so what’s the deal with lunchlady food melvinborg?

in tetocu23, the changes made were less outright going from scratch as it was shuffling around the general pacing of his arc and what’s emphasized 

vil endenemys is earlier established in the season, and on occasion referenced so that by the time he becomes a main player near the finale it feels like there’s a payoff. we’ve played around with the idea that he’s the reason why krupp enacted the office counter. it was initially meant to be a deterrent for the boys, after all if they see the slow progression until they’re punished then they’re bound to stop right? the boys, being adhd kings Do Not Perceive It as soon as they step out the office

as i’ve mentioned in the previous post, he doesn’t reveal his identity immediately. whenever he’s the principal, he has his vil disguise. he tends to be dunked on by the rest of the kids because 10 year olds are just like that

melvinborg... isn’t actually a cyborg anymore! that’s probably the biggest change; instead, he has a suit of armor powered by leftovers that makes him look like one. the melvinborg moniker was made up by the kids or something and he lowkey hates it. the armor makes sure that he can interact with his own past without accidentally making him stop existing

the other big change is that he’s much younger than his canon counterpart. he’s at an odd age for this setting-- he’d be considered an adult by the kids but a child by the rest of the adults (and is also why he continues his whole charade as vil). he hasn’t moved on from never getting into eliteanati, he thinks his life is over despite the fact he’s literally 18-ish, and someone has probably said he peaked in high school

similar to canon, him and present day melvin work together to get the latter in eliteanati. borg insists that he’s looking out for him because of the mindset of “you can only trust yourself” and “adults know what’s right” makes a dangerous combination in this context. over the course of the season, the present day melvin has a seed of doubt from a surprising source and by the time the latter half of the season rolls around his faith in him diminishes. 

melvinborg is so dead-set on eliteanati that it actively shoots him in the foot-- there’s actually another concept where the latter half of the season (which hybridizes aspects of season 3 and a little of the space season, so now they’re in a camp for spring break mandated by borg) where melvin is offered, not eliteanati, but something that would at least intrigue him to want to weigh his options... only for melvinborg to shoot it down on his behalf

So, what about Cash Networth? Well…

It all starts with the situation with Cash and Javi. In my previous post, I said Cash was going to be more of a Scrooge McDuck character in tetocu23.

As far as the Jack Yacht is concerned, the Salamanger episode mostly plays the same as the original… except for one particularly heavy development. Because (according to the writers of the AU) Krupp and Captain are going to lean a little closer to their movie selves in this theoretical reboot, I'll definitely remove the part with Krupp pulling a "let's push him overboard lmfao" on poor Cash. He still steals Javi, though in this version, it's just to screw with Cash's head than straight up abuse, and that happens in a separate episode (since this reboot, according to the writers, has 20something eps per season, so Javi gets fleshed out a bit more before he inevitably gets Kruppnapped).

Speaking of our principal, Cash and Krupp's character dynamic wouldn't have one be completely dominant over the other. It would be based on Scrooge and Glomgold's interactions in dt17... but less murder-y and stuff lol

Javi is still a background character, but he does… talk and stuff. He's calm and collected, sweet, but he also has a tendency to becoming incredibly depressed when anything upsetting happens, or flying off the handle and losing his temper the more his buttons get pushed.

Also, Javi is gay for Cash. Consider Javi and Cash the Scrooge and Launchpad of the AU… if Scrooge and Launchpad were gay af

Also, Cash has a niece! This reboot does what dt17 did - include reinterpretations of all the DT characters we know and love (or love to hate, depending on what character), along with tetocu23 original ones.

This is Alyssa Hawkins, Cash Networth's niece!

Let's say that Alyssa is a former child actor who used to be a teen actress. Very famous, to. But, ahem, backlash from toxic fans has waned her desire to be an actress, so nowadays she's just a bit of a theatre kid.

