guys HELP my dad has discovered next level headcanons he was listening to my chemical romance and decided that louis and lestat fucking LOVE mcr and play it all the time, while armand HATES mcr but is too afraid to say. which according to father dearest is the reason he got with daniel, so he can finally get out his bruce springsteen records again. i want you all to know that he told me this in an extremely matter of fact voice. the tumblr genes are so strong.

the results came back from his surgery! the masses they removed were precancerous, meaning they got them out before they would've become dangerous/he doesn't have to have any treatment! he will have to be tested every 6 months for a year and then once a year, as a precaution, though, but this is good!!!

this is the first big good news our family has had, and i'm so relieved. it feels like a weight has been lifted. here's to hoping that all future tests go well 🤞🏻

So will you sometimes be visiting your dad in his independent living home?

Already do and already have! I visit him at least once every other week. Most of the times when I visit it is just us hanging out, but I assist with laundry and shopping and cleaning, just anything he needs the extra assistance with.

The independent living has honestly worked out great so far. He's genuinely so much more active and happy than he was when he was at his old place. Way cleaner too, and his health is improving already!

At his old house you could tell it was a struggle for him to do anything but he seems so much more capable now, its night and day. I don't think it was just his physical health that was the problem, it was his mental health too. He needed to get out of there and now that he has he's flourishing!

There's still some small issues with the money, but my sister is handling it for now and it hasn't reached a breaking point like it did earlier in the year. So here's hoping we can just take that one day at the time and I don't have to ring the alarm bells again.

Thank you for checking in though! I'm just glad that I have good news to update with.

So it was my dad’s birthday the other day and he called me because. I’m his only kid and I forgot to call or text him on his fucking birthday. And anyway he wants me to see my grandparents on his side again, one of which whom I do not like (at all), and I got to thinking how much I could do to change myself even more before this happens.

They already haven’t seen me in person since I cut my hair 5 years ago so idk how they feel about that and I’m not sure how aware they are of anything else going on in my life. But wouldn’t it be funny if I showed up with the fire truck red hair I want and a couple new piercings? Man I really wouldn’t be their “good girl granddaughter” anymore.

Keep in mind these are the same grandparents who always compared me to my apparent “bad girl” cousin/counterpart just because we had a similar hobby in art lmao I never had my own life in their eyes (also that cousin and I got along like. well, nothing. We didn’t get along lmao)

My dad's lack of media comprehension serves as a fascinating litmus test for gay subtext. Father Update #3

We got Dad signed up for his new Independent Living home!

It's such a relief to know that we've got the place secured and the first month paid for. I can't thank you all enough for contributing, I would've been in a LOT more debt if you all hadn't been so completely generous.

While he's got the place secured we've just got to get a moving company set up to get what little stuff he owns from his current place to the new place (mostly his bed and TV we need help with, everything else is like clothes or food). But we can get that taken care of and fill out any other paperwork.

It's genuinely a weight off my shoulders to know he'll be in a place where he can be fed, social, and participate in the things he likes again. He's been isolated for the last couple years and I think this'll be a good change of pace for him.

I'll let you all know once he has moved in! But this also means I can change up the goals now and focus on mainly ensuring that we can keep him happy while there without me having to stress about bills and overworking myself.
