Going down comfort video-game lane, returning to Starbound and staring a new modded file for Effie! Instead of her starlight white, she's more of a sunny colored Novakid with accents of blue. (Color variation from the Vibrant Novakids mod)
But she's still your adventuring southern belle with a whole bunch of voice logs on her SAIL!
I'm still rather early came in her file, but she's gotten one Fenerox companion named Bex and completed the intro quest for Captain Noble.

(Previous post - current page 433)

Time to see what these Satyrs are about--
We're drawing it out for appropriate drama here, I see.
(Whoa, Terezi's saliva is TEAL?!? Interesting. That's a fact that I will absolutely file away in my mind to remember forever for definitely no specific reason whatsoever.)
==>
T4ST3S L1K3 HORS3SH1T.
Oh nooooo!! Don't tell me they're disappointing! (Or perhaps even a red herring, and not even successfully the race that ends up playing the game as they'd planned??) ...Let's hope it's just Pyrope's opinion...
(I highly doubt it, but imagine if Rose successfully created a race of motherfucking Squiddles to throw against Dirk in the contest.)
==>
OH DAMMIT THEY'RE HOLDING OUT ON US!!! Dastards!
TT: I heard that. GC: OH MY GOD 1 DON'T C4R3 TT: I can smell what you smell. Taste what you taste. Nothing you do is unknown to me, really.
Ewww, dammit. Stop trying to outdo Doc Scratch in creepiness, Ultimate Dork.
TT: Speaking of, if you think I'm not wise to your subtle little scheme, think again. GC: WOW K1NG, YOU 4R3 SO POW3RFUL, HOW D1D H3 T4ST3? TT: Pretty bland. GC: OH? TH3N HOW 4BOUT-
WHOA WAIT, what the heck are they talking about?!? Terezi has a scheme, and it's a "him"?? Or Dirk THINKS it's a "him"?
Hmmm... I originally thought this was a scheme about reawakening Rose to awareness or temporarily freeing him from Dirk's control to see what he'd done to her, just because that's the obvious Seer of Mind subterfuge that would have been going on here, but... Terezi's scheme possibly involves CREATING someone?
"HOW D1D H3 T4ST3"? Who?! Was "H3" being hidden in the now-empty "Terezi's weird horse shaped bug snacks" jar?
Did Dirk really bring John's cryo'd dead body here (I thought she'd brought it in the wallet, I forget, he was clearly hiding something he tried to keep Terezi from remembering when she smelled it), Terezi discovered it again, and then Terezi might be possibly using the life-creation machine or assembling robotics to make a new body for the Meat timeline's JOHN to come back??? Was the comeback to "HOW D1D H3 T4ST3" about to be "OH? TH3N HOW 4BOUT H3R" because she'd be brought back as June???? ...No, that feels too early, not something they'd be talking about so casually... is it?
It's more likely that Terezi is responsible for trying to create the Carapacian race to throw into the mix if we're going for the session that seeded all other sessions, right, something she'd have made to throw in to Rose and Dirk's 'duel' to screw with the session or give it a scale's balance? Carapacians would be extremely "bland" to Dirk, right? They're practically designed to be!
For some reason, though, Dirk potentially calling the concept of a returned John "bland" feels really on-point though... John was always a character who could be mistaken for a generic reader-projection protagonist but whose personality and talents really shined through his effects in conversation with others which made conversations where John was involved some of the most entertaining in all of Homestuck. Dirk would ALWAYS underestimate that sort of protagonist, an Heir always following the whims and Directions given to him by others, who sparks subtle change and inspiration in others not purely for his own sake but by hardly even trying and just kidding around with them or believing in them.
Let me stop with the wild baseless speculation and get to the rest of this conversation to see if it's clarified in only a couple of lines.
TT: You're wearing the more sensible outfit I alchemized for you. TT: That tastes like victory. GC: NOT B3C4US3 YOU M4D3 1T FOR M3 GC: 1 L1K3D MY OLD OUTF1T F1N3, 1 L1K3D TH3 COLORS GC: HON3STLY, 1 THOUGHT TH1S W4S 4 JOK3 GC: 3V3NTU4LLY TH3 OUTF1T P1L3 JUST K33PS G3TT1NG SM4LL3R, UNT1L F1N4LLY... GC: JOK3S OV3R
Dammit, he's put her in Lil Cal suspenders!!! Asshole.
I do notice, yet again, the red heels still much like the ones she borrowed from the Witch of Space Jade though-- which when she wore them back in original Homestuck after Game Over, signified a Witch of Heart balance that she used to force John's character back on the right track and perform her final acts of that timeline to arrange a course correction to reverse Vriska's death and save causality. Or at least, that's what I interpreted at the time-- hints at her inverse role and how she both employed it a bit to shout John back into control of his true self and to represent a final balance to achieve the heights of her Seer of Mind role with her whole-timeline-spanning retcon assistance. To ascend, one must first descend, and all that Jungian such.
TT: You looked like shit. GC: 4 TRULY BOLD ST4T3M3NT FOR SOM3ON3 CURR3NTLY DR3SS3D L1K3 4 L1TTL3 L4D W1TH 4N 4N1M3 C4P3 TT: I'm not dressed like a little lad. Terezi really tearing him down modern-weeb-mockery style for his candy-ass outfit, damn.
TT: I don't have the time to tell you how wrong you are about this, but I will. GC: 1 GU3SS T1M3 1S MOR3 YOUR BROTH3R'S TH1NG, 1SN'T 1T? GC: >:? GC: 1 WOND3R WH4T H3'S DO1NG R1GHT NOW
Does Terezi know that bringing up Dave perhaps really bothers him? Dirk definitely doesn't NOT care about Dave. He wants to get his way at almost all costs, but I don't think he wants Strider's life to be one of those costs, even though Dave is on his way here to oppose him.
==>
Heheheh, the way that all filled in and she sniped right back against his narrative powers was really fun. I love how she can at least MOSTLY resist his narrative powers-- possibly even more than he thinks she can, the way he believes (and we believed) he successfully directed her away from that mystery hidden on their ship way earlier. That reminds me, Terezi kept talking about this earlier as an INVESTIGATION. Is she trying to figure out what Dirk is up to? Are her creations or whatever he deemed "bland" part of her "subtle little scheme" to figure things out somehow, not just interfere with what she already knows to be true?
Also, the way Dirk uses the word "unascended" here implies the key difference is "not God-Tier", that a God-Tier Seer of Mind might have had the ability to possibly not just see further but RESIST Dirk's control even more, which would make plenty of sense. If there exists any sort of Mind aspect Quest Crypt in the new session Dirk and Rose are trying to create, perhaps ascension is a tactic she can actually take? In fact--
KARKAT is coming along too, and we still don't know if his blood caste has a lifespan issue that would cut his relationship with Dave Strider a lot shorter than they want. Could a BLOOD Quest Crypt for Karkat's use end up in this new session too? A Space crypt is obligatory as well, just about ANY session would have a Space player and Kanaya could hijack that crypt to ascend... Could the new session be an opportunity for the remaining trolls to go God-Tier, allowing the readers to finally see some magic Blood powers in action once and for all instead of the normal Knight of Blood talents latent in his personality (which have still had a major impact on the plot, to be sure)?
In Kanaya's case... that also makes it seem likely that as a seamstress and a god-tier Sylph of Space, she could MEND THE HOLE IN EXISTENCE that the Black Hole's creation punched through, cycling an emptied-out Paradox Space right back to its very creation and sealing the escapees of the Black Hole outside of Paradox Space, free from Lord English forever:
UU: it is the day whereafter the legendary octet of mUtUal progenitoriety will come together and heal a great breach in paradox space.
But enough about that for now. It looks like Terezi is leveraging the PERSONALITY part of her Seer of Mind powers potentially successfully on Dirk: Taunting and provoking and annoying him into doing what he wants her to do, and potentially switching the narrative over to show us more Dave.
T3LL M3.
Dirk Strider you ass!!!!!
Also yeah we're STILL not gonna see what his Satyrs look like after all, not for a little while. Or if they'll end up being a red herring and not being the main participants of the session at all.
OH AND ALSO I FORGOT TO BRING UP SOMETHING IMPORTANT-- one of the creations these folks might be responsible for if this is the sort of Omega Session that creates the framework of Sburb and all other sessions might be the Denizens, too. I should keep an eye out for that potentiality.
==>
TEREZI: H3H3H3 TEREZI: D1D YOU S33 TH4T? TEREZI: NOBODY WR1T3S MY STORY BUT M3
Oh my god NOOOO I'D FORGOTTEN CAUSE IT'D BEEN SO LONG, TEREZI'S BEEN HAVING THESE CONVERSATIONS WITH THE DEAD JOHN CORPSE STORED IN THE WALLET AAAAAAH THAT'S SO SAD D': D': D':
...and since the corpse is still in her hands, REALLY raises the chance that she's trying to revive him, that the John in her wallet is the "subtle little scheme" that Dirk is alluding to, and why she immediately responded with "how did he taste" and he responded bland. That's suddenly the most plausible explanation for all of this.
Could she be... planning on ectobiologizing... a kid with him...? No, no fucking way, she's not THAT crazy about him is she?
Also that's a banger fucking declaration of a line at the end there from Terezi against all of Dirk's narrative horseshit, I love that for her.
==>
TEREZI: 4ND TH1S T1M3 1'LL G3T 1T R1GHT
John's corpse is just IN there still, isn't it? No cryo or preservation or anything, right? That's unsettling. It's been or going to have been a full year of travel and arrival here or more, right, before she can do something with it? I forget the exact timeline. Pretty in-character for the morbid Terezi to be this audibly familiar with and carry around a corpse, though.
...do God-Tier corpses not decay at all? I remember a joke about that being in ONE recent bonus HS^2 joke panel I got notified in my Patreon about and glanced at without thinking about it, showing [SPOILER]young alt!Callie-possessed Jade's corpse[/SPOILER] as if her spirit suddenly left it temporarily, though I'm trying my best not to think about what it means.
I have to go to bed early for something in the morning, we didn't get as far as I wanted but I'll take a break for now and will probably continue sometime in the next two days. Next time we'll hit the next link for Meanwhile...

