Listen, unless you came here to..” you tilt your head, bringing you hands up to apply air quotes, “Fuck the humanity back into me..” you shake your head, dropping your hands, “You can go.”
Colby shrugs, lifting his shirt from his body, “If you say so.”
You vamp to him, your hands sliding up his bare torso, “You really are hot.” You look up at him and he smirks, “Yeah, so are you.”
He goes in for a kiss but you push him back, “This is too easy. What trick are you trying to pull?”
He shrugs, “No tricks, y/n. If you want to be this person, I can live with it.”
“This seems too easy. Seriously, Colby. If I find out you’re trying to pull something, I’ll literally kill you.”
He chuckles, “Yeah yeah, not like you haven’t tried before.” He walks over to you, pushing you back onto the bed, “Just shut up and let me fuck you.”
You raise your brows, biting onto your lip as he crawls up your body. He pulls your shirt up with his teeth before kissing over your bare skin.
Your breath hitches as he bites down and you pull him up to kiss him.
He pushes down your sweats and you kick them off as quickly as you can while he pushes down his pants, “Can’t stop thinking about you.”
“In a sex way, or you’re worried about me way?”
“Both.” He kisses back your jaw and reaches down to draw circles over your clit, “You just felt so good around me yesterday, had to find you for more.”
“Mm.” You smirk, “A part of me doesn’t believe you.”
“Yeah?” Colby moves down your body, lifting your legs to lay over his shoulders, “Let me just.. spell it out for you then.”
You watch as his head dips down between your thighs, gasping out as his tongue swirls around your clit, “Fuck.”
Your fingers lace through his hair, tugging as he makes his way down to slip his tongue inside of you.
You moan loudly as your back arches off the bed, “Fuuuck, Colby. So fucking good.”
He looks up at you and your lips part, panting as his tongue works to get you to believe him.
Your eyes roll back as you feel yourself coming undone, “Shit, shit.” You pull his hair harder, moaning out louder as he guides you through your high before pulling away.
He crawls up, but you quickly flip him over to straddle him. Your brows furrow and your nails dig into his chest as you sink down onto him, quickly getting into a rhythm of bouncing your hips.
His hands grip your waist and his lip pulls between his teeth as he groans deeply, “Fuck, baby. Just like that.”
You look down at him, “Don’t do that. I don’t want you getting attached.” You shake your head, tilting it as you moan out, “I’m still pissed at you.”
“That’s fine, you can be pissed at me all you want. Doesn’t mean I’m going anywhere.” His grip tightens, “If you haven’t noticed, I’m relentless when it comes to you.”
“No, you just don’t want me dropping bodies and having our secret discovered.” You roll your eyes, “Please.”
Colby thrusts upward, earning a whine from your lips, “Imagine how good this would be if you had your emotions back on, y/n.”
“I don’t want to imagine anything, Colby.” You slam your hips down, “Fuck, I’m so close again.”
He doesn’t say anything, he just allows you to fuck yourself on him.
“Fuck, fuck.” You tilt your head back, moaning loudly as your walls squeeze around him. Your nails drag down his chest as you roll your hips, guiding yourself through your own high.
“My turn.” Colby moves you onto the bed, flipping you over onto your stomach. He pulls your hips up, instantly sliding back into you.
You grip the blanket beneath you, moaning out as his thrusts aren’t anywhere close to being gentle.
His hand comes down with a hard crack to your ass and you moan out, “Again.”
He chuckles lowly and doesn’t again, same spot, which earns a whimper from you, “Fuck, Colby.”
His hand slides up into your hair, gripping tightly to pull your head back. He leans forward, looking down at you, “What will it take for you to give up, turn it back on? Hmm.”
You roll your eyes, averting your stare away from him, “Why won’t you just give up already?”
“Because.” He leans down to whisper into your ear, “I love you, and I want nothing more than a life with you.”
You scoff, throwing your hips back to meet his, “Shut up.”
He sighs, moving back to grip both of your hips with his hands, “It’ll be rough at first but I promise to be there.”
“Mhm.” You bite down on your lip, fighting back giving him any satisfaction through your moans. He pulls you back to meet each of his thrusts, making it harder for you to continue fighting.
“Just flip it back, baby.”
“Colby.”
“Cmon. We can have a good life.”
You bend down, burying your face into the bed to moan. Your curses are muffled by the thick comforter and soon enough you feel Colby twitch inside, coating your walls with his cum.
He pulls out and flops down next to you.
You lay down and look over at him, “We can have a good life just how it is. No strings attached. You not trying to make me go back to the hellhole of a town.”
“You don’t want to face that Raya is gone. I get that. But having your humanity off isn’t helping anyone, y/n.”
You stare at him, “It’s helping me, and aren’t I the most important person in my life?”
“Well yeah, but-“
“Then problem solved. I’m happy now.” You move to stand up, “I’m going for a shower. You gonna be here when I get out?”
“Do you want me to be?” He sits up and you shrug, “I don’t really care what you do, Colby.” You walk into the bathroom and close the door.
After your shower, you walk back out, “You’re still here. I am not surprised at all.” You roll your eyes and walk over to sit down on the bed.
“I told you, I’m relentless.” Colby chuckles and sits up from laying down, “I care about you. Even if you told me to die. Even if you snapped my neck. I’m not giving up on you.”
“Do you ever stop talking?” You glance back at him as you stand up to put your sweats back on, “Because I haven’t slept all night and I could really use some sleep.”
“Fine. Take a nap.” Colby motions to the bed as he lays back down and you sigh, putting on your shirt before you sit back down, “Whatever.”
You lay down and stare at the wall, taking a few deep breathes before you fall asleep.
“Hey wait up.”
You stop, running around to see Raya running towards you, “Hey! I thought you weren’t coming back for another few days.” You pull her in for a hug, “I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you. The trip was boring, and I missed my best friend.” She leans back, “Please promise me you won’t turn off your humanity.”
“Why would I do that?” You tilt your head, giving her a laugh, “That’s the worst thing a vampire can do.”
“I know, but just in case anything happens to me, I don’t need you going off the rails and making everyone’s life hell.” She raises her brows, “Please.”
You shake your head, “Why are you all of a sudden worrying about that? What’s going to happen to you?”
“I’m going to die, y/n, and I need you to be okay with that and know that it wasn’t your fault.”
You step back, “Stop it.” She reaches out for you but you slap her hand away, “You’re not here.” She nods, “I am. I’m always with you, but not if you’re not you.”
“Colby!” You scream, “Get out of my head!”
You snap awake, pushing him away from you hard. He falls off the bed and to the floor, slowly standing up, “You know it’s what she would have wanted. She wouldn’t be happy with you right now.”
“She’s dead. Colby.” You swing your legs off of the bed, “She isn’t coming back.”
“Exactly. She isn’t coming back! Why do you want to block out the memories of her? Because you can’t handle a little pain? Y/n, I’ve seen you pull a wooden stake out of your stomach without flinching.”
“That. No. This isn’t the same as that.” You stand up, “You fucking lied to me. You said you didn’t have a trick and yet you fucking lied to me.”
You grab the chair next to you and smash it, leaving only a wooden leg in your hand, “I should have never fucking trusted you.”
You raise your arms and Colby knocks your legs out from under you, pinning you down on the floor, “Stop. Fighting it. Let the feelings in.”
“Get. Off. Of. Me.” You say through gritted teeth, “Now!”
“No.” Colby shakes his head and moves to grab your head.
“So.. you like y/n?” Raya teases Colby, “You know she likes you too right? I mean, you guys wouldn’t flirt like you do if there wasn’t something between you guys, right?”
Colby nods, smiling a big smile, “Yeah. Yeah. I just know she has a lot on her plate right now. Her mom leaving, her college studies.” He shrugs, “I’m here for her though. She knows it.”
Raya laughs, shaking her head, “God I hope I get to see the two of you get married.”
“Whoa, hey. We haven’t even had a first date yet.” Colby laughs and she smiles, “Just man up and ask her already. You know she’ll say yes.”
“What-“ you blink, “No, let me see her again!” You grab Colby’s head, “Let me see her again!”
“Y/n.. I-“
“Don’t. Don’t even say you can’t because I know there’s more. Colby, please.” Your voice breaks and you feel tears welling up in your eyes, “P-please.”
“Let it in. Y/n. I’m right here.” Colby cups your cheek and you close your eyes, flipping the switch.
