Danganronpa: Another Iteration (or a talent-shift AU for DRA)
Haruhiko Kobashikawa, Ultimate Surgeon
The protagonist, and 1/3 of the three "brain cells".
Comes from a family of field medics.
Ending up garnering lots of attention from the media for performing flawless surgeries at the age of five.
Would much draw attention away from the whole "medical prodigy" thing, but would lay down his life to save people (savior complex protag, my beloved).
Is a bit too into the anatomy parts of medical textbooks.
Mikako Kurokawa, Ultimate Pilot
Was groomed from a young age to be an unstoppable war machine.
Was told from a young age that "actions speak louder than words", resulting in her not talking much.
Doesn't really open up to anybody, not even her servant/adoptive brother.
People are often unnerved by the pale six-foot-one girl with noticeable muscles underneath her uniform, and rightfully so.
Yuki Maeda, Ultimate Exorcist
Has powers straight out of an isekai/shounen manga, and the underdog protagonist energy to match.
In spite of his title, Yuki actually specializes more in being a spiritual medium and summoning/communicating with the spirits themselves.
Is headmates with Utsuro, a far colder spirit in charge of the actual exorcisms, who finds just about any other activity "boring".
Has an awful and traumatic past that lead to both his attachment towards the dead and his alter.
Rei Mekaru, Ultimate Lucky Student
Primary trial saboteur.
Okay, I have two different prompts for a Lucky Student Rei.
First prompt, essentially Teruko Tawaki (right down to the backstory), but she doesn't need to get backstabbed for her to turn her back on others.
Second prompt: the Nagito-esque Rei I outlined here.
Either way, a total menace.
Teruya Otori, Ultimate Professor
One of Haruhiko's supports and 1/3 of the "brain cells".
Highly-intelligent and would drop tons of obscure trivia in a conversation, to the point that you would leave knowing a whole lot of stuff.
Father was the principal/dean of a K-12 school, and decided to hire his genius son to teach people.
He especially loves teaching grade-schoolers, but that kind of leaks into his interactions with his classmates (they all have at least one gold star/lollipop).
Akane Taira, Ultimate Merchant
Classic rags-to-riches backstory, with her going from a door-to-door saleswoman to a street vendor to the founder of a popular market chain.
Perfect customer service voice that she only ever lets go of when angry.
Seems docile and polite, but would punch a Karen.
Basically Akane, but even more girlboss.
Yamato Kisaragi, Ultimate Butler
Has a FuyuPeko-esque relationship with Mikako (minus the romance).
The Kisaragis have been working under the Kurokawas for generations to come.
Instead of Love Live! references, he makes Black Butler and Hayate the Combat Butler references in his dialogue.
Always seems to appear out of nowhere and know exactly what you want/need. Even Mikako is unnerved by this.
Kiyoka Maki, Ultimate Inventor
Specializes in creating weapons (primarily artillery).
Has the potential to make a nuclear bomb, but would rather spend all day doing typical teen girl stuff.
Greatly prefers fixing up old technology, rather than inventing new products.
Gets really dirty by the end of inventing stuff (blame her hyper-focus), and hates it.
Kinji Uehara, Ultimate Sniper
Was adopted by an Italian mercenary group, resulting in him becoming an assassin from a young age.
Is still highly-religious, believing that the lifestyle he has lived has condemned him to a life in hell.
Has a protective attitude towards children, has struck up a friendship with Teruya because of it.
Keeps a distance from the rest of his classmates, not wanting anyone to know the truth behind what he does.
Ayame Hatano, Ultimate Priestess
Can confidently lead sermons, but can barely handle herself in normal conversations.
Regularly goes on tangents regarding her religion, which can veer into some unnerving territory.
Is commonly seen as an upright maternal figure, which always throws people for a loop when they see how she really is.
Due to her talent, she is nowhere near the workaholic she is in canon, and she often encourages her classmates to take little breaks.
Tsurugi Kinjo, Ultimate Sprinter
Still has his strong sense of justice, but it isn't filtered through the black-and-white insanity of the police force. More like a shonen protagonist.
Would gladly sacrifice his life, if it means his peers would survive and/or be avenged. Who knows where that mentality would lead, when in a killing game?
Juu was a former Olympian, who Tsurugi looks up to and seeks to surpass.
Carries the burden of a promise made between him and his posthumous best friend.
Satsuki Iranami, Ultimate Police Officer
Haruhiko's other support, and 1/3 of the "brain cells".
Was born to a prestigious legal family, but was unable to live up to their standards, with Keisuke being the only one willing to give her a chance.
Is more of a Peralta-type cop, rather than a Santiago-type.
Probably owns a prop flag gun that says "GOTCHA!" or "BANG!".
Mitsuhiro "Mitchie" Higa, Ultimate Clown
Fandom's treatment of Mitch be like. /hj
Would have a more sanitized personality, for the sake of the kids.
Imagine Mitchie taking clowning as serious as canon!Mitch takes soccer.
Hates mimes and any other circus performances with a burning passion. Would start the clown uprising.
Kizuna Tomori, Ultimate Soccer Player
Would have a lot of issues with having a "gross" or "boyish" talent, thanks to Minako.
Would compensate for this with her hyper-girly personality.
Is highly competitive, and would do whatever it takes to win and get ahead in life.
Very Arei Nageishi-core.
Kakeru Yamaguchi, Ultimate Cheerleader
In contrast to the American-style cheerleader Kizuna is, Kakeru would be an oendan-leader.
Midori would be more athletic in this universe (although she still has her illness), and Kakeru cheers her at every event, like the good big brother that he is.
Big body = big lungs = loud shouts. Has a very hoarse and raspy voice outside of sporting events, because of it.
Is quiet to save up his voice for his cheers, and loves tea and cough drops.
Kanata Inori, Ultimate Lawyer
Her parents were murdered, when she was a baby, and she was taken in by the lawyer that prosecuted against and exposed the true murderer.
Her naturally polite and optimistic personality has made her the mascot of sorts for the Ando law firm.
Prime example of "A lawyer doesn't cry, until it's all over".
Could be considered an honorary member of the "brain cells", but she isn't a part of the polycule.

Can i ask for koiki/pg kokichi yan headcannons?
Ah my boy Koiki, who's original iteration became so specific that he split off into an oc and pregame got given the much less cool name of Koiki.
Yandere PG Kokichi/Koiki Headcanons
Pregame Kokichi will be referred to as Koiki
Koiki's not an easy person to catch the eye of, incredibly particular and somewhat secretly misanthrope, Koiki views everyone as just pawns and other game pieces for his quest to world domination. He's taken a lot of influence from the best character in Danganronpa, which he will fight about, Monaca Towa. Truly, she's everything he wants to be.
So he makes himself seem pleasant, sweet, naive even, as he peers up to you in those big round glasses in that soft woolen sweater. One would not be amiss to mistake him for a sheep, but with tongue and eyes as sharp as claws, beware the wolf in the sheep. He'll lie, cheat, steal, push down the stairs, and then blame you for all of it, because poor little bullied Class Rep Koiki could NEVER.
Though while everyone thinks they're friends with Koiki, Koiki feels nothing for them. No empathy, or pity, or sympathy, simply dominoes to line up. However, don't mistake this for a total detachment. He has his more early interests, like sweets, and especially animals. Koiki adores animals, seeing them as much more honest and understandable then people. People have all this pomp and charade and knives in backs, a dog is just a dog. Simply, effective, understandable. Truly what could a person give him that a cat or dog or bird couldn't?
With quite an ego and viewing himself as just inherently better then humanity, it's very very hard to make true attachments. Which does leave him a bit lonelier then he likes to admit. So this won't be a standard meet cute, no, this will be calculated. He'll see you around, just another pawn in his game, as he learns all your secrets. Then you break the scripts he had thought with you. You take him off guard, you call him out for a moment, or you rescue a dog from traffic, or you reveal that you were smarter then you appeared. Either way, you proved his calculations wrong.
And if there's something Koiki can't stand, it's being wrong because if he's wrong that means he's not perfect which means he's slacking, and he CANNOT have that.
So he focuses in on you, spends more time with you, trying to figure out where his calculations, his precious gears and pawns and plans, failed him.
He just can't seem to get it right though, maybe you don't want to be around him despite his charms, maybe you keep changing the rules he thinks he understands, for whatever reason he keeps failing.
