Dark Fandom: Frameups and Fakers

Okay - here we go.

Frameups and Fakers

Peering over the rim of my coffee cup, I looked at these posts from last night and decided that it's time to add to the reading shelf. 

Here's what happened, for the link-averse. False blogs were set up apparently to mimic BeeBee76, JadeSabre85, and Draculard (no blog to compare), then the actual parties were blocked by the fake blogs, preventing the real Jade, BeeBee, and Draculard from finding them. It is possible that these blogs are or could be used to send messages where anons are disallowed, divert traffic from the parties' actual blogs, or post content that is against community guidelines in order to get the parties deactivated by Tumblr.

Below are Real Beebee vs Fake Beebee and Real Jadesabre versus Fake JadeSabre. Drac does not have a Draculard blog on Tumblr, but is well known enough in the Thrawn, ST:TNG, and other fandoms with that name. In both cases, the elimination of a dash, or the last two digits of Jade's name leads to an empty blog where you would expect content. I use the search bar to go to someone's blog directly - I do miss my LJ feature where I could just click a name in the sidebar and boom!

Frameup 101

A frameup or setup is a maneuver designed to make someone appear responsible or divert blame for a given situation (such as a crime) using fabricated evidence and/or testimony.

I've also heard a frameup called a stitchup, though I'm not sure if that's a TikTok term or not. Generally, the person seeking to divert attention and frame another party is the perpetrator, though a third party may be acting to 'protect' the actual instigator and finds the framed party a convenient target. 

Some of the techniques used in frameups include: 

False flag - actions undertaken with a false identity, the intention being to blame the target person or group.

Joe job - old Usenet term for a spamming campaign using a spoofed email address.

Scapegoating - placing blame for one's bad actions on another party as the cause of said actions. 

'Just asking questions' - questions designed to sow doubt or create chasms in a group of people. For instance, "But how do we know that there's not a nanochip in the COVID vaccine? There could be, and it could be used to see who is complying with the New Order.  I'm just asking questions." 

Casus belli - 'cause for war' actions or causes used to justify hostilities. 

Gaslighting - manipulative behavior that over a period of time causes the victim to doubt their own powers of reasoning, validity of their thoughts, and even perception of reality. This leads to loss of self-esteem, stability, and self-confidence, leading to confusion and dependency on the gaslighter who is using the victim for their own advantage.

Red herring - information set up to be distracting and a distraction from the situation at hand.

Straw man - an argument or proposition intentionally misrepresented because it is easier to defeat than the actual argument.

In other words - know your bullshit because stalkers and trolls will use your credulousness to their advantage.

DCxDP Prompt 17 :

Danny was very displeased, displeased at the fact that he had to be a quarter vampire.

Let him explain, Danny had been visiting Vlad for his annual Therapy session, Dan had told the boy that Vlad has been acting strange and isolating himself in his bedroom.

Danny speculated that maybe the man is... Doing evil things again to mess with Danny and so just as any other sane person would, He visited the man. He stepped into a dark and cold room, "Frootloop...?", he called out as he kept the door open Infront of him.

Without even giving the boy a second to process the darkness, Plasmius pounced on him and had dug his sharp teeth and fangs on his arm, Danny took only a few moments and threw Plasmius to the side, his eyes were glowing red.

Danny was cursing as Plasmius's Hair 'Horns' were actual horns now and he looked... Hungry.

Danny would not like to delve more into those new trauma memories but short to say but Plasmius had a more animalistic side to him due to his vampire shtick and it turns out he knows when it happens but simply forgot to tell Danny or Anyone about this situation.

Danny went home after having been bandaged by Dani, He felt weird ever since that day and for the past few days the sun had felt more hotter for him that he ended up using sunscreen often, he found Ectoplasm more... Delicious as well and when he happened to get injured and licked the blood off his arm due to something urging him, he slowly pieced everything together.