This is my Miku pokemon trainer tier list
For this tier list its both my favorites and what i consider a very good miku design
Of course all of them are good miku designs but some shine above the rest
S tier- my absolute favorites Bug miku is so classy, so well thought out, and i think the brown looks amazing with her teal. Shes everything A close tie with bug miku is Ice miku her hair is everything to me im in complete love with this sharp miku. Water Miku is basic but that's all she needs in lovely simplicity, truly feeling like Miku in this world as a water trainer especially with her tan lines from her original outfit it feels like this is her off time from being an idol! Steel Miku had my heart as soon as I saw her with Jirachi. Which was my favorite pokemon when I was a child [it was prior before i even had any pokemon games of my own and only watched the movies] The colors, the motif of star, the hat and the hair its all wonderful to me!
A tier- Amazingly done concepts and totally miku! Rock Miku's dress and veil is lovely, i love they incorporated the veil as mock pigtails. If this was the verison of her without the dress then she would have been in S tier. I love the jester look but thats my own personal preference. She also reminds me of diance with the dress.
Flying Miku is gorgeous, the wispy hair, the translucent areas to mimic clouds and mist. It's an amazing concept and wonderfully executed design! Fairy miku i know is everyones favorite and it's obvious to see why, shes adorable and cute and I too would love to draw her. She has that appeal to her down to a T. Fighting Miku is something i've been waiting for this whole time. Of course no way they could do a pokemon collab with miku and not include farfetch'd! It's a sleek and simple design that takes traits of the original miku's outfit and tweaks them. Though she does kind of remind me of maka from soul eater just a small bit.
B tier- Great concepts! Electric Miku's lightening pigtails are so cute she looks like a little adventure/farmer of currents. She stands on her own as a design and as a tie to miku. Poison type Miku i would have done the same doing mucky/slime twintails though i probably wouldn't have thought to use the new alolan muk which is a very good look and helps add in the colors. It's a great design and while i wouldve put her in A tier some of her design elements hold me off. This is a top tier character design though trust me Dark Miku, i love she came with obstagoon. Though at first i couldnt even tell if miku had pigtails in the artwork. This reminds me just of a nice miku for a cover of an existing song which is not bad it's just how it feels. Normal type miku has good colors, shes paired with an active singing pokemon and while it's simple I think it conveys miku well enough. Though she keeps reminding me of the oversaturated stereotype of early 90s fashion. now on Ghost miku, shes higher than i'd actually put her but for her concept and simplicity of staying to miku but as a glitched out ghost version of her i do have to give props to that even if i find it more on the plain side. I think they succeeded in what was necessary even though this portrays miku AS the ghost instead of just a ghost trainer. ....honestly now that i type my words i feel like i was right and shouldve stuck with her in C tier.
C tier- too basic for my tastes yet still well done Grass miku is cute and all but if you told me she was unrelated to miku, i could believe you. Just that it'd be a fandom joke to call her 'green miku'
Fire miku, reminds me all too much of the anniversary miku song and im sure thats where they got part of the insipration from it but it doesnt really do much for me combined with the fire aspect and how her hair is shaped. I know its to mimic the pokemon shes with its just personal taste on that one. The silhoutte is good.
Ground type miku i had to keep looking up because i forget what shes supposed to be numerous times. Same case with grass miku, i could see someone telling me shes from x thing and unrelated to miku. I'm just not a fan of the design and colors but it's well done. I know when something is just my subjective taste rather than poorly done.
Dragon miku while i'm not the biggest fan of all the cowlicks going down the twintails i know it's purpose is there to mimic the spiked tail of a traditional dragon and i wouldn't want them removed. I think i especially just don't like the tacked on half shawl cape it feels disjointed. Yet i find its a nice concept they did both an almost knight look for her as dragon as always with the concept of knights and dragons battling. Now the knight trainer is battling with the dragon as comrades.
Psychic type miku- i think they started with the least interesting and noteworthy one honestly. It just looks, kind of uninspired but thats rude to say. I know shes here to fufill the concept of miku as a trainer in pokemon and well it just looks like she's her own trainer class that'd have multiple running around looking the same instead of a stand out like a rival or a gym leader in game.

So, what do you think of the new game made by the producers of RAIN CODE and Danganronpa that will be released early next year?
Oh, you're talking about The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy? Honestly, I don't really know what I expect from this game. The mechanics are tactical RPG, right? Turn-based battles... I'm not a big fan of this style of game. (Also because I'm terrible at them)
Maybe what will please me is the story, like, 15 students defending a school for 100 days, and multiple endings you can get, Not to mention that the thing about you spending time with other characters will apply to relationship purposes? Maybe you'll be able to get more benefit in battles with allies formed through friendship? Well, I found it interesting, some of the character designs are beautiful, and I LOVED The battle uniforms, especially the male characters.
The female's uniforms are, okay, I'm used to this style, but look at the male's ones, they're really nice! It seems like they all look good dressed like that.
I choose Kurumi and Makoto for this, because it's a saga of mine to dress Kurumi in different uniforms from other games, and Makoto is my current obsession. (With Yuma, of course)
I tried to represent it well, so sorry if it didn't turn out very well.
Here they are individually.
As I said before, the male uniform is very nice, I thought it looked really good on Makoto, Or maybe he looks good in any outfit? Kurumi is still cute in any uniform I make for her, have you noticed that? I swear I'm kind of proud of the result, even though it might not be the best representation. Do you think they would survive this game?
You'll really remember me as "the person who loved making crossover and AUs"
Here are some extras to show the references I used for this, in addition to using easypose to assemble the poses, and using a background that is a print from the trailer.
Well, my opinion about Last Defense Academy is that I'm not a fan of the turn-based system, but the story and the characters in their interactions can be interesting, it even has a Danganronpa vibe. If someone from my country plays this game when it comes out, I'll probably watch the episodes until the end, I don't know if they'll make all the endings, however many this game will have.
Oh, is it Kurumi's birthday? Happy birthday my dear!
I already posted on Sunday, but I wanted to leave this here today because of her birthday and she's my favorite, so. 🩷🌸 (In my country it's her birthday today)
Here are some extras for her reference, I made her still wearing the uniform in this post to make sense.
The post is not only about her, but I wanted to include this as well, just to take advantage. :3
I was out of creativity for flowers.
Did she look good in black?

