i love each of my kintypes’ respective communities, but i have a special fondness for the dragon community. two dragons could be completely different in anatomy and habitat and abilities and mind, and yet we all exist together as dragons. there’s something wonderful about so many different species and varieties of beings gathered like that, and of being a part of it. i imagine myself flying through and over our many different environments and seeing each other and thinking, "you. you’re like me.”

damn. i didn't know it was this bad. dustwolf did always kinda give me weird vibes, but i just dismissed it as him having a formal typing style which i wasn't used to, or misunderstanding what he said. guess i was giving him too much credit.

after reading this i went back thru some of his posts and the problems definitely stand out much more.

i'll also add one example that wasn't touched on here: lycantheory has a post titled "On CWs, TWs, PSAs, and 'safe spaces'" in the introduction to therianthropy forum where he says this: "The downward spiral I've seen originated on social media in the form of Content Warnings, Trigger Warnings, Public Safety Announcements, ect. These things are nothing more than fear-mongering, rebranded as something that's supposed to be in your best interest. It's like having an overprotective parent who won't even let you close your door for privacy for fear of 'what you might be doing'."

dustwolf later replies with this: "[....] With all that said, it should be obvious that I am not in favour of CWs, TWs and all such things. Neither do I support segregating TG into age groups, or any other such things. We all have to learn to live with one-another as plainly and honestly as possible."

(note, neither of these are the full posts. i didn't want to copy-paste the entire thing, just what was essential.)

when i first read these i thought it was just a simple misunderstanding of what tws/cws/etc are (and it probably still somewhat is), but combined with the other things, it doesn't paint a pretty picture.

a little message to my therian friends: Do not use the Therian Guide Forums.

The owner of the site, Dustwolf, is transphobic and supports it under the guise of “allowing free speech” as well as supposedly defending biology. Specifically, he is against and tacitly supports people who are against especially genders based around species, or who are otherwise outside of the binary and whatever could be considered in between. He did nothing about people arguing to me that they do not need to respect a person’s gender because of culture or (bad) biology.

He essentially told me that they deserve to have “free speech”. Told me that he was doing what he was to “protect the community”. Like, protect who? The bigots? Your small little bigoted group of therians? Really?

Other things—Sysmedicalism was endorsed by the previous owner (and also literal child predator and bestiality committer. he has since been banned but co owner Dustwolf remains as sole owner) LycanTheory. The wording he uses includes rejecting self diagnoses of disorders that go under the label of plurality, and asks way too much personal, even confidential information of systems—“why should we accept anybody’s claims of ‘plurality’ without a professional diagnosis or history of treatment”. r/systemcringe talking points get regurgitated there as well.

The forums also allow discussion of zoophilia while at the same time banning mention of consent, and i really hope i do not have to explain why this is pretty gross and dangerous.

Rejected and banned members on the forum get labeled as “human”. Disrespecting somebody’s identity for any reason is pretty disgusting. Don’t particularly care what theyve done to make people believe they should be treated that way.

Dustwolf and previous co-owner LycanTheory have advocated for therian seperatism and clearly look down on non-therians under the alterhuman umbrella. Dustwolf does so while simultaneously trying to dunk on feminism and “identity politics”.

I saw kids applying to be on these forums when i was first trying to learn about my otherkinity and found this website (it is considerably high up in search results relating to therian information). I am worried for them. Please warn people against using this website as best you can. The sense of community you might get there is just not worth the potential damage to your identity journey and emotional state.

Meet the newest resident of the critter corner Cordelia (she/her) she's the oldest sister of Blueberry Muffine. She's a marine biologist and spends lots of her time journaling on the beach or out on her work boat studying the marine life. She loves all marine life but sharks and whales are her favorite.

i don’t know much about clinical lycanthropes/zoanthropes, or endels, or any other label of the sort that i’m missing. i’m not a mental health expert. i haven’t done enough research yet to know the difference between a healthy outlet where folks can speak about their experiences and an unhealthy encouraging of delusions/hallucinations. i don’t know what a helpful reality check looks like versus one that just makes things worse (although i assume it depends on the individual).

however, i do know that experiencing delusions and/or hallucinations and being nonhuman are not mutually exclusive. both can be true; folks can be both. there’s no reason that they couldn’t be.

so, nonhumans whose nonhumanity is in part, in full, or in other ways accompanied or influenced by delusions or hallucinations: you are welcome on my blog.