Suddenly this isn't a pawn, or an actor, or just another shadow on the wall, but a person, like him, complex, complicated, alive.
He's never met another person before, just shadows and facades of what it means to be a person.
Such a rare occurance, such a thing he didn't think was possible
well....
it's certainly not boring, and he certainly isn't going to let something like that slip through his fingers. Oh no, you won't escape your new best friend so easily, and if you try, he'll make everyone hate you as the cruel cold person who spurred the sweetest kindest person in school...do you think your reputation could take that? your future? no? good, so put your hand in his, and dance this dangerous dance of dominance and conflict with him, and he won't blame you for a black eye.

Dangancember 2024 - Danganronpa Top 24 Class Trials - Number 10: Danganronpa 2 Case 1
//It was very very difficult to decide what between this case and the first case of Another 2 would be the one to manage to breach the Top 10, but ultimately, I had to give it to the OG series because of how significant an impact this case had, and how it set itself apart from the opening case of the first game.
//And it largely has to do with how much better than SDRA2 it does at setting up what a sequal can offer, even if its not by an awful lot.
//Personally speaking, I think if you take a step back and look at all the opening cases of this main series and the Another games, this is definitely the most engaging mystery and narrative of all the opening trials.
//And I know what people are going to say in response to that. And yes, we do still have one more opening trial to cover. And LORD KNOWS what that could be (he said sarcastically.)
//But I feel the need to remind people what this list is about. I am not ranking these trials based on how good I think the mystery is alone. I'm ranking them based on how much I, personally, feel they resonated with me. How much I cared about them.
//I can reflect upon myself and say that 2-1 is a better mystery than 1-1, V3-1, A-1, and A2-1, but that doesn't necessarily make if my favourite because maybe there are others that I felt were more impactful for me.
//But for what it's worth, 10th place and second favourite opening trial isn't bad.
//Right out of the gate, I think what makes this trial so much more impactful to me as an opening is the simple fact that, DRASTICALLY unlike Case 1 of DR1, it's a tutorial case, but it doesn't feel like one.
//Ergo, it doesn't give you a painfully simple mystery and/or hold your hand throughout the duration.
//It instead introduces both old and new gameplay mechanics organically, almost tricking you into learning while you’re too busy untangling the chaos of all the wacky shit that goes on here. Like being fed your vegetables but disguised as a pizza.
//The game sprinkles in trial mechanics and investigation tools gradually, so players grasp concepts without realizing they’re being taught. For example, the glowing paint on Nagito’s knife not only advances the plot but doubles as a clever way to demonstrate how evidence ties to crime scene analysis.
Plus, the setup; a pitch-black room full of panicking Ultimate students; makes the case feel dynamic and complex, while still being manageable for a first-timer. It's a much more complicated and thorough mystery thanks to the not-very bathroom-like liminal space that the first game had.
//By the time you’ve solved the mystery, you’re already an expert in piecing together alibis, reconstructing timelines, and using testimony against suspects, all without a giant neon sign saying, "Press this button now."
//In contrast, the first Danganronpa case felt more like a guided tour of Murder Mystery Land, complete with monotone Monokuma hints. Here, Danganronpa 2 tricks you into thinking you’re a genius detective right out of the gate, when really, it’s just doing a great job at teaching the ropes. It’s the difference between a boring school lecture and a fun, chaotic group project where someone (probably Nagito) brings a flamethrower. The result? A tutorial that feels like part of the narrative instead of a checklist.
//The large reason why I think DR2 leans way more into the chaos is that it assumes you've already played the first game, so you already know what's at stake here.
//In Danganronpa 1, the rules of how the Killing Game work are different than most other iterations, because you're walked through it one step at a time. Monokuma introduces the fact that you're stuck here, and murdering someone might be your only way out, but it isn't until AFTER Sayaka dies that the concept of the Class Trial even comes up.
//Monokuma introduces it immediately in Danganronpa 2, and explains it quite thoroughly, if a little suddenly.
//I genuinely believe the tension among the characters and their reactions to being thrust into a mutual killing game feel much heavier in Danganronpa 2 compared to other games. I even think the stakes are automatically higher than V3, despite how terrifying things seem right from the get go in that game.
//Right from the outset, there’s a palpable sense of unease, and the characters’ behaviors reflect that in spades. Take Kazuichi, for instance. We know this to be common with him now, but his paranoia is cranked up so high at the beginning that he flat-out refuses to attend the morning meetings. Something that everybody agreed to do in Danganronpa 1, and didn't get broken up until halfway into Chapter 2 earliest when Byakuya went off to do his own thing and Toko started following him.
//This isn’t your average "we’re all in this together" camaraderie; this is "I don’t trust any of you, so I’m staying put" energy. Moments like this amplify the weight of the situation and make the entire atmosphere more ominous and unsettling than its predecessor. Even though Jabberwock Island is way more out in the open than Hope's Peak was.
//The setup for the murder itself is also quite clever. Byakuya, a returning character from the first game, (or so we think at the time) decides to host a party to keep everyone in one place and prevent a murder.
//Because what could possibly go wrong with that plan?
//Well, everything, as it turns out.
//Fuyuhiko refuses to attend, probably because he’s too busy being the resident jerk, and in a twist dripping with irony, Byakuya’s noble attempt to maintain order directly leads to his demise. The dramatic irony here is so thick you could cut it with Nagito’s glowing, conveniently placed knife.
//Which we will get to.
//What really elevates this case is the setting and investigation. And as I already eluded to, the first case always takes place in a typically liminal setting, and that applies to the Another games too. Makoto's bathroom, the Old Building, the Library, the Girls' Bathroom, and the Belltower are all very simple areas, with the SDRA2 Belltower being the most vast.
//But in DR2, the quirks and layout of the Old Building are taken full advantage of, more than any of those other places where they contain at least one minor nitpick that insinuates there's more going on than there appears to be.
//Instead of snooping around in someone’s private bedroom, as we did in the first game, we’re exploring an old, creaky building full of mysteries and logistical challenges. From the blackout setup to the hidden compartments, every element feels like a classic whodunit sprinkled with that signature Danganronpa flair.
//Sure, there are death flags waving furiously, but the execution makes it all worthwhile. It’s a standout opening case that sets the bar high for tension, creativity, and character dynamics.
//But yeah, let's start talking about how this case pans out, starting with the first death itself.
//If you were to ask me who I think, of all of the first victims in the series, was the most shocking to me, I'd probably say Rantaro, but Byakuya in this game is definitely the close second.
//And Rantaro's death wasn't as emotionally captivating as it just was shocking, given how the game REALLY set him up to feel like he might be important, then went a different route than what they had already done with Kyoko and Hajime.
//Sayaka, Yuri, and even Kiyoka in contrast were raising so many death flags, and although it became obvious to me from the fact that Byakuya wasn't there by the time the lights came back on that he was dead...Good lord, it got me regardless.
//One of the best ways to kick off a killing game is by hitting players with a truly unexpected victim, and Danganronpa 2 nails this in its first case.
//And then Kodaka just went mad with this idea with V3 and Rain Code later.
//That aside, Byakuya was already so important from the get go because he's a (seemingly) returning character from the previous game, and even though he's gained a lot of weight since then for some reason, he's also gained a newfound dedication to leading everyone to safety.
//Upon reflection, he’s practically dripping with death flags, because he gets so much significant screentime in the same way Sayaka did in the first game. But even so, it's because he's been through this already that when he ends up as the first victim, it’s still a huge shock.
//Of course, the twist that he’s not actually Byakuya but an Impostor pretending to be him adds another layer to the surprise later on. Obviously, we as Survivor writers and readers know him as Ryuji Mitarai now, but I'm just gonna call him "Imposter" here so we don't get things twisted.
//Impostor is a surprisingly likable character in spite of his short screentime, especially when you consider he’s imitating someone who’s iconic for being, well, a complete jerk. Unlike the real Byakuya, Impostor exudes a level of care and selflessness that makes him stand out in the group.
//His decision to host a party in an effort to bring everyone together and keep them safe is a solid plan, at least on paper. As said already, the irony that his attempt to protect everyone results in his own death is just the kind of cruel twist that Danganronpa loves to serve up these days. However, because we don’t know at this point that he’s an Impostor, his actions reflect more on the character he’s pretending to be than on himself, leaving him feeling a bit thin as a character in this particular moment.
