Thoughts about Nea, past!Allen and the next chapter

Okay so I've always wondered why Nea gave up on Allen as his ally so quickly. Allen was one of his closest allies besides Cross and Tim till the time of his death right? He even gave up his body so Nea could execute his masterplan.

Yes, Allen did lose all his memories(or did he?) and somehow ended up in the Black Order. But we know Nea can show him his memories so he should also technically be able to show him past!Allen memories that were locked away? Or atleast memories of himself with past!Allen?

Allen would definitely be torn and overwhelmed and confused after but everyone who has known the "other side of the war" has taken Nea's side so far. And Allen even went so far as to become Nea's vessel in the past. He would definitely take his old friend's side again right? Or even seek out some sort of a middle ground?

Why didn't he do that then? Nea watched all of his memories since Cross started tailing him and Mana. Wouldn't it be easier to have Allen half-cooperate during the little time he has left, instead of having him actively work against him?

There's so much emotion in this one panel here. Confusion, worry, pain, anger, desolation, and maybe even a hint of guilt?

Its like... he just didn't wanna disturb the little equilibrium Allen had managed to create in his life? The little community he had found in the Black Order?

I mean if we think abt it Nea never really wanted to parasitize Allen in the first place(or atleast that's what I think the evidence so far implies). It was just the only option available to them back then. They needed Nea's powers to thwart the Earl & the Noahs' plans. And if Nea died then the Earl would just absorb(?) him and there would be no stopping him after that.

And I think giving up on Allen as an ally was Nea's way of being kind to him. Of returning the favour. Being his ally isn't an easy or pleasant job from what we've seen so far. And Allen would've disappeared anyway from the moment past!Allen transferred Nea's memories to himself. After seeing his attachment to the Order and the friends he made there, maybe he just wanted Allen to disappear with pleasant memories he made at the Order rather than the gruesome memories of being Nea's ally.

This panel in particular is so sad. He was able to give up on Allen as an ally so easily because he still had Tim. Tim was his last remaining ally and then he wasn't. And its particularly cruel how Hoshino pulled this off. He says that he doesn't need anyone else as long as he has Tim and just a few chapters later Apocryphos kills him. Nea must be used to losing allies by now but Tim really was the last real friend he had left(hoshino you cruel cruel woman)

Also the way Link's just bomb dropped the news abt tim?

Imagine hearing your last friend/ally died from some rando and then not even getting the time to process it because your arch enemy's ressurection shows up and somehow has your face? And then you get yeeted back into brain breakroom just as you were about to start beefing with him and the next time you wake up you're in your childhood home which you have mixed, complicated feelings for.

And that's not even getting into the whole 'tim chose allen over nea' thing.

Also if Allen goes back to the mansion and finds Bookman, he's guaranteed to find out atleast part of his past if not the whole. And he would definitely demand to know more from Nea. Will he accept Allen as his ally again now that Tim is gone? Will he accept Link as well? Will he try to kill Johnny again? Will he even be stable enough to consider future plans? Will we ever see Lavi again? We find out next month :D

omg hi <3 i have so many thoughts thank u for asking.. genuinely cross is the most insufferable character of dgm that isn’t an antagonist. and i love him ❤️

we know basically nothing about his backstory but iirc we do know that

- he knew a woman who looked similar to caterina (who might be maria?)

- nea claims he was forced to work with cross despite cross being human because of circumstances

- komui claims that whatever cross did with grave of maria was borderline earl shit and the order was pissed at him for doing it

- cross is older than 75 but hasn’t looked like he's aged

- he does have a functional eye under his mask and i’m pretty sure he can see through the mask too

so my personal theory is that either cross is the "weird uncle cyrus" nea mentioned, or a former bookman/bookman apprentice (because bookman commented that lavi was chosen because of his eye and lo and behold we have another red haired eye coverer !!!!)

a familial connection w the campbells would explain his magic, nea's claim, whatever it is he has with road, and his monologues about mana when he was stalking him. while being a former bookman makes sense because hoshino described him as being the one "closest to the truth"

but as a person.. lol. lmao. he was basically 500% ready to kill a five yr old before maria stopped him. he felt an ounce of guilt about sacrificing allen to nea before drowning his sorrows in wine and saying "whatever LOL." he keeps mooching off of his global polycule or whatever the fuck. his room at the black order looks like a stank den of misery. i mean in character interviews allen said interesting things about him (he was surprisingly patient while coaxing allen to look at an akuma for the second time??? and allen said he misses cross's salty stew ☹️☹️) but cross is going to hell i’m sorry

