Realized it was Wednesday, and I've been seeing people post stuff for

WIP Wednesday

And I've been really sick so let me show you what I've been doing while stuck on my couch with my iPad:

Got some EmmRook baby fluff I started and may or may not actually finish, depends on how depressed I am after my upcoming advisor meeting.

BTW, I am not seeing NEARLY enough Manfred in EmmRook fanart and I'm very ashamed of all of you. This includes myself. I am most ashamed of me. I need to see Manfred holding his baby sibling so I'm gonna do that MYSELF.

Anyway, continuing on, here's the WIP report on the next installment of my Veilguard fan comic No Time To Apologize:

I hate myself for the angles I choose sometimes. I NEED this drama, but Solas refuses to comply. So he gets the doof face timeout while I try to find better reference.

I wanna talk about datv ending and its hidden beauty.

Just 3 tiny thoughts.

It's the end. No second chances, no loopholes. Solas stands there, ready to go, right before the Veil rift. It certainly is a last step before the abyss.

And a perfect moment to remember one advice:

"We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment... and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."

So, he stands there and "his back turned". But this time it isn't "story unfinished".

Dreadwolf' story is a circle. He turned his back away from the Fade to follow Mythal - he turned his back away from evanuris to start a rebellion - he turned his back away from Felassan - he turned his back away from the Inquisition.

Finally, in the end he turned his back again. But this time it's not because he had no strength to face guilt and regrets - this time he's ready to move forward freely. Circle is finally closed.

The look

Solas is ready to leave this world and Inquisitor said she wants to go with him. He doesn't ask, he doesn't make promises of a better life but he clearly wants she by his side. (Of course, he is. Nobody is eager to spend an eternity alone).

He did stop to wait for her, but didn't turn around. And it isn't about the need to show himself as confident or stoic, it isn't about pride either. It is a last chance for her to change mind, to stay in this world, to start a new life, a real life. Solas knows it would be difficult for her to see his face and look in the eyes and say she doesn't want to leave the real world. He doesn't want she feel obliged to go because he stands here tired, sad and injured and looks at her with wet puppy wolf eyes in expectation. It wouldn't be fair. So he stands before the rift, waiting in silence, not moving at all, giving her a chance to stand back. If she wouldn't come closer, he would go alone with no questions.

But she chose him, it changed everything, and Solavellan hell turned into Solavellan heaven, yay.

You can love a character and still admit when they’re wrong. I love Solas but can acknowledge his flaws (he has none) and can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he’s never done anything wrong in his life) and call him out for his actions (which are always correct).
