“You go too fast for me, Crowley.”

It’d haunted him since Aziraphale had said it, and roared in Crowley’s ears as he’d watched the lift doors close. He had waited, waited for Aziraphale to change his mind, even after their final exchange; waited for the angel he knew so well to come to his senses and turn around, walk away from the Metatron, and come back where he belonged. He’d have driven them off at speeds central London could only have dreamed of, away from the Metatron, away from Heaven, away from Hell, somewhere the us that was Aziraphale and Crowley could have been safe and, whoever willing, maybe even happy. 

But the waiting had been in vain. The Bentley crawled away from the bookshop with no fight from Crowley: he had paid no attention to either the speed or the direction of the car, lost in an aimless numbness. When the car stopped, it had taken several moments and an impatient beep of the horn for Crowley to stir, and realize where he was. Grumbling vaguely at the car, he had made his way inside the building and to the door of his old flat, which he’dfound unexpectedly open. A note from Shax was on the entry table: All yours again. The door clicked shut behind Crowley, and it was only then that he broke down, crumpling to his knees with the sob he’d been holding in for so long, pounding his fists on the floor, and with a roar of rage and despair, winging his sunglasses across the room to smash against the wall.

He wanted to storm Heaven and bring Aziraphale back. He wanted to storm Hell, and demand their help. He wanted to burn down the bookshop and either erase every trace of Aziraphale, or summon him back to Earth. But amidst his chaotic thoughts, the demon knew that Aziraphale had made his choice, and whatever his reasons were, he’d had them. So again Crowley waited. He drank, watched old films he’d watched a dozen times before, slept away the hours and days and weeks that piled up like unwashed dishes in the sink of someone who couldn’t bring themselves to do them, despite a desperate desire. Once he even tried baking, but it reminded him too much of Aziraphale, and ended with the oven door slammed shut until the fire went out. Mostly he drank, and slept, and waited.

Now, Crowley stood at his fireplace, the crackling of the flames within distant as the moon as he leaned on the mantelpiece with one hand, gazing downward. In his hand was the photo Furfur had taken at Aziraphale’s magic show in 1941, showing angel and demon together onstage, about to perform a discorporation-defying feat of prestidigitation. It was somewhat faded with time and soft around the edges, but still showed its subjects as clearly as the day it had been taken. Suddenly the image rippled, as with a faint splish, a drop of water landed on it, obscuring Aziraphale’s face. With the back of his wrist, Crowley wiped his eyes roughly. He took a deep, shuddering breath and looked at the photo again, as the drop dissipated.

“I can’t wait for you anymore, Angel.”

The photo hissed and crinkled as it landed in the flames, disappearing in a plume of chemical smoke.

Queen songs I'd put in Good Omens 2 if I was in charge (aka Queen songs that would be a great edit on YouTube)

Not including the very well-known and well-loved 'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy' since I think everyone hopes to see that one—to my knowledge I don't think anyone has discussed the possibility of these ones.

The Great Pretender

A very Aziraphale song. I'd pair it with a scene where Aziraphale misses Crowley after rejecting him again - maybe post-1940's? Queen wasn't around then obviously but it would fit 🤷‍♀️ I just hope there isn't a breakup post-Apocolypse, I feel like we're passed that stage now. Maybe would have fitted better at some point in Season 1.

Too Much Love Will Kill You

Muriel or Gabriel (if he ever gets his memories back), possibly Aziraphale at a stretch. I'm picturing it with a lot of Heaven-or-Earth angst, struggling with a major change in worldview etc etc, maybe a stereotypical walk through busy streets in the rain.

Seven Seas of Rhye

EXCELLENT entrance music, maybe for Crowley or a big bad who wants to take over the world etc etc—Michael or Beelzebub, perhaps. I wouldn't go further than about a minute in, but the lyrics fit too well for me to leave it out.

Play The Game

Some kind of sweet moment between the Ineffable Husbands. I could see a scene where Muriel/Gabriel/Maggie/Nina are watching them and realise how much they mean to each other and in the case of Maggie or Nina, it maybe gives them the courage to stop holding back and stops playing hard-to-get. This would be a very very cute choice.

The Invisible Man

A big change from the previous one, but I could definitely picture Crowley getting up to mischief to this one and going unnoticed by everyone around him. I don't know if people are allowed to edit songs for TV, but if it's allowed I'd probably take out Freddie saying everyone's names since it wouldn't really make sense in a TV program. Maybe some clever cutting could fix that—cutting back and forth from Aziraphale doing something remarkably different with a classical music background would be hilarious.