🎃​He is always a little bashful in his human form when he is around his darling. He may not express this verbally but his hands start fidgeting, his fingers twitching as he tries to suppress the jitters he has, especially if he knows that you are still uncomfortable. Often it results in him loosening the tie he is wearing or crinkling the shirt that he is wearing as a form of stress relief. Perhaps it is because other Noah are usually so well-dressed when they are around you but it starts to bug you a bit, especially when the entire clan gathers. It's honestly just a thoughtless action of yours when you smooth over the wrinkles on his shirt and straighten his tie for him to make him a bit more presentable but it is an action that has his heart flattering nontheless. It almost reminds him of something a couple that has been married for many years now would do regularly and perhaps this is exactly why he kind of wants you to do this for him again. It pretty much becomes a tradition for the two of you throughout the relationship that you always tie him his tie before special events and smooth out any wrinkles still visible on his suit. Adam can never help himself from pressing his lips against your forehead whilst you do so.

While both secret in nature, TBO both being antithetical to HC's views/goals and being a recognized and highly priveleged status symbol among public governments and officials, means HC just... has as little idea abt TBO as everyone else, but they're way more paranoid about it/them

Servants!! Servants and Masters, baybey!!!! Whether they're summoned by Exorcists, or Finders, or stray Invocators, or straight up stray randos viewed as compatable, why get summoned into a grail war when you can get summoned into the Holy War for nothing less than humanity's very survival??? (Dear GOD do they need the help!!!) ((Liably ripperoni to the Akumas the Servants slay, but also maybe not, which is more than what's guaranteed by TBO's other 'additional firepower' methods))

You could similarly justify Servants being summoned for the Noah/assisting them!! While the Servants (and Masters) on the Black Order's side are fighting for Humanity's preservation, those on the Noah's are fighting for Earth's... via eradicating humanity wholesale. Whoopsies!

Aka: I am psspsspssing anyone curious to try DGM!! :] If you're just interested in the premise/setting/tone/lore for this AU specifically, the max you'd need is ~80 chapters (when/before The Ark arc happens), and if you DO like it its updates are max every month n are only at ~250

'how important is this war for humanity's survival anyway?? i mean its literally a shounen--' ignoring how thereve been pub issues due to it veering too dark for shounen label the people trying to wipe out humanity are former humans who are creating an army of monsters via people wanting their deceased loved ones back. these monsters are literally unkillable except by Exorcists or other Akuma. meanwhile, a single scratch from a single Akuma bullet is a guaranteed kill.

The Black Order has a branch in every continent, because where there is People there is grief there are Akuma. The Exorcists? Not even 20 of them including the casualties)

I woke up and yes, the first thing on my mind was an Au where Allen was a s*x hotline operator and Lavi called with little expectations and thinking he would laugh his ass off. He calls but he hears Allen’s voice and he’s more than flustered. Just before they actually start, Bookman interrupts them and Lavi acts his way out.

But then, Lavi discovers Allen is the popular sophomore on his university. He freaks out when he hears his voice in the hallways, and having a face for the memory doesnt help. Luckily or not, Allen doesn’t seem to remember his call. But Lavi doesn’t know Allen does remember his call: He hasn’t payed him yet. So when they’re matched to do a school project together, tension flies through the roof.

Its just a super silly idea, but then I thought: THIS CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY SHIP ON DGM.

Yulma? The funniest bit is to know why and how Kanda called in the first place. Lucky? Tikky has the smoothest lines just followed by derpy remarks that drive Lavi insane about his senior. Allena? Makes it more hilarious if Lena thinks Allen is just the sweet quiet freshman. Komubak? (Ok but Marie and Miranda would be so soft) Angel pair? Poker pair? Yullen? Yuvi? Do I really need to continue?

My writing skills are more than deficient, so someone who’s good at writing please me help me budget this.

I know I kept the interactions between these two to the Aftermaths mainly and then a ton in the Outtakes which I never published but I adore them so much. With the reveal of who past!Allen truly is my variant became fanon ... I adore this character I have created even though he is far from being canon anymore. I hope a few HCs I have will live on in the true Bookman Jr.

But whatever happens I have my small AU and I enjoy having these moments with the dolls of them.

Idk i think it’s more about which kind of presentation they would get. Like Lenalee I could see her with a ballad but with crazy accrobatism in heels that have everyone be “whaaat”

Kanda had been forced to participate and he didn’t want it so halfway through his song he gets irritated and starts to destroy the stage. It wasn’t planned but it gives specifically the sort of visual the Eurovision crowd wanted. Tiedoll mentors him in the Greenroom and had planned all his staging though, and Marie was helping with the music so they’re all upset but not surprised.