DAI Companion Styles: Sera
Dragon Age Companion Styles series
The fashion in the Dragon Age universe (in keeping with the overall aesthetics of the games) has undergone an interesting kind of evolution over the course of the three games, various side media, and fourteen real-world years this franchise has been around. And disjointed as some of it may be, it’s something that interests me, both in terms of its real-world influences and in terms of the in-universe implications for worldbuilding and characters. It’s an element for which I would love to see even more discussion and analysis, I thought it would be fun to dive into it by taking a look at the different base outfits companions wear in Inquisition, and talking about how they fit with the characters and the world they inhabit. I don't know how many of these I will end up doing, but I'd like to do some and I think it will be fun.
Disclaimer: I am not a fashion expert, dress historian, or professional designer! I'm just a gamer who likes to sew and has a casual interest in historical fashion, and a great interest in fantasy worldbuilding and the implications thereof, and that's where I'm coming from on these posts. I'd also love to hear thoughts from fans who have a more in-depth background in historical dress, textiles, etc. Also I'm going to be talking about clothing and not armor because I know a lot less about armor.
I’m going to start with Sera, of course, because it's me. ;)
So I've mentioned before that I really like the concept of Sera's outfit. The upper silhouette in particular seems directly drawn from the Fereldan commoner fashions of Dragon Age: Origins, the styles of Sera's youth in Denerim. For example, here's Kaitlyn in Origins, wearing some typical commoner clothing:
Note the plaid, the bare shoulders, the underarm straps (which have always looked incredibly uncomfortable to me)! We see several variations on this style in Origins, including leather vests and even some floral fabrics, but the off-the-shoulder look is nearly ubiquitous on commoner women:
Noble-born women in Origins seem to forego the cold shoulders, but we still see similar shapes in the upper silhouette, including those dang shoulder straps that go under the arms:
The commoner styles of Ferelden in 9:30 Dragon even reappear a decade later in Inquisition! Which doesn’t surprise me much, as trends move a lot more slowly for rural commoners than for wealthy aristocrats.
We even have the weird leather neckerchief thing, a staple of the early 9:30s in Ferelden (and convenient way to hide the neck seams on those character models)! Like the collars in Origins, Sera's does not tie at the back, and a close-up view of hers reveals side seams and presumably a closure of some sort.
So let’s talk about the breeches!
I'm going to call these "breeches" both because it's a word Sera uses and it's what I think they most closely resemble, especially given that they end below the knee but do not extend to the ankle. (Trousers or pants would be full-length.) First of all, it's notable that Sera is wearing breeches because it's a break with the Fereldan silhouettes we saw above, which are pretty universally long straight skirts hitting about mid-calf.
The waist of Sera's breeches is covered by her tunic, but I would guess that they might close with lacing (which can be seen on some of the Inquisitor’s Skyhold outfits) or a buttoned fall (a front panel with buttons on each side, which I think I've seen in some Orlesian noble concept art).
My guess is that Sera's breeches are newer than her tunic, because of the slim cut; they more closely resemble the Orlesian men's fashions of the present in Inquisition than the sort of looser trousers we see in Ferelden circa 9:31 Dragon. Going by the plaid alone I would have called them Fereldan, but based on the cut I have to call these breeches Orlesian, and possibly a more recent acquisition for Sera. While plaideweave does not appear to be currently on trend in Inquisition, Val Royeaux is a center of high fashion and constantly-changing trends among the upper classes and I don't have trouble believing that plaideweave might have been fashionable sometime in the years Sera has lived there.
A detail I love about these breeches is that they are cut on the bias! Synthetic elastic fabrics and machine-knits don't exist in the non-industrialized south of Thedas so far as we know, but woven fabrics have a bit of stretch and give when cut diagonally across the weave, and this would be appropriate for a pair of snug-fitting woven breeches, for someone of means. (They would have been expensive, because diagonally into a bolt of cloth means you need more fabric to start with.) We also see plenty of wrinkles and bunches in Sera's breeches, especially where her knees bend, demonstrating that this isn't a perfectly smooth, skintight fabric like a pair of synthetic leggings.
Notably, Sera's breeches have been patched—and patched skillfully, using the same fabric and with perfect pattern-matching. I think the patching had to have been done by a previous owner; Sera might have the skill (she does mention sewing in her journal), but she likely wouldn't have had access to a matching fabric or the patience or desire to pattern-match. This suggests to me that these breeches were owned by someone of lesser means; a noble would not wear visibly-patched clothing however skillfully done, but based on the bright colors I think this garment could have belonged to a noble at one point, before being cast aside. The servants we see in the Winter Palace wear neutral, muted colors in order to draw little attention, so I don't think this is part of a servant's uniform, but it could have been worn by a servant on their off time or by a member of their family. My guess is that these breeches were a once-fashionable garment, discarded by their high-class owner and taken by someone in their employ (maybe even their own tailor, who might still have access to scraps of the original fabric) to be repaired and reused by themselves or a friend or family member. I judge the large, visible stitching on both the patches and the side seams to have been added later, likely by Sera herself when the original stitching began to give out, further extending the life of this garment.
So, the breeches are great. We love the breeches.
I do have some issues with the tunic, but let's start with what's good about it.
I've already mentioned how it's consistent with Fereldan fashions a decade out of date. Based on the style and the fabric, I would say this garment was originally owned by someone in Ferelden of decent but not extravagant means, and Sera either stole it outright or swiped it from a rubbish heap. The wear on the tunic is consistent with its age: it's much more visibly tattered and falling apart than the breeches. However its construction also appears high-quality to me. If we look at the large tatters, we aren't seeing Sera's skin through them, and at the cuff where Sera has rolled up one sleeve we see the same contrasting fabric as the shoulder straps and trim. This tunic has a lining, and this also explains how it's still holding together on Sera's body with so much damage to its outer layer. The asymmetry at the bottom is jagged in a way that suggests part of it was torn off, rather than the garment being intentionally constructed that way.
My big problem with the tunic is its tightness and drape. This is a woven fabric (Highever Weave), and we can see the directionality of the weave very clearly because of the tatters; this garment was not cut on the bias. Even with the spiral-laced closure (love that they used spiral lacing instead of cross-lacing, by the way, just because it's a form of historical lacing that's often overlooked in media), this garment simply would not hang on Sera's figure the way it does in the game. (To be fair, neither would some of the Origins tunics. I have no idea what those are doing.) The form-fitting cut overall just doesn't make sense for a woven fabric, and it doesn't drape like one either—something that I'm sure has frustrated many a cosplayer trying to make this tunic with a comparable material. Without some stretch in the fabric, it's not happening. Even a moderately looser cut would make a lot more sense—compare with how Varric's tunic of the same weave hangs on him. Bottom line, Sera's tunic fits and drapes like a modern machine-knit, and if I wanted to make a cosplay that actually creates the same silhouette, that's what I'd use. Though personally I'd probably discard the silhouette and try to make something with a woven fabric that simply fits more realistically, and if I were to redesign Sera's base look, this is the one change I'd make.
The shape of the tunic is what really gives away the contemporary influence on Sera's outfit design. Leggings and skinny jeans came into fashion in a big way in the mid-2000s, often paired with a longer drapey top, and they hung on through the mid-2010s when Dragon Age: Inquisition was released, and were an obvious influence on the design of all the female companions as well as the female Inquisitor armor styles. Cold-shoulder tops were also a popular trend in the early 2010s. (I guess Dragon Age: Origins was on the cutting edge there.) Asymmetry and shredded clothing were also 2010s trends.
I also want to take a moment to look at Sera's shoes! Her base outfit includes what appears to be some kind of black slip-on shoe. These shoes are interesting to me because I think that like the breeches, they might be men's shoes. There's a similarity to the shoes in this concept art:
I think this is pretty neat because while the real-world influences on Sera's look can be clearly tied to trends in women's fashion, in-universe her clothing is probably two-thirds menswear. I think that's pretty cool and maybe something to consider with regard to Sera's personal gender presentation as a lesbian in the context of the society she lives in.
I suspect Sera's shoes to be a bit older and out of fashion, since they bear a distinctly rounded toe and the Orlesian high fashion of the moment favors a pointed toe. Like the rest of her clothing, I would guess the shoes to be salvaged or stolen.
So overall, despite a few quibbles, I think Sera's base style is pretty great and very appropriate to her character. Her look is proudly lower-class in a highly-stratified society, visibly Fereldan while living in the Orlesian capital, and gender-non-conforming amidst a highly-gendered aristocratic culture.
It's pretty cool! I like it a lot.

Heathers Part 4: Rogue Heather and Conclusion
Part 3
This is my favourite option, which is why I saved it for last. This route focuses on skills Heather could much more believably pick up on her own—in fact, these are skills we already see her exhibiting in RoB. This version of Heather is very much like Arya Stark—minus the combat training—specifically, Arya when she’s in Braavos. She’s good at hiding, sneaking around, pickpocketing, etc. She would rely on changing her behaviour and appearance to fit the situation and slowly build her arsenal of disguises as she improves her skill and has more resources at her disposal. One day, she might appear as a raggedy street urchin; the next, a bawdy barmaid; then, a haughty noblewoman or cunning hunter.
Her primary use of this skill would be survival—blending into the background or standing out without people knowing her true identity—but this would also be strategic. She could get information either from being a fly on the wall no one considers being cautious around, or by being charismatic and charming people into trusting her. In more extreme situations, she could slip poison into the drink of a bar patron, set fire to the room of someone who thinks she’s their servant, or (in a version of RTTE with a more mature rating) stab someone once they’re in her bed. (I’ve written a fic about this)
I think this option makes the most sense, because it requires no retconning of her backstory and includes the most believable skillset for someone without any training. I also think that with a heavy focus on stealth, it wouldn’t make sense for her to have a large, armoured dragon with reflective scales (once again, sorry Windshear). Instead she could have a small dragon that could help her with fetching things, being on watch for danger, and shooting fire at close range. I’m thinking a Terrible Terror or something similar. Although a small dragon with similar traits to a Changewing would be really cool, like a winged chameleon of sorts—but maybe instead of becoming invisible, it just mimics different colours and textures.
In terms of costumes for Rogue Heather, it can really be anything. She’d probably need a base outfit for when she’s not in disguise, in which case, I’d go for something like the redesigns all the dragon riders except Hiccup got, which was basically putting them in the same clothes as in RoB/DoB but with different colours. I think the outfit Heather’s wearing in RoB is pretty good for a rogue type character already—just use a slightly different colour scheme that’s still faded, and keep the hood from her current design. Her disguises could be much more dramatic and could include wigs and makeup as well.
I have a headcanon that she has a favourite disguise though. Due to all the danger and insecurity she’s faced, she’s become ruthlessly ambitious—not just for revenge, but for wealth and power. She never wants to have to worry about being unsafe or scrounging around to survive. I think her favourite roles to play are rich and powerful women. In these roles, she gets to wear something beautiful—I’m thinking a deep green gown that brings out her eyes. It could also be a reference to serpents and envy, which goes hand in hand with her use of poison and her desire for the finer things in life.
I love this version of Heather. I’m currently in the early stages of writing a very long fic (that will probably just include regular Heather because the story already has a lot of OCs and moving parts), however, if I get enough inspiration, I might write some one-shots here and there about her.
Some ideas for her more fancy/aspirational disguises:
From left to right: Labyrinth (2012), BBC’s Merlin (I always thought Katie McGrath would be a great grown-up Heather)
(Some more historical Norse looks)
And a more everyday look:
(From Voriagh)...tell me this model isn't LITERALLY HEATHER. I think it's the murder in her eyes.
(Arya in Game of Thrones, tunics from Dark Knight Armoury)
Conclusion...After a Note About Combat and Women in Fantasy
Before I finish, I want to briefly touch upon another issue I have with Heather’s character. You may have noticed that the latter two options I gave have a much stronger emphasis on her intelligence and/or social skills than her physical prowess – I did this intentionally because I find that RTTE lacks characters who are not combat focused (Even Johann turned out to be a skilled knife-thrower. I miss when he was just a friendly and knowledgable—though talkative—merchant). While I appreciate that the female characters in the show are shown to be capable fighters, they don’t all need to be. I think fantasy and sci-fi writers tend to forget that making women into combatants is not the only way to make them strong, empowered, or interesting. There are so many ways that characters, regardless of gender, can have agency and be integral to a plot; these ways don’t have to include putting a heavy weapon in their hands. I’ve briefly discussed this in another post, but I think the dynamic between Viggo and Ryker would be much more interesting if Viggo were not physically strong and had to depend on Ryker’s strength just as much as Ryker depended on Viggo’s wits. And while Hiccup’s sword fighting abilities are commendable, let’s not forget that his first great achievement would never have been possible without curiosity, intelligence and empathy—the three things required to befriend Toothless—not physical strength. I love Race to the Edge, and I understand the combat-heavy focus (because “Vikings”) but I do wish there was just a bit more variety when it comes to the way characters navigate dangerous situations.
Alright, so there you have it: My 3 Heathers. I’m very tempted to draw all three of them, to get a clearer image of what their designs would look like. Which one do you prefer the most? The revenge-fuelled warrior, the unhinged alchemist, or the ambitious assassin? Let me know, and thanks for reading!