The Show Must Go On

Definitely a 'moment where everyone gives up hope' kind of song, maybe over a montage, before someone figures something out or finds something that will fix their problems and give hope again.

I Want To Break Free

Definitely a much more popular song than most of the ones on this list, so it's very possible that this one has been discussed before, but I personally haven't seen it if it has. I think this one and 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' could be used interchangably to an extent.

Driven By You (technically just Brian May, but I say it counts)

An end credits/epilogue song if I've ever heard one. I'm still holding out hope that we'll see the South Downs cottage, so this would be a nice song to have with a moving-in scene or a settled-in-and-content scene. It would be lovely at any stage where the Ineffable Husbands are secure in their love for each other and just spending time being happy together and comfortable with 'their side'.

I’ve been a johnlocker for ages but never had Prime Video (and hence never watched Good Omens), but hearing how positively S2 went, I started watching S1 and it’s so beautiful! Am so happy to delve into S2 knowing that it’s a completely different vibe compared to S4 BBC. My broken heart can feel optimistic again <3

AHHHHHH I'm so happy you enjoyed Good Omens, and I am CONFIDENT you will LOVE S2! I PROMISE – no spoilers – while the ending hurts a LOT (like, "I want curl up and cry for 3 days" hurts) it's a TOTALLY different kind of hurt than the one I felt after Sherlock S4. I feel hope and optimism that we're getting a satisfactory ending with it should it continue into a guaranteed S3 (it's Amazon I don't have faith in right now, but they'd be STUPID to throw away one final season of their show that's been Trending for over a month now), and the cast, crew and showrunners aren't actively shitting on the fanbase so it just feels so different.

And if it doesn't continue on-screen, it ends at a point that COULD feel finished, but with an openendedness that allows for more in another medium in the future. And Gaiman has expressed on his blog that should it not renew, he will make a novel for the last season.

Either way, I am happy that YOU'RE happy again, Nonny!

GOOD OMENS SEASON 2 SPOLIERS AHEAD.

After waiting four years since season one I was ecsatic to finally watch season two and we got so many awesome features! Seeing Crowley before the fall, him and Aziraphale's first meeting? It was all so brilliant to be back in the world of good omens. I especially liked that they didn't do what a lot of franchises do and just forget character's past angers. When Crowley was alone with Gabriel, he was angry. He was still upset about finding out how Azirphale was really being treated and therefore told Gabreil how angry he was.

Now, let's talk about that ending. Whilst watching it? I was sobbing my eyes out, I mean full audible ugly sobs. Now? I'm just pissed. I'm so sick and tired of seasons of queer shows ending like this, there are far more depressing queer stories out there than happy ones and I'm sick of it. The ending of season two immediatley made me think of the ending of the first season of Our Flag Means Death. At least the gentlebeard kiss was a happy one! Aziraphale didn't kiss back and just looked upset and uncomofrtable afterwards. I agree with Crowley for the fact that I wouldn't want to associate withe Heaven or Hell, they're both corrupt and toxic and I think Crowley and Aziraphale simply living in the book shop together would have been a far more fitting ending. I think it would be possible for Aziraphale to even take the arch-angel job and still live in the book shop if he'd only have to travel up to Heaven for meetings and such, he wouldn't need to live there full time.

Whatever this season was, it was defintley not "Gentle and romantic" (unless of course you ship Gabriel and Beealzebub of course). And the thing is, The scene was written, acted and filmed BRILLIANTLY. The reference to the nightingale and the ending of season one? I have nothing against the talent behind the project I'm just upset at the ending. I'm tired of queer couples having sad endings, especially ships like ineffable husbands that I and countless other fans look to as a source of comfort.

However, despite all this I am still looking on the bright side. I saw someone say they think the Metanome did something to Azirpahle as he did not enjoy drinking coffee until that point. The look on Aziraphale's face when he was told about "The second coming" also made me think he was about to change his mind. I was surprised when he actually got into the elvator as I was practically screaming "Don't do it" over and over again at my TV. I really hope a season three is greenlit and will show us Aziraphale questioning his choice and hopefully resulting in a happy ending for him and Crowley.

david and michael gave an interview to PRIDE which I find quite interesting in itself but I still have no idea what to make of their answers. david's seems encouraging and then michael's dampens my hopes a little. it plays into that whole "this isn't a gay love story - this is a love story that everybody can relate to" thing straight actors do and which I always hate so much.