I feel like Lavi would do a soulless but popping popsong? Like, something just as fake as his smile in general, but that is such a bop you don’t realize it right away. Might also be linked to some mystical elements he snuck into the texts and visuals. Bookman actually calculated the entierety of Lavi’s performance. All he wants is to be better than Kanda and Allen because he holds a petty rivalry about raising Lavi better. 

Allen would go all out in his prestation, he would put EVERYTHING in his fashion (with the help of Johnny, his manager and stylist for the event). He knows how to manipulate the masses. and would eventually try to be a fair player but when some (Lavi) are annoying him he sneaks behind them in the Green Room to annoy the fuck out of them.

of course Alma gets to participate but tbh I could just see him with a very heartful and earnest song. Everyone gets very surprised when Kanda (who just destroyed half the stage) gets a focus on the camera where he just looks so foundly at Alma. Also Alma sneaks into Kanda’s spot in the green room and doesn’t let go and it is the least grumpy Kanda is for the whole evening.

Krory would be pushed by Timothy, Lavi and Allen, to do the Traditional Vampire Act of the evening. 

Miranda would sing a very nervous ballad and be completely freaked out by being on stage, obviously uncomfortable. She calms down only when Marie, sensing she was feeling unwell, came on the stage to play music to go along with her. 

Timothy is too young to participate so instead he crashes every Green Room’s interviews and try to have them focus on him. He stays closer to Allen’s and Krory’s boot in general though. 

Link... Honestly I think Link would want to do management stuff. I don’t know what sort of music he would do. Help in the Green Room and bring up to the public the points of the jury. that later obviously get him a lot of slack from the squad in the Green Room and there are a lot of insults. Link doesn’t even care. 

Komui is the presentator and Reever accompagnies him to try to moderate the evening. things don’t specifically go as planned because Komui decided to make an intermitance with a robot. Didn’t end well.

Lveille is part of the Jury because fuck him. He’s purposingly voting against our heroes to spite them.Euro-volution.

Also the Noah definitly decided to crash the party. 

The Jasdebi comes with a hardmetal emo song in which they can show off all their boundages stuff. Everyone is embarassed except for the Earl who is cheering for them very loud.

Also I could see the Earl with a very pumpy song, all cheerful and all, but when you listen the musics the lyrics are actually quite horrifying.

Road forced Tyki to wear the sexiest clothes she could put her hands on, while she was with the most frizzly lolita dress, and forced him on a duet with her because she decided the aesthetic would work better. Sheryl is torn between being happy for his good looking family and being upset she didn’t ask him for a part. 

Wisely ends up sneaking up with the presentators and start to interview the stars by specifically asking awkward question or expressing aloud their thoughts.

Lulu transformed into a cat and sneaked in the Green Room to avoid the embarassment.

Also Cross ends up crashing the party for the final act event, and arrives with a wonderful, pretty, expensive gown to the party. Allen starts to shiver when he realizes that Cross could only pay this dress with... a lot... of debts..... but Cross is determined to steal the show, bring out Maria as back up choir, and he puts everything on fire. except he planned it. And he set the dress on fire so we can’t bring it back to the store. Allen slowly died in the Green Room calculating how expensive Cross’s act was and how much he will have to pay, and Johnny had to try to bring him back to life. 

The ending gets ruined because Kanda ended up furious at Alma ending last that he cut down the cameras.

He's reserved, in complete denial for a long while after realizing his own feelings and if you dont confess first he wont EVER, he decided.

However much this man has a resolve of steel though, his thoughts about kissing you DO get out of hand for him. He makes the mistake of ranting to Lavi about it, who won't stop teasing him about it.

Lavi accidentally spills the beans to Allen who goes into complete and utter shock - which pisses Kanda off even more because really, does he honestly seem like the type to be SO incapable of a healthy loving relationship at first glance?! (don't answer that!)

So he practices. A Sunday morning he's standing in the bathroom, looking himself in the mirror and trying to confess. He doesn't even get through one sentence though because talking to himself is absolutely ridiculous. 0/10 won't ever happen again!

Surprise! It does happen again, and again and again.... Almost every day at this point, after brushing his teeth.. He practices how to confess to you!

After he's deemed himself prepared he asks to hang out with you - which isn't an unusual occurence, you've been meditating with him for months now after you showed interest in wanting to learn and started hanging out just the two of you afterwards (you just wanted an excuse to be with him, mostly)

Also he is not even the slightest bit insecure on whether or not you'll reject him. Not because he's that confident but honestly? You’re close with him and he feels like he can read you like an open book. He’s not blind to the way your eyes linger on his lips (at least not blind anymore....)