You burst into tears, falling into him as everything you’ve pushed off floods in like a dam bursting. You can’t even speak, your sobs take over and Colby holds onto you tight, “I got you, sweetheart.”
His hand rubs up and down your back as you sob against his chest, “I-I’m so-so sor-ry.”
“It’s okay. It’s okay.” Colby kisses your head, “I get it. If anything were to happen to you.. I’d flip it off, too.”
You look up at him, “Thank you.. for bringing me back..” you sniffle, “I’m sorry I put you through hell.. and-and broke your neck and I-“
You sob again and Colby chuckles slightly, “It’s fine. It’s fine. Just relax. Deep breathes.” He presses a kiss to your head, “I’ll do anything for you. I love you.”
“E-even after ev-“
“Even after everything.”

Tracey rambles about Tron Ares again
Tron Ares fills me with so much dread, each passing day is like a countdown to the death of a franchise I care so much about.
The producer, title & main character, is literally Joker Morbius alleged pedophile since the early 2000s himself Jared Leto. That alone ruins the movie for me, and yet every following bullet point makes everything about and around it so much worse.
-Premise is explicitly "What if the Grid came to the real world".
NO, the interesting part of the series is THE GRID, where all of the deeply meditative commentary about our world and visually interesting splendor is supposed to be! Yes we had the lingering plot thread of Quorra coming to our world, however;
-Nothing directly tied to Tron Legacy is specifically being followed up
So no seeing where Sam Flynn could have taken Encom, no Quorra adjusting to our world, No Edward Dillinger Jr scheming with the resurrected MCP; But most disrespectfully of all, they didn't even bother to get Bruce Boxleitnter back, THE GUY WHO PLAYS TRON (and Alan Bradly & Rinzler). The one guy who actively loved this series and campaigned for a Third Tron film for over a decade, and previously Tron Legacy for even longer. But you know who they are bringing back?
-Kevin Flynn is back
THE GUY WHO FUCKING DIED IN THE LAST MOVIE. Undermining the noble sacrifice that was integral to the core themes of the film.
And just today we got this:
Tumblr media
This is so far from an advancement design wise of the Light Cycle from either film. None of the simple shape language of the original. None of the sleek visual melding of human & technology of Legacy. While the light cycle was always cool for being a futuristic video game-ass motorcycle, its was just one of the multitude of visual elements that served the thematic purposes of Tron flawlessly.
Meanwhile, this not only physically separates the driver from the cycle, they further emphasize it through all the little gaps where there were none on either prior design. They so easily could've had the red line on Ares connect into the obviously aligned part of the bike.
Even if this is meant to show the separation of the programs from the grid for some thematic element we're unaware of at the moment, we're already going to be getting a lot of that considering the movie takes place in an average ass city.
Also, to be truly nitpicky, it looks really uncomfortable to sit in & I don't like all the added greebles.
To circle back around, what I really hate about the cast, besides the obvious one, is that there are a lot of actors who I think will work extremely well in the world of Tron. Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Evan Peters? Inspired casting choices.
Meanwhile production wise we're literally taking David Fincher's collaborator trifecta. Jeff Cronenweth (Cinematographer), Tyler Nelson (Editor), and Trent Reznor (Composer, backed up by Nine Inch Nails) all worked on The Social Network, another one of my favorite films. Jeff is literally the son of Blade Runner's cinematographer, Nelson was co-editor on The Batman, a film with incredible pacing thanks to their hardwork, and while I'm not the most familiar with Reznor's full body of work, I've sincerely liked everything I've heard and think in conjunction with Jeff & Tyler he will make something fantastic and fitting for the tone of this film.
However, the screenplay is done by the writer of Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, and is being handled by the director of Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Choices that feel at odds with the prestige praise I was just handing out a paragraph ago.
Theres so many good elements that are eclipsed by its central glaring protagonist, seeming lack of the interesting setting/designs or integral thematic elements that I look for in Tron, and lack of expectation regarding the choice of director & writers.
Because my two greatest fears are not about if the movie is awful and destroys the franchise as I'm expecting it could, it's either:
What if the movie is genuinely good? Well acted and performed, somehow actually has the same level of philosophical inquiry that Legacy & Identity have? How am I gonna face that reality with the enormous horrific issue starring in it?
What if the movie is bad in everyway that I think it will be, but does financially and/or critically better than the first two? The franchise is not killed again, but revives and bases everything going forward around this awful outlier in the series?
Unless this movie fails so horrifically that Disney wants to scrub it from existence, as they tend to do, the future of any Tron media will undeniably be forced to cohere itself to the existence of Ares.
If you want something that actually expands on the musings and universe of Tron, play Tron Identity. A game so lovingly crafted for fans of those elements of Tron as a connected series. And I know this factually, as the writer of the game itself (who also created Thomas Was Alone) watched my twitch stream of it and confirmed my ramblings about the deep seeded lore and intent of design of the TREES that appear in the game. Only one example of the incredible attention to detail the game delivers on. Plus its also getting a sequel that unlike Ares, I'm awaiting with bated breath.

Lazarus: An Autopsy
So. I just got back home, and though I have to get up at stupid o'clock for work tomorrow morning, I am sitting down at my computer to give you all as much of a detailed write-up of the table read as I can. Please bear in mind these are my and Fern's opinions personal opinions, so if you disagree with anything said here, that's totally fine! This is all coming from the perspective of people who have been in the fandom since 2012 and 2009 respectively, and both of us love the show very dearly.
Now, without further ado - here is a summary and discussion of the table-read of the pilot episode of Lazarus. The detailed write-up is under the cut, but I want to share this shaky train-doodle I banged out on the way home to give shape to my own feelings:
Tumblr media
Set Up
This was a dramatic table-read, meaning actors were sat on stage, taking the roles of the main and side characters, plus one narrator who read out the scene-set ups in the script. This was a complete reading of the pilot-episode as it would have aired on TV, complete with songs playing over the speakers as they appeared in the show (off the top of my head - Another Brick In The Wall, Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Ukulele Version), Life on Mars (yes they went there), Merry Christmas Everybody, and several more). It's important to note that this was not performed by the original actors; rather, they brought in a troupe of actors associated with the BFI, called the BFI Players. Unfortunately they aren't credited on the BFI website and there were no printed programme notes, so I can't tell you their names. Notably, though, Ashley Pharoah (co-writer of LoM) was present; after the table-read, there was a short-ish Q&A session.
Lazarus Pilot: A Summary
We start in 2024, with a car chase. Sam Tyler, now DCI of Internal Affairs of Greater Manchester Police, is hot on the pursuit of a Constable who we later learn has raped multiple women while on duty. Notably, Sam is driving exactly the way Gene would, ignoring regulations, nearly running over pedestrians and a cyclist. Sam apprehends the PC on the campus of Manchester University, which is filmed by the assembled students of the lecture that's been interrupted (a quote from the script: "heteronormative queer trans students") - that video subsequently goes viral as another example of police violence. It's clear that the PC is guilty of his crime, but he's let off, and most of CID pretty much turns against Sam. Sam's DI, incidentally, is biromantic and asexual, which is also turned into a joke with Sam making some acephobic remarks.
The next day, Sam finds the rapist PC dead - hanging from a lamppost as though he's died by suicide. CCTV reveals that about an hour before his death, a car idled in front of his home, and the PC had hurled abuse at said car. The driver cannot be seen. That same car is seen at a carehome in Didsbury, idling there just like it did in front of that house... and that car is also confronted, by none other than a geriatric Gene Hunt.
Here is where we start to realise that this Sam is different. It seems he never went back to 1973. He never had that accident, he never met Gene Hunt - he is, however, married to Annie Cartwright (only until half of the episode though, at which point she says they need to get a divorce). A lot of anachronisms going on here, but those will get explained a little later in the episode. Sam also starts having visions - first of a Space Hopper that keeps passing him by, later Clangers from the Planet of the Clangers appear to him. He keeps remembering lines we've heard in Life on Mars ("I never stitched anyone up who didn't deserve it", "If you can feel things you are alive, but it's when you can't feel things that you know you aren't alive", etc). Eventually, he goes to visit Gene in the care home and invites him for a drive, to see if that will jog any memories.