“He’s no longer having to toe the company line when it comes to being a demon,” Tennant tells PRIDE. “So he can sort of allow himself to be a little more honest about how he feels about some things and that can be quite challenging for him, but it also allows him to maybe confront some truths that he’s been denying.”

"You know at its heart, it is a story about love, I don’t think Neil [Gaiman] would want to shortchange that story in any way whatsoever,” adds Sheen on the possibility of romance in Aziraphale and Crowley’s future. “So [he] wouldn’t want it to be reductive in any way and wouldn’t want to put too many labels on that in any way, but to always have the possibility that in the most inclusive way possible, it can be a story that speaks of love to everybody who watches it.”

Ughhhh that’s disheartening. Straight people should shut the fuck up about this sort of thing forever and I mean that. They have no idea what it’s like to not ever see your sexuality represented, especially in your formative years when it’s most important. To them, the idea of “not having a label” is great and progressive because they’ve never needed a label—straight is seen as the default. To me as a homosexual, labels do matter. Because saying words like gay, lesbian, or homosexual out loud is often the only way to make it click for ignorant people. The types who see two women cuddling and think they’re “just such good friends!” Because heteronormativity is so engrained in their brains, that they don’t even consider homosexuality as a possibility.

If you want to have characters that are “inclusive” and “for everybody”, do it with a straight couple. As I’ve said so many times, there are so many straight couples of all kinds in media, so one being left up for interpretation won’t make a dent. But with gay couples? It’s like, 1-3 per genre (that are not always even healthy, happy, and alive). We simply aren’t at the point with gay representation where leaving same sex couples “up for interpretation” is a good thing. Especially when “up for interpretation” is usually code for bait or no-homo.

Not to mention, when you leave a gay couple “up for interpretation” instead of explicitly gay, you’re letting homophobes win. They don’t want to see gay couples. They’d absolutely love to look at the ineffable husbands and see them as just friends. Why give them that grace, instead of telling them “no, these characters are gay and in love with each other, you need to deal with that”?

What I’m trying to get at, is that no, having a gay couple be explicitly gay isn’t “reductive”. What’s truly “reductive” is allowing heteronormativity and homophobia to win by reducing same sex attraction to subtext, and allowing it to be interpreted as Not Gay.

I don’t understand why that isn’t obvious. It baffles me that people seem to think obscurity and vagueness is better than explicit gay representation. And it’s sad that this is coming from Sheen, who seems to get so much right about Aziraphale and homosexuality. At the end of the day he’s straight, so I guess that’ll always show through eventually.

My current hyperfixation with Obikin started in the run up to the Kenobi series when I went back and rewatched the prequels and TCW (weirdly Obikin as a ship didn't register for my poor oblivious bisexual arse when the prequels came out). They're equals, more intimate than lovers, two halves of a whole warrior, they spend a lot of their time together bickering like an old married couple. Ahsoka refers to them as her parents in TCW season 7. Where there is one, the other is not far behind. I'm sure it was @/gffa who wrote a meta about how (whether you view their relationship as platonic or romantic) Obi-Wan Kenobi IS the love of Anakin Skywalker's life. To me they are the Star Wars ride or die. They ended tragically in life (in canon). They lived happily ever after as force ghosts. The love was there... 😭. I am Unwell about them.

Ineffable Husbands/Wives/Spouses - An Angel and a Demon. Hereditary Enemies. Unapologetically queer. The Autistic + ADHD ship. The angel is a fussy hedonist who will cut a bitch if they damage his books. Whenever The Master shows up you never know if they're gonna kill each other or fuck nasty (or both). For once brief shining moment (Twelve x Missy, World Enough And Time) they could've been more. Again, they have this tragic thread of "it shouldn't have ended like this, but it did". Unlikely to have a happy ending ever (unless through the pages of fanfic).

My OG ride or die ship, they are the reason that most of my other ships have that ride or die, banter and bicker like an old married couple, best friends, equals, you cannot find one without the other, no one understands me like this person understands me vibe.

I think the point of showing the ineffable bureaucracy ship working out that smoothly compared to the ineffable husbands was to say (in my opinion, I am probably wrong but for me, my theory gives me a bittersweet feeling so I wanna share it) that love comes unexpectedly and indiscriminately. It can come to the shittiest people and make them wonderful or if not wonderful, at least still seem like they deserve to be happy. Lets be honest, we really wanted Gabriel to be the one to fuck off and die but then he fell in love and it was beautiful and we couldn't deny that for him.