Danny started showcasing more vampiric features, his eyes had a red tint, his ears were pointier and his fangs sharper, slowly he's had more of an attraction to blood and Ectoplasm, being able to find or smell blood from afar.

Danny at some point tells jazz and she ofcourse accepts him wholeheartedly and protects him as much as she could, even going as far as intimidating the A-Listers enough that they'd leave Danny alone.

It... It didn't prove good for him though, The Sensors clocked him more as a ghost. It made Maddie and Jack extremely suspicious.

One morning Tucker and Sam had called him something about Maddie and Jack finding out, Danny was then caught especially at a time where Jazz was out of town.

We all know what happens in Bad Parents Maddie and Jack, They have him strapped to a table.

Jazz went home 3 days later and after finding out about what happened to Danny, she ran to the closest person she could get help from. Vlad.

The DC part ;

Danny had ran away with Jazz, Dan and Dani to Gotham, Apparently Vlad had bought them a Manor and Since Dan was the oldest he was the one who managed all the money and he was good at it.

Danny still had difficulty controlling the hunger, the Half Ghost Thing now along with having vampire stuff on him and still somehow being half human was the only thing keeping him sane and feel like he's in control of his body.

These instincts from 3 different species in one body fused to one causing him to get more confused and erratic with his behaviors, Dan resorts to taking Danny out at night and letting him ravage and feed on Criminals which Dan had specifically picked.

Meanwhilst the bats have been notified of Child and Human traffickers or anything of the same level crime that they don't feel bad about have been found dead with bite marks on their necks and their bodies drained of blood, It confused them ofcourse but no innocent bystanders or civilians was ever turned into a victim of this unknown assailant.

The public had nicknamed the supposed "Vampire Meta" As Apparition (Because Dracula was too cliché), One faithful night, a witness happens to see this strange person feed on a criminal.

A black haired teenage boy had their teeth sunken in the big man's neck, their eyes a red tint but it's obvious they were blue, said civilian immediately told the police which gave the bats a lead.

Witnesses starts to see more of him, Red Robin happens to encounter the younger boy on coincidence, his clothes were bloodied but he stared at the horizon of the city. The boy looked out of thought, his eyes hazed as Red Robin approached him, Danny turned his head at Red Robin almost immediately upon hearing his footsteps.

"Hello." He greets with a fanged but soft and innocent smile that made Red Robin's heart skip a beat. Just who is this boy? And why is Tim starting to have a crush for him.

You guys can take it from here, all my thoughts were, Halfa!Vamp!Danny and Dead Tired.

It boggles my mind how people would go to such lengths to demonize Rook to defend Solas. Like yes Rook should have stood there and waited for Solas at the ritual site like a good boy and let him release demons into Thedas. It wasn’t like Solas messed up his own ritual because he stabbed Varric. No, it must be Rook’s fault. Like you have to always blame someone else other than Solas. It’s Rooks fault, it’s Mythal’s, its Varric’s, etc. let him get some accountability like damn. You guys treat solas like he’s not a grey character and coddle him like a baby.

we really don't talk enough about how cesare (who proclaims himself to be honorable) actually has an extreme level of self-absorption and narcissism. they jump out on different situations especially in his vindictive sexual harassment of the women he slept with for wounding his ego. like his abuse of ursula (who was deceived by his chivalrous façade) for leaving him and taking a will of her own vs. his aggressive grabbing of caterina's breast when she taunted him at his sister's wedding (shows that he's still bitter over her rejecting him at forli).

Video Playlist: Wank in the Fandom, Chapter 6. Narc 101: Fandom Family and When It's a Bad Thing

A lot of people say fandom is like a family. When the family relationship is loving, caring, and supportive, it can be great. When it's not, holy shit it's really not. If you think that middle school sucked, and nobody can outdo the Mean Girls from that time, imagine them middle-aged and having refined their technique. Where do you think all those Karens came from?

