Thank you, anon. I feel like an angry, brooding teen, (or something along those lines), being so gloom and doom lately. I truly do have much to be thankful for, but I seem to make things so much harder for myself (and others) than need be.

Two facts I have had to learn, and relearn a few times now - that just so happen to be well known quotes (I’ve always been quite obsessed with quotes and truisms) : are as follows:

2. “Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.” — Tony Robbins

simple, yet to the point, and in my mind, undeniably true.

Also, I haven’t had a therapist for months now (as mine quit working for the co. Wellnite, which I was seeing them through), and I decided the virtual thing just isn’t for me. but. i am seeing a therapist today, so I feel hope. He has been my psychiatrist for close to 3 years now, but I wasn’t made aware that he also does psychotherapy, until recently. I am also extremely lucky to have immense love, and support from my wonderful partner, (I’m also a “stepmom” to an adorable, sassy longhaired chihuahua, and the sweetest, zoomiest, emerald-eyed black cat that I’ve ever met.) as well as some of my family, + best friend. 🤍

ive been screwing around with @violant-apologia's item template again, so behold! scoundrel-themed items! specifically a weapon, a home comfort, and yet another weapon. because there's very little else that last one can be, especially considering how much psychic damage it inflicts on everyone in its immediate vicinity.

Aracnist's UDIMO

There's not many conversations about it and what people mostly chalk their UDIMO (animal/item suitcase form) up to is that it represents the arcanist as a person. Like symbolism to their personality.

But I also like how it also reflect how they're raised and what their upbringing is like.

The main ones being people raised under the Foundation, or taken it at a young impressionable age, are all dog UDIMOs. Sonetto, Horrorpedia, Medicine Pocket. Arcanists that are likely taken in by the Foundation before their arcanum has fully manifested. They're all dog UDIMOs so far. (It could as be a jab at Pavlov reference to having experimented on mainly dogs, which is fucked up) And even arcanists like X is a lil lab rat UDIMO.

I find it fascinating that UDIMO has so much more symbolism to them than just their nature as a person, but also reflects their upbringing and overall viewed by a greater narrative.

You ever randomly get sad by realizing that the people on No Man’s Land are probably missing a lot of the human experience and how most of it is connected to earth?

They’re never going to know what rainstorms are like, or the smell that lingers in the grass after it’s over.

They’ll never know what it’s like to hear cicadas or frogs croaking near a lake at night.

Earth has so many colors, so many animals, and so much flora. Even though they have the geodomes, they’re merely a fraction of what the planet had to offer.

But they’ll never know.

clark choosing to not fight (definitely for a more valid reason than achilles istg) but people needing the HOPE he represents. so bruce adorns his armor and will gladly die in his place.

and despite his sacrifice, it only prolongs his lover’s suffering until his life too, is cut short.

they should not have let me read the iliad in middle school. that probably would have made me a better developed person.

i finally went through ds re:coded (i didn't actually play it bc platforming brings me to tears, i just watched a playthrough) and this game really doesn't deserve the terrible reputation it has...

it's especially a shame that ppl only have the cutscene movie cause it's actually really mechanically wacky and creative. like it's an action platformer. then suddenly it's a turnbased rpg? in the final hour it's a adv visual novel?? it's constantly throwing something new at you.

and like, yeah it doesn't have much in the way of major plot progression or lore, but i still find its story fairly interesting and charming. in some ways it feels most like a glimpse at the post-kh3 trajectory of the narrative?

anyways, it's actually something of a sora character study, through the lens of a sora that never went through the interpersonal betrayals the real sora has (primarily kh1). we see a sora that's never been told to repress his sadness, a sora that's never had donald and goofy leave him behind cause he lost the keyblade, a sora that's never had riku become so cruel to him.

and because data-sora didn't experience these things+had good support network throughout the narrative, he's like. a lot psychologically healthier. most noticeable in contrast to the real sora.

and in the final act of the game, data-sora learns how to do something the real sora still hasn't: face his own pain, and accept it.

i would not be surprised if in the future sora's arc involves actually learning how to deal with the shit he's been through and talk to his friends about it

kingdom hearts has always had a strong throughline of how people/things being "fake" does not mean they don't matter. from replicas to nobodies and sora's memories of namine.

like data-sora isn't real, he's just a piece of programming. but he develops a real heart, and a real keyblade, through the emotional connections formed between him and data riku and the real mickey donald and goofy.

in this way, i find coded in particular to really feel metatextual, and reminiscent of the relationship you have with a narrative (though specifically video games here). like sora from kingdom hearts isn't real, but does he not inspire real emotion from us? do we not find ourselves invested in his story, even though it's fake?

i really think it's likely that the quadratum unreality stuff will continue to follow that line of thought.

kingdom hearts is just video games, but it's also real. because we love it ❤️

i'm just. taking a break from work and thinking about the fact that it's been almost two years since the c2 finale and that campaign still has me in a chokehold. i still think about the wizards all the time, which shouldn't surprise anyone but it's still remarkable. just taking a little moment to be in my feelings about them on main, nothing to see here