I think the reason why Neil made them fall in love so fast was that love can really be that fast. Not every love is a slowburn and love can be that tiny stone in the shoe, suddenly comes but changes everything as you're walking down the street and u feel it in ur shoe and u bend over to get it out and you see headlights speeding towards you. Things change so fast and so suddenly.

Personally, I am a bit of a masochist so I also kinda think they were given that relationship to show the contrast between them and the ineffable husbands, who did everything right and yet they watched as two other people got the ending they never thought they could have. Two people who previously were literally the worst. I mean in a world where Heaven and Hell exists to idk dole out punishments and stuff, it seems kinda insane that two of the worst people get love and yet these two who worked so much for it dont. And I think that unfairness and that despair, that specific feeling that I dont know the word for, THATS what Neil wanted to capture. So yes, its not supposed to be a slowburn. Otherwise you wouldn't have the same effect as it did.

I guess the success of a ship and the reason a duo or a couple is shipped from the fans has to do with the chemistry the actors bring to the screen but there were a lot of cases where fanfiction writers created such a great stories for the readers to make them ship even characters who had limited interaction on the screen and that's the power of imagination, to me all the ships have chemistry

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is a new show for me i managed to watch all Seasons till 4th as i write this in almost a month , before i reached S3 where Nora makes her appearance i had seen/ read some spoilers that she and Ray would end up together, Ray Palmer is my most favourite character from lot and when i found out about this ship i was so happy because he deserves all the love and so does Nora Darhk. Nora is such a great written character her development to the show is one of the best. You can guess my reaction when i also found out that the actors who play these characters are married in real life , this ship is everything and to answer this question i have searched about this ship too many times to count but i wish there were more fan videos of DarhkAtom on the internet

I think Aziraphale and Crowley because of the years since the book published and there were fans of this ship even then, second ship who lasted longest is Destiel because of the years Supernatural has on screen

If you are a Gotham and nygmobblepot fan then you know all about this ship's love and hate relationship , these two crazy idiots almost kill each other but they can't live without each other

Both? i think Ray Palmer with his atom suit abilities and Nora with her magic have more chances to make out alive though i wouldn't underestimate Ed's and Os's surviving skills in times of danger, they are both so clever and cunning that i am more concerned about zombies well being than the two of them 😂

Merlin and Arthur never become canon but to the fans Merlin and Arthur have feelings for each other , they hide their feelings since they know each other i wish this ship was canon on screen

Killing Eve season 3 delivered this year the best finale in my opinion of all seasons , Villanelle and Eve have feelings for each other that's canon now and i hope in S4 they will live and work together as a couple

Not for the writers still not canon but the fans with me included we hope before the show ends completely the writers stop this torment and give us what Destiel fans are praying for years , our ship to become canon

The poetry of the ineffable husbands

It’s me ya boi I gotta go to bed in an hour so I’m writing it as fast as I can so I don’t lose my idea tomorrow. 

So, what do I mean by that? Literally what it says. I’m just going to ramble about how beautiful and full of metaphors their relationship is and how it just gives me a reason to live. It’s not going to be good rambling. Just rambling with a little bit of passion in it.

Ight imma start with the classic things. As a former Wattpad loyal user I know all the angel x demon tropes. And I am sick of them to my stomach, I can’t stand one more uwu baby angel corrupted by demon. And this is what is surprising but does make sense about them husbands. They cannot, in my opinion, be called angel or demon, they literally became 2 halves of the same entity, the supernatural entity that watches over humans and makes sure there is a balance between good and bad. Like Yin and Yang. Good and evil, black and white, light and darkness. Not opposing, but complementing each other.

 Aaaand they were like that from the beginning. Remember when Crowley said  "Funny thing is, I keep wondering whether the apple thing wasn’t the right thing to do, as well. A demon can get into real trouble, doing the right thing. Funny if we both got it wrong, eh? Funny if I did the good thing and you did the bad one, eh?". They somehow knew it, Crowley wasn’t evil and Aziraphale wasn’t as obedient as an angel should have been. From the first time they ever got in touch in each other (we do not have any information on the times before Crowley’s fall) they somehow ended up thinking they didn’t do the thing their roles assigned them to. And this just shows how interesting their relationship that would come will be. In their relationship they always ended up stepping on their values that were assigned and for what? For the sake of each other.