That said, Impostor shines in other parts of the franchise, particularly in the Danganronpa 3 anime. Now, we all know that DR3 kind of sucks, but Impostor’s moments are a rare highlight. His actions there show more of his true personality and make him one of the few redeeming elements of the show.
//So while he doesn’t get as much depth in this first case, his later appearances prove that he’s more than just a stand-in for Byakuya. In hindsight, his role in Case 1 is both ironic and tragic, but it sets up an intriguing foundation for his character.
//The investigation begins quickly after his body is discovered under a table, and it's already off to an amazing start.
//I found this investigation surprisingly enjoyable, and honestly, it felt oddly realistic to me. Maybe that’s a weird take, but hear me out.
//Whenever I go to indoor parties or events like that, I tend to get flushed and a little lightheaded, whether it’s from the heat, the crowd, or the questionable air circulation. Even though I wasn’t physically at the old building, the atmosphere was so immersive that I actually started feeling that same wooziness.
//The setting, with its dim lighting and creaky vibes, reminded me of places I’ve been to for dinner parties, which only added to the mystery’s engagement factor. It’s like my brain decided to simulate party-induced fogginess just to make the experience more authentic.
//Now, I’ll be the first to admit that this might be a "me" problem. I’m not claiming to be the sharpest tool in the shed, and maybe I’m just a bit of a dummy for letting myself feel this way over a game, but still, the sense of immersion here was real. While the investigation itself wasn’t anything groundbreaking, it had this subtle charm that kept me hooked.
//There’s something about piecing together clues in a claustrophobic, slightly disorienting environment that made me really feel like a detective, albeit one who probably needed to sit down and drink some water.
//Genuinely, this setting makes this case the most "clue-like" case in the series for me. Someone is murdered at the party, now you simply need to find out who did it, where, and what with.
//In the grand scheme of things, the mystery in this case isn’t exactly revolutionary, as solid as it is. But the combination of the setting, the clever use of the blackout, and my own personal haze made it a uniquely enjoyable experience.
//Either way, I had a great time racking my brain, even if half of that effort was spent fighting off imaginary dizziness.
//And as I kind of said already, both in this analysis and the previous one, the sequence of events here is just generally super cool and clever.
//The use of the blackout during the party as the centerpiece of the murder setup is a stroke of brilliance that emphasizes both creativity and logical deduction, despite being very simple on paper. In a scenario where vision is compromised, spatial awareness and timing become the key elements in unraveling the mystery.
//With that being said, one major reason it falls short is that the actual murder mystery itself can feel a bit contrived. While the blackout during the party is a clever setup, the sequence of events that leads to Teruteru’s accidental killing of the Impostor feels somewhat forced.
//Teruteru’s motivations, though sympathetic, still hinge on some rather convenient coincidences, like Nagito's manipulation and the unexpected turn of events during the blackout. It's a little too convenient for the sake of shocking twists.
//But even so, that's still a very minor problem, and not one I think about too regularly. Sometimes you need to take a few leaps in logic, and DR is famous for doing so. It's only with cases like 2-3 that do it a LOT that makes it kind of questionable.
//The trial builds on this foundation by introducing innovative mechanics that align perfectly with the unique circumstances of the case. For instance, the glowing paint on the knife becomes a pivotal clue, as well as a Chekovs (I've definitely spelt that wrong) Gun that at first seems like a red herring and not part of the case, only to be an integral part of the real scheme later.
//Similarly, the use of sound adds another layer of depth. Unlike 1-1 where you literally have to use your eyes and the culprit is just spelled out for you, here, they do basically the exact reverse.
//What makes this even more effective is how seamlessly these mechanics double as a tutorial, as I've kind of already gone over, but I want to elaborate on. The game gently introduces players to its more complex investigative tools without making the process feel like a chore.
//You’re not just learning how to use Truth Bullets or analyze contradictions, you’re actively piecing together a mystery that feels compelling and genuinely challenging. By tying these mechanics to a clever and memorable setup like the blackout, this case manages to be both instructive and immersive, making the trial a standout moment that’s as fun to play as it is to solve.
//And then there's how it all critically ends with "ON-THE-MEAT-BONE!" And speaking of which...
//One big issue that I see a lot of people take with this trial is who ends up being the killer, and...yeah, I understand why.
//But in case I haven't made it clear so far with this blog, I actually don't dislike Teruteru at all!
//Again, just as Imposter is my second favourite victim for an opening case, Teruteru is...well...he's technically my FAVOURITE first-case killer, but assuming we count the killer of Danganronpa V3's first case as Kaede, then he's my second favourite.
//Teruteru is, understandably, one of the more polarizing characters in Danganronpa as a whole. His behavior often crosses the line into outright predatory territory, making him difficult to defend.
//But, if we’re being honest, he’s also a more entertaining and complex character than certain other franchise favorites like Yasuhiro or Hifumi . While those two often devolve into comic relief without much depth, Teruteru has layers to his personality that make him more interesting to watch, his involvement in this case be damned.
///...Even if those layers come with a side of sleaze.
//I genuinely think that every killer in Danganronpa 2 has a certain degree of sympathy and likeability to them regardless of their motivations, and that includes both Mikan and Teruteru.
//What sets Teruteru apart is that, despite having traits like being short and uncomfortably perverted, he’s nothing like your stereotypical perverted, touchy anime character.
//My Hero Academia’s Minoru Mineta, for example. That character gets a lot of flak for being a one-note pervert (and, let’s face it, deservedly so), but Teruteru has an actual backstory, genuine character motivations, and even some moments of surprising emotional depth.
//His perversion, while still off-putting, isn’t his sole defining trait. Instead, his actions and decisions stem from a mix of personality quirks, life circumstances, and emotional vulnerability.
//When you dig deeper into his motive for murder, you find a blend of noble intentions and tragic desperation that make him far more nuanced than he initially appears.
//Teruteru’s reasons for killing are multifaceted. He learns that Nagito is plotting a murder of his own and, in an effort to protect the rest of the group, he tries to stop him, albeit in the most reckless way possible. The murder plan was supposed to ensnare Nagito, but things go horribly wrong when the Ultimate Impostor ends up as the unintended victim.
//Beyond that, Teruteru’s desire to escape the island and return home is driven by a surprisingly selfless motive: his sickly mother. After realizing his school memories were erased, Teruteru becomes desperate to leave, fearing for her well-being while she struggles to run their family diner alone.
//His guilt over accidentally killing the Impostor feels genuine. He doesn’t wish he could undo his actions entirely, as his intentions were arguably good, but he deeply regrets the unintended consequences.
//And it's even more gut-wrenching upon reflection when you realize that not only is Teruteru's mother most likely dead, but that as a Remnant of Despair, Teruteru likely killed and ate her himself.
//I would argue that Ayame did the half-heroic, half-realistic goals for murder thing better, but hey, I can't stay mad at Teruteru for this, despite himself. His motives were noble, regardless of whether they were selfish or selfless.
//It’s easy to argue that Nagito manipulated him into this situation, making Teruteru’s downfall all the more tragic. Beneath the inappropriate jokes and questionable behavior lies a character who’s more human than he initially lets on...and that complexity makes him a fascinating, if controversial, addition to the cast.
//But of course, let's not beat around the bush.
//The characters are what makes these cases as great as they are, but even so, it's not the involvements of the Ultimate Imposter, or Teruteru's motivations that make this narrative as engaging as it is. No...We all know who the REAL highlight of this goddamn trial is...
//Nagito...fucking...Komaeda...!
//Arguably the best antagonist in the entire series, and this case perfectly solidifies why right from the get-go.
//Nagito initially seems to fit neatly into the archetype established by characters like Sayaka in Game 1. He’s the friendly companion who walks the protagonist through introductions to the rest of the group, acting as kind of the first true friend you make on the island, and the one that you feel like you can rely on, and he treats you with the same respect.
//It's incredibly interesting to think about how vastly Nagito and Hajime's relationship changes throughout Danganronpa 2, when what starts out as mutual respect eventually turns into shared animosity. But that comes much later.
//As of this moment, much like Kyoko in Danganronpa 1, Nagito keeps his true nature hidden until the first trial, when the cracks in his façade begin to show.