Gene, however, has other ideas - he eventually forces Sam to stop by the roadside, insisting "I'm going back! I'm going BACK!" The two start arguing, and then it devolves into a physical fight, which pushes them into the road... at which point, they are both his by a car. A red Audi Quattro, in fact, and just as everything fades to black, we see someone with white cowboy boots and a white leather jacket get out of the car...
1977. Sam wakes up utterly hungover in the Cortina, next to Gene who's driving. These are their 70s selves. They get to the station, where they find out that they've both been suspended due to Gene assaulting the Superintendent ("I didn't assault him, I strategically placed him... in a bin."). The department has been disbanded and taken over by none other than Derek Litton. Sam and Gene leave, with Sam driving home... to his wife Annie. On his way, he realises that he must have dreamt about 2024, and obviously doesn't understand what is going on. He talks to Annie about it, who becomes upset that he's starting to talk about all the future stuff again. It becomes clear that the case that Sam was investigating in 2024 (the dead rapist PC) is mirrored in 1977. And, crucially, near the end of the episode we realise that Gene also has memories of what we saw happen in 2024... and just at the end, when Annie is on her own, she suddenly sees the video footage mentioned at the very top (the fight at the MU) playing on the TV, and realises that Sam was telling the truth.
The Good
Let me start with the really enjoyable part of this afternoon - the actors who performed the script for us. They all did a brilliant job, especially Sam's actor. I'm pretty sure he must have studied up on John Simm's performance, because he got Sam's tone and cadence so closely to the original that I could really believe he was the character. The production was done well too, with the songs being played over the speaker system; plus, the narrator was absolutely brilliant at setting the scene, reading the descriptive bits of the script with loads of character and humour. The other actors were great too (Litton got a fantastic impression). The only one I wasn't convinced by was Gene's actor, because he gave his Manc accent a very theatric drawl that sometimes made him sound like a pirate. Definitely didn't come close to Philip Glenister's brilliant delivery of his lines.
Speaking of lines, there were some genuinely funny jokes in this. The whole scene with Litton was hilarious, and some of the modern-day jokes landed quite well too (Sam's DI pulls an "ok boomer" on him, to which he responds "that's Gen X I'll have you know").
And of course, I have to mention that it was SO LOVELY to meet a bunch of you in person!!!! It was lovely to chat, and thank you especially to @bisexualroger and friends who came and said hello, you genuinely made my day 🥹 The Bad
Sigh. Buckle up.
This table-reading really cemented for me what I've been saying for several years: The writing in Life on Mars is very mediocre. What made the show so amazing and special was the fact that the crew and actors took that material and elevated it to the heights we know and love. If you take that away... All of its shortcomings become very glaring.
This was even more obvious with Lazarus. Although we have to remember that this was a pilot, which means it was basically a sales pitch to studios and as such they tried to cram as much exciting stuff into it as possible, on the whole it just came across as very confused and embarrassingly self-referential. The characters often (but not always) came across as caricatures of themselves. The script often pointed out the race/ethnicity of characters in ways that felt very unnecessary and strange (more on that later). Most of the dialogue that took place in 2024 was incredibly stilted (again, more on that in a little bit). Most crucially, although it's clear that Lazarus was trying to bring Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes together to tie them up in a neat little bow, it just felt far too all over the place, even for a set-up episode (Lazarus as a whole was planned to be two series with 6 episodes each, like LoM). The Ugly
Basically, this show was supposed to be commentary on the present-day commentary between the public and the police... written from the perspective of two Old White Men(tm) with an unhealthy amount of nostalgia for the past who seem to think of the police as literal guardian angel, which is why they made Gene an actual angel (this is confirmed by what Ashley told us the ending of Lazarus would have been, which I will write up tomorrow because this would be too much for this post).
So, what does that mean in practice? It means that everything that was set in 2024 was an absolute shitshow. There were jokes about "wokeness" in every scene - things such as gender identities, diversity, ethnic food, vegan food, recycling, climate activism and more were only ever played for laughs, with a clear emphasis that everything was better in the "good old days". Especially all the jokes about gender and sexuality made me so angry, seeing as the fandom who has kept the show alive for the last 10 years is overwhelmingly queer.
Worse than that, this show would have been absolutely choc-full of copaganda. We already learn in the pilot that the entire philosophy is that "bad cops" are simply "rotten apples" that need to be removed from the force, which can only happen from the inside (this is Sam's role as DCI of Internal Affairs). And also, the public are just way too mean to cops, for no reason whatsoever - this is very literally shown in a scene in 2024 where a male PC touches a drunk woman's arm in sympathy and she yells at him "DON'T TOUCH ME", whereas in a mirrored scene in 1977 we see a PC giving a woman advice, who seems to be extremely grateful for it and even squeezes his hand for it. Which, if you know ANYTHING about what was going in Manchester at the time, in the wake of the Yorkshire Ripper and the associated police failings, is laughable at best, and an insult at worst.
Furthermore, during the Q&A, Ashley Pharoah unintentionally told on himself and Matthew Graham. I'm paraphrasing, but he basically said that when they both realised during the watchalong on twitter back in 2021 there still were a lot of fans of the show, that's when they felt compelled to properly give Lazarus a go. It very much came across as him saying "we loved the attention and wanted more of it, oh and also we thought we had something to say about the state of affairs regarding the police". Which, as I have laid out above, frankly is a sick joke. After everything that's happened - the protests in 2020, the way police forces in the whole country handled the Sarah Everard case, the fact that the current Chief Superintendent of GMP is an old conservative guy - the fact that Matt and Ash had the audacity to shop a show like Lazarus around to be picked up for TV is... astonishing. The confidence of white men, eh?
In Conclusion
Both Fern and I are very, extremely glad that Lazarus was not, and never will be made into a TV show. We are very glad that we get to keep Sam, Gene, Annie and all the others as they are. And we are also very glad that we went to this table-read, since we can now stop wondering what could have been. It's done and dusted. And, funnily enough, this has invigorated my fandom fire for LoM. I now want to create art of the characters I've come to know and love, to reinforce who they are to me. They are our characters now, Ashley and Matt. You don't get to play with them anymore. You don't get to twist them and put them through the wringer.

Worked Up | Jey Uso x Single Mother!Reader
tw: mentions of an abusive ex, not detailed. My other fics are still in the works, I just can't let go of an idea once I get it. It's a curse.
(Also writing in second person is weird and I feel like I suck at it!! But whatever, enjoy!! <3)
When you and Jey first started talking, you were hesitant to tell him about your son, your pride and joy.
Your son, Joshia, was the driving force in you finally leaving your abusive ex, Tyler.
Finding out you were pregnant was one of the scariest days of your life, you no longer had just yourself to worry about. Now there was a life growing inside of you, meaning you couldn't afford to risk your body dealing with Tyler.
He was too dangerous to outright confront, so you did what you thought was best, and left him a few days after finding out.
That was over three years ago. Thanks to your estranged sister, Samantha, you found a steady job, and a place to stay.
Working with your older sister was strange at first, but you two easily fell into a rhythm like no other. It helped that you were doing your dream job. It might not seem like a huge deal to anyone else, but doing the hair, makeup and wardrobe for WWE Superstars was truly an amazing job. It required skill that most did not have, it made you valuable. Needed.
It was at work where you met Jey. You two hit it off almost instantly, and soon found yourselves flirting. That flirting evolved into talking pretty quickly.
It was Sam that brought up introducing Jey to Joshia, though not without commenting on how similar Jey's real name was to his.
With a roll of your eyes, you sipped your coffee and sighed.
"What if he freaks on me and bails? Work would be so awkward."
Sam squinted at you, lightly scoffing. "You know Jey loves kids, right? I think he'd like Joshia. You're thinkin' way too hard, Jey isn't that deep.
Plus, I love my nephew, but girl…if I have to watch another season of Miraculous Ladybug, I may die!"
You couldn't think of any rebuttal, so you just flicked a piece of your pastry at her. "Shut up, I ain't even ask for your opinion. And that show is good, admit it."
"You did, but whatever!" You can tell she agrees about the show being interesting, but won't give you the satisfaction.
That conversation was almost a month ago, and the entire time you were going back and forth with yourself on how to bring it up to him.
Sam wouldn't be willing to babysit while you went on dates with Jey forever, and hiring a nanny to work longer hours than you currently do felt like a terrible move; so you knew you'd have to tell him sooner or later.
You just didn't anticipate sooner being so soon.