Thinking of memories.
I thought I would make a really long trivia post of funny moments we had in JP as well as some of Aoki Tact's post EoS stream tidbits
When SINo first launched the game was nearly unplayable for over a week. Checking the status of the maint gave you a funny indefinite message.
There were originally two colo matches per day but this was discarded almost immediately for obvious issues.
Yoko Taro oversaw and wrote for main story to the very end with the help of two cowriters at Pokelabo
Pokelabo did the writing for everything else [Weapon stories, event stories and job stories] Despite her files not being in the game to datamine Rapunzel's design was leaked mysteriously thus she was released slightly sooner into second anniversary than intended.
Akazukin's sin jobs always gave away which character would be that sins giant raid [with the exception of Proud Lion where she talks about Alice but it was Pino who had that giant raid]
Yoko Taro wrote the very end of the game before anything else.
The desire mass in the finale and Gishanki are Taro's favorite characters. Yoko Taro also really likes Dorothy, and she is Aoki Tact's favorite character as well.
There was a very negative balance gem debt when the first run of the CG collab first came to JP. Akazukin originally had a different VA until shortly after first anniversary. All her lines were removed and replaced to the current one. To commemorate we were given Akazukin Mage for free in an upcoming event medal grind shop.
There was once a bug early in the game where the characters were dissembled on your home screen and their body parts would move really fast all over the place.
Hameln launch was a bit of a mess and also had a funny bug where he would have random characters' lines and voices on home instead of his.
It was purged off official accounts for no reason given but there was a live action short film of Reality Alice finding the Library. Fan re-uploads exist though.
The pose Alice makes in the Act of SINo ending PV is the front view of when you win your first colo match
Himiko (manga artist) and KitaEri (Cindy VA) made U32 a few times.
To add KitaEri and MAO were the most reappearing VAs on streams. KitaEri really enjoyed SINo as well as playing it. Of all the VAs, Tomoaki Maeno was the only one to not be on a stream in person though he did leave a video message for Hameln's debut stream.
Reality characters are designed when they make a new Library character [though they make changes sometimes, off the top of my head they mentioned Rapunzel drastically changed]
Some reality characters have official names and ages [mentioned here in other posts]
Some fun trivia from Aoki Tact's post eos streams:
Sin mages were considered at some point but the idea was discarded.
Mage designs were meant to resemble medieval Europe outfits but they tried a bridal look on Snow and fell in love so it was kept.
Momotaro was planned to be an actual SINo since they wanted more males and more Japan folklore characters period but they had issues catching later additions up as is so they stuck him as an NPC. Peter Pan had too much issues legally to be added.
To add Pokelabo had an entire legal team and list of fairytales they could potentially add.
Jino was only given one sentence of what to come up with for character designs so he spent a lot of time in libraries with headphones to capture little details in their design.
To add he once said he originally thought reality Gretel was in his 30s but this was misunderstood by fans. He was always meant to be age he is now. Jino also struggled a bit designing reality Akazukin, her original draft had her in a red raincoat. He also had issues making Hameln's reality design since his suits already had modern feels to them silhouette wise and wanted to make his silhouette stand out.
Aoki started his 'fan movie' since nearly the start of the game as a secret little project. Some of the models he made low-key were used in promo pvs (Act of Fusion PV and Cinderella having a cameo in the Death Metal video)
The shape and location for characters life force is important details for both Library and Reality.
A lot of discussions happened after the final Act of SINo chapters on JP sns, all he can say is Aladdin and Hameln are important to each other but their relationship is open to interpretation of the players. [Hameln's concept can mean Boys Love in Chinese as well though I think it's an accidental innuendo than anything linguistically speaking] Getting the movie officially released overseas is likely not possible. 'On the subject on another complete art book' there is no budget anymore and certain rights has expired that gives artists the right to share the work they've done for the game. In short making another art book is not possible.
The finale to the game took a majority of the games budget to make. Gishanki had voice actors in the film but it was a computer program thay made their voices for the game, so they don't have voice actors in the game. Aoki Tact says the characters we know in the game, and in the manga, and in the light novel are all 'different characters' as in he considers them completely different from the characters they are based off of and are separated canons.
This is already long so here's some trivia for now. I'll make a part 2 eventually. This is all based on memory seeing it in real-time, reading Famitsu interviews and watching Aoki Tact's streams which are very chill and interesting and talks a lot about game development so I recommend checking out his channel here.

for the OC ask game!
🧊 - Is their current design the first one?
Thanks for the ask, anon! (From this OC ask game)
🧊 - Is their current design the first one?
Lexi - Nope. Originally she had glasses and her hair was longer. She was also fully white instead of having the equivalent of a mixed Native American + European background. She's somehow looped back around to having her hair in a braided style like it was originally since her hairstyle changed like six times. Her original incarnation wore a dress while Lexi isn't much of a dress person.
Maddie - Since she's Lexi's sister she went through similar changes. Her hair was also much shorter (it's super long now), I gave her braces, and now she wears overalls.
Ash - Used to have hair as long as Maddie's, now it starts the series super short. Her freckles have stayed. She used to have dark brown hair with auburn tints but now it's black. Her eyes were blue-green but now they're just green.
Gwen - Hair is darker and I gave her glasses. Otherwise she's the same.
Noelle - Made her like a foot taller. Other than that, she's the same.
Rose - Basically the same.
Kelsey - Made her shorter and recently I have decided her natural blonde hair will be dyed black. A very early incarnation of her had her hair in a bob cut.
Robbie - I made him an inch taller and changed his bangs, that's it.
Akash - I made him an inch shorter and gave him tucked in shirts that's it
Jedi - Not sure about this one because he evolved from a completely different character but he's mostly the same.
Carmen - I did give her a head-covering and I made her curvier but that's it.
Carla - Oh definitely not. She used to have pale skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. Now has brown skin, dark brown hair, and amber eyes. Also gave her glasses and made her shorter.
George - Also has darker skin. Made his hair poofier. Made his outfit less boring.
Hye-Jin - Messed with her height a lot but I've settled on her being relatively tall. Also changed her hairstyle to be in ponytails and general outfits.
I'll stop there! Think that's good enough. Thanks again!

If you’re still taking requests, how about a one shot of Hayffie watching Katniss and Peeta’s kids for the day? I feel like we need more Hayffie fluff, and shenanigans can ensue of course :)
Soft life
Ship: Effie Trinket/Haymitch Abernathy
Fandom: Hunger Games
Genre: tooth-rotting fluff
Can be read on AO3!
It was still early afternoon when Haymitch woke up from his nap. He had fallen asleep on the couch of his living room, lulled by the gentle spring breeze that swirled in from the open window. He opened his eyes to meet a pair of grey orbs with a lemon-zest mane.
The girl was sitting on the floor with a colouring book and pastels in front of her, an amused smile on her face that strongly resembled her mother’s.
“Hi!” she quipped.
“Robin, what are you doing here?” he moved into a sitting position, groaning when he felt the twinge in his neck. It was a stupid question, anyway. He knew the answer already. The Mellark children had inherited from their parents the bad habit of invading his house, almost as if it was another part of their own. And it was mostly Effie’s fault; she never seemed to be able to say no.
“How silly you are! We came to keep you company, of course. Mommy and Daddy worry an awful looot about you and MaMaw being all alone.” the kid explained, agitating her hands in the air.
Robin was just shy of six and had taken almost completely after her father, preferring her colouring book to more adventurous activities. Everyone adored her, and many parents seemed to envy her sweet temperament.
Nothing could have prepared them for what was coming.
Just a few years prior, Robin started emulating Effie. With her thick District Twelve accent, she used words like “refined” and “preposterous”, developing a keen interest in fashion and intricate fabric designs. Surprisingly, Katniss and Peeta didn’t seem to mind having their own District Twelve diva, even going so far as indulging her wishes whenever it was possible.
“Can’t be too lonely, when it’s the two of us” he snorted, stretching just enough to shake away the tiredness.
The kid shrugged and resumed her activity, and from what he could see she was colouring an elaborate outfit. He deduced the book had been shipped from the Capitol; the trends were a lot more subdued now but still ridiculous to him.
He heard footsteps and looked up to see Effie, walking in with a little Arlow babbling in her arms. Two years old and rambunctious, the boy looked more like his mother than Katniss herself.
“Oh, Grandpapa woke up!” Effie cooed as she sat on the rocking chair, sitting Arlow on her lap. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and she was wearing a light flowery dress that seemed to be fitting to the current season. Haymitch’s eyes softened as he watched her talk to the boy, making funny baby sounds, and moving her hands to tickle him.
“Grandpapa wonders why we can’t have a nice evening to ourselves, too” he smirked.
“Haymitch, don’t say these things in front of our grandbabies!”
“Babies? That girl will soon manage a clothing line, sweetheart”. He winked at Robin who beamed at his words.
“That she will, that she will!” Effie acquiesced with a proud smile on her face.
“MaMaw, do you think a floral motive would go well with a tartan?”
“A floral and tartan dress? That’s revolutionary darling, I’d wear it!”
“You’d wear a potato sack if pretty enough” he teased, watching as Arlow slowly fell asleep with his head on Effie’s chest. Lucky boy indeed.
“Robin, don’t listen to him, he knows nothing of fashion”.
“Is that why it’s MaMaw who buys your clothes?”
“No, MaMaw buys my clothes because I’m lazy”.
“And because you have no fashion sense”.
“Thank God for that, you’d have a stroke if I was the one setting trends. What would be left for you?”
Her eyes were narrowed into two slits, and he felt an otherworldly urge to kiss her pout away. He would have, sans Arlow and Robin. She seemed to have read his mind and her lips stretched into a smile, one of those only reserved for him.
He would have never thought this could be his life, and he certainly knew she would say the same. Sometimes it still seemed too good to be true. But they had lived together for years, now, and shared a bed every night without fail. Even when their demons screamed. Especially then.
Twelve had been good to them, even to Effie, despite all expectations. At first, it hadn’t been easy. She’d had to adapt to Twelve’s sensibilities and feel comfortable without her wigs and makeup to shield her from the world. And she still never went out without a scarf covering her hair, he and the children were the only ones allowed to see her real hair, the only ones she could be her true self with.
Not everyone had welcomed her with open arms when she’d come, but slowly that worked itself out as well.
If he’d been told this would be his life, a life where he was free, where he and Effie could simply be without problems, he would have probably laughed. Maybe even mocked. It would have been the response of a man who had no hope, it would have been fitting.
Things changed, he mused. Their life now was walks in the meadow, trips to the Hob where they’d bicker about what to buy or not, swims at the lake during warm summer days, and dozing off under the shade of a tree. It was feeding the geese, helping Peeta at the bakery, or accompanying Katniss on her hunting trips.
They had the children, and now Robin and Arlow too. It was a soft life. It was good.

