Rice Fields Forever (Part 1)
This week on "Cooking Up Feminism" at Scarborough Arts, we covered our beloved Rice based dishes. South Asia alone has such a wide and popular variety of Rice dishes, such as the ever royal Biryani and Pulao from the Mughal kitchens of India and other favourites across communities: the Khichri or Daal Chawal. Jamaican food cultures are famous for Rice & Beans or Rice & Peas. Many Middle Eastern and Eastern European culinary communities stuff seasoned rice with various proteins and/or vegetables + herbs into grapevine leaves. Rice-based dishes create a larger yield and can be shared with many. When eaten with the hands, which is how Rice based dishes are commonly consumed in South Asian countries, these dishes can foster a sense of community and togetherness.
There are many legends and stories around Rice, specifically grains of Rice, in Pakistan. My elders would often say Allah's name is written on each grain of rice and so dropping a single one on the ground is forbidden. Others would stress that Rice will one day talk in front of the divine to complain about how we wasted the grains and so to eat every last one.
My father always eats Rice with his hands, despite the availability of cutlery. He even serves it onto his plate by reaching into the tray, grabbing a handful, moulding it into a round ball and then gently transferring the grains from one vessel to another. In all of these years of having witnessed him eating, we've never seen him drop a single grain of Rice on the table or the floor.
Let's head over to the Scarborough Arts table and see what our wonderful and creative workshops participants have shared as we unpack the Rice theme in "Cooking Up Feminism."
Soaking Rice & Lentils by Zeni
"I learnt this trick from an old, Tibetan women. People up in the mountains don't have access to too much variety, due to their remoteness. So I was advised, that if you just put a little bit of daal (lentils) in the rice, it makes such a difference to the taste, as well as the quantity. Similarly, it goes the other way. If you're making daal and you put just a tablespoon of rice in it, it makes the daal really, really good."
Herbs & Spices for a healing Pulao by Zeni
"I had a family member that was really sick, and this is the kind of food my mother used to make for us when we were sick. It's really affordable, and it's very tasty. It's like a Pulao, but not the heavier kinds, and it's not Khichri either, it's somewhere in between. It's a Pulao but for when you're not feeling well. It's not very showy, but it tastes really yum! It's lovely to just eat it with your hands." ~ Zeni (Workshop participant, Cooking Up Feminism)
A variety of Rice based dishes by Lady P with edible centre pieces and ornamentation.
Lady P cooked up a storm in her kitchen bringing us multiple Rice based dishes that she grew up eating and feeding her family.
"I made fried, wholegrain rice. I decorated the rice with roasted peppers. On top of that I roasted some mushrooms and put them on the skewer. Whole grain has to be cooked for a long time, because it's natural rice. In the other dish behind the fried rice, I have some colourful rice. I had a pepper from my garden and I stuck it in there. We have some vegetables here, Jamaican Callaloo as well as roasted chicken. Jamaicans make a lot of Callaloo, especially with rice. I also decorated the table with fruits, like apples and pomegranates just in case someone wants to put the pomegranate or apples in their rice, or squeeze some lemon over it. I also made some rice pudding which is usually eaten with a dollop of yogurt."
Ann Marie instantly recognizes a drink placed intentionally in the background of the dishes on display. Lady P always finds a way to include a food product that honours her Jamaican heritage in some way. "Lady P, wow, how did you find time to cook all of these wonderful dishes and when can I come by to eat? Also, don't forget to save me a Red Stripe." Lady P, and our entire group erupts into laughter. "Oh, I placed the Red Stripe there intentionally. I went into my storage room, grabbed a Red Stripe and said, why not? You know, in the islands, when you're eating, you always want a beer or two as well."
"There are so many varieties of rice out there that we can cook, harvest and share. It's important to know where they're coming from and why. I've bought a little bit of black rice recently, and I'm going to cook it up next time."
"Rice Fields Forever" will continue over Part 2. We can't wait to see what the other participants are bringing to the table.
All of the recipes and stories we share in "Cooking Up Feminism" will be published in a unique cookbook by Scarborough Arts, available to the public in 2023, so stay tuned. Bookmark our blog and follow along. Thank you for your support.

Ancient Culinary Wisdom
âAs too in the case of food, we do not right away believe things that are scarce to be absolutely more pleasant than those which are abundantâ
From an Ancient Roman Scroll
***********
Things that are rare or scarce are often perceived as more valuable or desirable than things that are plentiful.
Scarcity or uniqueness can hold a special significance or power in the realm of spiritual or philosophical understanding.
The "principle of correspondence" is the belief in the interconnectedness of the material and spiritual worlds.
Uncommon or hidden knowledge can be more valuable and insightful than what is readily available or easily understood.