You had a week off from work, as you weren't needed for hair and makeup or costume design, you decided to use some of your remaining vacation days.
Your original plan was to tell Jey about Joshia and hope that the week away from one another would be enough time for him to decide whether things were worth continuing.
You hadn't counted on Joshia getting sick, or Jey showing up at your door on the first day of your vacation.
Your hair was all over the place, your clothes were a mess, and Joshia was perched on your hip, wailing loudly into your ear, despite all attempts at soothing him.
When you answered the door, Jey's expression was visibly confused. You wanted to slam the door.
You wanted to pretend you still had a say in whether you told him about your son, but instead remained frozen in place.
"You babysitting or something?"
Before you could answer, your son was whining. "Mama, hurts…"
The very evident discomfort in his voice had you turning away from the man in your doorway, your hand rubbing up and down Joshia's back in an effort to calm him.
"I know, baby, I know. The medicine will help, we just have to give it time."
His crying dies down considerably at your words, but you can tell he doesn't feel any better and for a moment you consider taking him to the hospital. If for no other reason than to have an excuse to get Jey out if things turned south. Not that you thought they would, but you could never be too safe.
Jey clears his throat softly, and your head whips back to look at him.
"He's cute, Uce. What's his name?"
His tone is softer than it was previously, there's a warm smile on his lips. You can tell he has other questions, but is saving them for the moment.
"His name is Joshia."
At your response, Jey raises a brow.
"Yeah, yeah, I know; your names are similar. Sam won't let me hear the end of it."
It's when Jey laughs that you realize he's still outside, so you step aside and watch as he slips into the house.
It's the first time he's ever gotten to come inside, you usually meet him at the front steps or at whatever hotel you were staying at for work, whilst Joshia was usually with the hired nanny. The nanny, Riah, spent most of the week with him, before dropping Joshia off to your father until you were done for the week.
From there, Sam helped you.
It was never easy, and sometimes you considered quitting, if only to spend more time with your son; but when those doubts came up, Sam would quickly shut them down. The first few times she thought it was financially challenging to pay an overnight babysitter, and had offered repeatedly to help you pay, but you reassured her that wasn't the case. It was just difficult doing this without a partner. You never wanted Sam to think you were ungrateful for her sacrifices, because you were anything but, so it wasn't often you brought up your worries.
Maybe if Tyler was a better man, you could've trusted him to know you were pregnant, and ultimately know his son, but you'd given up on that pipe dream shortly after Joshia was born. He would never be allowed to see him, if you had any say, but you knew one day he'd start asking about his father, and you weren't sure if you could lie to him when the time came.
Right now though, none of that mattered. Because the man you were slowly falling for, was in your home. He was seeing your son for the first time, without any clue he existed to begin with.
Toys littered the floor in some places, there were blankets all over the couch and your coffee table was covered in various sippy cups, from throughout the day.
It should've embarrassed you, but Jey seemed completely unfazed by it all.
He seemed to almost welcome it.
From then on, the bulk of your vacation was spent with Jey, the two of you taking care of Joshia together. It was weird at first, Jey hadn't really interacted with Joshia at all, instead opting to do things like preparing meals, bottles and whatever else needed to be done so that you could focus on Joshia.
On Wednesday, you'd fallen asleep on the couch after putting Joshia to bed, Jey was in the kitchen cleaning up.
At least he had been. But when you woke up from your impromptu nap, he was nowhere to be seen.
You were afraid he left at first, but instead of worrying about it, you went to check on Joshia. He was your number one priority, even when he was starting to feel better.
When you entered your son's room, you quickly stopped in your tracks.
Jey was sitting in the rocking chair in the corner of Joshia's room, cradling the small boy in his arms as the chair swayed softly. When you stepped closer, you saw that they were both asleep, so you grabbed a blanket and draped it over them; deciding you'd wake them up to transition to beds after a quick shower.
Leaning down, you press a kiss to Joshia's head and then Jey's before turning to step out the room. Jey's sleepy rumble pausing your movements.
"You ain't gettin' rid of me now, Y/N. You know that law, he fell asleep on my chest, I'm stuck here forever." When you look over at him, he's smiling at you. You smile back, shaking your head.
"I'm pretty sure that 'law' is about cats, Josh."
Jey playfully glares at you, "nah, it's about cute two year olds that drool on your shirt, too Mamas. It's what life is all about."
You raise your eyebrow, humming. "I'll take your word for it then. And a shower, I'm gonna go take a shower."
You watch as he shifts in the chair, readjusting himself and Joshia so they're more comfortable, before nodding. "I ain't tryna' rush you, but…hurry up. I wanna cuddle, and my back starting to hurt."
You detect the slight whine in his voice, a small chuckle leaving you. "You got it, Chief."
He sucks his teeth, "man, go wash ya' ass." Just to annoy him a little, you stand there unmoving.
He waits a beat before huffing. "Babyyyy, my ass is gonna go numb."
"I'll massage it, don't worry."
He laughs a bit too loud at that, if the way Joshia wiggles in his sleep and huffs is anything to go by. His tiny cheeks filled with air before he settled down again.
"See, even little man is on my side."
You decide not to mention that he'd almost woken Joshia up, instead you raise your hand defensively.
"I'm goin', I'm goin' no need for you two to get all worked up, jeez!"
You playfully flip your hair before scurrying out the room, laughing to yourself at the sound of Jey's distant chuckle of disbelief.
You were worried to tell Jey about Joshia for nothing it seems. They would get along just fine, Jey hadn't run for the hills and had actually stuck around to help you take care of your unwell son. He had no obligation to you, yet he chose to put himself in this position.
He wanted this, he wanted you.

Supernatural (Dean Winchester x Female!Reader)
Tumblr media
Yellow Fever
Masterlist
"Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, Agent Kramer, meet Frank O'Brien." the coroner said to me and the boys as he opens up a body bag. "He died of a heart attack, right?" Sam asked. "Three days ago." the coroner said, nodding. "But O'Brien was 44 years old and, according to this, a marathon runner." I said as I look through the man's file.
"Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security." The Coroner said. "Yeah, but Frank kicked it here. Now, just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee. All heart attacks, you don't think that's strange?" Dean asked the coroner. "Sounds like Maumee's problem to me." the coroner said then he looks between us.
"Why's the FBI give a damn, anyway?" He asked us. "We just want to see the results of Frank's autopsy." I said. "What autopsy?" the Coroner said and the boys and I share a look. "The one you're gonna do." Dean said.
Moments later, the coroner cuts open the dead body but then he looks between the three of us. "First dead body?" he asked us. "Far from it." Dean said as Sam and I shake our head. "Oh, good. Because these suckers can get pretty ripe." The coroner said then he looks over at Dean.
"Hey, hand me those rib cutters, would you?" he asked. Sam and I take a fortifying breath while Dean picks up the cutters and hands it to the Coroner. The Coroner cuts the ribs open while Sam keeps himself from squirming and I bite my lips when I noticed some sort've marking on Frank's finger.
"Is that from a wedding ring? I didn't think Frank was married." I said. "Ain't my department." the coroner said as he cuts the ribs open. "Any idea how he got these?" Sam asked as he picks up Frank’s arm, which is full of scratches.
"You know what? When you drop dead, you actually tend to drop. Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground." The coroner said, sounding a bit annoyed of our questioning, then he looks into the body. "Huh!" the coroner said, confused.
"What?" Sam asked. "I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." The coroner said then he breaks off the heart while Dean tries not to vomit. "Heart looks pretty damn healthy." he said then he hands the heart to Dean. "Hold that a second, would you?" He asked me and I see Sam smirking. Dean glares at him and holds the heart as the Coroner cuts something else in the body.
Then some blood hit me and Sam in the face. "Oh, sorry. Spleen juice." The coroner said, apologetically, and Dean smirks at us.
After that mess, Sam, Dean and I were sitting down in front of Deputy’s desk, waiting. The Deputy smiles at me and Dean just as the Sheriff opens his office door. "Hell's bells, Linus, have you seen my...." He said then he noticed us. "Who are they?" the Sheriff said as the boys and I stand up.
"Federal agents. I, uh...." Linus said but then the Sheriff speaks up. "And you kept them waiting?" he asked him and Linus looks taken aback. "You, you said not to disturb." Linus said then the Sheriff turns to me and the boys. "Come on back, fellas." he said and we walk over to Sheriff’s office but Sheriff stops us.
