A lot has already been said about Good Omens. And I think the most beautiful thing about it is that, as WE, the fans, try to analyse it to make sense of the events that came to pass in the last episode of season 6, we're also learning a bit more of ourselves, through the lens and perspective of the different characters.
It's sort of a comfort movie, a kind of therapy and self-reflection. So here we are empathising and learning to hold space for the characters that we dearly hold close to our hearts. (More like brain rot, if you ask me.) For me, I've gained a better understanding of myself over these past weeks (oohh it's actually months now!)
And I think we'll keep going back to it until we make sense of Crowley's heartbreak (even the depth of him sauntering vaguely downwards) and Aziraphale's choices. As we continue to simply wish for Muriel to get their ineffable parents back together:)
Like can I also say there are so many layers to it? It's astounding, brilliant, and deserving of the word, ineffable. The genius of its writing—metaphors, imagery, symbolisms, easter eggs and most significantly, the integrity of the characters.
Because just when you think you've figured it out, you reread the book, rewatch the series, stumble through a TikTok video or Tumblr post, and you learn something new! Ineffably chaotic. Ineffably human. Ineffably curious!
So here's to the world and to the ineffable idiots' endgame, where they get to live together for all eternity in their garden of Eden, where Crowley no longer puts the fear of Crowley to his plants, books and books upon shelves scattered through the garden, and the Bentley parked underneath the Tree of Knowledge.
At night, they have a better view of the galaxy when the solar system finally gets moved to the centre of the universe.
Let there be light. Let there be a happy ending. 🪽🐍

True love is when you love the person as a whole. Even...
If he doesn't agree with you,
If he does silly things,
If he talks too much,
If he doesn't talk to you at all,
If he repeatedly embarrasses himself,
If he makes bad decisions,
If he comes with I-told-you-so,
If he asks the impossible,
If he acts like he doesn't care.
...
And if you do it right, he will look at you like you are the only one in the whole wide universe.

Even though I've only rewatched the first three eps, I'm thinking about the ending of Good Omens and the whole "Crowley being reinstated as an angel" thing because the miscommunication situation is heartbreaking.
When Crowley sees Aziraphale being so enthusiastic about him regaining his position as an angel, he sees it as Zira being desperate to change part of him, that everything will be okay so long as the traits that Crowley holds as a demon are gone. But Crowley doesn't want that. He just wants to be accepted for who he is and it's incredibly painful for him to see the one that he loves so enthusiastic to have an integral part of Crowley changed.
But the thing is, that isn't want Aziraphale wants. He doesn't want Crowley to become an angel because he's trying to "fix" him. Zira remembers how happy Crowley was when he was an angel, and wants to see that pure, unfiltered happiness that he lost post-fall back again. However, Aziraphale doesn't seem to realise that just because Crowley was happy then, it doesn't mean that he would be happy going back there.
And the whole situation is so painful to watch because it's two people (well not people but you know what I mean) who love each other so deeply that all they want is acceptance and happiness but because they don't just sit down and talk about things they're totally misconstruing each others intentions and wants.
Crowley wants to be loved just as he is, but he thinks that Aziraphale will only love him once he's changed. And Aziraphale does love Crowley for who he is, and he wants so desperately to bring him the happiness he once had, but he doesn't realise that going back to how things used to be isn't going to make that happen.
Tagging @nobody-expects-the-inquisitorius just in case they're interested :D
#also adding the fact that aziraphale isn't trying to get crowley reinstated as a way of “fixing” him#because he doesn't think that crowley needs to be fixed#he believes that crowley deserves to be an angel#but at the end of the day that isn't what will make crowley happy#because heaven dealt crowley a huge amount of trauma#and that trauma can't be healed in the way aziraphale thinks it can#their whole relationship is a mess#because their communication skills are so bad 😭#but I love the complexity of it all#I'm not a big fan of the miscommunication trope#but I find that this serious handles it well#good omens#ineffable husbands#crowley#aziraphale#crowley x aziraphale#aziracrow

Is anyone else really scared that Good Omens s3 will be cancelled and that you can't take any more cancellations (I am still heartbroken over ofmd) but at the same time you feel very guilty for that because you don't want people abusing their fame and power to get away with that without consequences? But you also don't want everyone else that has worked hard on that show to be punished for the misconduct of one person?
Because that is what I have been feeling like lately.
In conclusion:

It was over and they were finally safe. Now Aziraphale and Crowley are relaxing in their South Downs cottage garden, sitting on the bench together in the warm sunshine. Crowley has taken off his sunglasses and has his feet up on the little wooden table, a flute of champagne in his right hand and his left arm around Aziraphale's shoulders, holding him close. Aziraphale has his jacket off, bow tie and top shirt button undone. His shoes and socks are off and he can feel the grass under his bare feet. It reminds him of Eden, only better. He turns to gaze at Crowley with a big smile and they clink glasses. Crowley smiles back and for the first time there is no fear as they look into each others eyes. They gently start to kiss as the nightingale sings in the tree above them

I love the “Crowley look at Aziraphale’s eyes since it look like stars that he made” since Aziraphale’s eyes shift colors reminiscent of the Galaxy from the blues to gold to brown and even sometimes green. ‘Gorgeous’ as he would think when looking at Aziraphale’s hazel eyes like he look at the stars before and even sometimes now (though I do believe the headcanon that he can’t see the stars because of his snake eyes so looking at Aziraphale’s eyes is his only way).
Now I want to present you something, Aziraphale looks into Crowley’s yellow eyes not just because it his favorite color. But because it remind him of the sun and what he look forward to at any given time of the day; sure you can say he can look at the sun still but if you look too long it’ll burn your eyes. So why not look at the eyes that give you hope each day and what shape you as a person from the moment you laid your eyes on only your eyes won’t burn so look at the pretty color as much as you want like it was a sunrise or sunset.
(This was just an excuse to give them Astrological love as they not only deserve the World but the Galaxy. I love these two and the show.)

If Aziraphale does lose his memory ...
“I used to be like you are now, so innocent and pure, angel.” Crowley choked. This was the last thing he wanted, for Aziraphale to see him like this. Then he gently closed his eyes as Aziraphale held the burning sword above his head.
Crowley realized a while back that Aziraphale had lost all of the memories they made together the moment he stepped foot back in heaven. There was no going back from this. And Aziraphale will never forgive himself if he remembers. So he did the next right thing to do—stopping time.
“Promise me one thing,” he looked at straight into the Metatron’s floating head. “Aziraphale never remembers me when all of this is done.” He didn’t give the Metatron a chance to talk back and restarted time. After all, if Aziraphale remembers everything, who knows what he will do to Heaven. And that is something the Metatron wouldn’t want happening.
Crowley’s eyes drifted back into that moment in the bookshop. He slowly closed his eyes, carefully remembering every detail of Aziraphale’s being, no longer able to hold his tears. Aziraphale’s Archangel eyes bore deep into his soul. Almost. We had it almost. Angel.”
Aziraphale tightened his grip on the burning sword, watching the tears fall from the Demon’s yellow eyes. This Demon they talked about, he wondered why he was strongly bent on stopping the Second Coming. Why were the humans so important to him? But Heaven is never wrong and the Demons are meant to lose. The humans have had their run according to the ineffable plan.
Aziraphale held the sword higher in a stance, ready to banish the Demon Crowley for time and eternity when he heard that familiar voice on the back of his mind. “Almost. We had it almost.”
The Metatron stopped floating and went to stand beside Aziraphale, “Well, go on Aziraphale. Heaven’s victory is ours. And we can begin eternity.”
Michael and Saraquel were about to say something but the Metatron looked at them. Even Michael was questioning her intentions. This was all wrong she figured it out. She opened her mouth and was about to say something but she wasn't able to.
Crowley opened his eyes just to take a look at Aziraphale for the last time. When he did, for the first time in more than 6,000 years, he could see clearly. The veil has finally been lifted from his eyes.
Time stopped again. But not for Aziraphale and Crowley. And neither of the two noticed it.
Aziraphale’s memory came rushing back to him. “Almost. We had it almost.” Aziraphale began to sob.
Aziraphale finally remembered everything. From when he heard the first Archangel’s call out in the space to when he first saw him again as the Demon Crawley up until the time when Crowley’s kiss was all brand new. His angel heart shattered into a million pieces when he realized he wasn’t able to keep the promise he made when he left the bookshop. To protect Crowley. To correct heaven that they can finally be at ease together and just be an us. He can still see and hear Crowley's heartbreak.
The flaming sword fell halfway to the ground. A palm to his mouth. “Almost,” continued Aziraphale as tears began to flow from his eyes.
Every memory repeated back in his mind.
“Oh, Crowley. Please forgive me,” Aziraphale whispered, almost lost in the air.
No more, he thought. Faster than fast, he knelt down beside him and grabbed Crowley’s right hand in his left, pulled his collar and pulled him closer to him. Their lips met.
Aziraphale closed his eyes, and for the very first time of his entire existence, he let himself go. He kissed Crowley the way he wanted to kiss him back at the bookshop.
Crowley felt Aziraphale’s hand in his hair, gently pulling. He let go of Aziraphale’s hand and reached out to cup his face with his hands. Something he didn’t have the courage to do at the bookshop. Their tears continue to fall as Aziraphale pulled them even closer together.
Both desperate and yearning.
Hurting and healing at the same time.
The kiss went on until they were both grasping for breath. When they finally pulled away, Crowley was the first to speak before Aziraphale shamely gazed away.
“I forgive you.”
Aziraphale was about to say something when Crowley gently shook his head.
Crowley silently took Aziraphale’s hands and held on to them for dear life as they pressed their foreheads against each other.
“Well there they are again,” God thought to herself. A cheeky grin on her face as the nightingale on her shoulder started to sing. She could watch this forever but they all had work to do and an ineffable game to finish.
[Fast forward to something like this:]