//And wow, do they show.
//We all know this by now as DR fans, but instead of being the slightly awkward but otherwise kind-hearted nice guy he appears to be, it turns out Nagito is completely, utterly, spectacularly UN-FUCKING-HINGED!
//Once the trial begins, Nagito transforms into a ENGINE of pure CHAOS, derailing conversations left and right and dropping bombshells like he’s hosting a fireworks show.
//The kicker? He's not even the killer!
//Nagito actually manipulated Teruteru into committing the first murder by instilling a degree of fear in him about what would happen. He openly reveals his plan to Teruteru, chancing that Teruteru's pre-established paranoia will trigger his hidden desire to murder and escape.
//Which is effectively the same tactic that we're used to seeing JUNKO use to light the fuses.
//But it's still somehow not as simple as that. Because in his warped worldview, starting the killing game was a necessary step toward creating a brighter Hope.
//And in his twisted logic, sacrificing both Teruteru and the Ultimate Impostor was just a means to that end. On top of that, he confessed to the crime, fully admitting his role, even though he wasn’t technically the killer.
//Which means the literal FIRST HALF of this trial is chasing after Nagito's actions that gets you no closer to the actual killer, and it's only in the second half that Teruteru's involvement becomes much clearer.
//I will say that this is kind of one of the reasons why I don't like this case as much as others, though it's an incredibly minor complaint for what it is.
//While Nagito’s chaotic presence adds an interesting layer to the trial, it does sometimes overshadow the actual clues. Rather than focusing on the specifics of the crime, the trial often feels like it’s more about Nagito’s antics than the methodical unraveling of the murder, and that kind of takes away from the actions of the Imposter and Teruteru.
//His erratic behavior, while entertaining, makes it harder to stay grounded in the actual mystery, and as a result, the case feeling more like a dramatic spectacle than a carefully crafted whodunit, due to how little focus there is on the actual specifics of the murder.
//With all of that being said, what the case actually does do with that wasted time, cementing Nagito's role in the story going forward, REALLY leaves you with some intense feelings. And again, if it had REALLY wasted Teruteru and Imposter's characters, then I wouldn't have nearly as much to say about them as I have done.
//Nagito is one of the most fascinating and complex characters in the entire series, and there's no one who can argue that. His dramatic shift from friendly companion to mastermind of mayhem is executed flawlessly, making his first trial a rollercoaster of emotions.
//Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that he makes a hell of an impression, and his antics in this case set the stage for his chaotic brilliance throughout the rest of the game. Whether you’re laughing at his absurdity, recoiling from his insanity, or begrudgingly respecting his intellect, Nagito manages to steal the show
//In summary, what makes this case such a compelling opening is how it immediately subverts the expectations that the first game established, and shows that this game is just a whole new beast.
//When you boot up Danganronpa 2, you most likely expect the sequel to follow the tried-and-true formula of the first game. You know the drill: a few quirky introductions, a grisly murder, and a trial where the guilty party is unmasked with relatively straightforward reasoning. But Case 1 here throws a Monokuma-shaped wrench into that structure right from the start.
//The shock of Byakuya’s death, the one character returning from the first game and someone who seems too important to die so soon, is a massive curveball. Nagito's unhinged behavior makes the courtroom feel more like a theater of absurdity than a place of justice. And yet, amid all this madness, Teruteru’s surprisingly heartfelt motives shine through.
//It’s a case that toys with your emotions, your expectations, and maybe even your sanity, which is why it stands out as such a brilliant opening act for this wild sequel.

Welcome to the worst Tumblr sexyman tourney, where I lazily reuse the iconic tumblr sexyman bracket to see which one of those iconic characters is the worst Tumblr sexyman, either because they're not sexy or they're not tumblr
Depending on how this goes I may make another one that's actually original
The matchups will be randomized each round
the characters
Note that for this first iteration im merely using all the characters that lost on round 1-2 of the big tumblr sexyman tournament (you know, the one that killed the queen)
Current matchups - round three
Turbo (Wreck-It Ralph) vs. The Warden (Superjail)
Almond Cookie (Cookie Run) vs. Bruno Madrigal (Encanto)
Guzma (Pokémon) vs. Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa)

my art timeline :-)
hi! i’m making this because i was inspired by maxpawb’s post i saw on toyhouse , which then led me to look at all my own art that is still somehow intact in my storage. this only details stuff from when i started posting online, not from when i started drawing traditionally as a wee lad. partially because my sketchbooks are lost and partially because i never really wrote down dates on my art to begin with.
a lot of dates are lost, due to the aforementioned problem of me not writing things down.. and also i have awful dissociative memory problems so there’s way too many gaps in my life. but i really did want to do this to see how much i could find & how much i could recollect.
content warning for VERY brief mentions of grooming, as well as minor mentions of real shitty friends
everything is under the cut! there might be another rb if or when i hit the image limit. curse you, tumblr.
date: ??? , i had to be around like. 11 at the time
this was when i joined warriors amino and i deleted my account because i got in trouble for having social media, LMAO. i eventually came back with a new one though. this is probably one of the only surviving art pieces from when i was THIS YOUNG, everything’s on an ipad that’s so broken it won’t even charge
i learned how to use the smudge tool on ibispaint at this time and thought i was the coolest bitch on the block for my blending
may 2019, i was like 12
my return to amino (and brief period on deviantart, which i never used again lmao) i was specifically on wings of fire amino + warriors amino. i was obsessed with airbrush shading.
this is one of my first fursonas which was a wings of fire fanflight called kitsunewings or smth. and also my first species character (he predated the dragon), a bayfox, which was drawn in krita. i never used krita again after this. coincidentally, i was also never active in bayfoxes after submitting him.
i crawled back to ibispaint no matter how many new free programs i tried.. (also tried firealpaca once. i couldn’t even figure out how to draw a line…)
may 2019, 12
the rise of my longest lasting fursona. she got stolen on a shitty app called anime maker once. i can’t remember if she’s older than the dragon, andromeda, but her older iterations definitelt are. this character was just the FIRST first fursona that i actually called that, since i didn’t even really know what a furry was at first
june 2019, 12
my first commission that i sold for like 30 deviantart points (i only used the site for commission purposes, as mentioned before i never really used it lmao)
also i tried to make a closed species on wings of fire amino. second image. it was terribly stressful ; this was around the time i met my longest lasting group of friends (hi freak bin! 5 years <3) and.. some of the worst people i’ve ever met in my life at the same time, LMAOOO
also here’s this kokichi ouma dog i made before i even knew what danganronpa was. i would find out much later, unfortunately
march 2020, still 12 (cause of my august birthday 😒)
there’s a really big gap in my files here. sad! my art kicks into gear at this point tbh, i like how i did the lines. wish i had the energy for such clean lineart still :-(
i think around this time i lost contact with the people who were my groomers (which i would realize later) and i’m thankful that i don’t even remember what their names are.
april 2020 - july 2020, 12
okay these aren’t awful actually. HOW WAS MY ART SO DETAILED. i admire baby frets power, jesus christ
i also did a design raffle when i hit 500 amino followers which is still the most i’ve ever gotten as a following. pretty crazy, i wonder who owns this dude now, i still think they’re cute
august 2020, 13
wow i’m 13 now look at that. i had to go digging for this one, only one i could find that was remotely close to my birthday (it’s the 25th!) this was a drawing for my friend bea lol
was still friends with some pretty shitty people from wings of fire amino, and it was really taking a toll on me. i don’t remember drawing as often as i used to during that time because of all of that.
december 2020, 13
i wish i could still draw backgrounds.. i need more practice
january 2021, 13
okay honestly these are really cute. i don’t know wtf kind of motivation i had for this much detail. the shading is pretty damn good
april 2021, 13
still going strong with the shading and backgrounds. not much to say around this time either lol. the first one is an older design of mine, but they’re pretty damn cute.. i wonder what happens to the desgins i lose track of? but ik this guy has a toyhouse profile i just refuse to look through my like. 200 pages of character designs on there…
july 2021, 13
PUDDLE! PUDDLE OH HOW I MISS YOU. my original favorite oc, i got so much art of him & drew him so much he reached 100 pieces in less than a month. i also met my best friend through this dude.
