Dead Serious Oblivious Dating Trope

AKA "Damian thinks flirting/dating entails a lot more violence than the average person and Danny's confused as to why this vigilante keeps prepositioning him for battles" idea!

Okay, so, I know Damian went to live with Bruce when he was still a kid, 10 or something, but what if he joined the Batfam when he was older? Like imagine he's had an entire childhood and adolescence in the League of Assassins, so he's raised in this culture of being The Best (i.e., strongest fighter, intelligent and knowledgeable, etc.). And maybe the LoA typically follows the tradition of arranged marriages, but you may court someone if they're seen as an equal. Talia with Bruce, for example. And!! It's not courting like the "sweet serenading, fan-fluttering, going for a walk in a park with a chaperone" Bridgerton-type courting.

In the League of Assassins, you court by battling your intended's guardian to the death.

So, fast-forward to Damian learning how to assimilate into Gotham city culture. He still struggles to learn his place in the Batfam, but he's older and has a better grasp on his emotions; no trying to kill Tim, no constant threats of death and dismemberment, no jealously protecting the title of Heir. He's... kind of like Bruce actually. Damian is scarily competent, logical, and level-headed but super intense.

Danny, who's been living in Gotham for awhile and has gotten to know the Batfam fairly well, meets the newest addition while on patrol. Let's say he's still Phantom but cosplays as a Meta. Bruce let him stay in Gotham because he's a sucker for a black-haired, blue-eyed, abused kids.

Their introduction goes about as well as the Batfam expects. Damian is all business, only offering a quick nod and his name before returning his focus to patrol. Danny's maybe a bit taken aback but doesn't take it too personally since he'd already been given the rundown by Tim.

Damian and Danny end up patrolling together while Batman and Cass investigate some lead by the docks or something. Their night turns pretty badly when Clayface attacks. Damian ends up being the damsel in distress since he's only ever faced human enemies; even the deadliest opponents in the League could still be killed using swords or the usual combat weapons. Danny ends up using his powers to defeat Clayface before Batman can come back.

And then Danny goes home, content that he was able to let loose a little without Batman there to supervise him, and doesn't think about it after. Damian, however, is downright enamored because Danny was terrifying while fighting. His movements were lupine like a panther, a comfortability in his posture that spoke of decades in combat; his eyes turned Lazarus Pit green, chilling in its intensity. His skin took on a ghostly pallor and Damian could've sworn his teeth sharpened. He looked like a deity of War.

(Danny doesn't know this, of course; he was just happy to enjoy a really good fight since he hasn't unleased his Full Ghost powers in a long minute.)

A couple weeks pass and Danny's invited to a Wayne family dinner. Except when he shows up, Damian - who he thought he'd kind of bonded with since he'd literally saved the guy from Clayface - tries to kill him. Straight up: full assassin regalia, recently polished sword, genuinely throwing his all into the battle.

The Batfam try to intervene but Damian easily (and painfully, as Jason was flipped face-first into a table, Steph was stabbed, Dick broke his elbow) fought off. In the end, it was Danny who froze Damian and yelped a frazzled, "What the fuck, dude?" Bruce agreed to dethaw his son if he never, ever drew his sword at the dinner table again and explained why in the world he randomly attacked Danny unprompted.

Except Damian's response is to apologize and formally proposition Danny to a "battle to rights"... and the Batfam are all like, wtf?? What is that?? They're thinking maybe the rights to the Wayne inheritance, but Danny was never adopted by Bruce (he'd had enough of millionaires trying to adopt him so he'd politely declined all the Batfam's attempts to rope him into the family; Dick, Babs, and Jason of all people included).

The thing is that Danny's parents disowned him, he doesn't consider Vlad to be his guardian, and Jazz isn't really in the picture here. Bruce isn't considered his adopted father figure, either. So, Damian concluded the next reasonable course of action was to fight Danny for his right to marry him.

Cue months of hilarious misunderstandings where the Batfam try to keep Damian separated from Danny since he keeps trying to fight him... and worse, is that Damian loses every damn fight. Danny has non-human powers and endless knowledge of dead languages, cultures, space, history, etc. Damian likes him so, so much but he can't win the battle to rights and it's driving him insane!! He calls his mother to vent his frustrations and she only encourages him, tells him that he shouldn't want to marry someone he can beat so easily, that he picked his intended well.

It gets to the point where Damian's trying to use any and all knowledge of Danny's weaknesses. It just makes him more obsessed because there doesn't seem to be any (there are, but they aren't on Earth and/or are locked down in the Fenton Works labs, untraceable to anyone not in the GIW).

