Remember when Chump said that covid would be gone by Easter 2020?
1. Morning in America
Without irony or embarrassment, Elise Stefanik asks, “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?”
And then Stefanik claims that the answer is “A resounding no.”
AYFKM?
Let’s do this. And I mean, let’s really forking do it.
First, let’s start with the baseline. What was it like four years ago?
At this point in 2020, a few hundred Americans were dying every day from COVID. By April 2020 that number would be over 2,000 dead per day.

i like how we all collectively agreed that covid does not exist in any of our sims stories
#i'm just thinking about the weirdness of media that came out from 2020 through like... 2022#even in shows that didn't address covid you can just feel its presence and the show immediately feels dated#the lack of extras in the background... or all the extras are wearing masks but the main characters aren't... toilet paper jokes......#anyway it made me realize none of us attempted it even if our timelines are true to life in every other way#to me it almost feels like it would be disrespectful to write about? but i don't know why because it's just an illness#i write about all kinds of illnesses and death#it just feels different for some reason#dude i just remembered frank gallagher on shameless died of covid........#they made their main character die from a disease that didn't even exist on earth when the show began#is that wild to anyone else#idk i just find it so fascinating how all types of writers chose to handle covid in their work and that includes sim stories

Evan 'Buck' Buckley: Life So Far
So, I used my 9-1-1 timeline to make a timeline of Buck's life so far!
Please know that I may be a month or two out in some situations - I had to make some assumptions here and there and the 9-1-1 timeline is also just.. interesting at times (lmao). If you have any questions feel free to ask!
(Also sorry if I missed anything/made any mistakes, I tried to include everything and have checked it over many times but I know that as soon as I post it, I’m bound to notice something I did wrong rip)

#i was thinking of also making a buddie specific one with all of their key moments#this show's timeline is my enemy at some points#like wdym buck and abby knew each other for 2 months and then buck waited for her for EIGHT MONTHS??#and how season 3 ended in may 2020 but then season 4 made the march 2020 covid lockdown canon??#like it's just so?????#evan buckley#911 abc#911#evan buckley timeline#911 timeline

So you’re telling me, catalyst of the entire cannibal cult Lottie, big plot twist of the end of season one Lottie, vehicle of most of our foreshadowing and supernatural/psychosis metaphor Lottie, lynch pin of the teams struggles with the wilderness Lottie, most interesting almost oppositional adult character who is actually deeply sincere Lottie, the crux and answer to whether or not the spooks are just mass hysteria Lottie, big potential for REAL investigation into the adult versions of the characters Lottie by acting as an antagonist to them emotionally, the only reason I find the adult timeline remotely reasonable to watch (I’m so tired of the “who is out to get us??” Plot line) Lottie…
Is dead.
And not just dead.
Dead. Off. Screen.
Dead! Off. Screen!
Unceremoniously.
Nobody LIKED her!!! And she’s what??? The new Travis???? The new character whose death propels the girls into new issues??? But NAT already DIED. And that wasn’t even the original plan for Nat!!
So WHY. Kill LOTTIE.
Like.
Ughhhh.
And it wasn’t satisfying. I’m all for killing off fav characters for tragic narratives but it doesn’t feel tragic I feel blindsided.
The poor actress. I was so looking forward to her being a central part of the group.
#listen ppl don’t wanna hear it#but the writers clearly have little to no plan for the adult timeline#like I thought their lives would get MORE supernatural#I don’t care if it’s real or not#it’s about the imagery#the suspense#the drama#the what if#and it’s been so boringly secular since s2#I said to myself maybe it was bc of COVID#but fuck me#yellowjackets#yellowjackets spoilers