Being the niece of the billionaire owner of Camp Uppercrust means Alyssa is rich, too. She's a bit of a chaotic gremlin that likes to banter with her uncle. She also loves rambling about Yu Gi Oh (the original manga series, mind you) to him. Alyssa, except for Krupp and the Melvins, is kind to her friends and is very forgiving, even forgiving Meaner for what he did to her friends in the Borelock episode. Hates Krupp with every fiber of her being, despite Krupp not treating Cash as horribly as he did in tetocu.

If TETOCU23!Hazel is a detective version of dt17!Webby Vanderquack then this girl is an unholy mashup of 87 Webby and B.O.Y.D.

Is in denial about her bisexuality.

Is friends with Hazel. And frenemies with Cara.

Their friendship kinda works, because Alyssa needs an outlet for her energy, Cara needs a new slave and Hazel needs a good right-hand man (or right-hand girl).

Captain Underpants and the Problematic Pandemonium of the Punishing Plungerina! (TETOCU23 Edition)

the episode concept hybridizes two episodes-- season 1′s TP Mummy with ree’s character reveal and the plungerina concept seen in season 2, except she was retooled to be erica’s monster of the week form instead. we imagined this coming around later in the season-- even to the point of having her be the final monster of the week kid in the first season.

the general idea was that, throughout the season erica has been built up as this kid who grew up too fast. whenever the big plot of the day happens, she’s usually off to the side doing her work. unlike melvin, she does this out of necessity because she wouldn’t have the time at home. 

during the dressy monster of the week episode (chronologically before this), this is actively challenged where she has a more active role in stopping her, as well as get a new friend in the process! this is also the part where erica realizes that, hey, acting like a kid her age and being friends with others feels pretty nice.

now, in this episode, the pressure reaches a boiling point for erica. there’s a few versions of what exactly made her go full monster of the week-- her parents not showing up for parent teachers conference, ree unintentionally exacerbating the issue through a series of circumstances left to be determined, erica being unable to juggle all of her responsibilities and her new social connection. 

as a result, the boys and captain have to fight erica as plungerina and ree’s secret comes to light. the omega toilet is probably involved in the climax (i mean, it didn’t flush properly... it’ll be a real Hoisted By Their Own Petard moment if erica unplugs it and that’s how she’s brought out of the monster of the week form)

post-episode, ree takes her as a protégée after seeing her skills in plunger-based combat. this was one part because their dynamic in the canon camoflush ep was fun and needs some lead up to the equivalent in this au, but also because the opportunity is so good. i mean, the both of them fight with bathroom supplies and tetocu23!erica is in need of a decent/solid adult figure in her life!

and some general notes:

prior to this episode, ree appears in the background after school-wide monster of the week fights to clean up to subtly set him up. he sometimes does weird stuff like collect samples, but with how weird the other staff is, it doesn’t seem as weird in comparison

since the legacy movie characters are going to be in this theoretical reboot (and lean a little closer to their movie selves), there’s no reason for a yewh-type character for krupp to pine over on account of edith being there (that isn’t to say that she may not come back)

this kind of makes erica, dressy, and ree a bit of a parallel to the george-harold-captain trio dynamic. this will be relevant later when the boys are properly expelled and the kids are left to fend for themselves against endenemys

so me and and another collaborator have been spitballing some concepts re: tetocu, but mostly the kids introduced. a lot of it involved having them show a more varied/deeper look at them to emphasize the original book’s themes of kids vs. the school system and it lowkey snowballed into what’s basically an indulgent dt17-esque reboot (in terms of how much it keeps faithful/what it changes with the source material), but tetocu.