Now, I got into the light-darkness thing and I feel the need to extend it. I somewhere saw a theory that angel’s halo’s are so bright that it blinds them, the angels having to rely only on God’s word. Meanwhile, the fallen angels, the demons, had their halo’s broken, forming the shape of the horns, being able to see and think on their own but not having any form of guidance. Now that we uncovered that doesnt a relationship between a demon and an angel just make sense? Like, the angel, blinded by the divine light, would rely on the demon’s words and rationalizing. The demon would then be guided by the angel’s light, this way both benefiting for each other and having to bond to each other. It just makes me so soft to think about that need of each other, and just a silly little thing my brain just said: “the angel could guide the demon through the darkest of times’’ (yes I just quoted my brain deal with it). I am just a succkerrr for this kind of soft thing and many people would probably not empathize and thats okay.

Now the really corny shit. Like the “forbidden love” kind of. This is, again, a well-known trope, but this time one that didn’t lose as much value as others did. When you think “forbidden love” there are so many posibilities. Like... gays during the history, a maiden and a prince, a gay knight and a prince, mafia gang leader harry styles and crime detective, the entire plot of hannibal, drunken me and a laptop to write, hold on I’m going too far, just young people in love and not affording it aaannndd 2 people from opposite sides. Heaven/Hell I mean. Obviously very opposite. And what we have learned about this forbidden love kinda stuff? They almost always end up running away together. Yes I am proving Crowley is head over heels but like, isn’t that poetic as fuck? Being so sick of having to do your work, to hide your feelings, to just hide yourself and the person you would die for that you just want to dull off together and live the perfect life without being judged?

Related to the past point, even if this was an innevitable choice, just the fact that Crowley chose Alpha Centauri is just making my brain and fingers go nuts. Alpha Centauri is a triple star system, 2 of them forming a binary star, basically two stars that are pretty close to each other. Now I know this doesn’t really make any sense, but what if those 2 stars represent Crowley and Aziraphale, and the 3rd one represents Adam? Like in that moment they went during the time before the world was created. I just think it would be cool as fuck that there would actually be an association made.

Also just the ship’s name: Ineffable. What does it mean? Beyond words, beyond understanding. What we always try is to put our feelings into words, and we more than usual fail. Because feelings aren’t something to be shown by words. They are ineffable.

Where did I go with this? Absolutely. No. Idea. I just poured all I my thoughts on a tired keyboard until my fingers have gone cold. It’s just that there are small details or just small ideas that maybe aren’t that revolutionary or special, but why not randomly post them on the internet?

lockdown film no. 33 - Gladiator (2000) dir. Ridley Scott

- I saw this film the first time when I was maybe 13? My dad decided that it was time for me to watch this Oscar winning epic, but we had to watch it in two parts because it was so long, and pretty damn violent for squeamish, baby me. Me and Dad managed this all in one, seven years later

- the opening is… really something isn’t it

- (just found out it was filmed in Surrey. Gutted)

- I got shivers right through to my scalp when he made that first speech to his soldiers that ends with “Brothers — what we do in life echoes in eternity.” Genius (there’s a chance it was because my room is the temperature of the arctic but nonetheless it was very moving)

- I had a foley workshop this morning and my tutor was talking about how foley should be subtle, but often the sounds need to be exaggerated so we’re absolutely sure that what we’re hearing is what we’re meant to be hearing. Likely because I came in with that mindset, they went absolutely ham thick on the foley for the opening battle scene

- “Enough of politics. Let us pretend that you are a loving daughter, and I am a loving father” — the fact that this line was said quite gently by Richard Harris’ Caesar Marcus Aurelius makes it so heartbreaking because there is absolutely no pretence that their family’s relationship is outrageously dysfunctional, and that’s not even getting onto the incest

- Joaquin phoenix is great in this. When he’s told he isn’t going to be emperor he’s like a stroppy kid who just wants to make his dad proud of him and now he’s a psychopath. That scene’s fantastic anyway, I love how the statue of caesar is right on commodus’ shoulder the whole way through, and really oppressive after commodus has killed Marcus Aurelius

- also fun fact about that scene — apparently phoenix was so stressed out about shooting it that he fainted right after they cut

- the little *fwoop* when he flipped the sword over was a bit much and then saying “the frost. Sometimes it makes the blade stick” before slicing the other guy felt a bit too bondy for this but you know what ? I respect the swagger

- there was an absolutely ineffable sense of dread and pure terror when the roman army was approaching maximus’ home and his son was running and waving thinking it was him. I hated that bit