And Danny's just like, what the hell!! Why the hell is this guy targeting him over and over again? The worst part is that Damian is actually very intelligent and thoughtful - during their duels, they quip back and forth in ancient languages, discuss thought-proving topics, and when Danny beats him, they have a quiet moment to compliment each other's fighting styles. They discuss ancient history and art together. Damian is one of the few people who can actually match Danny's odd tidbits of random knowledge, as he'd been extensively educated while in the LoA.

Finally, Danny just asks, "Why do you keep trying to fight me?? Do you just hate me or something??" (He hopes not. Danny's starting to like Damian a bit too much, especially after their fights when Damian offers to cook him some of Alfred's most popular recipes. Danny's a terrible cook so he actually looks forward to having a surprisingly good meal, sans the attempted poisoning at times.)

And Damian just... stops. He's utterly flabbergasted and perhaps a little bit exasperated since it's been months of being unable to win the battle to rights. "Why would I request to court you if I hate you, habibi?"

Danny's like, "Huh???"

Damian explains how courting works in the LoA and why it's been on-sight ever since the Clayface fight. And everything just clicks for Danny!! He's also kind of... flattered? Like, he's never been wanted so badly that someone would fight to the death for him (Danny's just like "he's confused but he's got the spirit!" about the whole "if Danny doesn't have a guardian, I'll just fight him instead" logic).

So, he's like, "Of course, I'll date you!!"

It'd probably be an adjustment period since Damian's idea of a romantic date is watching his boyfriend go Full Ghost on supervillains. He'd just be heart-eyeing at him the entire time. And it's not like Danny's not having a good time!! He just expected there'd be more date-night activities and less patrol-night activities. So, Danny introduces Damian to more "regular" hobbies, like going to the zoo, movie nights, bookshop dates, etc.

(another side idea in my head is Damian introducing Danny to Talia and Ra's al Ghul, like, "This is Danny Fenton, my intended." But Danny is decked out in his Ghost King attire, crown included, and introduces himself as King of Infinite Realms, Space, and the Dead. Meanwhile his boyfriend is just looking at him with this look of utter besotted lovesick pride. There's so much potential!!)

Hunger Games AU where Damian is a career who trained all his life for the games and Jon is from the agricultural district who got picked. They both meet during the games ceremony and start having feelings for each other, causing Damian to start questioning the legitimacy and purpose of the games.

I'm not into hunger games so I can only theorize so much based off the little out of context I've seen haha

but for sure, Damian being all serious and duty-bound and all that stuff, and at first thinks Jon is an absolute airhead. But then he just sees Jon's genuine joy in things and people, and his perspective from outside the capital really makes Damian have an almost culture shock that...things aren't all the same? Things don't just happen because perceived authority says so? That changes things. They should change things.

And to change things with Jon at his side? Well. That wouldn't be half bad, he thinks.

Imagine: two assassin kids, well one kid and a teen, meet along the way, both alike in their intention to get the fuck away from the League of Assasins, but really

They can't stand each other. Damian's inferiority complex towards Cass and Cass' lack of patience for the sheer arrogance that brat's projecting.

Despite all that professional assassin co duct requires politeness. As much as two obviously traumatised kids can manage without it sounding at times like very pompous words shoved into a tiny kid and a silent teen who can actually kill you but even then manages to hold an aura of edginess.

Awww these two certainly rub off each other like that.

And still, both work somehow together, to get against the League and not alert Batman (another point in their life that brought them together cause who need more stress from a phantom that may cross their own murder plans).

And along the merry way came Slade.

(now we have an actual adult supervising two kids and fuck now he's starting to miss his own even if dysfunctional family, is this purgatory and where's the actual functional adult oh batman-- shit did you just stab me? ah fuck.)

Remember an asshole is still an asshole so stab anyway.

5 Batfam

It's a long fucking night on patrol, and it's rare that it's all hands on deck these days, but here they are.

It's six in the morning, and they're strewn across the cave in various states of undress from their uniforms, masks and cowls and and helmets and capes dumped haphazardly around them.

"Why has the bleeding not stopped?" Tim asks, frustrated as he holds a second wash cloth to his nose.

"Because you got elbowed in the fucking face by Killer Crock," Jason points out, a pack of ice pressed to a very purple bruise just under his eye. "He broke your nose."

"You think that's bad," Steph chimes in as she limps over to them. "Cass got stabbed."

"It's fine," she calls. "I'm fine."

"Stabbed!" Stephanie cries again.

"Tt," Damian snorts. "That is nothing compared to the third degree burns Grayson got."

"I am also fine!" Dick calls. "Really, it's nothing."

"Just up and apply the ointment, burnt wonder," Barbara orders.

Duke chuckles as he gets ready for his morning patrol. "Burnt wonder. That's good."

"Right?" Dick agrees. "Babs is so good at those. It's so hot."

"Disgusting," Damian complains.

"I'm supposed to have a date tonight," Tim says. "If Bernard sees the way my nose a messed up, he's gonna freak."