anyway, here’s a lineup and a few out-of-context doodles of potential interactions/conflicts/’episodes’. there’s more info on the characters under the read more

general points

one of the main points of contention was the kids. the ensemble cast was honestly a good call for a tv series, but the kids are just surface-level tropes, if they even have a particular angle to them in the first place. as cute as the MISFARTS concept was, it was difficult to buy into it considering how little development there were for the introduced kids

the kids

gooch (aka steve aka suketsugu) is practically a bit of a rewrite situation from his canon counterpart. he’s moved from japan to the US, and frequently around the country as a result of his family needing to move with the museum pieces they’re taking care of. during this time, he’s had to pick up english, and as a result he’s learned to be a bit of a fast-talker to make sure conversations don’t derail from him. him, stanley, and bo are a trio in this one

stanley’s a pretty chill guy for the most part and ridiculously strong as a result of hauling produce on the family farm. a few years ago, he transferred from a different, much rougher school thanks to his new stepdad

bo is mostly the same, save from elaboration re: his background. bullshark had this idea where he lived in a woodsy area all his life and was immediately made the subject of school rumor after bringing a whittling knife. the heart of the trio

dressy is another rewrite situation where her hippie gimmick was angled more towards Animal Enjoyer, which was then further angled towards That One [Insert Animal Here] Kid. as a result of her independent nature, she doesn’t get along with the rest of the kids initially since she has a similar near-sightedness to the boys re: their pranks, but with her LARP shennanigans, sometimes picking fights

erica is a little nerfed in the sense that she isn’t this ultra perfect girl anymore. she leans more into the type of child forced to grow up too fast to help with their parents-- in the dm’s she helped around the house by taking care of her siblings. in reality, she’d love to do kids’ stuff like LARP as her self-insert

jessica (and by extension the sophies’) gimmick was angled more towards being a pageant queen. she’s still plenty vain as her canon self, but she can pinpoint anyone’s emotional vulnerabilities after being in the pageant circuit for so long. she also hides her own vulnerabilities regarding her dad who had left in a divorce a few years ago

sophie one is still her right hand/a bit more favored with jessica, but with the justification that she and jessica had prior history together as a result of her mom being part of jessica’s pageant crew-- so she actually knows quite a lot about the world of fashion, sewing, hairdressing, etc. there’s also the concept of her having an older sibling who was once in the pageant circuit, leaving her alone while her mom and sister were off backstage

other sophie mostly just tags along with jessica and sophie 1 of her own volition, but the other kids don’t get it (she has a baby crush on jessica).  mostly just a daydreamer and bookish

so, consider this a bit of a sneak preview of sorts before we get fully into detail into melvinborg’s deal in tetocu23. in this version, the boys and krupp (and by extension cap) are out of commission for a bit as a result of their respective expulsions and firing, leaving the rest of the kids to fend for themselves in the school as vil endenemys makes some changes to the school

unlike canon, vil doesn’t reveal himself at the end of the s1 finale-- that’s for the equivalent of the season 2 ep 1 (or i guess, the season 2 two-parter, as we’ve imagined it)

Remember that Hazel design for tetocu23 I posted yesterday? Well, here's Cara in the AU!

before i say anything else, in this version Cara is still a lesbian disaster and Hazel is still aroace

Okay, my version of Cara is that I rewrote her from a calm and sweet hacker and ended up making her into some supervillain teen.

- She's flamboyant, silly, but also somehow so much more threatening than ACIT Cara.

- Is more prominent in the Captain Underpants scenes than in ACIT (she intervenes if Captain starts losing)

- Saved a kid once

- Can shift from being psychotic to a bit kind.

- She has a crush on Hazel!

- Is still a hacker

- Has white ahoge from experiment gone horribly wrong

- A bit of a mad scientist

- As much as she gloats about herself, he isn't used to people agreeing with her, so hearing others praise her makes her let her guard down, even if it's just slightly.

- Megamind is her favorite animated movie of all time.

- Grape colored hair ribbon was a gift from Moxie.

- Still Moxie's adopted daughter!

- Loves a good old grape drink, contrasts with Hazel's love for strawberry milk and ACIT Cara's love for lemonade and orange juice.

Jerome Hortiz Elementary's new music teacher, Miss Rachel Raspberry!

She's overly naïve, cheerful, and a bit on the ditsy side.

She doesn't believe it when Melvinborg takes over the school.