There is a deeper metaphysical truth about the nature of value, perception, and knowledge that encourages individuals to delve beneath the surface to uncover hidden or less apparent truths that may hold greater significance.
In esoteric culinary philosophy, it teaches the rarity and scarcity of certain ingredients or dishes.
In the realm of food and cooking, items that are harder to come by or less commonly found may be perceived as more precious or special than those that are readily available in abundance.
This perspective encourages a deeper appreciation for unique and uncommon culinary experiences, emphasizing quality over quantity.

My Astro Observations (Part 8)
đŤIf your Mercury, Mars, Rising placements are water or earth influenced, you probably prefer that your phone is on silent or DND đŁď¸If your Mercury, Mars, Rising placements are air or fire influenced, you probably don't mind your phone being loud af đ
âď¸Natives with their Mars in Libra grew up taking the role of the "mediator" in their family or other environments. It is observed that when people around them seem to disagree or experience conflict, they ask this native to pick a side rather forcibly at times. This might lead them to develop people-pleasing tendencies. It's also the "lawyer at heart" placement.
đAquarius men usually look awkward in photos so they just decide to throw their signature smirk in there from time to time (ex. Ashton Kutcher, Joseph Gordon-Levitt)
đĽľMars in Aries natives' physical bodies react so dramatically to stimuli it's hilarious! I know someone with that placement that, whenever he eats food that is just SLIGHTLY spicy, his head starts sweating like he jogged for 2 hours! Another friend of mine, has this thing where every time she laughs for a bit longer than needed her eyes will fill with tears. But I'm talking BUCKETS of tearsđ
đŞYour 9th house sign represents your philosophy in life. But your 10th house sign represents your life motto.
For example: My 9th house is in Pisces, I do have a humanitarian outlook at the end of the day and I'm deeply spiritual My 10th house is in Aries, my life motto is "Fortune Favours The Bold". Self-explanatory. My philosophy: â¨đŽ My motto: đšâď¸
đ¨âđłI've noticed that men with Virgo placements, one way or another, like to practice their culinary skills. They won't let you lift a finger in the kitchen and this is a way for them to show their love for you. Also, they're usually specialists when it comes to food or wines/alcohol in general
đď¸I have never met a Leo sun, moon, rising that owns a vehicle and has NOT received a speeding ticket before! Also why do you have 0 patience? And you end up driving clumsily! Leave that one to Aries please đ
đšIf one of your dominant planets is Mars or Pluto, you probably literally get high off horror content. Either films , books...horror subredditsđ. You just love being thrilled, especially Mars, you like to chase the andrenaline. And you don't even care if you won't be able to sleep at night. It was worth itđ Honourable mentions: Mercury-Pluto , 8H Mercury , Scorpio Mercury
đ¤If your natal Black Moon Lilith makes hard aspects (conjunction, square, opposite) to your personal planets (especially luminaries, sun and moon) you were born to be the Black Sheep. It's easy for you to stand out in the crowd, usually because you are not afraid to embody your "dark" wisdom. You might be minding your business yet your authenticity can deeply trigger people. This placement attracts envy and obsession, be it acquaintances or lovers. Beware of stalkers. One pro though, is that, you can be immaculate when it comes to manifesting.

Cushioned Affections
Gale x Astarion x F!Tav
Warnings: Poly relationship discussion; insecurity; mention of past relationship abuse
Synopsis: Tav is tired of waiting for Astarion to make his move, so she allows Gale to make his first. But will that put an end to her and her favorite vampire spawn?
Author's Note: I'm a day late, I know, but this fic is for the BG3 Holiday Fluffle 2023, hosted by @justporo with the prompt "Getting Cozy"!
The chill that had settled over many of your nights in the last few months was slowly creeping its way into your days, infiltrating you and your motley crew through brisk winds that could cut through any armor and lay clothes, chilling you all to your very bones. The campfire became the favorite place of every one of your traveling companions - even Astarion, who usually preferred to observe the groupâs frivolities from the entrance of his tent. But this evening, the aloof vampire had firmly wedged himself between you and your resident wizard, Gale, on one of the logs in front of the roaring flames.Â
âThereâs a perfectly clear spot next to Laeâzel, you know.â Gale mumbled, clearly unhappy with the current seating arrangements.Â
âThat seat could get me decapitated and I personally prefer to keep such beauty soundly attached, thank you very much.â Astarion replied haughtily, turning his nose up at the wizardâs suggestion before scooting closer to you, affronted.Â
âRightly assumed, spawn.â Laeâzel spat, not so much as glancing up from her soup bowl.