"Shoes off." He said and the boys and I share a look before we take our shoes off and walk into the office. "Al Britton. Good to meet you." he said as he shakes our hands. "You too." Sam said and the Sheriff gestures for us to sit down. "Thank you." I said as we sit down. Then Britton takes out alcohol gel and start slathering his hands. Dean looks at me and Sam with a weird look on his face.
"Okay. So, what can I do for Uncle Sam?" Britton asked us. "Well, we're looking into the death of Frank O'Brien. We understand some of your men found his body." I said to him. "They did. Me and Frank, we were friends. Hell, we were Gamecocks." Britton said and Dean snickers and I elbow him in the side. Britton gives him a stern look and Dean looks abashed.
"That's our softball team's name." Britton said and Dean nods. "They're majestic animals. I knew Frank since high school. To be honest, I just this morning got up the strength to go see him. Frank was...He was a good man." Britton said. "Yeah. Big heart." I said, a bit of sarcasm in my voice.
"Before he died, did you notice Frank acting strange? Maybe scared of something?" Sam asked Britton. "Oh hell, yeah. Real jumpy." Britton replied. "You know what scared him?" Sam asked him. "No. Wouldn't answer his phone. Finally, I sent some of my boys over to check on him, and well, you know the rest." Britton said then he starts and pours alcohol gel on his hands again. Dean looks over at me and Sam with a look of bewilderment.
"So, why the Feds give a crap? You don't really think there's a case here?" Britton asked us as he slathers the gel on his hands. "No, no. It's probably nothing. Just a heart attack." Dean said as he looks at me and Sam.
Later, we walk out of the office and head to the Impala. "No way that was a heart attack." Dean said. "Definitely no way." I said as Sam nods. "Three victims, all with those same red scratches. All went from jittery to terrified to dead within 48 hours." Sam said. "Something scared them to death." I said and Sam nods.
"All right, so what can do that?" Sam asked. "What can't? Ghosts, vampires, chupacabra? It could be a hundred things." Dean lists off. "Yeah. So, we make a list and start crossing things off." I said. "Alright, who's the last person to see Frank O'Brien alive?" Dean asked. "Uh, his neighbour, Mark Hutchins." Sam said then Dean stops.
"Hang on, hang on." he said, making us stop. "What?" Sam and I asked him then Dean turns to face us. "I don't like the looks of those teenagers down there." he said and Sam and I look around and see some teenagers talking near the Impala. "Let's walk this way." Dean said and he crosses street while Sam and I stand there then we share a perplexed look.
"Tyler, Perry and Kramer. Just like Aerosmith." Mark Hutchins said as we enter his home, which had many animals inside and a snake was around Mark. "Yeah, small world. So, the last time you saw Frank O'Brien?" I said as I notice Dean seeing a big lizard and suddenly faces forward, swallowing.
"Monday, he was watching me from his window. I waved at him, but he just closed the curtains." Mark replied. "Hmm. Did you speak to him recently? Did he seem different? Uh, scared?" Sam asked Mark. "Oh, totally. He was freaking out." Mark said and I watch Dean and notice he looks freaked out.
"Do you know, uh..do you know what scared him?" Dean asked. "Well, yeah, witches." Mark replied. "Witches?" Sam said then he, Dean and I look at each other. "Like...?" I asked. "Well, Wizard of Oz was on tv the other night, right? And he said that green bitch was totally out to get him." Mark said and I raise an eyebrow at this.
"Anything else scare him?" I asked him. "Everything else scared him. Al-Qaeda, ferrets, artificial sweetener. Those pez dispensers with their dead little eyes. Lots of stuff." Mark said as I notice Dean looking around again at the animals inside the aquariums.
"So, tell me. What was Frank like?" Sam asked Mark. "I mean, he's dead, you know? I-I don't want to hammer him but, he got better." Mark said. "He got better?" I asked, confused. "Well, in high school he was, he was a dick." Mark said. "A dick?" Sam and I asked. "Like a bully. I mean, he probably taped half the town's butt cheeks together..." Mark said and Dean snickers. "Mine included." Mark added and Dean's smile disappears.
"So he pissed a lot of people off. You think anyone would have wanted to get revenge?" Dean asked and Mark looks at him, confused. "Well, I don't...Frank had a heart attack, right?" Mark said. "Just answer the question, sir." Sam said and Mark thinks for a moment.
"No, I don't think so. Like I said, he got better. And after what happened to his wife." he said and this peaks my interest. "His wife? So he was married." I said and Mark nods. "She died about 20 years ago. Frank was really broken up about it." he said and Mark looks over at Dean.
"Don't be scared of Donny. He's a sweetheart." Mark said to Dean as he pets the snake around him. "It's Marie you got to look out for." Mark said as he nods to couch. "She smells fear." He said and Dean and I look between us and see an Albino snake creeping up from behind the couch. Dean gasps and stays very still while it crawls down his lap while I bit back a scream.
Dean and I were sitting in the Impala, after looking up about Frank's wife, when I notice him scratching his left arm. "You okay?" I asked him and he looks over at me. "Yeah...I'm fine." He said, but his voice was a bit shaky like he was nervous. "Dean, you sure you're okay? You've been acting strange lately." I said but before Dean could respond, Sam climbs into the backseat of the car.
"Hey. Any luck at the county clerk's office?" he asked us. "I'm not sure I'd call it luck. Frank's wife, Jessie, was a manic-depressive. She went off her meds back in '88 and vanished. They found her two weeks later, three towns over. Strung up in her motel room, suicide." Dean explains.
"Any chance Frank helped her along to the other side?" Sam asked. "No, Frank was working the swing shift when she disappeared. Airtight alibi." I tell him as Dean turns on car.
"How was Frank's pad?" Dean asked Sam. "Clean. Searched it top to bottom. No EMF, no hex bags, no sulfur." Sam replied. "So probably no ghosts, no witches, no demons." I said and Sam scoffs at this. "3 down and 97 to go." Dean said. "Yeah." Sam said and I noticed how slow Dean was driving.
"Dean, you're going 20." I said and he turns to me. "And?" he asked. "That's the speed limit." I pointed out. "What? Safety's a crime now?" Dean asked and he drives through intersection, past our hotel.
"Dude, where are you going? That was our hotel." Sam said to him. "Sam, I'm not gonna make a left-hand turn into oncoming traffic. I'm not suicidal." Dean said and I look over at Sam then both of us look over at Dean, confused.
"Did I just say that? That was kind of weird." Dean said as he shakes his head then we hear a noise. "Do you hear something?" I asked and I look over and see Sam taking out the EMF meter, moves it from and to Dean where it makes a sound. "Am I haunted? Am I haunted?!" Dean asked, panicked, as Sam and I exchange a look.
Later, I was standing outside of the Impala, leaning against it, while Sam was on the phone, talking to Bobby. Dean had music blasting from the Impala speakers and I look over and see Dean lying on the front seat doing air drums to Eye of the Tiger.
Sam comes up to us then watches Dean for a moment before he looks over at me. I shrug at this and then Sam bangs on the roof of the car, scaring Dean as he sits up. "Dude." Dean shouts at him and Sam chuckles as Dean gets out of the car.
"Look at this." Dean said and he shows scratches on his arm. "I just talked to Bobby." Sam said as he hands a box of donuts to Dean. "And?" Dean asked as he smells the box of donuts and throws into car. I give Dean a perplexed look as normally he would be tearing into those donuts, acting like he hadn't eating in years.
"Um, well, you're not gonna like it." Sam said. "What?" Dean and I asked. "It's ghost sickness." Sam said. "Ghost sickness?" Dean asked. "What the hell is ghost sickness?" I asked, confused but also curious.
"Okay. Some cultures believe that certain spirits can infect the living with a disease, which is why they stopped displaying bodies in houses and started taking them off to funeral homes." Sam explains. "Okay, get to the good stuff." Dean said.
"Symptoms are you get anxious...Then scared, then really scared, then your heart gives out." Sam explained and I could see Dean's face of shock but a bit of confusion. "Sound familiar?" Sam asked him. "Yeah, but Sam, we haven't seen a ghost in weeks." I said.
