dogday x reader where reader has hanahaki? (heavy angst, I want to cry 👍🏼)
I'm a little rusty with Hanahaki disease stuff but sure! Coming right up
Trigger warnings: blood, death, Hanahaki Disease, just the whole shabang.
Requested by: milkcookiekin
Romantic/platonic?: neutral?
Category: angst. Heavy angst.
Ship (romantic or platonic): Dogday x reader
Word count: 453
A Flowery Scent
You hated it. You hated how much you loved Dogday, and how badly it hurt to know that he didn't feel the same. You adored his big eyes and his golden and orange fur, you loved the scent of vanilla he left on everything in his path including yourself. Vanilla was your favorite scent now.
You hated yourself for loving him, for making yourself experience the pain of flower petals growing inside your lungs and forcing you to hack them up just so you could breathe every time you thought of him and every time you were around him, it hurt so badly. Yet you couldn't blame him, he was oblivious to your feelings and your pain and it's not like he could take the pain away. It wasn't that easy.
He had a worried look in his eyes as he heard you hacking and forcing yourself to vomit with nothing in your stomach, looking up at you as he exited the bathroom with a flush to put it all down like your feelings. He spoke up softly. “Are you alright, Angel?” He asked, the petname making your heart flutter yet made it ache in pain as you held your breath to keep the petals down. “Of course, just a bit under the weather.” You brushed off.
You sat a few seats away from him, but close enough to where he wouldn't grow suspicious. The two of you talked before he sniffed the air and had an expression of puzzlement before he slowly got closer, sniffing you and blinking. “You smell.. different. Like, cherry blossoms. Are you using a new perfume?” He asked with obliviousness as your lungs tightened and swelled, yet you gulped down the feeling and chuckled dryly. “Yeah.. I thought it'd be nice to try something new. Y'know?” You cooed out softly, lying like a snake. He believed you and didn't ask further.
He wishes he did. Later that night, he was cleaning after dinner and heard you hacking again but this time in your bedroom. He grabbed a bucket with the quickness, assuming you didn't have time to make it to the bathroom to throw up. He opened the door and rushed over. “Angel, here. Are you..” his words drifted away from him as he saw the sight Infront of him, blood ruining the mattress and your clothes in heavy amounts. Your eyes cloudy with tears and your body still warm.
Vines crawling up your throat and around your face with cherry blossom petals stuffed in your mouth and face like a crime scene. He started panicking and ran towards you, picking your limp yet stiff body up as he shook you. “Angel? Angel please!”
His angel had fallen.
Thank you for requesting!

People like to judge those in history who didn’t have access to the medical knowledge we have now. It is very interesting to go back and read what our ancestors theorized caused various diseases and the strange and seemingly nonsensical treatments they proposed for it, and many times we, with all the knowledge in the world at our fingertips, wonder “how could they have ever thought this would work? Were they just wildly guessing? Did they test this? How could they be so confidently wrong when the right answer was so close?” And yet, in this age where we can type quite literally any question we could ever have into a little electronic box and produce an accurate answer along with access to the research that proves it, I still open my tumblr notifications every day and find someone recommending vegetables and bathing more frequently as a cure for scurvy.
#it’s a vitamin c deficiency. citrus. citrus fruit is how to prevent scurvy#and while we’re at it??? stop blaming the plague on medieval Europeans being dirty and ignorant#ITS A CONTAGIOUS DISEASE THAT PEOPLE STILL GET

how are people scared of bats :(
#theres a lot of misinformation about bats and it makes me sad :(#like did you guys know that despite bats being known for having rabies only 0.5% of bats actually do#and bats dont bite...not even vampire bats do#tho it is more reasonable to be afraid of vampire bats as the rabies rate is 10% and they do drink blood#but they only live in central and south america and mainly go after cows#and when bats swoop down at you theyre actually just eating the bugs that are trying to bite you#bats are actually really good for the environment too#if there werent any bats a lot of really good fruit wouldnt be able to grow#no bats? no mango banana guava avovados or tequila#and reduced amount of rice citrus strawberries coffee chocolate and cotton#people also study bats' echolocation to find new innovative ways to help blind people#and bats arent affected by many deadly diseases and they have a very low risk of cancer and their dna is similar to humans#this means that bats could possibly be the key to curing cancer as well as slowing down the progression of aging#and by that i mean that it could delay the symptoms of getting older#such as aches and pains memory issues risk of certain diseases and physical changes#idrc about changes in appearance that much but its interesting#anyways

for me my meds are like my cane: i would like to not need them, but in my case they are objectively a net positive (i know this isn't the case for everyone) and i will use them because i want and deserve to feel better.
and honestly even then i've evolved with my personal feelings on my usage of both. gone from not wanting to use them at all ever to being thankful i have them when i need them.
it's a crutch in the same way a cane—or a fucking crutch—is a crutch. if you tell me not to use my cane when i know i need it because "i need to learn not to use it" as if I hadn't BEEN doing that, you're getting thwacked over the head with it.
there's a difference between advocating for not IMMEDIATELY overmedicating people (which is good, 100%, jumping immediately to especially high doses of or generally potent medications which could be dangerous for someone is a shitty practice) vs. shaming people for taking medication at all and some of y'all would do well to learn it.
“if you take medication for that, you’ll be taking medication all your life!!” yeah, and?? bud, i already put on my glasses every morning. it’s like. a condition of mine, not a side hobby i’m pursuing irresponsibly.