i don’t think the coffee theory is correct. (the theory being that metatron tampered with the coffee in some way that explains aziraphale’s decision. i can’t find where it originated, but that seems to be the gist.)
narratively, this is MEANT to be a mistake aziraphale is making. it’s meant to be an awful moment of miscommunication that displays both of their flaws. it’s meant to show how difficult it is to leave, say, an abusive family or a cult—how the person you were running from can show you a hint of the kindness you were starved for all this time, the approval you were always denied, and you think “maybe this time will be different, maybe they understand now, maybe if i give them one more chance it will be better.”
aziraphale & crowley eventually overcoming this is how they will grow both individually and as a pair.
if ALL the blame for this choice falls on metatron, it also robs aziraphale of the opportunity to have made a mistake that he can then grow from. and maybe more importantly, the chance to reckon with the abuse and trauma he’s suffered.
don’t get me wrong, metatron IS manipulating aziraphale and surely knew that this would break him and crowley apart. i just don’t think he needed poison or a miracle to do it.
#good omens#good omens spoilers#go2 spoilers#meta#it’s about the GROWTH (character development)#anyway i could be wrong but that’s just my gut feeling#their fight at the end was brilliantly done#two seasons of development made this feel inevitable in the most excruciating and perfect way#of course aziraphale would say that#of course crowley would react that way#both of them wanting to be together so badly and wanting each other to be happy and safe#and having polar opposite ideas about how to make that happen#it makes so much sense and it’s agonizing#this is the sweeping love story they DESERVE

Tell Me A Story... Love Languages on my Ao3 (or, How Can We Hide the One Thing We Most Want to Say)
I love to analyize Good Omens, and I love to imagine in-universe possibilities for them. This one's a sweet-flirty-but-also-serious story inspired by my meta-analysis thoughts about A.Z. Fell & Co. Bookshop, Anything to Protect Crowley. Our Beloved Ineffables are always forced to do a dangerous dance in hiding their relationship from disapproving eyes. In this story, Crowley wants to surprise his angel with a gift, and Aziraphale wants to surprise his beloved demon in his own way.
Summary: It's the 200th Anniversary of A. Z. Fell & Co. Bookshop! Crowley loves making his angel happy, and has a unique gift to surprise him with, like he did when the shop opened in 1800 (GO deleted scene). Aziraphale's been thinking about how important Crowley is to him, and always has been, and has prepared a surprise of his own! Hidden under the adorably awkward flirting is a deep and serious bond that can't be denied. They've spent 60 centuries learning to read each other. When the words "I Love You" are forbidden and dangerous, it's still impossible for them to hide what each of them so desperately wants to say.

When Crowley thought he lost Aziraphale when the bookshop was on fire, he was distraught. Gutted. Crying. Lost. Angry.
^ In this scene, when Cowley looks toward the camera, you see tears.
When Aziraphale chose to go to heaven, Crowley was devastated, but not distraught. He knows this is temporary, and he hasn’t lost Aziraphale.