my art got.. blocky? here? idk what i was doing with all of that but it lasts for a while. lol
october 2021, 14
one year older and i got neo twewy for my birthday and it changed my life permanently. in several ways. anyhow, here’s frindoka furries.. they live in my files forever and will never b drawn again because they got redesigned several more times LOLLLLL
this is the month after i broke off permanently from my shitty old friends, with support of some other friends of mine. thank you guys… i did proceed to get harassed and made paranoid over my text messages by the shitty friends cause they were mad i got one of them banned from a furry adopts server for being literally dangerous. i do know it was them bc it was admitted to & they were some of the only people i gave my phone number to. i was kind of dumb for that
i was happy after my birthday because 13 was one of the worst years of my life. literal constant spirals and breakdowns because this is when i realize i was, in fact, groomed. i’m well and handling it better now.
january 2022, 14
my first d&d character, the mark of my eventual spiral into heath insanity… shadow how i miss you. i ended up redesigning them later on
march 2022, 14
i got into a pokemon arpg around this time and it took over my life for MONTHSSSS. kind of a shitty community in it though, but i appreciate how it improved my artwork. i’m back at the backgrounds! it’s shut down indefinitely now. rip eeveemporium
april 2022, 14
I FOT BACK INTO WAKFUUUU😭😭😭 also got pretty comfortable in my identity as a transgender nonbinary person, but i would get MORE comfortable about my identity later on :-)
this is going to be continued in a reblog because i did, in fact, hit the image limit. oopsie daisies

There's an CU Danganronpa AU. It’s different, but I love it to bits anyway. So have Hazel and Cara in the AU in honor of pride month! With Yuri as a bonus.
Since the creator made Cash Networth the SESL Entrepreneur, I wanted to have his friend Hazel be the SESL Assassin.
i designed Danganronpa Hazel to look more like ACIT!Hazel's first, horrible iteration. i softened the red in her color pallet and made her a skirt a reference to her design in the PMD AU.
Cara is the SESL Programmer. Her design resembles Super Danganronpa Another 2's Sora.
And Yuri is the SESL Nurse.
Hazel and Cash still have their cute friendship.
Cara would be trying to get them together, and this would go on until the chapter where one of them gets pranked or expelled.
And what talents Yuri's sisters, Angel, their mom, and the Hawkins triplets would have:
Georgina: SESL Luckster
Chelsea: SESL Funeral Planner
Angel: SESL Influencer
Sierra: SESL Painter
Alyssa: SESL Actress
Josephine: SESL Cheerleader
Olive: SESL Reporter
Of course Melvinborg is in this AU, as the SESL Cyborg. Based on the creator's notes on him:
Hazel would be mad when she finds out that Melvinborg is Junko's right hand man.
I like to imagine Melvinborg acting as the Kaede of this AU.
Melvinborg actually has two talents, with his SESL Cyborg talent being the true one. His fake talent, SESL Detective, is only shown when Melvinborg is disguised as Dr. Vil Endenemys. He doesn't start the game disguised as the Doctor, but becomes him sometimes.
There are two scenarios with his character:
Scenario 1
Melvinborg becomes a prankster.
No accidents, or Kaede-level motivations of stopping a Mastermind... kind of. he'd want to make sure that a timeline where nobody gets pranked becomes the main timeline - or what he sees as a Better Timeline - and try to set up the parameters for its existence but it goes sideways in some way (and by "sideways", we mean he becomes a prankster and gets expelled).
Scenario 2
Melvinborg claims he's the mastermind (when it's the AI boys), and MonoKrupp throws him out into the ocean.
Angry, Melvinborg then swims back to Jabberwock Island to confront MonoKrupp and be with Hazel, as his ego doesn't allow him to do worse than that "loose tooth", but both siblings end up on security duty with Krupp.
The Danganronpa AU belongs to @princeasimdiya12

Thank you for giving my old Mahiru post some love again. I remember this one! And honestly I thought it had more notes than it did. (Proof that tumblr overwhelms you with the notes on your posts.)
I don't hold it (the post) in such high regard today. I think it's pretty plain, but maybe that's because I take this point of view for granted. I think the meat of it is exploring how Mahiru put trust in Fuyuhiko in that moment... Especially as a girl who repeated that she couldn't trust men to do shit... And how brave it made her look. In the heart of action, and possibly because she was faced with her own mistakes, Mahiru's convictions led her to not only put on a brave face but also to believe in Fuyuhiko.
I like that Mahiru is a character who doesn't shy away from telling others the truth to their faces. It's a realistic trait that a lot of people will read as being aggressive, confrontational and such, but from Mahiru's point of view comes from a place of believing in others. I believe that if I tell you the truth you can learn from it and change. I believe in you enough to face you, and not to abandon you.
One main aspect I'd correct about this original post is my misremembering that the very sweet, much softer aspects of Mahiru's personality aren't shown in DR2. It's true that she was more of a softie in DR3, which can be explained not just by the story not having too much time for her, but also by the different setting that led her to behave in different ways. Meeting new people in a life or death situation doesn't exactly put the same pressure on you as... high-school. However, I think it's very obvious that Mahiru is presented with this "tsundere" aspect - a very surface level iteration of the trope, which contrary to what a lot of Danganronpa does, does not exaggerate her traits and instead portrays a fairly realistic teenage girl who doesn't want to admit her feelings. One of the arguments I've had about Mahiru that I feel the strongest about is one in which I had to point out that Mahiru's teenage girl experience is very relatable to people who have been teenage girls in the past - from not wanting to admit when you have positive feelings, to feeling pressured to be more responsible and mature by the men raising you, which both go hand in hand. And within this portrayal, Mahiru is presented as particularly soft. She has a strong sense of needing to be helpful, she blushes easily, she's passionate about seeing people's smiles and once you get her to lower her shield, she's a very sincere individual. The exploration of her sincere wants possibly makes her look like even more of a softie than she was in DR3.
(Ooooh noooo this is turning into another long pooost, from my cellular telephooooooone)
Ultimately, I'm just trying to comment on that old post I wrote. So I'll point out that if I sat down to actively write about Mahiru nowadays, I would most likely shift most of my focus to the unfortunately very common perception that "she hates men soooo bad". It's one of those takes that feel like a direct attack to my person - contrary to any random disagreement or misconception of a fictional character, which doesn't affect me personally - because it takes a very realistic depiction of something teenage girls are put through and insults them for it. Not just that, it also uses those feelings as an excuse to argue against feminism, with the usual "feminists hate men" argument. I don't think it's fine that I have to sit here and randomly see some new user on a Discord server tell me that this experience that comes directly from the misogyny we endure is instead women being the sexist ones! And how many times will this user soon reveal that "actually I never did Mahiru's FTEs. I didn't even know she talked about her dad." "Actually I just saw a Let's Play in 2015 and haven't seen the game since." Not playing the game fully is not a moral failing, but I think there is a lot to say about how this reputation was put on Mahiru's back and how willing so many people were to accept it.
I'll make a quick mention of it, since I recently replayed the game... Mahiru never hates men. Like that's straight up not a thing. (I'd bring up "Were you thinking of Tenko?" as a joke but the same people that argue the way I mentioned above will say she is in fact WORSE than Tenko in that regard. Huh?) Mahiru calls out the guys' bullshit to their face and has little patience for it - this has nothing to do with hating men and is in fact just a result of being more emotionally mature. So like, she's literally right for it. The more negative thing she actually does is assume that men can't take care of themselves. She is to some extent proven right when she notes that Hajime, for example, doesn't have the habit of looking after his clothes - but Hajime, being a resident Decent Person, defends his position that he can take care of it himself. In saying that, not only does he defend his own ability to be responsible, but he also doesn't put that burden on Mahiru. Although Hajime is like that, Mahiru explains that she is used to having to look after her irresponsible father. The one man who raised her. Her reference for what men are like. This man is a useless bum, so when she meets other men, she expects the same (and puts the burden of responsibility on her own shoulders! She's literally so nice about it!) - this is NORMAL. This HAPPENS. Please please please extend some patience towards teenage girls for once in your life. This is literally her dad's fault. She will learn. She does learn. She just needs some time to adapt. We've all had misconceptions based on the way we were raised as teenagers. She is a growing girl, and this is a common result of the way girls are mistreated. The narrative that Mahiru hates men is actively a label the patriarchy needs to put on these representations of girls to ensure that it keeps power over them - and so many people, regardless of gender, are playing right into it.