 "Are you having a stroke?" Alma asked when he walked past Kanda on the couch one day as he was holding back a blush and a smile from reading one of your stupid texts again, "shut up, Alma".

So when the day comes he’s taking you to the meditation room, setting up with you and sitting down next to you. He keeps stealing glances and holding back a smile, knowing what’s about to happen (he gets to try and finally kiss your lips)

He honestly thought of something bigger but he wanted it to be about the two of you. So when you’re both seated and positioned correctly he breathes out an “I’m in love with you, you know.”

He keeps his eyes closed but he hears the way your breath hitches, hears the way you move around your mat and nears him and he’s actively fighting back a blush when he can almost feel your breath on his cheek. He opens his eyes to see you staring right into his, “what the fuck kind of confession is that!?” you ask, almost enraged by the casualty of it - if his words hadn’t been so... heavy, you would’ve thought he was joking. You still fear he is, “don’t mess with me!”

His face scrunches up at your reaction and he’s confused for a solid moment, unsure why you’re mad at him. “You don’t like me back?” he asks, almost confused and brows furrowed. You flop back on the mat with a sigh and even wider eyes, “you’re serious?” you ask again and he leans closer to you, his heartbeat quickening. He lets the blush he was fighting to hold back earlier loose as he gets on his knees to crawl to you, “I’ve never been more serious in my life.”

His hand travels to your cheek and he gently touches it with his thumb, “can I kiss you?”

You stare at him, dumbfounded and gather your strength to nod and lean toward him.

He’s a very gentle kisser! He’s aware of how rough he can be around the edges and wants to be the opposite with you

He doesn’t act like you’re made of glass, though! He will still kick your ass if you train with him! He sees you as a perfect equal and while he won’t admit to it, he likes seeing you riled up - especially if it’s because of him and silly things. If you’re ever sad or frustrated he will support you, though!

His toxic trait is jealousy... I’m sorry but this man is JEALOUS. He’s not possessive per say, but he will glare daggers at the person behind the counter at the supermarket who even remotely sounds like they’re flirting with you. His glare is scary for others to experience. You always smile apologetically to the poor cashier before you leave.

Kanda CARES so much about anniversaries! They’re very important to him - he remembers the days for your first kiss, your first (real) date, first time he slept over as your boyfriend and the day you moved in together. He even wants to celebrate the day he realized he was in love with you!! He’s so precious, he writes them down in both his own calender, yours and the joint one in the kitchen.

Kanda’s love language number 1 is physical touch. His favorite dates are when you’re sprawled out on the couch or the bed, completely entangled in each other, he’s like a cat. It took him a while to admit and even longer to start asking for it but he absolutely adores when you’re fingers rests on his hip, moving in mindless circles as you’re watching yet another film he hates

(”we can turn it off if you hate it so much,” you mutter after the second negative comment about the composition and camera positions (when did he become an expert in move making?) You feel his grip tighten on you, “never.” he mutters as he kisses the top of your head) You guess you’ll never figure out why he enjoys “torturing his eyes with such imagery” every weekend but you don’t complain. His gruff voice close to your ear and the expert cuddles makes up for it.

Kanda also has a soft spot for matching couple outfits.... Nothing wild, just matching sweaters or color coordination! He’s super embarassed about it at first though, grumbles through the entire Christmas dinner where you’re matching but can’t hold back the need to match again at New Year’s! It starts a whole thing for him.

Kanda snores. Loudly. I’m sorry but you can’t convince me otherwise. In the beginning it’s a whole “deal with it!” kind of situation but behind the scenes he’s researching how to help it - he buys one of those nose clips and even tries the anti-snoring nose sprays!

His first priority will forever always be your safety and happiness. So whenever you have arguments that take a stronger turn than friendly bickering, he sits you both down to talk it out and figure out what to do with any problems you might encounter! He doesn’t sacrifice his own principles for you and he expects you to hold to your own as well! That will cause clashes and fights once in a while, but he’ll always be there to hold you when it’s all said and done.

After all, there’s nothing he enjoys more than waking up for his morning workout 15-20 minutes before he has to only to look at you, peacefully asleep next to him, grumbling about the morning sun as you try to crawl into his skin to be closer. It’s home, it’s the love he lives for and there’s nothing better after any rough day than coming back and going to bed with you so he can experience these magical minutes the next morning, right?

I RLY HOPE I DID HIM JUSTICE...