âHah!â Astarion exclaimed triumphantly, sending a taunting expression Galeâs way as he wrapped his shawl tighter around his already cold body.Â
âWell, Iâm very glad youâve joined us tonight, Stari.â you said, opening your arm to him and allowing him to snuggle close, a relieved sigh escaping his lips as your warmth enveloped him. âAnd Gale, thank you so much for the wonderful meal. I always forget I'm sleeping on the ground when you fix your soup.âÂ
The compliment settled in Galeâs cheeks as they tinged pink and a smile graced his lips for the first time since Astarion had forced the two of you apart. âWhy thank you, Tav.â he sent a charming smile your way over the mess of white curls between you. âYou flatter me too much.âÂ
âYes, she does.â Laeâzel replied curtly, although she made no effort to hide her empty bowl.Â
âNah, this shitâs awesome, Gale.â Karlach piped up, already filling up her bowl for the third time. âAnybody need a warm-up?âÂ
âMe, if you would, Karlach.â Shadowheart passed her bowl across the fire to the tiefling, who grabbed it enthusiastically and held it between her palms as the flames beneath her skin crackled and popped to life for a few seconds before simmering down again. The contents of the bowl were now steaming as Karlach passed it back over to Shadowheart, who let out a pleased groan when the warmth hit her fingertips.Â
âThank you all.â Gale said, a pleased smile on his lips. âIâm glad I could deliver a measure of culinary satisfaction to our treacherously meager living accommodations.âÂ
âDarling, just say âthank you for the dick-strokingâ and be done with it.â Astarion drawled, his eyes having lazily fallen closed once your fingers had wound their way into his hair.Â
âIâll have you know,â Galeâs voice rose as he spoke over Karlach and Shadowheart who had burst out laughing., âMy honed verbosity is one of the most prevalent things that earned me a place as one of the most well-respected voices of wisdom in Waterdeep, and beyond.âÂ
âOh yes, it was your tongue; of that Iâm certain.â Astarion murmured, half asleep, and you bit down on the inside of your lip to keep the giggle from escaping as Karlach and Shadowheart descended into fits of cackling once again, while Laeâzel allowed the ghost of a smile to cross her lips. You even noticed Wyll choking back a chuckle over his soup.Â
Gale shook his head disapprovingly, and you thought things may have gone too far until an amused smile crept across the wizardâs face and he shot you a quick glance with mirth dancing in his eyes. You smiled back at him, the chill of the evening all but melted away in the presence of your unlikely group of friends.Â
After the fire had long since died, and many of your companions had retired to their own bedrolls in the shelter of their tents, you helped Gale clean up around the campfire, stacking bowls in on each other - deciding to wait for the warmth of the sun before taking them to the river to wash them out - and gathering the extra blankets to hoard for personal use.Â
Astarion sat idly by, book in hand, while you both worked, only looking up from the pages and stretching languidly when you paused in front of him. âWell, darling, are you ready to hide away and curl up in our own little cocoon for the evening?â he cooed, batting his long eyelashes at you demurely.Â
âCome on, Astarion, just say youâre desperate for a cuddle and be done with it.â Gale appeared over your shoulder smiling, pleased to have been given the chance to throw the words back in the vampireâs face.Â
âActually,â you stepped in front of Gale and swatted at him playfully. âGaleâs got a new volume of that Dark Elf tales Iâve been reading as of late, and he wanted to read a few chapters with me before we went our separate ways. Would you like to join us? I know how much you enjoy those stories.â
Astarion chortled dismissively, rolling his eyes. âI think Iâd prefer freezing to death than getting anywhere near the âwizard of Waterdeepââs personal stash.âÂ
You sighed, shrugging your shoulders and turning away. âYour choice. Iâll see you back in my tent afterwards either way. Although,â you pause, flipping your hair over your shoulder to match his dramatics. âIt will be much warmer in Galeâs tent because we currently have all of the extra blankets. I do hope youâll reconsider.â you teased, mimicking the vampireâs tonal lilt as you hoisted a few of the remaining blankets over your shoulder and walked off. In a few long strides, you caught up with Gale, who was struggling with his own bundle of blankets.Â
âDo you think heâll drop by?â his voice came out muffled, his face fully blocked from your vision by a mountain of fluff.