Narcs are all about patterns, and they repeat them endlessly. Families are a pattern, and I know from dealing with my narcissistic mother, they can't do anything but repeat with minor variations. After all, they are right and everyone else is wrong, they're the victim, and they will vengefully show everyone who's boss around here. Retaliation or sticking up for oneself or someone else is to unleash hell. It doesn't matter if it's only the internet, narcs can harm. The narc refuses to acknowledge past behaviors and deeds, even when the evidence is clear and the weapons of the narc are many and varied.

So let's go over the roles inside the narc-centered family, because they are much the same in a blood family or a fandom family. People who grew up in disordered families can gravitate to abusive relationships because they feel like home. The core of the narc-centered family can be a parent or a Big Name Fan. The BNF often acts in a parental role, having an 'Inner Circle' of fandom friends that fulfill the narc familial roles of Golden Child, Hero Child, Mascot Child, Invisible Child, and Scapegoat.

First, understand how the 'family'operates.

You also need to understand what drives the adult narcissist, and what happens as a narc grows older. This s a spot-on snapshot of my lte mother.

And onto the 'children' in the fandom family.

The Chosen One/Golden Child

The Hero/Mascot/Caretaker.

The Lost/Invisible/Forgotten One - child and adult

The Scapegoat.

And finally, the narc's enabler.

I wasn't gonna do this but default remaster Lara boggles the mind. 1st pic is default remaster, 2nd pic is my reshape, 3rd pic is both. Kurtis is here because he was the reference for proportion - I literally used the size of his eyeballs to scale everything (Lara's default eyeballs are like triple the size of his).

They definitely went for higher realism with Kurtis and loyalty to the style with Lara, but what's important to note is that she was always more cartoony than him, even in the original. I had to scale her head down with the original models too; this isn't an issue that began with remaster. She's always had more exaggerated proportions. It's just more noticeable now that Kurtis has higher fidelity. I don't blame the remaster team for not changing that when it's been established that way for 20 years - it would've likely bothered some fans to have seen them try to redesign her even minutely like this.

However, for my own personal use, I wouldn't have been happy sticking with just default remaster Lara, hence the reshaping and edits to her proportions. She and Kurtis match much better now, and tbh, I'm glad the remaster team didn't commit to making them both one way or another, even if it did lead to some oddity with the proportions in game. It's more loyal to the original that way.

we know that she tends to run away from her problems and grief and stress through partying and drowning her sorrows out in drugs, but after she rescues mizi we don't see her doing that other than drinking some alcohol at a party.

something something her showing mizi freedom is a form of closure for her since she saw her past self in mizi, and in All-In she makes the decision to stop running away from her past, while mizi makes the same decision to stop ignoring the oppressive society she'd been living in all her life.

they're both taking the next step to letting go of their denial and cowardice, and to hyuna that means cutting low on the drugs she used to rely on, and GHHH ALL-IN WAS A MASTERPIECE THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT

one interesting thing i've noticed is that JKR's terminology changes a LOT over the course of the series as she does worldbuilding between the books. rn i'm thinking of the phrase 'Dark Side' which is in common parlance for the first four books to describe Voldemort's followers, from characters as diverse as Ron and Hagrid. It's also a phrase that launched a thousand 'Dark/Light magic is a real thing and Dark Magic is oppressed' fics despite being pretty clearly jettisoned after book 4. And why is it jettisoned? Well, the term 'Death Eaters' is introduced in book 4, as is the Dark Mark. There's even a helpful conversation where Harry gets the term Death Eater explained to him by Bill Weasley. So it seems like when JKR needed to develop Voldemort's followers more after having left them as vague background except for when plot-relevant for the first few books due to Voldemort's return, she also introduced a new term for them. Death Eaters takes over from Dark Side--it's also a much more specific term that refers to people who have the Dark Mark as opposed to just 'followers and sympathizers of Voldemort'. But it means that stuff like Ron talking about Lucius Malfoy having been on the Dark Side rather than being a Death Eater sounds strange on reread.