It isn’t until the tetocu23 equivalent of episode 2 of s2 of tetocu that Rachel realizes that they have to play under Melvinborg's thumb whether she likes it or not.

Becomes a badass as borg makes a mess of the school with his so-called 'improvements'. Her effectiveness varies from a variety of factors, but it *does* mitigate the worst of what happens before standard tetocu monster of the week stuff occurs.

Takes Hazel in as a protege. She might be teacher and student, Rachel seeing a lot of her younger self in her, but on some mental level she thinks of her as a daughter or niece she never got to have.

Say hello to Charlie Hawkins. The Hawkins sisters' mom.

Charlie is the new cookery teacher at Jerome Horwitz Elementary. Works as a waitress.

Assumes nobody would want to date a weird person, and acts normal, to the point of looking incredibly monochromatic. “Ms. Hawkins” is quick to become a favorite of the students, especially George and Harold.

"She's" (more on why I say "she" in the next bulletin point) self-depreciating sometimes. They're nice and love to paint, draw, and sketch.

Charlie is Gender Fluid! So their pronouns will Change Episode by Episode!

They sometimes wear a skirt, sometimes they wear pants.

One time, they act like a stage mom to and get Josephine famous and try to set up the parameters for her daughter's fame but it goes sideways in some way, and they realize that acting like a stage mom is not the right way to act sometimes

Thinks nothing of the weird monsters at the school. But then she hears rumors. Rumors of an odd new superhero wearing nothing but underwear and a red cape with black polka dots…

Clara Baxter, Juilet's mother. A single mom and Jerome Horwitz Elementary's new lunch lady (but is secretly a badass with kendoka).

She looks like a stereotypical maid, and acts the part. All polite and calm, unlike her obsessive stalker daughter. Perfect!

Maybe too perfect. We will discover that Clara's career has heretofore not been in the maid field. She is a highly trained Kendoka master. We will learn that her focus is on the kids. An enormous challenge looms in the future for George and Harold.

She is in love with Cash Networth.

I like to imagine that Cilan, Cress, and Chili are somewhere in this AU, just chilling and watching their cousin (yes, Clara is their cousin).

There's an CU Danganronpa AU. It’s different, but I love it to bits anyway. So have Hazel and Cara in the AU in honor of pride month! With Yuri as a bonus.

Since the creator made Cash Networth the SESL Entrepreneur, I wanted to have his friend Hazel be the SESL Assassin.

i designed Danganronpa Hazel to look more like ACIT!Hazel's first, horrible iteration. i softened the red in her color pallet and made her a skirt a reference to her design in the PMD AU.

Cara is the SESL Programmer. Her design resembles Super Danganronpa Another 2's Sora.

And Yuri is the SESL Nurse.

Hazel and Cash still have their cute friendship.

Cara would be trying to get them together, and this would go on until the chapter where one of them gets pranked or expelled.

And what talents Yuri's sisters, Angel, their mom, and the Hawkins triplets would have:

Hazel would be mad when she finds out that Melvinborg is Junko's right hand man.

I like to imagine Melvinborg acting as the Kaede of this AU.

Melvinborg actually has two talents, with his SESL Cyborg talent being the true one. His fake talent, SESL Detective, is only shown when Melvinborg is disguised as Dr. Vil Endenemys. He doesn't start the game disguised as the Doctor, but becomes him sometimes.

There are two scenarios with his character:

Scenario 1

Melvinborg becomes a prankster.

No accidents, or Kaede-level motivations of stopping a Mastermind... kind of. he'd want to make sure that a timeline where nobody gets pranked becomes the main timeline - or what he sees as a Better Timeline - and try to set up the parameters for its existence but it goes sideways in some way (and by "sideways", we mean he becomes a prankster and gets expelled).

Scenario 2

Melvinborg claims he's the mastermind (when it's the AI boys), and MonoKrupp throws him out into the ocean.

Angry, Melvinborg then swims back to Jabberwock Island to confront MonoKrupp and be with Hazel, as his ego doesn't allow him to do worse than that "loose tooth", but both siblings end up on security duty with Krupp.