And if you want to say that it's not that deep, you're right! This is extremely surface level. Mahiru's real personality is extremely easy to find out about, and the treatment of any woman who calls men out as a man-hater is extremely common. None of this is deep because it was bound to happen. But the second someone tries to explain it, you assume they're making things too deep, because you're facing the deep-seated things YOU have to unlearn.
Anyway BONK amirite

a disorganized analysis/thinkpiece on danganronpa v3's ending
also known as: why drv3's ending was not the shitshow people think it is and what we can learn from its implications. spoilers under the cut (obviously).
i really do think that v3 was the best place to end the series on. to me it feels like some very poignant commentary on seasonal rot, fan reception, and the role of creatives in pop culture. like... in-game, danganronpa was in its 53rd iteration. there's no doubt that plenty of plot points were repeated over and over and over again— namely the continual reappearance of junko. "it's always junko enoshima", tsumugi says. and she's right. the shadow of junko enoshima looms over the entire franchise. she's omnipresent, seeping through every writing choice and plot beat for her brand recognition. i can only imagine that the writers behind the show in-game (and perhaps irl) were growing tired of having to do the same thing every single time.
the truth is, you can't keep a franchise going without it eventually growing stale in some way. all things must end eventually, no matter how great they are. and truthfully, so much of our media landscape is permeated by the same exact franchises, the same exact games, the same exact shows and movies. think for a moment about, say, games like final fantasy xiv and genshin impact (both of which i adore, to be clear). both games will eventually reach a natural end point, but i must admit that i fear the inevitable prolonging of both because they're popular and profitable. games such as MMOs and live service gachas are not sustainable forever. you can't expect creatives to seriously want to keep working on the exact same story their entire life. that's not even mentioning, say, the marvel cinematic universe or supernatural, with both franchises reaching a good place to end and then just... not.
that's the kind of thing that drv3 was trying to comment on. and frankly, the fan reception to that callout only further proved its point. i've been in the dr fandom since 2013 and was around for v3's initial release. people were furious at the ending— downright spiteful, i might add! after all, they weren't happy that the series they loved was so cynically turned on them! and while i can't blame anyone for being upset at that, i can blame those who did not critically look at themselves and the series, and only demanded more and more of the franchise. frankly, if dr had continued past v3, i don't think it would have been all that interesting or well-written. kodaka's already moved onto new projects, so why can't we? because we're so attached to fiction in the same way that tsumugi is, clinging to what's familiar and never branching out? valuing what isn't real over our own lives and well-being?
the truth of the matter is, everything ends. stories, events, good times, bad times, life itself. but the end to anything can be the beginning of another. and shouldn't life be full of wonderful, varied experiences?
and if we have to keep junko twelve feet under to do so, then i think it's worth it.

A few of the many genres of characters I've encountered over the years (some overlap included)
Favorite characters
Exactly what it sounds like. Of everyone in this piece of media, this character or group of characters is my blorbo. A couple of my favorite characters are Gohan from Dragon Ball and Kakashi from Naruto.
Comfort characters
As the name suggests, these are the characters that I go to for comfort. A lot of people seem to view their comfort characters romantically, but with exceptions, I tend to view them in a more familial way. A couple of these characters are Chihiro Fujisaki from Danganronpa and Vivi from Final Fantasy 9.
Crushes
It might be an asexuality thing, but I've only really had 4 characters that I would say I've had a real crush on. Said characters, in order of when I was into them, are Machine Ghost from Skylanders, Geno Sans from the Undertale AU Aftertale, Sakura Ogami from Danganronpa, and Xiao from Genshin Impact. That being said, though, I have definitely noticed a couple types...
You're attractive, but...
Characters that I DO think are attractive, but don't consider full-on crushes. Seems to include about 7 of every 10 twinks with baggage and about 9 of every 10 women with muscles.
Squishes
Basically a platonic crush. For some reason or another, I want this character to be my friend. The first example I can think of right now is Itto from Genshin Impact.
Love-hate relationship
I have a lot of thoughts on this character. I don't exactly dislike them, but I'm not always a big fan of them either. Ultimately, I want good things for characters in this category, but I'm also really tired of their BS. Examples include Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa, Childe from Genshin Impact, and most iterations of Karai.
GO TO THERAPY OH MY GOD
This character has been through a lot of horrible shit, and therefore, I am deeply concerned about their mental and emotional well-being. Oftentimes, this character will show strong signs of PTSD or some other trauma-induced disorder, but the writers usually won't get that deep into it. Examples include Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7, Last Ronin Mikey, and honestly, about half the cast of Danganronpa.
Fight me @ Dennys
Characters I would not hesitate to throw hands with in a Dennys parking lot at 3 AM, typically on sight. I always hate these characters, but I also feel like I could take them in hand-to-hand combat. Examples include Tsumugi Shirogane from Danganronpa and Heather Duke from Heathers.
I want to study you
Exact traits may vary, but for some reason, this is always a male character whose morality ranges from kinda ambiguous to straight-up evil that I might or might not actually like, but definitely want to study under a microscope. Sometimes (the Oni from Dead By Daylight), I just find the character interesting; sometimes (Kokichi Oma), their actions played a large role in the plot, and I want to understand the character better because of that. And sometimes (Hiroto from The Last Ronin), it's a case of, "You are a horrible person and I really don't like you, but GOD DAMN IT, that's literally the best villain monolog scene I've ever read."
Childhood friends
I loved the media these characters are from as a young child, so when I go to that same piece of media now, it feels a little bit like hanging out with an old friend. Examples include Spyro the Dragon and most good-aligned TMNT characters, especially the Turtles themselves.
ADOPT ME PLEASE
Usually directed at groups of characters rather than just 1. Basically, I want to be part of whatever family unit these characters are part of. Yes, found families are included with this. Examples include the Dreemurr family from Undertale, the Chain from Linked Universe (more specifically Time, and by proxy Malon), and Aizawa from MHA.
PROTECC DA CHILD
This is a child character that has probably been through some shit (though not always). Regardless, I feel very protective of this character. Examples include, but are not limited to, Eri from MHA, Marlene and Denzel from Final Fantasy 7, and all of the Warriors of Hope except for Monaca.
Give me the adoption papers STAT
I want to adopt this character as my own. Oddly enough, the only human character in this category is Gonta Gokuhara from Danganronpa. The rest are various animals and fantasy creatures.
The "Adopt, Don't Shop" PSA
An escaped lab experiment that I want to befriend. The name of this category is inspired by a post I made a while ago. Examples include Shadow the Hedgehog, Izuru Kamakura, and Mewtwo, among other, debatably less edgy characters.
Sleep paralysis demon
Something about this character deeply unsettles me. Maybe they just look creepy (Sonic.EXE), maybe it's something they did (Junko Enoshima), maybe it's something I associate them with (2012 Shredder). Either way, this character represents bad things in my mind somehow.
Blorbo by association
I really like this character. This character also reminds me very much of another character I like from a different piece of media. That other character is probably dead. I'm pretty sure these things are all connected. Examples include Razor from Genshin Impact and Eri from Pokémon.
HONORABLE MENTION: stray cats
I can't tell if I want this character as a friend or if I feel bonded to them like a stray cat who can't be adopted separately. The only character in general I feel this for is Future Trunks, but it's a specific enough emotion that I felt like it was worth mentioning.

Remember, you can ask for specification on anything I've listed!
(Also, keep in mind there is NO WAY I'm gonna be able to remember them all rn so this post is probably going to update occasionally)
The whole reason I came to tumblr was just to have another platform to freak out about the things I love so feel free to rant to/with me if anything you like is on this list
(I was gonna add what YouTubers I watch but felt that they were kinda separate, but I can definitely list those too in a seperate post if anybody asks)

OKAY FINE I'LL TALK ABOUT DR AU:
(Fair warning Danganronpa for those who might not know basically handles the concept of basically being locked up and forced to kill one another, which especially in this iteration is, something particularly disturbing so this is your warning right from the get-go)
The general premise of the TMNT Danganronpa au is basically what it says on the tin. a DR au with the turtles, which if youve played any of the games or encounted even a fangan, the idea of having that premise WITH the different iterations of the same 4 folks is. a concept.