A giggle bubbled out of you, and you patted some of the blankets away from his eyes. A muffled âthank youâ reached your ears. âI donât know, but I hope so. I do wish he didnât keep to himself so often; he shouldnât be alone. But he has to choose to let in the warmth himself - and not just mine.â Gale nodded quietly - a rare occurrence - and led the way to his tent.Â
You were ceaselessly amazed by the sheer number of books Gale Dekarios was able to keep with him; shelves upon shelves lined with volumes - everything from A Comprehensive History of Waterdeep to The Practicality of Learning the Weave and more - just waiting to dazzle you with the wonders inside. However, the books that caught your eye were front and center, at a perfect height for you - done intentionally, you had no doubt - was the Dark Elf trilogy, finally completed with a stunning hardback edition of Sojourn with a beautifully crafted image of the drow himself gracing the book jacket.Â
âGods, Gale, wherever did you find it?â you murmured softly, stroking the spine tenderly.Â
"Ah, a wizard never reveals his secrets. But letâs just say, I do still have some influence in some of the cities weâve passed through thus far, and was able to get my hands on a nice copy, just for you."
You clutched the book to your chest, beaming up at him from where you stood. "Thank you, Gale. Shall we read?" His heart skipped a beat, he thought, as he nodded and sat down amidst his pile of pillows and blankets and you settled in between his legs, your back pressing warmly against his chest as his arms wrapped around your front before his mind could even catch up with him.Â
âAre- are you sure you and Astarion are just friends?â the words slipped from his lips and he cringed at himself, a large part of him fearing the question would bring you to your senses and heâd lose this intimate connection heâd found with you.
âNo, Iâm not.â you admitted softly and his heart dropped into his stomach, his arms wrapping tighter around you in anticipation of the loss. âBut Iâve told him that I have feelings for you too, and Iâve told him that while Iâm patient enough to wait for him, he needs to tell me to wait for him before I will. IâveâŚâ you paused, sniffling a little as the emotions welled up inside of you. âIâve had my heart broken a lot by being led on, or by waiting for people who, in the end, chose someone else; someone more-âÂ
âHey, shhh donât do that.â Gale whispered in your ear, planting a chaste kiss there and squeezing you tight. âYouâre plenty enough as you are, alright?â You nodded, breathing deep before continuing.
âI told him how much I care for him, and how much Iâd like to have more with him. But I was also honest and told him how much I care for you, so Iâll tell you what I told him. If you need time, tell me to wait for you. Hopefully youâll listen.â you mumbled the last part so softly that Gale could have missed it if he hadnât been paying attention. But your words, your touch, your presence was his whole world right now, and he couldnât possibly miss the sadness and longing left hanging in the air once you fell quiet.Â
âWell⌠I hope heâll come around soon. But in the meantime, I donât need to wait. I know my answer right now.â he murmured against your ear, reveling in the shudder that traveled the length of your spine in his hold. You turned your head just enough to lock your penetrating gaze with his, waiting for him to say the words. You wouldnât settle for interpretations; not any longer. âI care for you, greatly, Tav. And if you find it in that beautiful heart of yours to save a place for me, Iâd gladly reside there for the rest of my days.âÂ
âGale,â you whispered, your eyes clouding over with unshed tears of relief that flooded you like a sudden storm. He caught the emotions with his lips on yours, alleviating some of the weight of the emotional burdens that you had carried with you for all too long, and a sob escaped into his mouth. He swallowed the pain and lapped it up with his eager tongue, desperate to comfort your aching soul as his hands explored your body. You moaned softly into the kiss before pulling away, a little giggle leaving your lips as you nuzzled into his neck. You bit your bottom lip, your smile threatening to overtake the rest of your face as Gale's hands ran the lengths of your arms and back. "We're supposed to be reading." You chuckled, and Galeâs own laughter rumbled through your body in response.Â
"Then let us read, my sweet." He pressed a kiss to your temple and plucked the book from your hands, opening it to the first page before conjuring a few mage hands to do the rest while he wound his arms tightly back around you and began to read aloud.Â
You had enjoyed several chapters of the book together when a shadow moving outside caught your attention. You silenced Gale with a hand held in the air, your body tensing as you reached for your sword.Â
"Uhm⌠hello?"
The soft, tentative voice coming through the flap had your muscles relaxing immediately. "Astarion," you exhaled in relief and pulled the tent flap open. He stood there in little more than his ruffled undershirt and pants, shivering ever so slightly from the cold; his eyes a catastrophic blend of hope, fear, and vulnerability as they locked onto you. "Oh gods, Stari, come in here, you're freezing!" You fussed worriedly, opening your arms to him like you so often did, and you didn't miss the sudden ease of his sharp facial features as he gave in to your embrace, pulled to it like a moth to a flame, and settled into your arms like he belonged there. He did belong there.Â
You walked backwards, enough to seal the tent flap behind the elf, before your fingers found his curls as they always did, and he sighed happily as you scratched his scalp. He nuzzled closer to you, his icy cold nose finding a home in the nape of your neck as you calmed him. "I'm so glad you came." You mumbled into his hair and he merely hummed in response, pulling you flush against him and trailing his hands up and down your spine. After several quiet moments of quiet repose in each other's arms, you pulled back enough to look Astarion in the eyes.Â
"I-" He spluttered, his gaze flicking to Gale then back to you. "I really wanted to get a look at this book of yours, Gale. As Tav said, I enjoy the dark drow stories myself." He brushed some wrinkles out of his white shirt awkwardly and you took the opportunity to shoot Gale a deadly glare. Play along, it said. Or else.
