Se solo immaginassero quanto lavoro c'è dietro, per diventare un dj almeno decente! Mettiamo che tu mixi in un locale. È pieno zeppo e tutti stanno ballando come pazzi. Hai una cuffia appoggiata dietro un orecchio per sentire il pezzo del piatto 1 in uscita dalle casse. Sull'altro orecchio hai la seconda cuffia con la quale lavori per i fatti tuoi al disco sul piatto 2. Fai scratchare il secondo disco avanti e indietro sullo slipmat sotto la puntina, a caccia del punto esatto dove "tagliare", mentre ti accerti che vada a tempo con il primo. Potresti aver bisogno di farlo viaggiare più veloce, o più piano. Se ci metti troppo ad allineare il secondo, il primo potrebbe finire e tu ritrovarti di botto nel silenzio più totale. E se fai il dj, dammi retta, i silenzi di tomba non sono affatto consigliabili. E tutto questo lo devi fare in mezzo alla bolgia di gente che hai intorno, per non parlare di quelli che vengono a chiederti di mettere su i loro pezzi preferiti, e cioè come minimo roba di dieci anni fa.
Se lavori a regola sui piatti, a questo punto sposterai il cross fader del volume per infilare la seconda traccia: è qui che tutto si fa davvero eccitante. Certe volte è questione di un secondo: il cambio dei due brani è quasi istantaneo. Un colpo secco, insomma. Da brivido. Altrimenti puoi creare una dissolvenza graduale, e i due pezzi suoneranno in contemporanea per un po'.
Poi quando decidi di abbandonare il primo, lo sfumi con l'up fader collegato al piatto 1 (si chiama "up" fader anche se in realtà lo usi sia per abbassare che per alzare il volume). Poi con l'up fader del piatto 2 aumenti il volume della seconda traccia.
L'obiettivo è quello di effettuare un cambio senza punti morti: con i veri DJ è praticamente impossibile capire dove finisce una canzone e dove parte l'altra. Quando ascolti uno forte come Reel Love, hai l'impressione che tutti i pezzi siano un unico lungo brano ininterrotto.

how do surrogacies for cats in another Clan work, socially? With honor siring you don't have to stick around once the cat you're siring for is pregnant; but with surrogacies you're going through an entire pregnancy and kitting process, which your Clan will probably catch onto at some point. Do you just... go off to give birth and come back and tell your Clan "bad news they didn't make it :( they all got uhhh eaten by a hawk sry all" after dropping them off with the cats you surrogated for
The out of universe reason is simple logistics. Some parents can't give birth but they still need a visit from the stork, with how small Clan sizes are.
In-universe, it's a whole process.
MOST surrogacies are done by family, or are in-Clan. A sibling who is able to get pregnant will do so, with the expectation that their family member will take and raise the kits.
More are done on a sort of "open book" policy. Onestar and Whitetail are an example of this; One wanted kits and asked White, but didn't want to coparent. She agreed, and neither one kept it a secret.
So Whitetail is not Heathertail's MOTHER, but it is known she was the honor-sire.
Likewise though, it's within your rights to keep it secret, even within a Clan. If you asked Onestar where the kit came from, invoking Queen’s Rights would shut it down.
But you could put two and two together that Whitetail was probably pregnant and stopped being so right when Onestar became a Mi.
For the record though. Listen carefully.
not every cat who is expecting will suddenly flash like a neon sign indicating it. The whole Clan will not suddenly get a text saying "DUDEHEART IS PREGNANT." Some people just don't show. Some cats don't smell that different. It's rude to ask unprompted and even worse if you guess wrong. Like real life.
Please understand.
On the Anthro-Scale, from 100% feral cat to 100% fuzzy human, BB cat gestation is closer to the feral cat than most of their other behaviors. So this is not the same "big deal" as a human pregnancy.
In general, I write "medical" topics closer to real cats than the Erins do. I mostly take "liberties" in the portrayal of disabilities so THOSE are closer to the real humans in my audience
intelligent cats are not going to be correcting me on my incorrect portrayal of Feline Diabetes, but I could unwittingly cause harm in spreading diabetic misconceptions that real people try to clear up, y'know?
Anyway. What that means is that warriors giving birth is not the federal issue that it is for humans. It's still not TOTALLY safe, but dying in childbirth is exceptionally rare, plus being much less painful and considerably faster
"The Birthing Stick" means something is wrong.
So there's several factors at play within Clans, but Out-of-Clan surrogacies are much more interesting.
These are usually arranged at Aftergatherings. They were rarer before the move to the Lake, which now sees waaaay more cross-clan friendships.
USUALLY the Clan's Cleric will be involved, which IS technically a waiving of the Queen’s Rights. Leafpool simply doesn't interpret it that way.
A more "traditional" Cleric, like Littlecloud, will NOT be involved for personal safety and comfort reasons. This makes a bad situation but that's the reality of QR (and is a reason why Fire Alone cats think QR doesn't go far enough.)
Kits are always given to the parent before 1 moon. Fading Kits aren't socially questioned if they fade before that 1st moon. So it's pretty easy to hide it.
"All of my litter was faders" is unfortunate in the way that a car accident is unfortunate. "Shit, are you ok?" "Is StarClan trying to keep a close eye on you? Are you going to try again?" Etc.
"Frequent Flyer" surrogates, like Brightheart, often keep a single kitten from each litter to avoid the implication of "bad omens."
If they aren't Brightheart who likes raising kittens with her mate, the kitten is often given to an in-Clan parent who wanted a child.
Most surrogacies aren't "free," but it does depend on who's doing it for you.
Like all other things in BB, this looks very different between generations, and depends heavily on the "attitudes" of the Clans at the tine. But, Queen’s Rights will protect you from revealing too much. STILL, surrogacies ARE harder than sirings. Just not impossible.