"Just tell him I slammed a door in your face or something," Jason offers. "I'll be the bad guy for this one."

"Aw, brotherly love," Dick coos. "So nice."

"Fuck off, Big Bird," Jason replies.

"Where's Bruce?" Stephanie frowns.

"Skill chipped," Cass responds. "Alfred."

All of them "aahh" and "oooww" in acknowledgement.

"I'm fine!" Bruce calls.

"This family is weird," Dick comments.

Daminette December 2023: 31-Charades

The Waynes were in the living room by the fireplace, enjoying some hot chocolate and playing charades. It was Christmas and Superman had given them an early gift. He was watching over Gotham to give them a night off.

Marinette pretended to pick a slip of paper out of the bowl and placed it in the opposite bowl. She smiled at everyone. She held up her hand and put up two fingers.

"Two words." Stephanie called out.

Mari nodded. She then placed her hands on her hips and stood tall.

"Person!" shouted Jason.

"A name?" Tim questioned.

Mari shook her head. Marinette cradled her arms together and rocked them.

"Someone is rocking the boat?" Dick asked.

She shook her head again.

"A baby?" Damian questioned.

Marinette nodded and clapped her hands. She stood tall and motioned a round belly in front of her.

"Pregnant." Dick called out, "Someone is pregnant!"

Marinette nodded.

"Who is pregnant?" Tim whispered, "Do we know anyone who is pregnant?"

"Or were pregnant?" Barbara suggested.

Many of the Waynes looked confused and had gone into detective mode. They were no longer focusing on Marinette and were too busy trying to recall people they knew. Mari pouted, but Damian motioned for her to continue. She smiled, happily.

Marinette pointed to herself.

"I'm pregnant?" Damian questioned, getting everyone's attention.

Marinette smiled, "Yes, Damian. I'm pregant."

Everyone's jaw dropped. Damian stood up quickly.

"Are you pregnant or is this part of the game?" He questioned.

Marinette pulled out a pregnancy test, with a tiny bow attached to it.

"I'm actually pregnant." Marinette spoke, "I found out last week at the doctors, but I figured a test would be good proof."

Damian rushed over to his wife and looked at the tiny stick in her hand. There was a plus sign on it and next to it was labeled as pregnant.

"Really?" he whispered.

"Merry Christmas, Habibi." Marinette spoke, "You're a father."

Damian wrapped her up in his arms and kissed his wife's head. The Wayne started to shout and celebrate.

In Metropolis, Clark smiled at the dinner table.

"Are the Wayne having a good night off?" Lois asked.

"Yep." he answered, "I'm sure they will be calling us soon. It seems like I chose the best gift for today, after all."

Bruce Part 2

Ripple Effect Au

An AU of reverse robin where Damian is the oldest, and became a hero Gotham need. Tim is the second oldest that became the Grandmaster of Court of Owl. Jason in the middle and Dick the youngest. None of them became robin, except for Dick.This is the a parallel universe of reverse robin.

Bruce came back to Gotham at 24. He started to rehabilitate Gotham as Bruce Wayne. But when he realised that it is not what the city want, Batman was born. Batman did what Bruce Wayne couldn't. He strike fear into the heart of criminals and those who think they are above law. Because Batman doesn't discriminate.

Batman wasn't a hero. Every night, he toes the line of black and white. The criminals hates Batman. The gothamite aren't that fond either. But Batman did what no law enforcement could ever do in 20 years. He make the crime rate drop to a single digit each night. The Gothamites might not be an ally and friendly with the so called Vigilante Batman but they do respect his work when they realised Batman not only went after bad criminals but also Criminals sitting on a soft cushion chair up stair. Therefore, Batman became a constant in Gotham. However, Batman could never bring comfort to Gotham the way he wanted to. They do not trust him enough to let him comfort them nor do they associate him with sympathy.

Bruce was saddened by the fact, but he acknowledged it. When Gotham feared him, they do not need to fear other. Because Batman is protective. He's a protector. He'll bleed dry than let something harm Gotham. The people know that much.They trust him that much.

When Damian donned on a new moniker called, Cardinal, Bruce was brought to tears. Because Damian has achieved what he couldn't have as Batman. Cardinal brought comfort to the city that Batman couldn't. The people trusted Cardinal more than they trusted Batman. Gotham finally has a safety net to fall back on.

With Cardinal around, Batman has not to worry if the people are fairings after each night. Cardinal in a sense also brought comfort to Batman. And the people noticed that.

Cardinal became something that Gotham need.

As Batman, his role was to be a protector. As Bruce Wayne, his role was to rehabilitate Gotham. Gothamite knows Bruce Wayne is a airhead, clumsy bumble fool but they knows he cares.

The aristocrates might think Bruce is doing fruitless work, but the Gothamite were somewhat judgemental and thankful.