"Of course." Gale chirped, trying to sound as casual as possible. "Well, it truly is a beauty, isn't it Tav?"
"Definitely." You smiled in silent thanks and reached for Astarion's hand, pressing the pad of a finger into one of his and allowing him to do the rest. "Come on. We're on chapter 5, but I'll give you a summary of what's happened so far." You sat down beside Gale, and Astarion beside you, and you launched into the details of what Astarion had missed in the first five chapters, forgetting the world around you and all of its present dangers: the tadpoles, the mindflayers, the Absolute, all of it, and diving into the adventure yet again. Gale glanced over at the new visitor in his tent, initially with dubiosity; he'd had no intention of sharing you if that's what it came down to. However, his resolve wavered ever so slightly once he took in the vampireâs face as he looked at you. Gale didn't know Astarion could even look like that: his features softened, the harsh lines and wrinkles missing from his pale face, and his eyes wide with wonder and- Gale paused, realization slamming into him at full force as the vermillion glint of the vampire's eyes in the candlelight revealed his secrets. Gale recognized that look. It was the same look he had in his eyes when he looked at you.Â
Love.Â
And as he watched, Gale saw the same look in your eyes, no matter which man they were trained upon. "Godsdamn it." He thought. "What in the hells am I going to do?"Â
"That's all that's happened so far." You clapped your hands together as you finished catching Astarion up. "Shall we continue?" You turned your head to Gale who said nothing, only nodded and prepared to cast another set of Mage Hands.Â
"W-wait, for a moment." Astarion stopped him hesitantly. "I'd- well, I'd like to say something first, Tav."Â
"Oh, of course." You looked back at him, your eyes wide and curious.Â
"I've been thinking about this for awhile, but I never really knew how to put it into words. However, I- ugh this is so ridiculously awkward with the wizard here too." He buried his face in his hands.Â
"I can leave for a moment if you-"
"Gods. No, it involves you, sit down." Astarion huffed, waving his hand in Gale's direction.Â
"Very well." Gale remained as he was, perched precariously on a pillow, his full attention on the vampire spawn.Â
"I've realized lately that, that I've never had someone who cares for me before - not that I can remember, anyway. And no one that could possibly measure up to you." He said the words to your fingers, which he had wrapped up in his own and was fiddling with tenderly in his lap. "I don't want to lose you, but I didnât know how to tell you so, even when you told me how. It didn't feel quite right, it didn't fit. But I can say it now." He tilted his head up and met your eyes steadily. "I care for you, Tav. I- I need time to process whatever this is between us. But I don't want you to think I don't want you, because I do. And, if that package comes with a certain pompous wizard," he leveled Gale with a humored smirk. "Then I believe I could be alright with that arrangement. As long as he plays by the same rules we do, that is."Â
Gale shot you a quizzical look. "You have to be patient and respect all of his boundaries." You explained, and Galeâs face fell into a sorrowful understanding.Â
"Of course I would respect your wishes, Astarion. I may be the victim of some over-active hubris, a wildly inconvenient condition, and an intellect much larger than my single head can contain, but I am not a man without respect and understanding."Â
"So⌠by all of that you mean yes." Astarion quipped and Gale chuckled.Â
"Yes, Astarion, I mean yes."Â
"Wait, hold on a moment." You sat up on your knees between them, looking back and forth at the two men you'd come to love so much, settling on the wizard. "Gale, are you saying you'd be alright with a 3 person relationship? I didnât know that was something you'd ultimately agree to."Â
"No definite answers yet. I'm working on it. Much like Astarion, the thought of being without you is slowly proving too much to bear. And perhaps having you around won't be too bad in the end, Astarion."Â
"Oh thank you kindly for those inspiring compliments, Gale." Astarion rolled his eyes, but the growing smile on his lips told the truth of his thoughts on the matter, and you squeezed his hand with a sudden giddiness.Â
"Anytime." Gale made a mock bow before sitting back down in the mess of pillows. "Now, are we going to read or shall I kick you both back out into the cold?" His mage hands appeared and he handed them the book.Â
"You wouldn't!" You gasped playfully, scooting closer to him.