"Well, I doubt Dean caught it from a ghost. Look, once a spirit infects that first person, Ghost sickness can spread like any sickness through a cough, a handshake, whatever. It's like the flu. Now, Frank O'Brien was the first to die, which means he was probably the first infected. Patient zero." Sam said. "Our very own outbreak monkey." Dean grumbles, sarcastically.
"Right. Get this, Frank was in Maumee over the weekend. Softball tournament. Which is where he must have infected the other two victims." Sam said. "Were they gamecocks?" I asked. "Cornjerkers." said Sam.
"So, ghosts infected Frank. He passed it on to the other guys and I got it from his corpse?" Dean asked. "Right." Sam said. "So now what, I have 48 hours before I go insane and my heart stops?" Dean asked, a bit panicked. "More like 24." Sam corrected. "Super." Dean grumbles but I furrow my brow.
"But, why him? Why not you or me? I mean, we got hit with the spleen juice." I said to Sam. "Yeah, um, you see Bobby and I have a theory about that too. Turns out all three victims shared a certain, uh, personality type. Frank was a bully. The other two victims, one was a vice principal, the other was a bouncer." Sam said. "Okay." Dean and I said.
"Basically, they were all dicks." Sam said and Dean gives him a look. "So you're saying I'm a dick?" He asked Sam. "No, no, no. It's not just that. All three victims used fear as a weapon, and now this disease is just returning the favor." Sam said. "I don't scare people." Dean said, a bit offended.
"Dean, all we do is scare people." I said, exasperated. "Okay, well then, you and Sam are dicks too." Dean said. "Apparently, I'm not." Sam said. "Whatchu' talking about? I'm an absolute angel." I said and Dean snorts at this. "Yeah, you're something." He mutters and I stick my tongue out at him.
"Whatever. How do we stop it?" Dean asked Sam. "We gank the ghost that started all this. We do that, the disease should clear up." Sam said. "You thinking Frank's wife?" I asked Sam and he shrugs. "Who knows why she killed herself, you know?" he said then he looks over at Dean.
"Hey, what are you doing waiting out here, anyway?" he asked and I sighed. "He's now scared of heights. I've tried to get him to come inside and he argued." I said. "Hey, our rooms on the fourth floor. That's really high!" Dean said, defensively, and I gesture towards Dean to Sam as if to say See what I mean?
"I'll see if I can move us down to the first." Sam said and Dean sighs with relief. "Thanks." he said. "Sure." Sam said as he goes to the front desk of the hotel and Dean climbs into the Impala and looks at donuts.
"Hey..." I said as I look through the window of the car. He turns to look at me and I give a sympathetic look to him. "We'll figure this out." I said and he gives a small nod. "Yeah, we will." He said then he turns his head and looks down. "I've missed this." He said.
"What?" I asked and he looks back at me. "Us. Having a decent conversation. We didn't really talk much since that shapeshifter vampire wannabe fiasco." Dean said and I nod back. "Well...we've been so busy lately, we just haven't had really anytime alone." I said as he looks around a bit. "I'm really good at this apology thing, but I do feel bad about our argument. I couldn't imagine it being one of our last conversations when I found out you were taken and were about to be killed." Dean said. "Awww, you do care." I said in a fake cheery voice and he scoffs.
Dean kept looking around, like he was afraid someone would come up. "Oh, don't worry, honey. I'll protect you." I said then I lean in and kiss the side of his head. "Shut up." He grumbles and I giggle. "Oh, you love me." I said, smiling. “I’m starting to have second thoughts now.” he said and I laugh. “Nope, can’t get rid of me that easily, Winchester.” I said as Sam comes back over to us.
"Well...that was a bust." I tell Sam as we make our way back to the hotel, later that day. "Yeah..." Sam said. "So...what now?" I asked him as we enter the room and see a broken clock on floor. I look around and see Dean on the sofa, drinking beer.
"Everything all right?" I asked him. "Oh, yeah. Just peachy." he said, sarcastically. "Find anything?" he asked us. "Yeah, Jessie O'Brien's body was cremated, so I'm pretty sure she is not our ghost." Sam said and I notice Dean picking at the scratches on his arm. "Hey, quit picking at that." I said and slap his hand and he looks up at me, like a child that had been caught.
"How you feeling?" I asked him. "Awesome. It's nice to have my head on the chopping block again. I almost forgot what that feels like." he said, sarcastically. "Yeah." Sam said. "It's freaking delightful." grumbles Dean.
"We'll keep looking." I assure and Dean starts to cough. "You okay?" Sam asked him and then Dean starts to choke. "Hey!" Sam said, worried, as Dean goes over to the sink. "Dean." I said, worried and fearfully, as I run up to his left side and place my left hand on his shoulder and my right hand runs up and down his back.
Dean begins gagging over the sink where he spits out a wood chip. Sam and I stare at this in shock as Dean recovers. "We've been completely ignoring the biggest clue we have, you." Sam tells him. "I don't want to be a clue." Dean groans.
"The abrasions, this, the disease, it's trying to tell us something." Sam said and I look over at him. "Tell us what, wood chips?" I asked, confused. "Exactly." Sam said and Dean and I stare at him.
Later, Sam takes us to a lumber mill and I could see Dean looking at the mill, apprehensively. "I'm not going in there." he said, fearfully. "Dean, c'mon. You'll be fine." I said and he takes a drink of whiskey. "Let's do this." he said and we get out of the car.
"It is a little spooky, isn't it?" Dean notes as Sam hands him a gun. "Oh, I'm not carrying that. It could go off. I'll man the flashlight." Dean said and Sam sighs at this. "You do that." I said as I hand Dean the flashlight.
We walk around the mill when the EMF goes off. "EMF's not gonna work with me around, is it?" Dean asked. "You don't say." Sam mutters and I shake my head. "Come on." I said as we walk deeper into the mill.
"Wait..." Sam said, which startles Dean, and he picks up an envelope. "To Frank. Love, Jessie." He reads then opens it and see something inside of it. "Frank O'Brien's ring." He said.
"What the hell was Frank doing here?" I asked him. "No idea." Sam said and we walk into a room full of lockers where we hear rustling. We cautiously walk up to the locker we hear the rustling. Sam and I share a look then i look over at Dean, who looked scared. Sam opens a locker and Dean screams after being startled by a cat.
Sam and I stare at him until Dean stops screaming and catches his breath. "That was scary!" he said and Sam shakes his head before he walks away. I walk up to Dean and pat his shoulder as I walk off. "C'mon, Jamie Lee Curtis." I teased as we walk to a different part of the room.
I go to another locker and found an ID card inside of it. I puck it up and read it. "Luther Garland." I said as I turn to the boys and show it while Dean saw something. "Hey, this is uh...this is Frank's wife." He said as he gestures for us to come of and Sam and I stand next to him to see a drawing on the table.
"Plot thickens." Sam mutters. "Yeah, but into what?" Dean said before he tears off the drawing and a machine turn on. Looking around, Dean sees something in the corner. Sam and I look at Dean and see him looking behind us, Sam and I turn around and see the same thing.
"Hey!" Sam and I shout and we turn around and see Dean running out the mill. We shoot the apparition and then go after Dean, who ends up  hiding behind the Impala taking another drink. "Guess we got the right place." I said.
"This is the Garland file." Linus tells me and Sam as he hands a folder to us. Then he looks over out shoulder. "Is he...drunk?" He asked as he nods behind us and I turn and see Dean swaying back and forth. "No." I replied as Sam reads the file.
"Deputy, according to this, Luther Garland's cause of death was physical trauma. What does that mean?" Sam asked him. "The guy died 20 years ago, before my time. Sorry." Linus said. "Then can we talk to the sheriff?" I asked him. "Um, he's out sick today." Linus replied. "Well, if you see him, will you have him call us? We're staying at the Bluebird." Sam said then he holds up the file.
"Mind if I take this?" He asked and Linus shakes his head. "Know what? You're awesome." Dean said to Linus, who looked confused. "Thanks. Um, y-you too, I guess." he said and we leave.
We walk inside an assistant living building when Dean begins to speak. "This isn't gonna work. Come on, these badges are fake. What if we get busted? We could go to jail." he said, panicked, and then a resident walks past us and startles Dean, I turn to him.
"Dean, shh! Calm down. Deep breath, okay?" I said to him, calmly, and Dean takes a deep breath. "There. You feel better?" I asked him and Dean shakes his head no. "Just come on." I said to him and he begins to scratch his arm again. "Don't scratch." I said, sounding like a parent disciplining their child.
