Between Dazai calling Oda a "balm for the soul" to Mori and him giving Akutawaga a whole lecture about how he couldn't beat Oda in 100 years.

I love the mental image of Dazai just going into tangents about how great Oda is around other mafia members and them being completely baffled when they meet him, and he's like the most underwhelming person ever.

Mafioso: "Why does one of the top five executives never shut up about you?"

Oda: "I really don't know. He's been like that since I tied him to a bed and force-fed him porridge"

metamorphosis book cover ! complete with a removable gregor !

#speaking of metamorphosis #this was a project i had last year :33 #i used plastic + wax + acrylic paint + random bullshit to make this #i really wanted to emphasize the grotesque living situation gregor was in by the later end of the book #so a lot of textures and a lot of super dark muddy colors #weirdly enough it actually smells really good bc i used scented candles for the wax #the red plastic are the apples being fed to him iirc ?#i was inspired by the royal opera house ballet of the same name :3 plus alberto burri and kim jakobson for the use of textures #still one of my favorite projects to this day !! i inhaled so much spray glue and burnt plastic for this #my art #?

There's something about reading really great writing that's so relaxing. You can just sit back and let the words wash over you, knowing that you can trust the writer.

#random thought of the day #books #part of the reason i'm not getting writing done today was because i spent most of my free time reading from books i've let sit for too long #i haven't been able to sink into good fiction for a while #so elizabeth goudge felt like a spiritual experience #cleansing and uplifting #it always takes me a while to get into her books #there's a learning curve of a couple of chapters to adjust to the style #but once i break through it's bliss #it becomes easy as breathing #there's nothing quite like what she does #i love books that understand that goodness isn't boring or trite #you don't need to have 'darkness' and 'grit' to be complex #like one bit that took my breath away was the talk about sallie and david's marriage struggles #they're both good people who love each other #but they also have their differences because they're human and that causes struggles #not marriage-breaking struggles just nuanced life struggles #and i'm not sure i've seen something like that in a book before #it's a good marriage they married the right people but that doesn't mean life is perfect #goudge uderstands that marriage isn't happily ever after--heaven is #and a good marriage is two people partnering up to help each other reach that goal #it's so much more adult than any 'complex adult' work i've seen

PETER MAXIMOFF APPRECIATION POST AND A RANDOM FACT ABT ME THAT I'M GONNA YAP ABOUT!

i've just unlocked a new comfort character and it's the literal sweetheart, peter maximoff! I've just been seeing posts abt him and watching some clips of him. Honestly, I'm already considering him as the best comfort character that I have. I have diagnosed adhd and the adhd side of me feels drawn to him in a feeling that I can't explain. The feeling is just too strong that I couldn't explain but it's not strong in an unhealthy way. In fact, the feeling makes me feel contented everytime I read stuffs about him. Well there's some post i've seen that peter gives some kind of vibes of an 'undiagnosed adhd guy' and it kinds of makes sense to me since i find him relatable in a lot of angles and is comforting. But, he's just really such a fun sweetheart. I love him for that! Now I want to learn his whole lore, peter is so fun to be a comfort character! 😭🤍