"Yes, yes, you're right, I wouldn't. Come here, both of you. If you're going to see the drawings you'd better get close." You resumed your place between Gale's legs and opened your arms to Astarion, who crawled in between yours and curled up against your chest like a cat, his head resting on your shoulder, glancing up at the book every now and again to admire the artwork, then planting tender kisses along your jawline before settling back into you.Â
After several chapters more and an hour had gone by, Astarion purred softly against your chest while Gale rubbed your arm with one hand and Astarion's back with the other. Your hands were where they often found purchase - amidst soft white curls that were as light as air to your touch - , massaging small circles on the elf's head as he dozed, and you didnât know how you could possibly be happier. You sighed blissfully, allowing your eyes to finally fall closed.Â
"Goodnight Gale, goodnight Astarion." You mumbled, already halfway gone.Â
"Goodnight, Tav." Gale whispered in your ear as you faded into a euphoric sleep, curled up between the men you loved; the men who loved you; the men who could possibly one day learn to love each other.

alhaitham x reader! fluff
đ in which you give your hard-working boyfriend a little treat!
i saw this reel on instagram from this old movie, and i wanted to write with haitham > <
this is just a little something ive just written and wanted to post until im done with the professor alhaitham x cam girl reader fanfic on AO3.
enjoy <3
The study room in Alhaitham's house was quiet, lit by the soft glow of candles and infused with the faint scent of parchment and ink. Books and scrolls were stacked high on wooden shelves, their wisdom stored for those who had the patience to uncover it. You stood in the middle of it all, a bit nervous but determined, as Alhaitham sat at his desk, eyes flicking between his book and you.
He glanced up, his calm demeanor never faltering, though the subtle arch of his brow hinted at his curiosity. You had promised him something âinteresting,â yet the stoic scholar didnât seem entirely convinced. His grey-green eyes tracked your every movement, sharp and discerning, as though he was already analyzing what you were up to.
You moved towards the bookshelf, your fingers brushing over the spines of ancient tomes. âAlhaitham,â you called softly, a small smile tugging at your lips, âIâm going to show you something. Something... yum - yumâ
His brow furrowed slightly. "yum-yum ?" he repeated, his voice calm but laced with skepticism. âAre we discussing a culinary experience now, or is this another metaphor?â
You smirked, your heart racing as you took two hefty volumes from the shelf and set them on the floor before him. You stepped up onto them, your brows furrowing when you didn't reach his height even with those two books and quickly pulled a third, placing it on top, you smileâ raising yourself just high enough so you were at eye level with him, towering over him ever so slightly. You allow your arms to rest on his shoulder as you smile at him.
"Standing on books?" Alhaithamâs tone shifted to one of mild reproach. âBooks are meant for reading, not as makeshift platforms. You shouldnâtââ
Before he could finish his protest, you leaned down and pressed your lips gently to his, silencing him. The kiss was brief, just a soft brush that left a spark between you. You pulled back, watching for his reaction. His usually composed expression faltered for a moment, eyes blinking as if trying to make sense of what just happened.
âNow, thatâs what Iâd call a âyum,ââ you teased, leaning down again, this time with more intent. Another kiss followed, a bit deeper, your fingers brushing against his cheek. Alhaithamâs posture remained composed, but you could feel the tension in him. He wasnât used to losing control or being caught off guard. Yet, something in the way he responded, the way his lips hesitated before moving with yours, hinted that he was hardly unaffected.
âCurious,â he murmured, his voice softer now, though still measured, âbut hardly an efficient use of time.â
You grinned, enjoying his resistance to giving in fully. âYou havenât seen the real âyum yumâ yet.â
Before he could utter another word, you kissed him againâthis time fully. Your arms wrapped around his neck, and Alhaitham, though reserved, let out a quiet breath of surprise. His hands hovered near your waist, uncertain but not entirely refusing the embrace. The kiss deepened, both of you losing yourself in the moment as the world outside the study seemed to disappear.
You pressed against him, causing him to lean back until you both collapsed onto the couch behind him. The fall was gentle, cushioned by the plush fabric, and you found yourself on top of him, your body pressed against his, lips still locked in a fervent kiss. His usual aloofness was melting away, though not entirely. His hands found your waist, fingers brushing your sides with an almost tentative touch, as if testing the waters, reluctant to lose control entirely but no longer pushing you away.
When you finally pulled back, both of you were slightly breathless. His eyes, sharp and intelligent, bore into yours, studying you with a mixture of curiosity and something elseâsomething unspoken.