I played the "Fields of Mistria" Demo! Here's my thoughts:
(that title sounds like something a youtuber would say auuughhhhhhhh)
I found out about this game completely randomly and decided to give the demo a try. And surprisingly, or maybe not at all, I am completely taken with it and i can't wait to see how the game will develop! :D
So for now, until the 5th of August arrives, here's what i liked, disliked and what i wish to see in "Fields of Mistria" in the future <3
strap in yall it's a bit long. but there are photos! like. three of them skfjdkhfksj
Things I liked:
You don’t choose your character model’s sex. Also because all of the models being roughly the same size, there’s freedom to imagine your characters’ body type however you want. Surprisingly I also don't recall any of the characters assuming your gender based on your pronouns, which is nice.
Multiple pronouns options! My one suggestion would be to add a She/He option as well ^_^
Wide range of skin tones available. There’s currently 36 in the demo. (to compare, Stardew Valley has 24 and 10 of them are unusual colours like blue or green)
The fact that you can set your birthday on the calendar, although it doesn’t seem to do anything for now. In one of my playthroughs I set my birthday on the 3rd day of Spring, and the only thing that appeared was a pop up saying “It’s your birthday!”. Understandable, this is only the demo after all. I wonder if the early access will have characters react to your birthday and maybe even give you some gifts!
The few available hairstyles are really nice. My absolute favourite thing about hair in the demo was that it has a moving animation! Small detail but it really delighted me.
Same goes for clothes, they are cute!
The customization isn't locked and you can create a couple of outfits you can swap any time! You can also change everything about your character's looks at any time, including their pronouns.
The predetermined palette of colours you can choose your hair colour from is pretty good. There’s 40 colours so far.
I have a small problem with the opening cutscene but the rest of the beginning cutscenes are good! I like the one when you arrive at the bridge and meet Balor and the camera slides to him. And the Juniper cutscene haha
Now that I mentioned NPCs, I really like the cute, personalized animations they have, like Adeline snapping her fingers, Balor flicking his hair before walking away, Celine working in her garden, Josephine and Hemlock singing.
I absolutely love all of the character designs in this game. The 90s anime artstyle, colours, their poses and expressions. I really feel like this is the thing that really drew me to try this game as I wasn’t interested in a new farming simulator. But here I am! All with the power of anime. For example, here are the designs of the romanceable characters! The photo is from the Fields of Mistria website:
Another huge NPC win for me is that the characters interact with each other a lot! I noticed that a lot of them meet during the day and talk with little dialogue bubbles. It feels like the townspeople know each other quite well, I hope we get to learn even more about them and their dynamics!
One of the best things about interacting with characters is that you can talk to them multiple times during the day, getting a bunch of different dialogues. Once you talk to someone you have to wait either for them to change their location or for one of the other characters to approach them, to talk. I really like it since it means you get to interact with everyone couple times a day and it honestly makes the game more enjoyable.
From the little crumbs of lore we got, I am really intrigued about the setting. Prior to the player’s arrival to Mistria, the region has been hit by an earthquake. The disaster caused the main trading route bridge to collapse, the area getting destroyed and a lot of residents leaving the town. The town leader Adeline (daughter of a Baroness and Baron of Mistria) with her brother, Eiland's, help comes up with the idea to seek out an adventurer who could help to revitalize the town. We learn that Mistria is part of the Kingdom of Aldaria (so we have a monarchy), it has its own guardian deities and rich ancient history with the Sleeping Dragon Inn being a historical landmark and that magic is not hidden from people who can’t use it (Juniper freely uses magic in front of the kids in her cutscene after completing her request). Some characters offer some little hits to what their story might be about: Balor says that compared to Elsie he didn’t have a good time in the Capital, and other characters note how he is mysterious and obtains his wares in unknown ways. Elsie is a retired socialite from the Capital with many past romance stories to share, she probably knows a lot of interesting titbits about the Capital and people there. Juniper says that there’s something suspicious about Celine and Juniper herself is stuck in a town she doesn’t really seem to like but seemingly has something she needs to achieve here. When you meet March he slips for a second and says “I- We have everything under control” so it seems he views the player’s arrival as a threat to him in some way (emotionally i presume, not literally). Errol used to be a miner, Hayden can possibly talk to animals? And so much more. And of course, there’s the statue of dragon Caldarus who appears to be a marriageable character…? Anyways, I can’t wait to learn more about this setting!
I loved that you can talk with animals like Dozy and Henrietta, give them gifts and pet them. I really hope we can do the same with our pet.
The interior designs of all the buildings is extremely cute! I really like all of them, my favourite must be the Sleeping Dragon Inn, Celine’s cottage and the Carpenter’s Shop. Plus Elsie’s room at the manor and Hayden’s house.
I also like the beach a lot. It just feels nice and there’s a light house and I sure do love a light house /reference plus there's good ambience there
If you go to the manor there’s a portrait of the Baroness, the Baron and little Adeline and Eiland over the fireplace in the dining room :3
I really like Holt’s dad jokes. Pierre could never-
Guys I need Valen I need her
You are able to swim! It’s really cool and the animation is cute. Plus you can dive in certain spots to find stuff.
You can hold down the button to eat a bunch of food if you have multiple of something.
Saving your game having a form of a diary is very cute and I love that. Same with the crystal orb serving as a weather channel.
Fighting monsters feels dynamic! You actually have to put some thought into learning each individual monster’s behaviour and attack patterns. It’s challenging but not too hard. But they do quite a bit of damage at the start. Fighting that red mushroom felt like playing “Baba Jaga patrzy” again haha.
And speaking of fighting, i like our own character's fighting moves! But it took a bit to get used to them since they make the character move and it's not just. clicking with the mouse repeatedly skdhfjsf
I like the sound design!
Soundtrack is very nice. Not all of it is very memorable but it’s nice while you listen to it and it fits the game. There are some tracks that already got stuck in my head :] I like the one that plays at the Blacksmith, it’s intense for no reason, just like March lol
I cannot stop gushing about the characters, so far even just from the designs they all feel like they have distinct personalities and each one of them has their own thing going on. They all feel so warm and welcoming even if their actions aren’t (looking at you March). I don’t know, something about the artstyle, the pixels, design and colour palette just has me very enamoured with them. I really hope their character arcs or stories will deliver.
I like Caldarus. And the music that plays when he first speaks to us in our dream.
The museum is so nice. Also I love that Errol is an actual character we can talk to… Unlike another museum curator I know /j
You can buy stuff from shops even if no one is around!
Level tenth of the Mines… I’m SO intrigued
I like that there’s magic and can’t wait to see what other spells we can learn!
You can craft at the crafting station in town even if you don’t have the necessary materials on your person, but they are in chests at the farmhouse. As long as the stuff you need is in your chests you can craft stuff which is pretty cool.
Lastly, what I really loved about playing the demo is that not once did I feel rushed to do anything. Farming simulators often make you feel like you have to maximize your time in the day *cough* SDV *cough* and I do enjoy that sometimes, but other times I just want to chill. Somehow Fields of Mistria demo achieves this feeling of not having to rush and playing at your own pace and it feels great.
Things I disliked:
Not a lot of things mentioned here are going to be stuff I actively disliked, more like felt annoyed or confused by. And before any of my little complaints gets the “this is only a demo!” response, let me assure you: I am aware. If things change before or after the early release that’s great! This is specifically what I find ‘meh’ about the demo so far.
When the opening cutscene in Adeline’s office starts playing the room is positioned oddly on the screen. I think it’s so later the camera can follow the characters’ movements but when the cutscene starts and you only see the bottom half of the room at an angle, it feels really weird, like the room wasn’t centred by accident.
I’d love for the character creator to have the option to rotate the model of your character. I think it would be good to see what the options you picked look like from different angles before you jump into the game. Although the customization isn’t locked and you can change how you look whenever. Still, this could be a nice option
So I just said that the colour palette for hair is pretty good. Can’t say the same about the other ones, for eyes and clothes. The colours we get aren’t bad but I feel like there’s too little of them. Speaking of eye colours…
Choosing the eye colour is annoying. Once you pick an eye shape (cool feature btw) a window pops up in the middle of the screen with eye colours. The icons are too small to see the eye colour properly, especially when you want to compare the darker colours. I had to move my face closer to the screen to see what was I picking. And after you pick something the window disappears and you can see the colour you chose on the model. Okay, cool but now if I want to try out different options it I have to open the window again. Constantly opening the colours window to check other options is tedious and a bit frustrating. What I think would be good instead is once you click to choose the colours, next to the options appears a close up of your character model, and the window doesn’t close until you click an “X” button. To sum up my main problems are colour options visibility and the colour picking mechanic. Hair colour and colours for clothes and other stuff is picked in the same way BUT all of those elements are bigger than the four pixels the eyes are made out of.
The controls are not obvious. The game shows you to progress dialogues with “E” key but nothing aside from that. I didn’t realise until the last day of my first playthrough that you can jump, because in my previous experiences, 2D RPG, and especially farming simulator games don’t usually have that option, and the only instance of jumping happened in a cutscene, so I thought it was just an animation for the cutscene. I think it would be a good opportunity to use that moment in the cutscene for brief player interaction so they can learn how to jump, however silly that sounds. I think the player’s experience would benefit from a controls tutorial, in form of a window popping up or them showing up on the side of the screen like in Stardew Valley on the first day.
While interior designs are really cool I feel like the outside is kinda empty. Not so much the building but the areas around them. It is felt the most in the empty stretches of land outside the town but running through the paved roads in it can also feel a bit odd. Like the area is too empty. It’s definitely not a problem on the farm due to all the overgrown grass but everywhere else you really feel like it’s just a flat stretch of nothing. I think adding some more details could be nice, maybe some streetlights, plants, a bit more texture on surfaces.
I had a really odd moment that took me out entirely. While playing the demo you can get Juniper’s request on the board to bring her a Lilac. Once you complete it, a cutscene set at the bathhouse will start playing right away, regardless of where were you when you completed the request. This felt incredibly jarring to me. The first time I did this request I gave the Lilac at the bathhouse, but the second time it was late evening at Valen’s house. So it was pretty surprising to be essentially teleported to a completely different place. I don’t think it’s a great mechanic. It would be better if a cutscene set at a specific place on the map started when you arrive there, to help it feel more coherent.
As much as I like the warm and cozy feel of the characters, it felt like there wasn’t a lot of variety in reactions to the player’s arrival. Everyone except I think literally one person is all cheery. I don’t mind this that much, cause the community being excited for your arrival feels sweet. It makes sense with the story too, the player is there to help out around the town, and who living there wouldn’t be happy about that? I just really hope the character’s don’t end up with poorly defined personalities, that’s my main concern for now about the story. It would be tragic if the game only ended up having cute designs but nothing else. Needless to say I have pretty high hopes for the final version! I really hope it works out and I’m 100% rooting for the team.
The inventory system had me kinda confused at the start. The spaces are all in one line in game but once you open your journal they’re stacked on top of each other? Yeah took me a bit to get used to that, and I’m not sure how I feel about it still.
The user interface is very cute, I have one problem though. It’s hard to tell what a lot of the little icons mean, for example, when you open the chest there’s a chest icon next to the two arrows that sort stuff. I have no clue what it does and when you’re hovering over it, it doesn’t have a name or an explanation either.
You can’t hold down mouse button to use tools continuously. This is because when you upgrade your tools, for example a pickaxe, when you hold it down you get to mine more spaces at the same time. I’m not sure if that exchange is worth it.
You have to click one by one if you want to throw multiple items out in the inventory trashcan.
It’s a shame you can’t land on rocks/big water lily leaves on the water. And you can’t walk into the sea, you have to specifically jump into it. This isn’t really a complaint, I just think I’d be cool if you could just slowly walk into the sea. Like slowly getting submerged.
I feel like the scroll wheel directions are odd… Scrolling upwards will move you to the right of the inventory but I feel like it should be the other way… Maybe it can be changed later in settings.
The buildings on the map are not named. It would be nice if, when you hover over an area you see its name.
Credits get blurry when moving. It hurt my eyes :(
Things I hope to see in the Early Access (and in the game in general):
Interactivity within interiors. So like looking at bookshelves to see what books a character has, reading letters or notebooks that were left out, finding some stuff in their drawers… Basically snooping haha. Oh and more interactivity with objects placed outside too. Right now there are some signs and items you can't interact with, like that tent by the dig site.
More settings for in-game scale! It would be cool if there was one between 3x and 2x, like a 2.5x.
The ability to sell stuff directly at shops. Sometimes you need money but waiting until the next day would ruin your plans.
Sitting! I wanna sit in spots next to the characters and vibe :]
While I do like available colours, I think adding a colour wheel or sliders would be neat.
I wonder what are gender identities and sexual orientations of the characters :]
More clothes and hair options obviously! And furniture as well
What gets implemented for the player’s birthday
How the museum exhibition will look like :D
Lastly, I might be way out of my depth with this one but it would be cool if the romanceable characters could also move in with you platonically… Or if there was a character like Krobus, a little friend you can invite to live with you <3
And that's it :] sorry for the stardew comparison, it's like the only farming sim i'm very familiar with
I've been enjoying playing the demo a lot and i definitely will play more before it closes. And i will for sure be following the development and waiting for the early access in august!
it was a really fun experience over all and if ur interested i reccomend you try it out :D