- “those giraffes you sold me. They won’t mate. They just walk around eating, and not mating. You sold me… queer giraffes.” Whoever wrote this deserves every Oscar this film won, and I want it framed in my kitchen

- I enjoy the fact that they could have so easily done a training montage gladiator style when Maximus had been bought by proximo. Instead they took time to get a bit more into his character and for us to meet juba and the other gladiators. We didn’t need to see him training as a gladiator, that’s not what we’re here for. This film isn’t about fighting — sure, it’s got some great scenes in the colosseum which are entertaining to watch, and there’s stacks of gratuitous violence, but I feel in this case it’s warranted because you can’t get away from the brutality of the games in this context. The film itself is more about Maximus as a general, a gladiator, a husband, father and person and how he relates to the ever conflicting idea of “Rome” and the permanent violence it seems to require to keep that idea going under the reign of commodus. Maximus was required to kill in the army, but there it felt like it was for a purpose: to protect the idea of Rome and the emperor and the people that he cares—here he is required to kill just because he is required to kill. That would obviously change the dynamic but it says a lot about his character that he doesn’t seem to have any qualms about killing a person he doesn’t know for the entertainment of more people he doesn’t know and will likely never meet

- when Maximus walks through the cage it exactly mirrors the opening scene and him walking by all his soldiers as they salute him as their leader and I really liked that

- “i did not say I knew him, I said he touched me on the shoulder once” — why does this film have so many relatable lines 

- one of my favourite things about this film is essentially nothing to do with the film itself, and it’s how my dad will yell stuff from it at opportune moments. When I was learning to drive and going round corners, he would say “hold the line” like Maximus does in the amphitheatre. once, when we were climbing up a hill and it got a bit steeper near the top and I got a bit more tired and started to slow, he clapped me on the shoulder, pointed up the hill and yelled “STRENGTH AND HONOUR! HOLD THE LINE! STAY WITH ME!” just to encourage me up this hill and I love him so much for it

- absolutely cannot stand the bit in the chariot fight where the archer woman gets fully sliced in half. Couldn’t deal with it in 2013 and can’t deal with it now

- fun fact this film got the thumbs up thumbs down thing the wrong way round. In the scene where maximus’ identity was revealed to commodus, he moves his hand from a neutral position to his thumb pointing upwards, which means that he is sparing maximus. Often the emperor would use this code to signal to the winning gladiator if they should kill the loser. However, apparently thumb down didn’t mean “finish them”, it actually meant “throw down your weapon”, and the thumb pointing upward was meant to symbolise the sword thrusting up into the loser’s body. However this might also might be incorrect, I have not by any means done extensive research

- “it vexes me. I am terribly vexed.” Another classic dad quote

- they used… real tigers for the scene with Tigris ??? Not happy about that. First of all, how ?

- I love the constant talk of the dream that was Rome, and the constant talk in tandem of the mob and how fickle they are. There is the dream that is Rome and there is the reality of the fickle mob. They obviously can’t coexist but those everyone we meet wants something better, in some way

- I don’t know if phoenix made a conscious decision about his speech but it really fit with what I said before about him being a petulant child because his speech didn't sound completely developed and reminded me of a child’s speech in how he pronounces certain letters. It adds so much to the character because he is a completely abhorrent person who wants to sleep with his sister and have a pure blood heir, have complete control over the roman empire and kill anyone who comes between his dream of what that empire could be under him. But then at the same time he sounds like a kid who’s not getting his own way

- apparently proximo was meant to live in the original version of the film, but Oliver reed died during production, before all his scenes were filmed, so his character had to be killed. The last shot of him is from the back, so we don’t see his face, and a shot from earlier where he says “shadows and dust” is cut in right before he dies. The film was dedicated to reed’s memory

- OH another thing I Loved about commodus was how he had a white horse, and white armour in the final battle with maximus, while maximus has black armour, which is the standard. Because commodus has such an idea of who he is, and in his mind, he is Rome’s saviour, even though he knows full well he doesn’t have any of the qualities of a good emperor. White is typically the colour used to signify that a character is good, and pure, etc. so I really enjoyed the inversion of that to show commodus’ character and the character he wants Rome to see

- this isn’t a film about violence, it’s about a philosophy

- one last thing is that when I rewatch films to write up these things, I often skip parts because I get the gist of what’s going on and I don’t need to watch the whole thing. With this, even though it was 2 hours 35, I watched the whole thing, and I think that says a lot about how good a film it is

Love is a Fragile Dance

You were a standoffish person in general.