âYou know,â he said in his usual low, smooth voice, though there was a new, subtle edge to it, âI wasnât expecting this when you promised something... interesting.â
You laughed softly, your forehead resting against his, feeling the warmth of his breath against your lips. âMaybe you should expect the unexpected more often, Alhaitham.â
He regarded you for a long moment, his sharp gaze unwavering. "Perhaps," he replied with a slight quirk of his lips, a rare expression that could almost be called a smile. "But donât make a habit of standing on my books.â
With a soft laugh, you kissed him again, knowing full well that youâd already won this round.

Holaaa can I request another Mbappe imagine where youâre married to Kylian but somehow his family never noticed that you donât drink. While youâre at his parentâs house and his mom offers you wine you told her no thanks. And she got a mini heart attack thinking you were announcing that youâre pregnantđ
I hope you like it, sweetheart â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
Problematic beverage| Kylian MbappĂŠ x Fem Reader
Summary: To commemorate you and Kylian's last night in France you decide to have a farewell dinner, but one drink will set off alarm bells among all the guests.
Warnings: English is not my first language, and I am not a doctor so some medical information might be wrong.Â
As I indulged in a tranquil shower and meticulously selected my attire for the upcoming occasion, a sense of gratitude washed over me knowing that the celebration would be held at my mother-in-law's residence. While venturing out to explore new culinary delights with Kylian was a beloved pastime, today, the allure of a cozy night at home held greater appeal.
Since the morning, I had been grappling with slight abdominal discomfort, but it was the violent expulsion of my breakfast that sent alarm bells ringing. A sigh escaped my lips, a reflexive response to the familiar discomfort that had plagued me since childhood. From a young age, I had endured sporadic bouts of stomach pain, often coinciding with stressful events like ballet competitions or pivotal exams.
My mother, recognizing the pattern of discomfort over time and the occasional severity of the pain, decided to seek medical advice. It was then confirmed by the doctor that I was suffering from chronic pancreatitis. Fortunately, this diagnosis did not thwart my aspirations nor impede my plans. Nevertheless, there were limitations imposed by my condition, one of them being the prohibition of alcohol consumption.
I vividly recall the bewildered expression on my face when the doctor delivered the news that alcohol was off-limits due to its potential exacerbation of my condition. Despite having never partaken in revelry or imbibed alcohol, I comprehended its central role in youthful socialization. I anticipated feeling excluded and feared it would hinder my ability to forge friendships. However, fortune smiled upon me as I found companions who reveled in diverse activities, such as leisurely picnics punctuated by impromptu art sessions and beach outings adorned with sunset photography. While occasional forays into nightlife did occur, they were infrequent. Moreover, my aversion to alcohol transcended mere medical necessity; it stemmed from a profound apprehension regarding its transformative effects on individuals, a sentiment that prompted a steadfast commitment to abstention.
I crossed paths with Kylian at a charity gala where young French athletes, each with an inspiring tale to share, were invited to engage with children and organize activities, with the proceeds earmarked for various charitable causes. His speech resonated deeply with me, capturing both his pride and underlying sense of unease at being in the spotlight. His exact words, etched in my memory, were: "It's in these moments that I often feel out of place because, despite many of you seeking wisdom from me, it's I who must truly learn from all of you and your resilience in the face of adversity." Fortunately, I also captured his attention. When my presentation concluded, he couldn't resist approaching me, ostensibly to delve deeper into my world as we leisurely meandered through the buffet arrayed by the gala's organizers.
His heart nearly skipped a beat when I declined his offer of wine, yet my reassuring smile assuaged his concern as I disclosed my health condition, explaining the potential ramifications of alcohol consumption. Eager to learn more about me, Kylian exhibited a genuine interest in every facet of my life: from my ballet classes and training regimen to the nuances of my medication routine and anything remotely connected to me. Thus, a swift friendship blossomed between us, evolving into a profound romantic bond over the course of just a few monthsâa connection I wouldn't trade for anything in this world.
Four years ago, when we embarked on our relationship, we were both young and full of energy. Kylian, in particular, made the most of his free time by hanging out with friends, often leading to lively gatherings. Despite this, Kylian maintained a sense of discipline and restraint when it came to alcohol consumption. Instances of indulgence were typically reserved for national festivities or significant triumphs for his team or the national squad. However, everything changed when he met me. Suddenly, I became his top priority.
Kylian's transformation was profound. He meticulously documented all of my medications in a calendar, ensuring that I adhered to my prescribed regimen. If he couldn't be present when I needed to take my medication, he set an alarm to remind me. Additionally, he curtailed his social outings significantly, and on many occasions, he refused to attend events if I couldn't accompany him. When we did venture out together, our excursions were brief, as Kylian was adamant about not subjecting me to any discomfort.
On our wedding day, Kylian solemnly declared that his every decision would revolve around me, promising never to take any action that didn't prioritize my well-being above all else.