Oak!! I want to know formal (whatever formal means for them), wardrobe, and change
formal: What's your OC's formal look? Do they like dressing up? Do they have different looks for different occasions?
Oak definitely enjoys dressing up, making and donning jewellery, mixing and matching items to make cool outfits, mixing and matching styles (zelek goblin, other goblin or orc clans' patterns and adornments and clothes, kryn clothes, etc). They put together outfits with whatever is available to them, and make a point of wearing plenty of traditional jewellery of their own making (or their sister's).
Their formal look for someone's wedding or graduation could be something like this (art whipped together in 30 mins)
But they definitely like playing around and could easily wear a dress or something very different from this too. Here is my Oak wardrobe pinboard.
wardrobe: How big is your character's wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?
Their wardrobe is somewhat big, actually, but that's only because they share with other three siblings (currently)! The fourth of five siblings, Oak's clothes were always handed down from Kat or Zed, the twins (which works really well for Oak who likes both feminine and masculine clothes, tho Kat's were always in much much better state than Zed's) while they were all still growing. Since they've reached adulthood and all of the other siblings too, and most of them still live at home, on and off, they all share clothes. I can definitely see that creating some light hearted conflict when Oak was moving to Rosohna and wanted to take a piece of clothing Willow also likes a lot. XD
I think everyone in the Zahar family can sew and make basic repairs to clothes, including Oak, but Kat is probably one of the few who can actually make her own clothes. And I think Oak's dad can knit and make embroidery, so quite often Oak would get their help to fully remodel an item of clothing, or to add traditional patterns to clothes they bought in Rosohna.
change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?
I really wanted to give Oak a tattoo, but I only thought of the design after our Have I Ever Game in canon (in which they said they had none) 😞 maybe they'll get it in the future.
As for big changes... I think Oak kept their hair at shoulder-length or shorter for most of their childhood and early teens, but then they decided to grow it out and liked it long. The face piercings were also a big appearance change, and they're particularly proud and fond of them 😌
The closest to a "complete wardrobe swap" I can think of is how they had to buy more clothes for themself during the years in Rosohna so that means they added a lot more Kryn clothes to their wardrobe (all very simple, working class stuff), but you bet they have already made adjustments to all of those clothes to make them more them, more vibrant, more goblin. 😌 So they're no longer boring or simple.

I don't think I've ever properly explained my magical girl manga concept here before, so to catch everyone up:
This is the basic summary of what I'm currently calling
Action-Magic Art Club!!
Basically, a handful of artists all over a city in Japan are mysteriously given powers based on their art styles and mediums. These powers are contained within little vials or pendants containing different art mediums (paints, craft materials, charcoal, pastels, whatever), which grant their users their abilities and are activated when the vial is opened.
The series will follow 4 girls who help the other artists who've been given powers gain better control of their abilities and stop magic-related disasters, while also leading up to a mystery surrounding disappearances in the city they're protecting.. Oh, and cute slice of life shenanigans too.
These are the 4 main characters who are granted these abilities; Shizue, Kagami, Naoki, and Ishi. Each have their own unique powers and styles!
(Pictured are their casual/everyday outfits, I'll be posting full refs including their magical girl transformations soon!)
Shizue is a 19 year old trans girl who lives in the city with her younger sister, Kagami. She's a hobbyist artist who makes surrealist paintings with watercolors, and after finding her vial, gains the power to manipulate large amounts of paint into different shapes and states. She tends to be quiet and reserved, and often struggles with strong feelings of anxiety in her day-to-day life. However, despite the challenges she faces, she's very hardworking and responsible, especially after becoming Kagami's primary caretaker at an early age. No matter what comes her way, she does her best to be kind and understanding to the people around her.
Her other interests include gaming, cosplay, and anime.
Kagami, on the other hand, is incredibly energetic, outgoing, and most of all intense in everything she does. She's a 16 year old high school student who likes to draw and write action manga in her free time. Upon finding her vial, she gains the ability to summon short-range magical weapons made of ink. She's very determined and nearly unstoppable when she sets her mind to something, but can sometimes a bit reckless and hot-headed. She's strong, passionate, and would do anything to protect the people she cares about.
Her other interests include alternative music, poetry, & athletics.
Naoki is a 20-year-old Japanese-American immigrant who lives with her girlfriend, Ishi. She's fun, carefree, and does her best to keep the people around her in high spirits. She's a freelance artist that specializes in nature paintings, and when she discovers her vial, becomes able to instantly create plants out of acrylic paint. Although sometimes impulsive, she's optimistic, loving, and always strives to be compassionate.
Her other hobbies include cooking, hiking, swimming, & photography.
Ishi is a 21-year-old storyboard artist for an animation studio. Level-headed, mature, critical, and always honest, she can sometimes come off as cold or blunt, but underneath her stern exterior she feels a deep care and concern for others that guides her above all else. When she finds her vial, she develops the power to create nearly unbreakable structures out of charcoal. Between her work at the studio and her life as a magical girl, she often finds herself overworked and stressed, but no matter what, she'll always make time for her friends when they need her.
In her small amounts of spare time, she enjoys reading, interior design, and TV dramas. (But secretly, she's also a massive nerd who loves fantasy rpgs and loud music to release all the pent up stress in her mind)
Some backstory/dynamic ramblings:
As a couple, Ishi and Naoki tend to bring out the best in eachother, as while Ishi helps bring Naoki down to earth and offers a more realistic approach to Naoki's endless optimism, Naoki helps Ishi to loosen up and recognize when she's been pushing herself too hard, and when it's time to take a break. They care for eachother in their own ways and balance eachother's perspectives in a healthy way.
They met online when they were much younger, when Naoki resided in the US. Their relationship was already strong, but one day after turning 18, Naoki decided to collect her savings and fly overseas to stay in Japan, due to unfortunate circumstances in her home and family life. She had planned to stay with extended family that agreed to take her in, but upon arriving, found an empty house, and the discovery that that they hadn't been seen since the morning before. Ishi offered her a place to stay instead, and they've lived together ever since. Naoki never forgot the kindness and compassion Ishi showed her that day at a time when she was stricken with grief and needed support more than ever; and does her best to pay it forward every day.
As sisters, Shizue and Kagami both care about eachother, but often clash with eachother due to their polar opposite temperaments and outlooks. Shortly before the series begins (roughly a year), their parents disappeared under unknown circumstances, and Shizue as a very young adult was made to step in and act as Kagami's caretaker during investigation. They've both dealt with the loss in their own ways and in some ways it's created a rift between them, but at the end of the day Shizue wants nothing more than for Kagami to be safe and happy, and even though she'd never say it, Kagami secretly looks up to her older sister and appreciates everything she does for her.
I'm not sure when I'll start releasing actual pages as I've still got quite a few things to work out in the story, but I'm excited to write more and I hope you all enjoy it, however it ends up looking when I'm ready to share it with you. ♡
Feel free to ask any questions or share any thoughts you have! I'm happy to talk about it anytime ☆