The general POV follows Rise!Donnie, who lacks any memories of how he wound up where he is with the occational slip into 2012!Mikey POV because lord knows we need some levity in these trying times.
Monokuma (because of course, it'd still be monokuma) basically dragged the 87, 03, 12, and Rise turtles in one place and fores them to kill each other which, for some is already awkard enough sonce they already knoe each other (i.e the 87 turtles in relation to theb03 and 12 turtles) but then theres the rise turtles who are JUST now finding out that theres a whole multiverse that exists.
At First things are fine, the rise turtles are learning more about their other iterations and said others are meeting some counterparts that arent just the 87 turtles for the first time.
Durring this time, theres quite a few obvious groups that naturally kind of just. form
1. First off and most obviously all the Leos. Raphs, Donnies and Mikeys basically hit it off right from the get go. For different reasons but they all have a general appreciation for the counter part as well as just the common goal of getting out of here
2. 12!Mikey is trying REALLY hard to connect with Rise!Donnie and the crux of this au is basically their dynamic shifts as the story goes on.
Theres obviously a lot more small grouos that kind of form but these two typically are like. the BIG ones at keast early on.
All of them also wear collars on their neck which were placed before getting there and basically serve as a bomb in order to keep them in check as WELL as a shakle in order to dampen the rise turtles ninpō in particular (they can theoretically still use it but its severely nerfed and actually puts a strain on them).
Even when they all insist no one would stoop as low as it is to actually kill each other, it DOES eventually happen, and it KEEPS happening, and it both figuratively and literally tears them all apart.
#i might talk about the SPECIFIC cases one day but rn ima keep it general#tmnt#tmnt 1987#tmnt 2003#tmnt 2012#rottmnt#vals wacky aus

//And Sara Chidouin from Your Turn To Die takes the win as Kaede Akamatsu's opponent, with 34.9% of the vote.
//This one was fucking CLOSE! According to our math, she won this poll by 1 VOTE! Better luck next time Kotone.
//Now for our 10th match...allow me to throw you a curveball~
//Reasoning Below:
Pop Fizz - Pop Fizz is an alchemist and while Seiko technically isn't one, she might as well be. Their concoctions can often times be ridiculous, giving people strange powers or having interesting effects on their body, most notably drinking their main concoction allows both of them to turn into powerful monsters with insane strength and capabilities.
Lizard - Both in their natural state are timid scientists who create strange concoctions; with the intention of helping people around them. In one way or another, both are impaired (Seiko was born with an illness that required her to take regular doses of medicine to stay alive and prevented her from eating food with high sugar levels, and Connors is an amputee who lost his arm while working as a combat medic) and both work as important scientists for a well-known, well-established organization (Future Foundation for Seiko and either S.H.I.E.L.D or Oscorp for Connors depending on the iteration) Due to the power of their unique medicine, both of them can turn into powerful, destructive monsters that can tear apart anything in their path.
Takemi - Takemi in ScruffyTurtles Adult Confidant AU, AKA Doc, shares the same backstory as her main-game counterpart, which is similar to Seiko's. Both were born with a weak physical complexion that required them to receive constant medical care as a child, and as a result became prodigy’s in medicinal practices (Seiko became the Ultimate Pharmacist and Takemi became a well-respected junior Doctor by the time she was in college). Both of them also had a close relationship with someone who seemed to look after them, only for their relationship to become strained as a result of that persons actions in manipulating them (Seiko was Ruruka Ando's best friend, but was constantly used by her and constantly gaslit and guilt-tripped into doing what she wanted, and Takemi was a student of Hinaharu Sakimaru, who acting like a motherly figure to her while secretly dragging her into her organ trafficking schemes). After reaching their breaking point, both unlocked their unique powers through external means and fought against that person (Seiko became a monster with her medicine and tried to hunt Ruruka in the Final Killing Game, and Takemi awakened to her Persona, Metradora, after confronting Hinahara’s Shadow.)
Moira - Both characters are scientists who dabble in what many can consider to be inhumane and illegal experiments, and typically use human test-subjects for said practices (Seiko creates strange medicines with weird effects, like increasing someone's strength to it's max or making people hot and horny, and in Danganronpa 3, she usually gives these concoctions to Teruteru to use in his cooking, which leads Class 77 to unknowingly and unwillingly become her Guinea Pigs; and Moira frequently uses animals and humans for her bio-engineering experiments with varying results, including Gabriel Reyes, who due to her experiments would eventually become Reaper) Due to some unfortunate events, they were kicked out of their residence of work (Seiko is expelled from Hope's Peak and Moira was blacklisted by Overwatch) but eventually went on to join an equally powerful organization who put their skills to good use; albeit on different sides (Seiko joins the heroic Future Foundation and becomes the Head of Branch 4, while Moira joins the villainous Talon and becomes their lead scientist)
Coyle - Both are scientists who experiment with medicine and/or tech designed to make them stronger, typically by using the people around them as test subjects against their will and knowledge (As mentioned, Seiko used other students at Hope's Peak, specifically Class 77, as a means of testing her medicine, and Dr Coyle observed and collected data from the other ARMS fighters) and in the end, both ended up subjecting themselves to their own experiments in order to achieve their own ends and assure their survival (Seiko took her own Doping Corn Soup to become a monster during the Final Killing Game, and Coyle allowed Hedlok, a menacing masked robot that attaches itself to other fighters, to take over her own body for a boost of power and strength). Both also had a very tight relationship at one point with another character in their series, but had a falling out down the line and became worst enemies as a result (Ruruka Ando and Max Brass respectively).

I can try and explain the notable ones I know about that others may not. which is why I won’t be explaining any in the sky portion, since I assume most know about them
CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR: Danganronpa Another, SDRA2, Danganronpa Despair Time, Project Eden’s Garden, Danganronpa V4 Rocky Restarts, Danganronpa Heartless Deceit, Danganronpa Rejected Zer0, Danganronpa Antebellum, Danganronpa Hushed Whispers
[ below cut ]
Moraiteru Voice Actress Change
This is related to a fangan called Danganronpa F: Shattered Hope. On May 5th, 2023, the Shattered Hope Twitter account announced that Jayjitsu, the voice actress for one of the fangan’s characters, Moraiteru, was retiring from her role due to a busy irl schedule. In addition, they announced Luucarii would be replacing her as Moraiteru’s voice actress for the remainder of the project.
Unused Eden’s Garden Voice Files
Many people don’t know these even exist. There are a few voice lines in the files of the Eden’s Garden prologue that go entirely unused and don’t play at any point in the prologue. Some are simply earlier recordings of existing voice lines that were replaced by newer ones, some seem to be practice lines that were left in, while others are actually pretty funny and seem to have been left in as jokes. Two notable examples of these files include Damon saying “it’s not cute” like a tsundere, and an unused audio file of Desmond screaming in horror.
ReBirth Creator Made Ayakashi Akashi
Ayakashi Akashi is an in-development RPGMaker Horror Mystery game that has a relatively small fandom, and follows a middle school teacher realizing an unexpected evil has been unleashed onto his class, and he must solve the mystery before more tragedy occurs. However, what a lot of people don’t know is that Miwashiba is the developer of Ayakashi Akashi. Many people in the fangan community are aware that Miwashiba is also the one who created the original “Danganronpa ReBirth”, which was actually an April Fool’s prank that sought to trick people into thinking there was a new Danganronpa game coming out.
Kim Davis Execution
This is about a cancelled fangan called Danganronpa V4: Rocky Restarts. Before the game was “fully released”, the creator, Stephen, uploaded a video to YouTube involving the protagonist of the fangan, Kim Davis, being executed. This execution goes entirely unused in the game and furthermore the story, since Kim never dies in-game.
Damon Maitsu Gay Implications
This is about the Eden’s Garden Chapter One demo and is what I assume to be sort of a joke entry. Many people believe that Damon is heavily implied to be a gay man due to some of his behavior, and due to Nifast (the game’s lead artist) supposedly headcanoning Damon as such. The biggest indicator of this is when he off-handedly thinks that the shirtless male model on the calendar in his room is “pretty sexy”.