Thankfully, my illness never prevented me from attending any of Kylian's games. He cherished my presence, considering me his "lucky charm." It was through these matches that I had the pleasure of meeting my in-laws, whom Kylian introduced me to after one such game. As the Ligue 1 season progressed, so did my relationship with his parents, and I couldn't help but feel blessed by the bond we shared. Kylian's parents took immense pride in their son's career, and when I mentioned my occasional ballet performances, they eagerly pledged their attendance at my next show. This promise was fulfilled a few months ago when I took to the stage, greeted by the sight of my partner and his parents in the audience.
The decision to depart from France proved to be a challenging ordeal for both of us. It was a place that held significance for each of us individually; for Kylian, it was where he found trust and unwavering support, particularly during his darkest moments. Likewise, for me, it served as the backdrop for my personal and artistic growth, particularly in my beloved pursuit of ballet. However, I was acutely aware that leaving France would entail a narrowing of job prospects, given that few other nations accorded dance, especially ballet, the same level of priority.
Thus, when Kylian broached the idea of a modest gathering to mark the conclusion of a significant chapter in our lives, I couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation. Initially slated to unfold at a private restaurant in the heart of Paris, a venue Kylian frequented with his friends and where he once celebrated his maiden PSG paycheck, the plans swiftly shifted. Sensing my discomfort on the eve of the event, Kylian promptly altered course, opting instead to host the gathering at his mother's residenceâa more proximate locale to our abode. Here, I could seek respite in the guest room if my discomfort intensified, shielded from any prying eyes or unwelcome scrutiny.
With a sense of urgency, I hastened to complete my preparations, summoning Kylian to assist with the delicate task of fastening the gray satin dress adorning my frame. His admiring whistle upon beholding me in the garment, accompanied by the endearing epithet "my beautiful woman," served to ignite a flutter of warmth within me, intensified by the tender kiss planted upon my collarbone.
As we stepped into my mother-in-law's abode, she greeted me with an exuberant embrace, sharing how she had procured my favorite appetizers and guiding me toward the others, while Kylian grumbled behind me, visibly "irritated" by his mother's preference for embracing me first. In response, I couldn't resist playfully sticking out my tongue.
Upon crossing the threshold onto the terrace, Kylian's friends extended warm welcomes. Kylian, ensuring my comfort and safety, opted to leave me engaged in a delightful conversation with Melissa and his mother.
"How are you, y/n? I was genuinely concerned when Kylian mentioned you weren't feeling well," Fayza remarked, her tone laden with worry.
"I've been better, but thankfully, at the moment, my discomfort is limited to stomach issues, so things are more or less manageable for now," I responded, seeking to allay their concerns.
"Well, y/n, do tell us. Have you managed to secure a place with any academy or instructor for your inaugural performance in Spain?" Melissa inquired eagerly.
"I've reached out to several, but I've had to turn down many options because they weren't the right fit for me. They seemed more interested in my relationship with Kylian than my craft. However, in recent days, I've connected with one that genuinely seemed invested in me, so let's hope this one pans out."
"Sweetheart, can I get you a glass of wine while you continue telling us about the move?" Fayza asked, retrieving a bottle from an ice bucket.
"No, it's okay. I can't have wine because of my condition," I replied with a smile, which quickly faded when I noticed everyone falling silent and Fayza dropping the bottle to the floor.
"When were you planning on telling us?" Ethan teased his brother.
"Telling us what, exactly?" Kylian asked, attempting to lock eyes with me for an explanation, but my cluelessness only heightened his concern.
"That y/n is pregnant," Fayza blurted out, barely able to overcome her shock.
"What?!" Kylian and I exclaimed, unable to shake off our bewilderment at his family's confusion.
"Yes, it all makes sense now: y/n's frequent vomiting, her occasional dizziness, her abdominal discomfort, and her abstaining from alcohol," Melissa exclaimed excitedly, envisioning her children having a cousin to play with.
"What? No, no, there's been a misunderstanding. I can't drink because of my illness, and Kylian and I... no, we're not planning for a baby right now," I explained nervously, seeking Kylian's confirmation of my statement.
"Exactly, as she said, for now, we won't know for three weeks," Kylian chimed in, attempting to lighten the mood with a joke, but his attempt fell flat when met with my glare of disapproval.
Gradually, the atmosphere returned to normal as Fayza apologized to both of us for her reaction. It wasn't that she didn't want grandchildren; she simply thought we had chosen to keep it a secret and would find out through the media when her son was abroad.
And so, we savored our final evening together, cherishing the memories to bring comfort in times of homesickness. However, Kylian couldn't help but hope that the next time we entered that house, it would be to announce a pregnancy.