"You'll find out, doll." He grinned and winked, taking the flask from you and holding the spliff for you to take another hit. He took a sip, eyeing you as you pulled the smoke in. Once again, you took the flask back from him as you held the smoke in.
"What's that supposed to mean?" You said after exhaling. You put the flask to your lips and took a sip.
"Shotgun round." He smirked. As he pulled smoke from the j, your eyes widened and your back tingled with anticipation. You shouldn't be doing this kind of thing with a man his age but something about the mix of weed and alcohol, the proximity, his scent... you'd never wanted something so bad.
Kishibe gently placed a calloused hand on the back of your neck, pulling you closer as you opened your mouth in anticipation. Your lips brushed against his as he blew the smoke into your mouth and you breathed it in. It was warm, with a faint oaky undertone from the whiskey.
And, without words, you traded whiskey and weed as he took a sip and you pulled smoke again. You shotgunned Kishibe this time, both of you less skittish when your lips touched. One more sip, one more hit, one more shotgun. Your form got messy, nearly turning into a kiss. You'd have to pay more attention next time.
Except, high and drunk, that thought left you mind the second your lips touched his again. His warmth was so nice, you were all but melted onto him. And with your lips on his, you forgot the two of you were shotgunning at all. As he pulled away, your lips chased his, like gravity was pulling you back to him.
You kissed him. A languid and sloppy kiss, sure, but his grip on the back of your neck tightened and you couldn't take it back if you wanted to. He hummed into the kiss, his tongue easily finding yours, arousal bubbling up your spine. The flask and half-smoked joint were haphazardly set on the table next to you, somehow avoiding spills with the j nestled neatly on the ashtray.
Your hands found their place on either side of his face as you kissed him deeper, feeling cross-faded and horny as hell. He pushed your hips to grind you against him so you could feel how big he was. How stiff you'd already made him.
You moaned lightly, making Kishibe smirk into the kiss. After all, making you needy like this went just as he intended.

Harsh hard sync and AM sounds.
Doing Waver better justice than in the last case with it here, using two oscillators to just push each other around with all sorts of cross patching. Cold mac takes a few CV sources in to act as a drifting macro controller. Now that I've started to patch it as such, I've started to identify a performance style I fall into, responding to said drift. The faders on Waver and Ikarie really lean into this - of course while any knob can be wiggled, some modes are more conducive to this than others.
Again on the performance side, I continue to use mutes on the Acid Rains to create breakdowns and builds. When I feel like more formally structuring a song, I need to create distinct A/B sections that I can switch around rather than fully cutting something out. Hopefully the next firmware update (allegedly in the works from the modwiggler thread) will include the multi-mute-dropping I've seen a handful of users suggest. Even without it though, banger modules.