And it didn’t help that you were a touch starved person, yearning and craving affection. You just didn’t know how to cope with it because sometimes in the back of your mind, even just the simplest of touchest repulsed you. You knew you weren’t touched repulsed because any sensation didn’t make you feel sick or like it was some burning sensation.

Everything is complicated when you are a closed-off person, you had a rough past and it’s hard to connect to people, coming to terms with people you like was even tougher as you think about the past, you’re terrified to let yourself out there and be free. 

Which is why you’ve been ignoring both Crowley and Aziraphale’s advances towards you.

You love them, your heart had decided, but your mind was feeding too much to your demons which sat on your shoulders whispering the dirty things. They’ve told you that they would love to pursue a relationship with you, but you always come apprehensive, were you ready to be loved again?

And you were apprehensive about the two being entities, and one of them being a demon. You’ve seen it first hand and heard it from Aziraphale, Crowley is somewhat “nice” for a demon, but nevertheless, he sometimes loses himself and slips up.

But, you realise, sometimes, humans are just worse than demons.

“Does it matter to you?” You asked bitterly as your friend, Gryffin, sat across you with a look, “You know exactly why-”

“No, I do not!” He exclaims as you scoffed - some friend he was, “All I want to know is why you just don’t put yourself out there anymore, one bad relationship-”

“It was more than bad, Gryffin,” You hissed as Aziraphale and Crowley enter the dessert shop, immediately turning when they hear your voice. Despite the place being busy and loud they could always trace your voice which was slowly turning upset, “You can’t just tell me to get over it.”

“Why not?” 

You’ve been friends with Gryffin for a few years now, but tonight he was truly showing you his true colours. You don’t know why you were even meeting him, you could tell it was going to go sour the moment he was about to mention your love life.

“You’re so guarded and closed off,” He scoffs, rolling his eyes as you cowered down and locking your jaw, both in anger and in fear.

This movement was not missed by Crowley, who was watching you whilst Aziraphale was quickly ordering, Crowley was feeling the negative vibes from you, he was a demon so he could feel the strongest negative emotions and currently, it was coming from you rather than the crying girl who had been broken up. 

“I barely know you anymore (Y/n),” He continues, shaking his head as he continues to sip on his milkshake whilst you timidly sink lower into your seat, “We want to be updated in your life, what’s good?”

“I-” You looked at him in disgust, yet Crowley could see from afar that you were masking the fear of slipping up around your friend.

Aziraphale returns with drinks and immediately turns to see what Crowley was staring at. He immediately picks up how you’re tense, shoulders stiff, yet cowering away. He sees that you’ve closed up your bubble and he looks his boyfriend in concern.

“I’m going to run that man out, I don’t care if (Y/n) says anything...” Crowley grits his teeth, “It’s unbelievable, Angel, the negativity is all from them.”

You looked at your friend who was still talking, “What’s up with your relationship status? I’ve noticed that you’ve been single for two years now.”

The two supernatural entities kept their ears peeled as they hear you take a sharp intake of air. Your hands tremble as you try to prepare yourself for the next vicious blow of judgement and you couldn’t even attempt to stop it.

“Get’s hit once by an ex-boyfriend and suddenly you’re screaming abuse,” He scoffs, shaking his head and that was the final snap for your actual friends as you froze in the spot, “Get over yourself (Y/n).”

“Hey, dick!” Crowley growled, making you snap your head at his direction, “That’s really shitty behaviour.”

You were surprised to see him there but Aziraphale couldn’t help but noticed how you flinched at the tone of Crowley. He carefully taps you, and motions for you to move out of the conflict. 

Aziraphale doesn’t want to touch you, he sees how you jumped when he touches you. He follows you out, giving Crowley a look, before keeping an eye on you. He noticed that you sit down by the curb, by the Bentley. Your arms wrapped around yourself in the cold harsh autumn weather, London was facing.

Aziraphale shrugs off his coat and gently puts it on you, you smile up at him with softness as he sits next to you. He smiles wider when he sees you tug on his coat closer to him. 

“Thanks, Azira,” You softly say as he nods, “You probably want to eat your crepes whilst we’re waiting for Crowley.”

Aziraphale blushed as you hummed, looking anywhere but him. Crowley comes out after five minutes and sits on the other side of you, he lets out a huff and turns to look at you and his boyfriend.

“Well,” His tone is softer, and his heart breaks when he sees you relax because you shouldn’t even be afraid around him, “He won’t be bothering you anymore, think you’re better off without him.”