Lifeline David Chiem
Of course I fucking know about this one. I am the creator of it. This is referring to a Fandom Wiki page about an iteration of David Chiem used in a discord killing game roleplay called Danganronpa Lifeline. Many people became confused by its existence, and some mistook it for a page for canon David. People even continue to use the icons uploaded to the page for various purposes. Some time after the page gained more traction, I put a warning at the top of the page to let people know this was a page for a roleplay-specific David, and not for DRDT David. The page still exists today and is one of the top results when you search for David’s name.
DRFSH Beta Design YouTube Shorts
Shattered Hope-related again. On the Shattered Hope YouTube channel, a series of shorts were uploaded that showcased the beta designs for some of the characters in the fangan, their original personalities, and sometimes even their beta talents.
Goodnight Tomoya
A comic created by Mayaisuu about a hypothetical situation for Danganronpa Heartless Deceit. The comic follows Yumeo as he misses his chance to apologize to Tomoya before the latter is murdered in the killing game, and feels guilty over it. The comic was recently remade.
Danganronpa The Witching Hour
This is actually a roleplay that is often mistaken for a full-fledged fangan project. Danganronpa The Witching Hour was a killing game roleplay hosted by Angelop Productions, based around a killing game taking place in a haunted mansion. It became popular mostly for its incredibly uniquely-styled Argument Armament videos, a style that is often emulated by other fangan projects. Currently, Angelop is working on another roleplay, called Danganronpa Winter Masquerade.
Rosie and the Raven
Shattered Hope-related. This is the credits song for every episode of Danganronpa F, composed and sung by Stevie Viola. The song received its own animated music video on January 12th, 2022.
Danganronpa 64
A web series fangan that takes after Danganronpa 69. It is one of those “crazy crossover fangans”, with sprites created using 3D models in Source Filmmaker. Despite supposedly being a joke, it is relatively high-quality in its writing and editing. The series is still in progress, and is available to watch on YouTube.
Fandom’s Calling Cancellation
Danganronpa Fandom’s Calling is a fangan created by Zel. The premise involves Danganronpa becoming so popular, that a Hope’s Peak Academy replica is built and seeks Ultimates to attend it. Of course, it results in a killing game occurring. The game has a fully released prologue and a demo of the Chapter 1 Daily Life. However, a lot of people are unaware that the fangan was actually cancelled in late 2022, and the story was fully explained by Zel. This cancellation went under the radar for a lot of people, and quite a few still think the fangan is in development, hence why it’s a bit lower on the iceberg.
Rocky Restarts Old Sprites
Fans of Rocky Restarts know about the sprites used in the prologue and chapter 1, and the new sprites used in the chapter 2 daily life. However, there are even OLDER sprites originally used in the game that aren’t uploaded anywhere and thus not readily available. These sprites are often used to emphasize jokes throughout the Rocky Restarts Plot Explanation video, and you can view the sprites by watching very old playthroughs of the fangan.
kikuatsuko
Kikuatsuko was a fangan fan content creator, most known for their Danganronpa Another + SDRA2 meme videos, and their Nextgenronpa recap and meme videos. As of now, they have taken all the fangan-related videos off their channel, but reuploads are available to watch on YouTube.
Levi x Ace Wattpad Lemon
This is referring to a fanfic uploaded on Wattpad about Levi and Ace engaging in sexual acts. The fic circulated throughout DRDT tumblr as a joke for a while, due to the fact that it was incredibly poorly-written and heavily mischaracterized both Levi and Ace for the sake of a smutty fic. I believe the story has been taken down as of now, but I’m sure if you scroll back far enough in the DRDT tag, you can find when it was a hot topic in the fandom.
Nextgenronpa Controversy
Going to be quick on this one to avoid anyone getting uncomfortable. The creator of Nextgenronpa, a fangan about the children of DRA and SDRA2 ships in a killing game, was exposed for drawing some pretty disgusting art and being extremely uncivilized with other people.
MILGRAM: The Fangan Chronicles
Once again, another entry I know because I made it! MILGRAM The Fangan Chronicles is an in-development crossover story about characters from multiple fangans being put into MILGRAM. MILGRAM is a music project about judging 10 murderers’ forgive-ability based on music videos and voice dramas, and many fangan fans also happen to be MILGRAM fans.
(Psst.. the project is here: @fangan-milgram )
SMPronpa
SMPronpa was a written fangan, where the cast consisted of members of the Minecraft Server, SMPlive. The fic was requested to be taken down by CallMeCarson, who expressed his discomfort with his friends murdering each other. The fangan was considered lost media for a while, before someone managed to recover it.
Kaizue Jin is Autistic
In one of the episodes of Danganronpa Rejected Zer0, it’s revealed the protagonist, Kaizue Jin, has been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD type 1. It is sort of said in an off-handed comment, so many didn’t catch it.
Danganronpa Deadication April Fool’s Video
This is a video uploaded on the Danganronpa Deadication Youtube Channel. Despite indicating it is a joke in the title, the video advertises itself as the Chapter 1 Body Discovery. Upon watching the video, you are treated to a body discovery with the Peter Griffin death pose as the victim. Funnily enough, this is the last ever video uploaded onto the Deadication youtube channel before it went completely radio silent for 2 years at the time of this post’s creation.
Hope Despair Force
Hope Despair Force is an online roleplay service hosted on Attorney Online 2. The reason it is on this iceberg is because the server includes DRA, SDRA2, Rebirth, Eden’s Garden, and some Blowback sprites in its base character roster.
Danganronpa The Wolf’s Game Controversy
Similar deal with Nextgenronpa. The creator of Danganronpa The Wolf’s Game was accused of some pretty gross stuff. I believe the callout was made on Instagram, but I can’t seem to find the post anywhere. Unlike with Nextgenronpa though, I am unsure if these accusations were ever confirmed or not.
David and Nico Smoking a Blunt Fanfiction
This was a fic uploaded by miracleacey to AO3 about, you guessed it, David and Nico smoking a joint given to them by Xander. They both get high, obviously. Nico just gets sleepy while David gets paranoid and tries to look for Xander. The fic is rather short and contains no tags categorizing it as a crack fic, no matter how much it may sound like one.
Danganronpa: God’s at Gunpoint
This is an in-development playable fangan created by deimosatellite. The prologue is available to download on itch.io, and Chapter 1 was set to release in October 2022, but it did not come out when it was supposed to. After a year or so of silence, the fangan has posted various updates and appears to be continuing development.
Danganronpa Checkmate
This was a single chapter fangan project released by Bazileaf and Kokkun. It was created for a one month writing challenge, and as such, the single chapter is considered the complete game. It has become a bit of a joke among Heartless Deceit fans, since Kokkun is now developing Heartless Deceit.
Xanvid Cannibalism Fanfiction
The entry said “Fanfiction”, but it would be more accurate to put an “s” at the end, since there are multiple of these. The fics are all uploaded to AO3, and more or less follow the same formula of Xander fantasizing about, and in some cases actually going through with, eating and/or brutalizing David out of sheer adoration for him. All the fics are pretty disturbing, and many fans of DRDT have chosen to avoid reading them based on the tags alone.
Mikadocest
Siiigh okay. This is a trend (or more accurately, an anomaly) when the final Chapter of SDRA2 released, where some of the more peculiar fans of the game shipped the real Mikado with his simulation self. I don’t think I need to say more..
“Shinku Mastermind Sprite”
This is an image hidden in the Danganronpa Antebellum files. It seems like it’s meant to be bait for file-searchers looking for spoilers in the files. It, of course, is not a sprite at all, nor is it anything among the lines of what the file name claims. Just a joke image.
Yoruko Kabuya Queerbaiting Accusations
This is the one I know the least about. Apparently people on Reddit began accusing LINUJ of shipteasing Yoruko and Sora to the point of it being considered queerbaiting to them? Either that or it’s just people getting mad that Yoruko was never confirmed as a lesbian or something like that. Just wanted to try and explain this to the best of my ability since it’s on the lowest tier and I felt like input was needed.
Danganronpa Hushed Whispers Death Order
A lot of people don’t know this, but Danganronpa Hushed Whispers, a web series fangan with a very small fanbase, was cancelled some time in 2023. A little while ago, the creator released the complete death order for the fangan, as well as a few plot points that would’ve been touched on in the story.
Since this one is the most not well-known, I’ve included the images for it:
That’s all. If you want explanations for any of the others that I didn’t mention here, I can try to look into them
chat we should make a fanganronpa/drdt iceberg justr saying
