i’m so disappointed in noah dear god. putting his stance on the conflict aside, why on earth is he making jokes about it??

it doesn’t matter that he’s jewish, why is he making jokes about people being murdered? because that’s the reality, this is a war. people get murdered every day. in MASS numbers. making jokes about a literal genocide isn’t funny. it should not be posted with a laughter on social media.

another thing, putting around stickers like this as a white rich american is an incredibly privileged behaviour and i can’t believe he did it. he has a platform, has fans, many of them young and impressionable. making jokes about something that gets thousands of people killed weekly, especially from his stance of being nowhere near the danger of being killed in the middle of this war is just plain tone deaf.

i don’t know what i’ll do with this account, i might be less active and just take a break for a while because i’m just. i don’t know. i didn’t expect him to be this tone deaf. and i’m still hyperfixated on byler and stranger things so i don’t know. anyway war jokes aren’t funny and i can’t believe not everyone agrees.

You should never, ever get all your news from a single source.

You should never, ever be so dependant on a social media app that when it gets cut off, you cry and feel devastated, and cut off from your community, like your life just ended.

You should, in fact, fact check.

You should be able to search for news and have a critical thinking skill.

You should have any other ways to feel happiness and a sense of belonging to the world than a single social media app.

You should have a life beside that one social media app. it doesn't have to be grand. You can have a hobby. Any hobby. But, for your own benefit, you should find something else to do, beside that one social media app.

That kind of dependency on social media is simply not good for you and your mental health.

something about the tiktok ban that i haven't really seen people here talking about is the experience of tiktok users not from the usa, which was, as far as i can tell, on the whole, very positive. it was actually really nice to, for a short period of time, be on a major social media network and able to interact with people across the world without usamericans constantly inserting themselves into every conversation.

usamericans kind of take over people's fyp regardless of where you're from. this is partly to do with the fact that the creators fund is only available to usamericans so most of the shitty content farms are from the us. then there's also the cultural aspect of the fact that being a citizen of the most powerful empire in the world is a significant privilege, and also a privilege that 99% of usamericans are seemingly unable to acknowledge, plus the us centrism and exceptionalism, plus the constant need to cast themselves as the underdog, and, well. it's annoying.

so, like. everything of what i've seen (which is not to say that other opinions don't exist, just that i haven't seen them) is that it was really nice when the usamericans were gone, and it kind of sucks that they're back.

communists who worry about being called for jury duty are kinda baffling to me bc you can always just push for a not guilty no matter what. aside from the right to jury nullification, afaik (as in i know it to be the case here and i think it's this way generally) it is a general principle of the concept of a jury that jury deliberations are secret so any rules on how you come to your verdict are very hard to enforce anyway. and worst case scenario if it's a situation where you cannot bring yourself to push for a not guilty, you can simply (truthfully) tell the judge you would never convict anyone and they'll let you go. shrimple as. like under no circumstances would you be obligated to convict someone...

i think jury service is the one part of bourgeois democracy communists absolutely should not boycott tbh just because the presence of one principled communist on a jury of only 12 people absolutely can be the difference between a guilty and not guilty verdict. like you can very directly stop a person from going to prison.