Are you better off than you were four years ago?
March 19: Trump declares drug a 'game changer'
As parts of the country start shutting down in an effort to curb virus spread, Trump announces the FDA will fast-track approval of unproven coronavirus treatments, including chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.
"The nice part is, it's been around for a long time, so we know that if it -- if things don't go as planned, it's not going to kill anybody," Trump says at a task force briefing.
March 20: Trump banks on 'a feeling' as Fauci calls evidence 'anecdotal'
Director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci says, "the answer is no" when asked at a task force briefing if hydroxychloroquine is an effective coronavirus treatment, explaining signs of the drug's promise were purely "anecdotal evidence."
"But I'm a big fan, and we'll see what happens," Trump steps forward to add. "I feel good about it. That's all it is, just a feeling, you know."
March 21: Trump cites success of small French study, publisher later says data 'did not meet its standards'
Trump tweets to his roughly 84 million followers that hydroxychloroquine taken with the antibiotic azithromycin could be "one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine" and should "be put in use immediately."
March 24: Arizona man dies after ingesting non-medication chloroquine
A man in Arizona dies after ingesting a form of chloroquine used to clean fish tanks in an apparent attempt to self-medicate for the coronavirus, according to hospital system Banner Health.
The man's wife, who says they learned of chloroquine's connection to coronavirus during one of Trump's press conferences, tells NBC News they took it because they "were afraid of getting sick."
March 28: CDC distributes a Health Alert Network warning against using chloroquine phosphate
CDC distributes a Health Alert Network (HAN) warning against using chloroquine phosphate without the recommendation of a doctor or pharmacy after one person is made seriously ill and a second dies from ingesting non-pharmaceutical chloroquine phosphate (a chemical aquariums use that is commercially available for purchase at stores or online) to prevent or treat COVID-19.
April 5: Trump on hydroxychloroquine: 'What really do we have to lose?'
"If it works, that would be great," he adds. "But it doesn't kill people."
April 9: NIH begins clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine
April 13: Study in Brazil linking hydroxychloroquine to fatal heart problems makes headlines
April 22: Vaccine chief ousted
The head of the federal agency charged with overseeing the rapid production of a coronavirus vaccine says he's removed from his post after trying to push back on problems he saw infecting the federal response, including being handed "misguided directives" to push the drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.

I'm testing negative still as of yesterday afternoon, but someone else in my household for sure has covid and I'm coughing so bad I keep choking for air, so suffice it to say, I probably finally got it after 5 years. Five years! We were so careful for five years. Anyways, today, instead of just sleeping and attempting to breathe, I had to set 6 alarms to wake up so I could send an email before noon so I wasn't fired. Anyways, that's how my Tuesday is going 🙃

If anyone's ever distressed over the current situation in doth just remember that in the canon storyline, they're getting invaded by aliens right about now.
#okay it's hard to judge timelines in cartoons because characters rarely change clothes and the backgrounds don't shift#plus the boys run around naked unless it's literally snowing out so they're not a great indicator#but it looks like it's still warm and there's plenty of tourists#and april's started her college classes#which would put the movie at the end of august/early september#unless april is taking summer classes#though i'd still put it at the end of summer considering she gets out of class when it's dark outside#in june that's like 10 pm#which i mean night classes are a thing but they rarely go THAT late#oh and the movie canonically took place in 2020#i guess a parallel 2020 where covid didn't destroy society

turns out it wasn't covid but actually strep throat that killed my kidneys (by attacking kidneys/an immune system most likely already weakened by covid)
#:)#this means i can trace this all back to an exact two week period in autumn 2023#at the time i thought it was covid from starting uni#but was actually strep throat my dad brought in from work#(he got it because in 2023 the m*litary used his kitchen to feed mistreated diseased ukrainian conscripts shipped over to the local base)#(and because those guys were treated like absolute dogs they ended up spreading pretty nasty illnesses everywhere)#(there was a strep outbreak that put the camp in lockdown around halloween '23 so the timeline works out)#HOWEVER i did actually Post Thru it and got sick myself on october 5 2023#so in an insanely evil funny coincidence my kidneys got gouged and killed on umineko day............#i was making jokes about witch hexes meanwhile my organs were literally exploding#pochapal did NOT survive either the russia/ukraine war of 2022 OR the rokkenjima massacre of 1986. sad!