I think that majority of players don’t even know that chen is one of the main character in game that it’s sad. I see a lot of people complaining about her appearing in stories after reunion arc even though her screen time is already a lot less than amiya and kaltsit… I think yj already forgot about the main characters concept lmao but her getting new outfit at different region is cool i guess but why are those outfits so weird- (sorry this is just my personally ranting…
true! before I go on my own ramble everyone else can scroll down to the bottom for (unconfirmed??) ten thousand mountains lore/trivia
i have a feeling this image is somehow related to your ask LMFAO...
actually... have they mentioned the whole 'kaltsit = past, chen = present, and amiya = future' thing outside of CN or did i dream this i feel like they said it somewhere...i can kind of see how people would think amiya is the only protag seeing as there are people who unironically think the doc is the (sole/main) protag and chen/kal acting so antagonistic early on probably didnt help lol
2. yea its sad but as always if chen has 1 morbillion fans i am one of them if she has one im that 1 fan etc drinking their salty tears 🫡🫡🫡
3. uhhh went on a little costume design ramble sorry. my outfits copium is basically telling myself she's really getting the 'dad who does not really understand fashion buying(designing) clothes for child' treatment anime-style (like what can i say other than point to the night and day difference of dossoles chummer e2 fit vs the ice cream collab fit)
i have my personal nitpicks for every outfit but (looks at gavial2 summer skin) a 8.8 is so much better than a...nvm i'll refrain from grading. but for all the nits i pick i think they still pass the baseline of costume design because of the storytelling they do
base chen: cop who likes to yolo a bit too much, leave that one button undone so roll up her sleeves, give her gloves, give her a walkie talkie/earpiece etc, e2 makes that jacket even bigger and has that yummy rhodes teal
CNY skin: still of the opinion/hc that its the dress fumizuki mentioned which is why she looks like shes wearing it grudgingly, it has shorts though at least !!
chummer: shes (trying to be) on a holungday so bring back her epic tourist c cap and make her existing recognizable jacket more summer-y, also the duck heart emoji
victorian arc: cop sideclass(?) to sheriff detective or something, embracing her cringe but free era by leaving her collars up now has the sense to tuck in her shirt and wear actual pants, better coverage against the elements etc etc thank terra nevermind the fact theyre so tight fitting this is just like khr also she looks flatter in the animated PV smile i'm reminded of a wb comment that went sth like 'why are you dressing like this when youre already 30' on this fit and shes not explicitly 30 etc etc but i really like the 'chuuni(cringe but free) at 30' vibe
yumen: passing-by traveler with the cape!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍 i really like how it looks in the cg lol with the thinner/darker stripes on the outside, ngl no fucking idea what that green box is but i appreciate chen still having a little green and yellow on her outfit, the shortness of the dress? bothered me at first but ive come to the terms that chen is a shorts enjoyer so
10k mountains: youxia-core with the hat and cape👍👍👍👍👍👍 and keeps the plastic part from chummer jacket as well as the checkers (i think they were zips but you know, the black and white alternating…lol remember how her current thing is supposedly dealing with the reality of being grey or whatever as little sense as that makes. we are in full hc territory here but its so much better than adding another 20 belts) the heels dont exist to me though
like idk it's not even a high bar honestly just nail down the role/silhouettes first before adding your morbillion belts/fanservice 😭 looking at a certain bunch of characters anyway this is why swire has the best track record for outfits 1/? ill stop here before i start tambling about her summer drip
anyway everyone should look at this Canon(as in camera brand not the other meaning) ad ft. real cormorant im convinced they got the designs from HG early because they dropped a photoshoot ~bout a week after the 4anni livestream and they got the 2hu-style sleeves right that you can never see unless you look at the sprite sheet, uh
wait what's this on the back
oh its from a poem wait whys that so famili
just going to link some translations/explainers of the poem i think but you can also look up '涼州詞 王之渙 + english translation' or something for more there's quite a few

Before you say anything I never specified that my leaving is going to be permanent. I knew that will come back some day.
Also this a masterpost showcasing my aus that I made. (WARNING:A lot of it is subject to change and their will be bad drawings that I will remake.)
Spyfell:
In world where the black and white faction are devide as ever, they are an ex spy and a soldier who later left their work because on unsatisfaction and disagreement with the government thanks for fell!gray (for fell!black) and fell!purple (fell!white) . (Also the even happened after the "good ending" where they realise the flaws in their faction, leaving their nations behind and become friends since I don't think I could write a political drama or anything like that.)
Azriel Archibald (Fell!White) :
Orientation and gender: Gay, cis male
Backstory: He is an experiment created by the government as a weapon. It his past he was constant tested and train in cruel ways which lead to trauma. Also I imagine him having a toy ship that he use to play and protend to be a captain to combat the stress out as a kid. His left his job as agent due to disagreement with the government and because he felt horrible here because of his sexuality. Since he was created for them he faked his death go by Azriel Archibald as a fake name, I don't it would make him leave so easily.
Personality: He is a bug eyed, caring, timid, nervous, interested in helping others for the sake of it, clever and somewhat flamboyant person. Due the fact he is an expiriment, he has cat-like eye that can see in the dark pretty decently and feathers as body hair. Also he likes listening to old early 20 centuries music and has a journal where he vents and writes his thoughts on.
Here's some references sheets and concept art:
casual outfit concept. (old)
Casual outfit concept 2 (old)
Formal work outfit pixel art. (old)
Kazimir(Fell!Black):
Orientation and gender identity : Straight male
Backstory:He was corporal. Later left his job due to disagreements with the government and doubts if he is doing the right thing.
He loyal, brave, unstressed, a bit stubborn person, doesn't talks his fellings and later secretly really interested in jrpgs and his favourite is UNDERFELL. (Yep, underfell just exist as an indie game the same way undertale does in our world). In term of more negative he is more weapon and battle savvy then normal savvy.
Early version plus concept:
Remake:
Fell!Gray:
I haven't design her and purple yet but Imagine her formal outfit being both gray and purple. Beside that she a vigilante who help Kazimir change his mind about his ruling when he started losing thrust in them. They met when Kazimir was lost in a snowstorm in the middle of the forest and was force spend some nights with her in a cabin.
Fell!Purple:
Orientation and gender: Aroace cis male (Originally he was gay but I changed it since they are already enough gay man so I desided to make him unique)
Description: He is an activist who is against the black vs white war and the oppression of its country, The White Faction. He helped Azriel to accept his sexuality and motivated him to leave his job. But has alter ego where he tries his best exposed his nation true colors and tries to stop war by sabotaging both of them so they can be too weak to continue fighting. (This also sort of how I imagine what gray spy do in the original comics most of the time.)
Personality : Extroverty, talking, a bit wacky, strong-willed, but moody, a bit hot tempered and bossy. He hates his doesn't like his nations' current state and homophobia in there and it's against the war.
Design and concepts sketches:
Azra Hayat:
She made Azzy also she is from Pakistan like nation. Beside that she is hardworking, stoic looking, collective, loyal and was devoted to make Azriel excellent agent. She later regret what she did to him and understand why he left. Also I am interested seeing her visit him in a fanfic.
Miscellaneous info:Both are not "immortal" and can die permanently. They are taller then their prime self. I believe this is the first au I started making.
Spyswap:
At first I thought to swap the spies with themselves but I denied because I thought that this concept was lame. Intil I decide to swap them with the gray spy and then the au was born.
Backstory for Swap!Black and Swap!White: They once met as children. They started as friends before developing fillings for one another. (Yeah there isn't much info on them.)
Spy 1(Swap!Black):He is a member of the gray embassy. He still childish and playful like his prime self but he also clingy often giving physical to his husband Spy 2 (more on him later),is unbothered, cocky ,charismatic, talk dramatic from time to time like a narrater and hates doing chores. Also he is an optimist but typically is the one to make a stupid mistake that could cause to fail a mission but that doesn't bother him. He is flamboyant and like being in spotlight and looking heroic and hates camouflages and disguise. On the brighter side he is clever, very clever and is the one who typically come up plans. (Also he likes brown chocolate)
Spy 2(Swap!White):He also a member of the gray embassy. He still our book reader with a sense of good manners but he hard working, foodie, doesn't get sarcasm or Spy 1 jokes very much and he more passimistic. He isn't known to be much creative with his plans compare to Spy 1 and often ask him for help. Unlike him however he is patience, mature, does more chores then 1 and constantly remind him to do his.
Both:Are married, does fight sometimes however they're NOT cruel or sadistic as the prime selfs. They even be will shocked when they learn what their prime self's relationship is like. Also they are gay and Christians (I say that since in my multiverse the prime spies are bisexual). I left it ambiguous if they are cis or not. Also they are better as agents then the prime spies simular way gray spy is (accept they can outsmarted by her even if it's less likely). Also they don't really care about Gray vs Black and White conflict and are not really nationalistic toward their faction. They just "join in" on the conflict because of the job. They prefer stopping bad guys. (Although they are stubborn and it's hard to them to see the other person's prospective sometimes.)
Here's concept art/references. (Not that swap!Black is the one who weare simular clothing to Gray spy with the same cape thing while swap!White wears more startard suit.)
the last image is their finalised design. (however imagine Spy 1 to be a bit buff with smaller torso.)
Grayberry/Berry/John Dagger:
Orientation and gender: Straight male.
He is sort of a parody of Underswap Sans. Friendly, flamboyant, says "Wowzers!" when he is estatic his eyes turn into stars etc. However he isn't that much of a pacifist compare to Sans and understand that he can't redeem everyone although he still believes second chances to an extend. On the brighter side he love his fathers and they are basically his idols. He wants to become a secret agent like them and likes to roll play as one. On the negative side he's greedy, a little hypocritical and a bit dumb and gullible (I imagine him going on character arc or something) Also he's around 12.
(oh boy he looks like Satan)
The Lady in Black and White/BNR(Swap!Gray) (also it's pronounced /ˈbaɪ.nə.ɹɪ/):
Orientation and gender: Straight female
Personality:She is a bitch. She envious of them for being greater agents then and also being in a relationship with someone since she's single . She is cruel, sadistic, hate being left out and has a big ego but she does have standards like sometime she can cancelled one of her plans when the family celebrating a holliday or being in despair. Still on the brighter she can be a little sarcastic and loves her faction. Her win rate against them is 25%.
Here is the first sketches of her.
Here is her final design.
Miscellaneous changes: Spy 1 and 2 are the ones who created a machine that could travel between universe and often explore the multiverse. Their home works like multiverse hq even if is just a fancy house.
God vs God:
A heavy important universe feeled with godlike beings who keep the balance in the multiverse. It also themed after classic mythology.
Goth(G!Black):
Orientation and gender :Biro-ace, cis male.
He is the god of death and manage a place within the roots of the tree of life that deside who dieds. He HATES his job and he is more interested in the mortal world and wants to behave and act like a human unlike his fellow gods. Dispite being a god he can only teleport across the multiverse via some form of phasing trough, have above average strength (around wall level or so), summon a scythe and kill any mortal organic being with simple touch. So he constantly wears hoodie, gloves and sweetpants, to protect others from dangerous touch. In term of personality he is lay back, emo-ish with great interested in scary things, he typically refused to use his powers just to fit in. In terms negatives he is careless and a bit selfish but I imagine him going through a character arc to changes himself.
Concept art:
(Yes he only has thighs and floots in air up to 10 meters.)
Also he is black now. He has been drawing him that way after I made the first digital drawing of him.
Lux(G!White):
Orientation and gender: Straight male
He is the God of Life. He doesn't like how Goth loves the mortal world think it would make him lazy. He does simular job to him only that he is focusing around who live and who is getting resurrected/birth within the cloud leafs on the tree of life.
Miscellaneous info :
They both have finite number of minions for their job. As for more gods there is G!Gray who the goddess of justice and neutrality, G!Green god of luck and success, Alex, a character I thought to create for a deferent au but I lost motivation, they are genderfluid and the god of love, affection and relationships.
Timeline
Azzy and Kazzy left their jobs and country.
1 and 2 made a portal to travel to deferent aus.
First they meet White and Black.
Second they meet Kazimir and Azriel
Then the events of my first fanfic happened here.
Later Azra meet Azzy again.
Fanfic
Minor aus:
Little spy:
Y'know that stop motion Spy vs Spy shorts?
This is basically that. In this everything looks like a stop motion set and the spies are like really small (around 3 decimeters) and there are just 9 years old. However they live like adult because cartoon logic. Dispite being childish they are not very different from the primes ones. However in this au there are not actually spies, they just "role play" as ones in their antics. In actually they make gadgets for the government and the top secrets info it's just patents for their separate company. Also Gray Spy who is like 10 year old in au. She sort of a "frenemy" of them. Original she was interested in their rivelry making a scoreboard for who is going to win the most. However eventually after realise that it's almost aways 50/50 she lost interest and she thought it was boring and repetitive. So she decided to start trying to convince them to stop fight peaceful. It didn't work but she keep going. Beside that she is a tomboy, one sided and likes to hang out with them sometimes despite if she doesn't why they are trying to kill eacher.
SpyNegative:
An simple au for a chart that was working on. Basically Negative!White is a general who wear blacks clothes with blue accents wants to kill Negative!Black. Negative!Black is poor person who just wants to leave the country.
SpyHorror:
Gray Spy found Black Spy at abandoned town. He wear bandages at his head and his hand is chop off. Also White Spy is a monster.
Cringe:
A disbelief parody. Purple Spy commits genoside and kills Black Spy and Grey Spy. That puts White Spy in disbelief (due to special chemical that makes him act like papyrus he inserted into his drink) and fights him by summoning bones and and blasters learned thanks to a YouTube tutorial. Only phases 1-5 are canon. Lady in Gray almost comes back but jokingly didn't.
Changes to the prime universe:
Black Spy's real name is Jackle Xander Dagger and White Spy's Heckle Yuri Joke. (Yes, this is a reference to the video game, their fanon names based on the Joke and Dagger dept. and the name of the comic in Sweden I believe? Also this implies to Spy 1 and 2) They are both transgender and bisexual. Also some of things stated in my ask blog are canon here like both faction being one at some point, White Spy loving white chocolate and Black Spy loving doners. And... yeah I ship them. No I would be focus around their romance much for the most part. Also Gray Spy real name is Ann Z this is the same for BNR.
Miscellaneous info:
Purple Spy is real in this multiverse and likes to cause mischief and chaos from time to time. (Also I ship him with green spy)
Also fresh is real. I love and want them in my multiverse.
Ps:Yes, you draw them just give credit in the description of your post. (Just don't draw any inappropriate or offencive) Also you could redesign but don't change their gender identity or sexuality.

