The problem with "oh but the animals consent to being farmed" is that it requires a mightily fucked up view of consent to work.

You cannot give consent when there is a signifact power imbalance. It's one of the reasons why pedophilia and quid pro quo harassment are both godawful and wrong.

Remembering something about Eddsworld since i came across your post where someone told you about the drama, there's something that needs to be said and it's about the fact how the team are hiding the fact that Edd dated a minor.

The reason it's not being talked about much is because the original document was done horribly that made it difficult for anyone to believe it's real (and because the person said it's "fake" even though the posts have been archived), another it's because people are justifying the relationship because "it was consensual" and that it's not that big of a deal because he's dead, even though obviously the guy won't face the consequences (because why a dead person should?). the thing is his friends, including his family will because they were supportive of it, supportive about the idea of an adult dating a minor as both Edd and Cal were open about it on social media before his death.

You can find the evidences on bluesky where an account "SweetJazzyGirl" posted about it where everything is screen-recorded as they have done so much researches to check whether it was true or not, even has everything like Cal's account and face CENSORED to respect their privacy considering it's implied they have been horribly harassed by the fandom after their relationship with Edd has been exposed which i assume many believed that Cal was trying to destroy his image, just a theory but not gonna be surprised if that was the case (another being victim blaming because Cal was denying that their relationship was wrong)

Unfortunately, there's a chance the post will get deleted because the account, SweetJazzyGirl wouldn't want to deal with harassment if it's been spread around on Twitter because here's the thing, people would rather defend a child groomer or even a criminal (though not saying Edd was one but his relationship with Cal was off..) than protect minors from them.