this paper is innately questionable bc they’re basically saying they’re including “femme” bisexuals & bisexuals as separate categories and femme lesbians are grouped with “femme” bisexuals. ofc when you include bisexuals as half of “femmes” you’ll find that “femmes” tend to have “more lifetime male partners and encounters”. also i looked up the study referenced to support the claim that “butches have more masculine patterns of jealousy and mate preferences” and here’s what the study that was referenced says:

Butches and femmes also differed as to which attributes of a competitor made them the most jealous. which… 😐 when u think of butch/femme culture u realise this is bc many ppl very into it often do replicate hetero gender roles and this is a SUPER weak basis to claim butches have “more masculine patterns of jealousy and mate preferences”.
A more recent study that analyzed butches and femmes separately found that butches outperformed femmes and heterosexual women on a mental rotation task, thus showing cognitive masculinization (Zheng et al., 2018).
a quick search has resulted in me finding a recent study which basically found basis to argue that self-concept plays a large role in performance in the mental rotation task. so like. this difference could very well be about women being told from a young age that we aren’t good at something & butches simply not believing that claim applies to them for whatever reason.
this is just lesbophobia
anyways i gave up after reading 12 pages of this paper, but i have to say the paper itself was unconvincing, relying heavily on gender roles, & clearly includes a lot of bias. would not take this paper seriously if i were any of u

Turntablism is the art of manipulating sounds and creating new music, sound effects, mixes and other creative sounds and beats, typically by using two or more turntables and a cross fader-equipped DJ mixer.[1] The mixer is plugged into a PA system (for live events) and/or broadcasting equipment (if the DJ is performing on radio, TV or Internet radio) so that a wider audience can hear the turntablist's music. Turntablists atypically manipulate records on a turntable by moving the record with their hand to cue the stylus to exact points on a record, and by touching or moving the platter or record to stop, slow down, speed up or, spin the record backwards, or moving the turntable platter back and forth (the popular rhythmic "scratching" effect which is a key part of hip hop music),[2] all while using a DJ mixer's crossfader control and the mixer's gain and equalization controls to adjust the sound and level of each turntable. The word turntablist is claimed to be originated by Luis "DJ Disk" Quintanilla (Primus, Herbie Hancock, Invisibl Skratch Piklz).[3] After a phone conversation with Disk, it was later popularised in 1995 by DJ Babu[4] to describe the difference between a DJ who simply plays and mixes records and one who performs by physically manipulating the records, stylus, turntables, turntable speed controls and mixer to produce new sounds. The new term coincided with the resurgence of hip-hop DJing in the 1990s.
According to most DJ historians, it is has been documented that "DJ Babu" of the "Beat Junkies" / "Dilated Peoples" was the one who originally coined the term "turntablist". In 1995 while working on the groundbreaking mixtape "Comprehension", DJ Babu hand wrote the name "Babu The Turntablist" on hundreds of copies of this mixtape to describe his style of DJing, while working on the track "Turntablism" with "D-Styles" and DJ Melo-D, Babu would say "if someone plays the piano, we call them a pianist, if someone plays the guitar, we call them a guitarist, why don't we call ourselves Turntablists?" found in the documentary "Scratch (2001 film)" which was released in 2001.
John Oswald described the art: "A phonograph in the hands of a 'hiphop/scratch' artist who plays a record like an electronic washboard with a phonographic needle as a plectrum, produces sounds which are unique and not reproduced—the record player becomes a musical instrument."[5] Some turntablists use turntable techniques like beat mixing/matching, scratching, and beat juggling. Some turntablists seek to have themselves recognized as traditional musicians capable of interacting and improvising with other performers. Depending on the records and tracks selected by the DJ and their turntablist style (e.g., hip hop music), a turntablist can create rhythmic accompaniment, percussion breaks, basslinesor beat loops, atmospheric "pads", "stabs" of sudden chords or interwoven melodic lines.
The underground movement of turntablism has also emerged to focus on the skills of the DJ. In the 2010s, there are turntablism competitions, where turntablists demonstrate advanced beat juggling and scratching skills.
