Dear Gus & Magnus,

Today was a long day. I went to Orange Theory this morning, then we made a video about a party we're throwing for freshmen engineering students at the University of Arkansas who recently made the decision to major in civil engineering. Then we made a video to help recruit a transportation leader in Missouri. Then I interviewed the leader of our Arkansas Water Design Center for the podcast. Then we packed up and went to the freshman engineering party. Then, when I got back to the hotel at 7.30, I walked up and down a trail for 45 minutes to get to my 18,000-step goal.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Mom's cough has continued to get worse, so she went to the doctor. Turns out now she has bronchitis. She got some medicine to suppress the cough so that she can hopefully get some rest. That feels like the most important thing -- she needs sleep. (Your dad thinks plenty of sleep and lots of water will cure anything and everything, for the record.) Nene came down to help out with you two. She spent the night so she could also help in the morning.

I love talking to rabbis as a recent conversion student because the interaction goes something like, "you're converting? Now?! At this time, at this moment in history?!". And they always talk about this influx of jewish convert students they've seen recently, and it's like...

There's this level of respect I get from rabbis for converting at this point in time, but... Has there ever been a good time to be a jew in the last thousand years or so plus? I'm imagining that rabbis and jews in general back in 1492, back in 1290, back in 1349 would have said the exact same thing. So, really, there is only a time to be a jew. Maybe it's not a "good" time, yes, but it is a time. And to me, that's good enough