“Yeah...” You breathed out, sending him a tired sad smile, “Thank you, Crowley.”

There was silence between the three of you, the two entities not wanting to push you. But, their presence was just enough for you.

“Sorry about that,” You mumbled at the two turns to face you but you were comfortable at least not making any direct eye contact to them, “I-”

“Hey,” Crowley soothes you before you worked yourself up, “You don’t need to tell us anything unless you’re ready. We’re patient.”

You nodded before smiling, “Of course, you waited for Aziraphale, didn’t you?” Crowley and Aziraphale blushed but smile at each other, “I just want to say thank you again, I’ve been trying but it’s hard.”

“And no one is forcing you to do it, my love,” Aziraphale says, you were safe in the nickname he’s decided for you, “We’ll be by your side until you’re ready.”

“Come on, love, we have to get home before you get yourself hypothermia,” Crowley teased as he stands up, lending you a hand with caring eyes. You looked at Aziraphale, who nods.

You were safe.

Aziraphale was quick to pick up how much you wanted affection, but you were so hesitant into asking. Whilst he hadn’t known much of your past, he could infer that it wasn’t the best so he tried to do it in small doses, sometimes you would barely notice, but by the reaction of your body - it seems to give good reviews.

There would be times he would drape a blanket on you, comfort and smells like him and Crowley, which you subconsciously coo. He smiles at you when you turn embarrassed but he noticed how grateful your eyes shine.

Aziraphale made it benefit you and him, he likes seeing how your eyes sparkle happiness.

Sometimes, he would offer his hand and you two would hold hands walking in St James Park when Crowley wasn’t around. Sometimes Aziraphale would open his arms to invite you for a hug, he offers but never forced. He initiates the affection but waits for you to be comfortable, and never feels offended when you decline.

You barely decline the offer as you thrive in his affection like when he holds on longer than usual in a hug, when he softly kisses your temple. Even a simple brush of the hand.

Crowley gets told by Aziraphale about your situation, and like you, he was in the same boat. Craving and wanting affection but afraid to ask. Yet, when he’s around you, he never fails to at least give you something. Like when it’s just you and him, he would have his arm thrown over your shoulder like he was your shield of protection. 

Like Aziraphale, he has a tendency to open his arms to offer your hugs, no words spoken as you dive into his embrace. Sometimes Crowley turns into your snake and sits upon your shoulders and wrapped around your neck, hissing at anyone that seems to come with negative energy towards you. 

Between the three of you, there was an unspoken agreement about dating.

You couldn’t hide that you loved them when Aziraphale can detect love radiating from you, you were all dancing around each other. In respect to you.

When you come bouncing into the bookshop with the brightest smile, the two entities cannot help but smile and melt at your sunny aura, in the winter of England.

It had been a few months since the incident, you’ve got back on your feet and you were radiating such love and happiness that Crowley cannot but help to almost vomit due to his demonic nature.

“What’s got you all happy?” Crowley asked, scrunching up his nose in disgust as you rolled your eyes.

“Don’t listen to him, boy, he’s just happy to see you happy,” Aziraphale waves his boyfriend off, whilst Crowley sticks his tongue out in all good fun nature. 

“Well, I’m ready,” You announced as the two paused to look at you, making sure they had heard you right, “I ready for us and to tell you everything about me, if you would have me?”

The two broke out grins as Crowley picks you up and spins you around, you laugh out loud that the two supernatural entities feel at ease. 

“Of course, we’ll have you!” Crowley shouted, putting you down and squeezing your cheeks before kissing your nose, “We’ll forever have you!”

“I’ll get the kettle running, it’ll be a long afternoon!” Aziraphale exclaims, “And some snacks.”

“I’ll get the blankets and pillows,” Crowley announced as the two rifles through the bookshop as you found yourself beaming at their antics.

“You two...” You hummed softly, shaking your head in amusement.

“Oh, my love?” Aziraphale says as you stare at the two of them who stand side by side. Aziraphale on the right whilst Crowley occupied the left.

“We’re proud of you,” They spoke in unison as you tilted your head and eyes soften at the words.

“Damn it guys, I shouldn’t start crying now, we haven’t even-” You chuckled, sniffing, “I love you guys.”

The two let out a glorious noise of happiness as they motioned you to the backroom. You found yourself wedged in between the angel and demon, comfortably safe. You relaxed as you held your mug of hot beverage. The two listen carefully, love is a fragile dance but in the end, it’s worth it.