So I love the PMD AU to pieces, so have this.

the nieces of Cash Networth, but if they were in the pmd au.

I gave them humanized Pokemon designs.

Because Cash is a Floatzel, I wanted to use Pokemon that made sense for a Pokemon to have.

I made Alyssa a Vivillion, because… why not?

Meadow Variant, because its color scheme fits Alyssa. Vivillion debuted in Kalos. And Kalos is based off France (which makes sense for a bit of the backstory Cash's tetocu23 counterpart has). She used to be a famous Showcase performer, but… well, stuff happened.

Side note, her design was design hell

Josephine was even more fun to design than Alyssa, thankfully. I made her a sirfetch'd (Pom Pom Oricorio variant).

The signs of Oricorio heritage is in her cheer uniform. Yet, her ascot is a sign of her wanting to be like Cash. This fighting type is eager to show you how competent she really is when not distracted by trying to be Cash.

Olive (Mareanie) was a bit tricky to design on the grounds of her skirt. A frilly skirt fit the Mareanie line a bit. She still has the vibes her original design had. listen, if she was going to still be Cash's favorite niece, i am going to capitalize on the cute and psycho motif the Mareanie line has. I do love her teal and purple boots though. Those are totally on-brand for Mareanie.

Alyssa: Bad news, sisters. Uncle Cash's started to hang out with someone. And of all the people he could have chosen to hang out with, it had to be Krupp.

Josephine: Krupp is an ice-type, a type that our uncle is weak to! Not only are we at a type disadvantage, which is horrible, but our uncle is going to get hurt, or hell, even frozen! We're doomed!

Olive: It's not too bad. That Floatzel has probably dealed with far worse. Krupp will be nothing compared to a Cofagrigus.

One is good. But what's better than one? Three!

-Olive Hawkins is the youngest sibling.

-Is very good at maths and science

-Olive is very smart, almost to the point of being considered a child prodigy, though she doesn't like to admit it.

-She’s very bad at expressing herself along with her needs. She’ll do writing on paper to get her point across.

-A narcissistic, sadistic, and tyrannical little madame who is considered an unofficial "third Melvin" Krupp hates (good lord, now's there three of them!).

-has a good life, being the favorite of Uncle Cash and popular at school, but it’s all been because of grades and deep inside she hates herself for it, but clings to a mean and spiteful facade

- Has a waspish blazer

- Is sarcastic af

- side note, it took an absurdly long time to figure out what color her skirt should be

-Josephine was much easier to design than Olivia, thankfully.

-If Alyssa is the twin who is far better with music, drawing, and general abstract things, Josephine is the triplet who is much better with sports, fashion, and other physical bodily things.

-Is a bit of a cheerleader.

- Calm to contrast Alyssa, and nice to contrast Olive

-She really idealizes this rich lifestyle where she'll be able to achieve a happily ever after.

- She's so ditzy that she doesn't even realize her well connected, rich girl experiences aren't universal.

- Dresses like Uncle Cash minus the hat

Meet Melvin's cousin! This is Lucy Anderson.

The school's unofficial librarian.

After failing out of yet another boarding school, Lucy's landed in JHES.

Like her cousin, Lucy is a bit of a smartass (though she isn't NEARLY as bad as Melvin in this regard), and, quite frankly, is uncomfortable about what her cousin has become infamous for around the school. She has no interest in being a tattletale.

She's lived indoors all of her life, and she's pale and has a lot of trust issues due to the lack of contact with the outside world.

She’s become tired of being the cousin of such a big tattletale, making her a bit bitter, but she’s too afraid of what Aunt Cindy and Uncle Gaylord will say to even think of trying to get rid of him.

Melvin's ego and Melvinborg's lack of morals makes Lucy hate them.

Yup, Lucy's a pure teacher’s pet. She does not trust Mr. Ree and lies about him a lot (huh, I was just going to help Mr. Ree clean the school for a few weeks).