Eventually, we come up to an older man and Sam walks up to him and introduces us. "Mr. Garland." Sam said and the man looks over at us. "Hi uh, I'm Agent Tyler. This is Agent Perry and Agent Kramer, FBI. We'd like to ask you a few questions about your brother Luther." He said as he gestures to me and Dean.
"Let me see some I.D." Mr Garland said. "Certainly." Sam said and we show Mr Garland our badges. "Those are real, obviously. I mean, who would pretend to be an FBI agent, huh? That's just nutty." Dean said and I elbow him. "Sorry, he's new." I assured Mr Garland as he looked over at Dean, suspiciously.
After a moment, Mr Garland looks at the badges then hands them back. "What do you want to know?" he asked us. "Uh, well...according to this, your brother Luther died of physical trauma." I said and Mr. Garland scoffs. "You don't agree." Sam stated. "No, I don't." Mr Garland said, firmly.
"Well, then, what would you call it?" I asked him. "Don't matter what an old man thinks." Mr Garland said. "Mr. Garland. We're just trying to get the truth on your brother. Please." Sam pleads and Mr Garland considers this then begins to explain.
"Everybody was scared of Luther. They called him a monster. He was too big, too mean-looking. Just too different. Didn't matter he was the kindest man I ever knew. Didn't matter he'd never hurt no one. A lot of people failed Luther. I was one of them. I was a widower with three young 'uns. And I told myself there was nothing I could do." Mr Garland said.
"Mr. Garland, um...do you recognize this woman?" I asked him as I hold up the drawing of Jessie. "It's Jessie O'Brien. Her man, Frank, killed Luther." Mr Garland said.
"How do you know that?" Sam asked him.  Everybody knows. They just don't talk about it. Jessie was a receptionist at the mill. She was always real nice to Luther, and he had a crush on her. But Frank didn't like it. And when Jessie went missing, Frank was sure that Luther had done something to her. Turns out the old gal killed herself, but Frank didn't know that. They found Luther with a chain wrapped around his neck. He was dragged up and down the stretch outside that plant till he was past dead." Mr Garland explained as the boys and I listen, I frown a bit at this.
"And O'Brien was never arrested?" Dean asked him. "I screamed to every cop in town. They didn't want to look into Frank. He was a pillar of the community. My brother was just the town freak." Mr Garland replied. "You must have hated Frank O'Brien." said Sam and Mr Garland shakes a bit. "I did for a long time, but life's too short for hate, son. And frank wasn't thinking straight. His wife had vanished, he was terrified. A damn shame he had to put Luther through the same, but...that's fear. It spreads and spreads." he said and the boys and I exchange a look.
"Now we know what these are, road rash." Dean said as he holds up his arm and we head to the Impala. "And I'm guessing Luther swallowed some wood chips when he was being dragged down that road." I added. "Makes sense. You're experiencing his death in slow motion." Sam said to Dean. "Yeah well, not slow enough, huh? Say we burn some bones and get me healthy." said Dean.
"Dean, it won't be that easy." I said. "No, no, it'll be that easy. Why wouldn't it be that easy?" Dean asked. "Luther was road-hauled. His body was ripped to pieces. He was probably scattered all over that road. There's no way we're gonna find all the remains." Sam explained. "You're kidding me." Dean said, disbelieving, and he looked angry about this.
"Look, we'll just have to figure something else out." I try to assure him. "You know what? Screw this." Dean said and he starts to walk away. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dean." Sam and I said as he go over to him.
"Come on. No, I mean, come on, guys. What are we doing?!" Dean asked us, in a shaking scared voice. "We're hunting a ghost." Sam said. "A ghost, exactly! Who does that?" Dean asked, panicked. "Us." I said. "Us? Right. And that guys, that is exactly why our lives suck. I mean, come on, we hunt monsters! What the hell?!" Dean exclaims and Sam and I share worried look.
"I mean, normal people, they see a monster, and they run. But not us, no, no, no, we -- we search out things that want to kill us. Yeah? Huh? Or eat us! You know who does that? Crazy people! We...are insane! You know, and then there's the bad diner food and then the skeevy motel rooms and then the truck-stop waitress with the bizarre rash. I mean, who wants this life, guys? Huh? Seriously? Do you two actually like being stuck in a car with me eight hours a day, every single day? I don't think so! I mean, I drive too fast. And I listen to the same five albums over and over and over again, a-and I sing along. I'm annoying, I know that. And you, Sam --you're gassy! You eat half a burrito, and you get toxic!" Dean said and I look over at Sam.
"He's got you there, Sam." I said. "I mean, you know what?" Dean said and he tosses Sam the keys. "You can forget it." he said and he starts to walk away. "Whoa, Dean. where are you going?" I asked him then he turns to us and points at us.
"Stay away from me guys, okay? Cause I am done with it. I'm done with the monsters and -- and -- and the hellhounds and the ghost sickness and the damn apocalypse. I'm out. I'm done. Quit." he said and he walks away.
I turn to Sam, beyond worried. "Sam...we gotta do something." I said and he nods as he pulls out his phone. "I'm calling Bobby." He said as he dials a number then puts it to his ear while I place my hand over my face, holding back my tears.
*3rd Person POV*
Dean was sitting in the hotel room, anxiously, when the door opens and (y/n) walks in. "We looked everywhere for you, Dean. How the hell did you get here?" she asked him. "Ran." Dean said, like it was the most obvious thing. (y/n) sighs and goes to sit next to him.
"What do we do now? I got less than four hours on the clock. I'm gonna die, (y/n)." He said, his voice full of tears, as (y/n) looks ahead of herself. "Yeah, you are." she said and Dean looks puzzled. "You're going back." she said. "Back?" Dean asked, his eyebrow raised.
"Downstairs Dean, hell. It's about damn time, too. Truth is..." (y/n) said then she turns to Dean with yellow-eyes. "...You've been a real pain in my ass." She said and Dean stares at her beyond, terrified, then she throws Dean against wall with a hand gesture.
"No! You get out of my girlfriend, you evil son of a bitch!" Dean yells. "No one's possessing me, Dean. This is what I'm going to become. This is what Sam's going to become. This is what we want to become. There's nothing you can do about it." (Y/n) growled and she starts to choke Dean.
But a second later, the hallucination disappeared and (y/n) was still standing in front of him but she wasn't choking him. She had a look of concern on her face as she had a hand on his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, Dean." she said, worried, just as Sam comes in. "Hey, Dean. Dean. Dean." (y/n) said again as Dean coughs and regains his breathing.
*(y/n)'s POV*
Bout an hour or two later, Sam and I were sitting on the Impala, at the Lumber Mill, as a car drives up. The car shuts off and Bobby gets out of the car. "Howdy, kids." Bobby said. "Hey, Bobby. Thanks for coming so quick." Sam said as he shakes Bobby's hand and I go and hug him.
"Where's Dean?" Bobby asked us. "Uh, home sick." I replied and give Bobby a knowing look then he nods. "So, have his hallucinations started yet?" Bobby asked. "Yeah, a few hours ago." Sam replied.
"How we doing on time?" Bobby asked us. "We saw the coroner about 8:00 a.m. Monday morning, so, uh...just under two hours." I said and Bobby shakes his head. "What about you? You find anything?" Sam asked Bobby. "This uh, enencyclopedia of spirits dates to the Edo period." Bobby said as he gives me a book. I look it over and see it was written in Japanese.
"You can read Japanese?" I asked Bobby and he answers in Japanese. "Guess so, show-off." I retort and Sam laughs. "Anyway, this book lists a kind of ghost that could be our guy. It uh, infects people with fear. It's called a Buru Buru." Bobby replied.
"It say how to kill it?" Sam asked. "Same as usual. Burn the remains." Bobby replied and I sighed. "Wonderful. Uh...is there a Plan B?" Sam asked. "Well, the Buru Buru is born of fear. Hell, it is fear. And the lore says we can kill it with fear." Bobby said and I raise an eyebrow at this.
