Aside from people from Surda and Hadarac, most people of Alagaësia are basically Knockoff Europeans and many are described as pale-skinned. And as we know, pale skin is something that evolved under pressure of cold European climate. And Alagaësia very much does have that cold, sort of European climate around the Palancar Valley and along The Spine.

But the problem is that humans aren't native to Alagaësia! So where do they come from!

Chapter 9

Emma watched as Regina sat down for the hundredth time. Groaning, this journey was going to take forever. Emma placed her hands on her hips and let out a sigh. Her eyes looked out through the forest, hopeful that they were going the right way with Regina leading the way. However she wasn’t finding any of her snapped branches, which she could have swore were right around this area. And if she remembered correctly, there were quite a few cliffs she had almost stumbled off of that she wanted to avoid this time around. She moved to open her bottle of water and she heard the brunette snort. She whipped around angrily, as she very much needed a nap after last night and her patience was thin. “What the fuck is up with you?”

Regina smiled sarcastically. “Me?” She pointed at her chest daintily.

Emma bared her teeth and stomped over to the brunette, the woman standing and meeting her head on. “Yes, you. Do you have to make a comment or sigh whenever I do anything ?” She looked her up and down with distaste. “It’s getting old, Regina.”

The brunette grabbed her shoulder as the blond tried to turn away. “Oh? I’m sorry. I’m just stuck with the most insufferable brat for all eternity. Tell me, dear , has it been difficult to survive when you can’t even walk on your own two feet?” She smirked and the blond screeched.

“Those vines weren’t there when we entered that clearing! I’ve been watching where I’m walking, they just keep appearing!” She wasn’t an idiot, but she did wonder if her coordination was lacking due to the lack of sleep she had sustained.