Why were they thankful? You aked?

Dear Damian

Dear Damian,

If you’re reading this, then this means the Guardianship has passed hands. I am no longer the Guardian of the box, and most likely I have been taken somewhere far away from you. I have tried for years to convince them that you can be trusted that if you know where the box could be and who had it would be fine. But they would not listen to me. So, here I sit, wondering where my future could have gone so wrong that I can not be with you. I plan to keep the box until I die.

But life has a way of not going the way we expected.

I never planned on this. I never planned on leaving you, and Bahija, and Bastian. You three are my reasons to live. My pride, my joy, my greatest and deepest love. To leave you behind I know will break all your hearts, but I have no choice.

You and your family gave me a home and a family when I lost mine. You helped me through my pain and brough me back from the brink. A brink even Adrien could not bring me back from. But you…you did. People call you cold, but I don’t think that’s right. You’re not ice, my love, you’re fire. You have a passion that I fell in love with, and that passion may make you do crazy things, but you never back down. You never refuse to claim your mistakes. And that’s what made me love you, ma moitié. That passion and fire.

I see it everyday in our children. Bahija and Bastian have that same spark, and it breaks my heart to no longer have them here with me. I love them so, so much. You have to tell them that Damian, if I cannot. I did everything to protect them. I want them to not wallow over me. I want them to live. I want them to love. Do not let them believe for one second I do not care about them. No matter what, memory or no, a mother never truly forgets. Tell them that I love them.

It breaks every piece of my soul to think that I will never hold you again, ma moitié. That I will never kiss your lips or hear your breath in the night when we sleep. To know that you have my back, and that in battle I will never have you there as my right-hand. I love you. And to not love you will be my great undoing.

When thinking of me, think of our last kiss. The one we thought would be like every other one. Was it fast? Slow? A goodbye kiss or a hello? I have no way of knowing, but surely you do. I never thought we would have a last one. But hold on to that moment. Never let it go.  Cherish it. Let that be the last memory of me, not this letter.

I wonder where you might be reading this. In our room? Gotham? Paris? Maybe even Eth Alth'eban? Where ever it is, don’t leave it. Don’t leave it to find me. This is the path I undertook the day I became the Guardian, and I don’t regret it. For years I have been blessed to be the keeper of the kwamis and the Miraculous, but now that time must come to an end. I am so very sorry that it has to be like this.

Do not let this harden your heart. Do not let this be your undoing as well as mine. I know you, perhaps better than you know yourself, and I know you have a tendency to let yourself get lost in pain. But you can’t do that. You can’t. Bahija and Bastian need you, ma moitié. Let yourself be happy, let yourself live.

And if you ever fall in love again, do not think you are betraying me. You can not betray me by doing what makes you happy. Let yourself love and be happy, let yourself be Damian Wayne. Not a widower, not a lost soul, not a victim.

I know that you will read this letter over and over again. Look for clues, hidden messages, but there are none. This letter is simply my final goodbye to you, and my final goodbye to Bastian and Bahija.

I love you. Forever and always. Even without my memory. Some part of me will always remember you – the way your skin felt, the sound of your voice, the love we had for each other. Even if my brain forgets, my body and heart will never forget you.

If we ever cross paths again, I know I will fall in love you all over again. There is simply no other option. For it’s you. It’s always been you that my string has been tied to.

Do not forget me. But do not forget to live either.

Hi, so I'm watching this series called Insatiable on Netflix and it's full of some crazy stuff but it's inspired an idea in me: How would yandere Damian Wayne react to the reader being in some sort of pool or something and after she comes out of it people are staring at her since her swimsuit is now visible and people are like 'damn she's hot' or 'wtf' and surprised lol

Okay so first off, you gotta have borderline magical manipulation tactics to get (Romantic!Aged-up!Yandere) Damian to agree to let you go swimming with someone who is not him. Damian doesn't like to share. He doesn't like to share his father's attention, he doesn't like to share the mantle as Robin, he doesn't like to share you! Especially not something that he thinks is as intimate as revealed skin, a sight that is only meant for him and him alone. So even getting him to let you see other people would be a miracle (and borderline important for a fully Yandere!Damian) but getting him to let you swim with other people? Nah, not gonna happen. Even non!yandere!Damian would be just a tad too jealous at the people goggling at you, but yandere!Damian would just up and take you away from there (if in some sort of miracle you got him to let you be there in the first place). If that were to happen he would probably forbid you from going to meet friends in general for a very long time, if not forever, especially alone, but he will make sure that the two of you will have your very own private pool, where it's only him that will be able to see you.

Also... it's surprising how it can happen that a group of unrelated people who were coincidentally at the same pool at the same time can suddenly all get serious injuries to their eyes.... Surprising indeed...
