Can I just say? I hate curved piecing so much.

Thankfully this is just a small lap quilt, and the curves turned out pretty good. Also, i had to be so utterly careful because I didn’t (and still don’t) have a proper template to cut with, just a little piece of paper that I traced onto some wibble board.

… i do not remember the name of the stuff, but it’s thick plastic that audibly wibble-wobbles when you fan it in the air. Easy to cut though.

Glacier Sunrise

I decided to explore a new color palette and the challenge of sewing curved pieces to create an abstract composition. I learned the technique of “braided curves” from noted quilt artist Maria Shell. Seeing the work of other quilters inspires experimentation! The improvisational nature of this technique allows many “what if?” and “aha!” and “uh-oh” moments that fuel the process, keep it playful, and still require disciplined attention.

Glacier ice is full of color: blue, green, gray, black, white. Beneath the surface are curving caverns carved by melting ice. Add the rays of morning sun over the expanse to see waves of color. This quilt offers an impression of the mysterious natural world on ice.

I tried quilting for the first time! It was super fun and I learned a lot. It's nowhere near perfect but I'm really proud of it!

Experimentation...sort of

So, I bought this QCR Mini curve ruler from Sew Kind of Wonderful” a long time ago. They, of course, had a really cute dog pattern that I liked. That is how you get Lori to buy an expensive ruler. Happy late Halloween!

I had no energy making this during spooky time but once christmas time hit.

Qite literally after midnight on the 31th, after taking a nap i suddenly got inspired.

I just wanted to see the twins with spooky jack’o lantern heads and cool coats inviting you into their ghost train.

They greet you like you reserved a first class seat, like of course you would come! You booked a ticket, didn‘t you?

And you just go along with it since they insist. The forest is so dark and dangerous at night, you must come inside!

The inside of the train is cozy and colourful and crazy beyond words.

Against all expectations you actually get home safe and sound and right on time as promised