the adventures of royce everard, warrior of light continue! i am officially A Subscriber, thank you squenix for putting it on sale
we have a backstory now: royce was the captain of a dragoon unit that was wiped out in the chaos surrounding the calamity. ashamed of being the sole survivor, she exiled herself from ishgard and became a wanderer, helping others to atone for her failure to protect them.
[apparently one of the developers made an off-the-cuff comment about how there are only ten dragoons or something at any given time. we all agree that doesn't make sense, right? good. moving on]
that means all this chosen-one stuff with echoes and crystals would have come as a surprise, and not a welcome one. royce thinks it should've been someone younger, purer of heart, on a path yet undefined, unafraid of screwing it up. it probably makes her reticent to join the scions at first: fighting with others is a chance for history to repeat itself.
it also makes the coerthas quests deliciously uncomfortable, because royce left, and did not want to come back, and yet here she is. the locals aren't hostile to her because she's a foreigner, they're contemptuous because she's the captain who abandoned her post. she had neither the honor to die with her squad nor stay and debase herself, and that drives them to distraction. meanwhile, royce is too honor-bound not to help them. ugh.
anyway, enough OC rambling. what my friends said still rings true: the game really wants you to headcanon, and leaves ample room to do it. i'm far enough in the story now that raubahn calls royce "my friend," and i'm like, yes! they acknowledged the thing i made up! schrodinger's canon! let's do it!!
besides, i may have to wait until i play through heavensward to refine her more. there's not much about ishgard in the early game. i'm in no hurry. i'm enjoying the ul'dahn political intrigue as much as i thought i would. what a mess of a city. what an interesting place
i just. i. uh. hmm. how do i put this delicately. my mother taught me that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything
i wanna design an outfit for the sultana. my diminutive friend, the puffs! the ruffles! you have so many! i promise you don't need all of those!
literally cannot believe that one NPC who keeps lying to the authorities about having fought primals. the one with the chocobo face tattoo? what is this game. it serves me gut-wrenching tragedy and this dude in the same breath. you can't get cuisíne like this from any other restaurant
gee bill, how come your mom lets you use two dyes? i hope the upcoming change lets me dye royce's armor the way i want it to. i have my eye on a certain set, but the current dye system leaves the trim this weird shade of brown, which is the thing i wanted to recolor in the first place

Cyberchase: The Chase Is On! - Exhibit (part 1)
You know, I always wondered if Cyberchase belonged in a museum. It's made a huge impact over the years, and it is now one of the longest-running animated shows of all time. If it keeps going, it will eventually surpass Arthur in that regard, now that Arthur has ended.
So, Cyberchase is (or at least was) in a museum at some point. The Houston Children's Museum in Houston, Texas was setup with an exhibit called "Cyberchase: The Chase is On!", which opened on March 14, 2009. HCM was the exhibit's main home, though it did tour other places, such as the Children's Museum of Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norfolk, Connecticut.
I didn't visit the museum back then. I suppose I was too old. However, there are plenty of pictures, and even some videos, out there showing what the exhibit was like. Now, I keep speaking in the past-tense, as I don't think the exhibit still exists. There is footage of the exhibit as recently as 2022.

However, WayBack machine archives of the site in early 2023 show that the exhibit was removed from the list, and it has not been re-added. So, I think the Houston version was retired after an impressive 13 year run. It may not have been open throughout the entire 13 years, as there is a video discussing it being re-opened in 2021.

At the same time, the current museum map still shows a Cyberchase area. The map file is marked as being from 2022, so it may be out of date.
I can't go there to check for myself. You can only go in if you have a child with you. Seriously, it's in their rules.
Still, even if the exhibit is gone, there are pictures that have been publicly posted online. I want to share them and talk about them. I did not take any of these myself. I believe most of these were published by the museum or by new reports on the museum. However, it is possible that I grabbed something from Instagram or Flikr, since I grabbed these images awhile ago. I apologize if I posted a picture that someone didn't want reposted. This is purely for the purpose of archiving what this exhibit looked like. I'm not making any money here.
So, here's the portal into Cyberspace. The kids and Digit are here too.
Actually Digit would sometimes appear in costume form.
Here's sort of a wide shot that shows a few of the different exhibits. We can see Motherboard's screen, a tent from R-Fair city, Jackie in her winter outfit, and the Grim Wreaker.
Here's Matt explaining how this exhibit works. You are trying to restore the power by moving different components around.
Here's Inez explaining another exhibit. It seems that this one involved understanding the Mayan numbering system.
Now, we get Jackie explaining this exhibit. The objective is to aim your shots to get past the obstacles and hit that post in the center.
Now, let's look inside the Grim Wreaker.
I like that they kept some of the hallway design from "Harriet Hippo and the Mean Green".
From what I can gather, this exhibit was all about stopping The Hacker's magnetite rocket from launching,
And now, we're helping Delete with his estimation.
Buzz also wants help fitting everything in The Hacker's closet.
Well, I guess if the Cybersquad can steal the Grim Wreaker and fly it all over Cyberspace, the kids visiting the exhibit can do it too. Are we proposing which Cybersites get deleted though?
And now, The Hacker wants to play a carnival game. How much do you want to bet it is rigged in some way?
Let's look at Motherboard.
She has some very short character bios for us.
There are other computer stations in Control Central. I see four of the flash games on it. We have Bugs in the System, Score the Pour (wasn't that Pour to Score?), Eye of Rom, and Logic Zoo.
I'll stop here, as I am nearing the image limit. I may make a part 2 though. I have a treasure trove of over 100 images, and I cannot remember where I found them.