"So we have to scare a ghost to death?" I asked him. "Pretty much." Bobby replied, nodding. "How the hell we gonna do that?" Sam asked and I think then I get an idea. "Aw, crap." I said and they look over at me. "What?" They asked me. "I think I know what we gotta do...and you boys aren't gonna like it." I said as they give me a look
Minutes later, I call up Dean's phone and it rang only a couple of times before Dean answers. "Hey." He said. "Hey! So, uh, just ride out the trip, okay? You're -- you're gonna be fine. We got a plan." I assure him. "What is it?" Dean asked me. "Uh, just a good plan, all right? Hang in there." I tell him and I hang up.
"This is a terrible plan." Bobby said. "Yeah, tell me about it." Sam said. "I know I said, scare the ghost to death but this?" Bobby said and I turn to him. "Hey, you got a better idea, I'm listening." I said but Bobby doesn't answer.
3rd Person POV*
Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Dean starts to hear barking then the door rattles, breaking off its hinges. Dean turns and sees Britton had entered the room.
"Sheriff?" he asked then he notices the gun in Britton’s hand. "What are you doing?" Dean asked him, confused. "Why are you looking into Luther Garland's death?" Britton asked, angrily and panicked. Then Dean sees blood on the Sheriff’s right arm. "Hey, hey, you're -- you're sick. You're sick. You're sick, all right? Just -- just like me, okay? You got to relax." Dean tried to explain but Britton hits him.
"Frank O'Brien was my friend. So he made a mistake. So I didn't bust him. So what? And you're gonna bring me down over that?! No, sir." Britton exclaims and he points gun at Dean but Dean swats it away and they began to fight.
They punch and throw each other around until Britton starts to hyperventilate. "Get away from me!" he shouts to Dean as he falls on his back to the ground and Dean steps away from him.
"Al, you got to calm down!" Dean tries to assure but then Britton clutches his chest, he's having a heart attack. "Step back!" Britton shouts as he clutches his chest and screams out in pain until he goes limp, leaving Dean staring at him in utter fear.
*(y/n)'s POV*
Later, Sam and I enter the mill and look around for a few moments but there was no sign of Luther. "Any luck?" Bobby asked us through the walkie-talkie. "I don't know what's wrong, Bobby. Last time he came right at us." I said and Sam nods. "Yeah...It's almost like he's, uh...like he's scared." he said then we exchange a look then Sam puts down shotgun.
"So now what?" Bobby asked. "I guess we got to make him angry." I said then Sam steps up. "Hey, Luther!" he shouts as we start to tear up the drawings, that were still hanging up, until the machines turn on. "Come on, Luther! Where the hell are you? What are you waiting for?" Sam shouts then we turn around and see Luther.
He charges at us and we began to fight him. We lure him to the spot we need him in until he backhand me, making me fly across the room. Dazed, I shake my head and see Luther attacking Sam.
I raise my hand, making the chain rise up on its own and gesture to make the chain wrap around Luther’s neck. "Bobby, punch it!" I shout into the walkie-talkie and I hear the roar of the engine and Luther was pulled backwards. Sam and I run out and see his spirit being dragged across the road by the Impala until Luther completely disappears.
I sighed with relief then hug Sam as I see Bobby stop the car and look out of the window at us.
*3rd Person POV
Meanwhile, Dean was sitting at the hotel, trying to stay calm, until he hears barking. He looks down at his watch, wondering how long this plan (y/n) told him would take when he sees something on the floor. He picks it up and sees it’s the Bible.
"Hi, Dean." A little girl voice greets and he turns and sees a small blonde girl in a white dress, Lilith. "Huh, no! No!" he said, panicked, as he stands up. "Yes! It's me, Lilith." the girl said, excitedly, then she embraces Dean.
"Oh, I missed you so much. It's time to go back now." she said and Dean moves away from her. "You you are not real!" He said. "What's the matter, Dean? Don't you remember all the fun you had down there? You do remember. 4 months is like 40 years in hell. Like doggy years. And you remember every second." she said as Dean continues to backwards from her until he falls to the floor.
"You are not real." he said as he clutches his chest. "It doesn't matter. You're still gonna die. You're still gonna burn." She said, smiling. "Why me? Why'd I get infected?" Dean asked. "Silly goose. You know why, Dean. Listen to your heart." she said.
"Whu...?" he asked. "Baboom, baboom, baboom, baboom." Lilith taunts as she hits her fists against her leg. Everytime she said baboom, Dean's heart would start to beat harder and he didn't know which heartbeat would be his last. He tries to stay calm but hearing Lilith's taunts and his heart beating against his chest and ears, he didn't know how much longer he had until, suddenly, it all stopped.
He gasped then looked around to see no Lilith and his heartbeat was back to normal. And that's when he realized whatever (y/n) and Sam did, it worked.
*(y/n)'s POV*
"So you guys road-hauled a ghost with a chain?" Dean asked us as we stood somewhere outside of the town with Bobby. "Iron chain etched with spell work." Sam said. "Hmm, that's a new one." Dean said, impressed. "It was what he was most afraid of. It was pretty brutal, though." I said and Dean shrugs a bit.
"On the upside, I'm still alive, so uh, go team!" He said as he holds up his bottle of beer. "Yeah." Sam said, chuckling a bit. "How you feeling, by the way?" I asked Dean. "Fine." Dean replied.
"You sure, Dean? 'Cause this line of work can get awful scary." Bobby said. "I'm fine. You want to go hunting? I'll hunt. I'll kill anything." said Dean and Bobby smiles. "Awwww, he's adorable." he teases and we laugh.
"I got to get out of here. You kids drive safe." Bobby said as he goes to his car. "You too, Bobby." Sam said. "Hey, thanks." I shout after him as Bobby gets into his car and drives off.
"So uh...so, what did you see? Near the end, I mean." Sam asked Dean after a moment of silence. "Oh, besides a cop beating my ass?" Dean asked and I roll my eyes. "Seriously." I said and Dean looks between us for a moment, he had this look of he wanted to say something but was afraid to.
Before I could ask him, he said.  "Howler monkeys. Whole roomful of them. Those things creep the hell out of me." Sam rolls his eyes and I shake my head. "Right." I said. "No, just the usual stuff, guys. Nothing I can’t handle." he said and he takes a sip of his beer but I still had a feeling Dean was hiding something from us.
But I know how he is with revealing his feelings and thoughts so I don't push it...for now at least.
Outtake
(y/n) was leaning against the front driver side wheel of the Impala, her arms across her chest as Eye of the Tiger begins to play. Everytime the drum beat comes on, Dean's hands would come up to do air drums with the beat. The drums stop as the music continues.
Rising up, back on the street
Dean rises up in his seat as he lipsyncs this line and (y/n) face-palms at this as he continues.
Did my time, took my chances
He pulls his upper body through the window then sits on the windowsill of the car door, still lip-syncing.
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
He bobs his head and does a bit of a dance while (y/n) runs her hand down to cover her mouth then looks up at Dean as he points outwards and moves his arm across the air, like he was pointing at everyone in sight.
Then he goes and scratches his left arm, making (y/n), Sam, the Author and many readers laugh, as he continues with his lip-syncing.
So many times it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
He taps at his chest and at the word glory he points upwards then he gets up on the roof of the Impala and sits on top of it. Then (y/n) removes her hand off of her face then goes to sit on the hood of the car.
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
Dean pops the collar of his outter shirt as he bobs his head to the beat and lipsyncs along. (Y/n) then pulls her legs up and pull them close to her chest as she watches him.
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Dean made his game face, or glare or whatever you call it, as he stares at (y/n) then points to his eyes with his left hand pointer and middle finger then points at her as he lipsyncs those lines. All the while, Sam, the Author and the readers continue their laugh and (y/n) sticks her tongue out at Dean.
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
Dean lipsyncs as he raises both his arms up and points to the sky. Then he brings his right leg up and started to act like it was a guitar.
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
Then he lowers his leg and that's when (y/n) stands up on the hood, leans over and grabs his right hand. He smiles and slowly starts to stand up as the two began to lipsync the last lyric together.
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The duo raised their joined hand as they act like they were holding the note then when they were done, Sam, the Author and the readers cheer. Dean and (y/n) smile then he jumps off of the roof then turns around to her and holds his arms out to her.
She places her hands on his shoulders and he helps her down but only set her feet on the ground for a split second before he starts to carry her bridal style. (Y/n) let's out a surprised squeal as he walks off with her in his arms as everyone cheers and laughs.
(I know that last part is an outtake on the show but I couldn't help myself. I forgot how funny it was and I was like, I gotta add this. So I hope you guys enjoyed!)
