Researchers have discovered a new species of rove beetle that grows a termite puppet on its back to fool real termites into feeding it. The replica is so precise, it even mirrors the termites’ distinct body segments and has three pairs of pseudo-appendages that resemble antennae and legs.

The new beetle species (Austrospirachtha carrijoi)—found beneath the soil in Australia’s Northern Territory—emulates a termite by enlarging its abdomen, a phenomenon known as physogastry. Evolution has reshaped this body part into a highly realistic replica of a termite (as seen above), head and all, which rides on top of the rest of the beetle’s body. The beetle’s real, much smaller head peeks out from beneath its termite disguise, the authors report this month in the journal Zootaxa. The termite “puppet” may help the beetle evade detection—though termites are blind, they sense one another through touch.

Because A. carrijoi’s mouth parts are tiny, the authors think it begs food from its hosts rather than eating eggs or larvae. Worker termites feed other castes digested food in a process called trophallaxis. This adaptation has obvious advantages to the beetle. Once it is inside the nest, it can relax and spend the rest of its life living off of termite room service.

Eliot Spencer is a method actor.

His high school drama teacher was also a method actor and promoted method acting above the other kinds. Eliot never really paid attention in drama class but, as with all other practical things that he tries, he had a natural affinity for acting.

Fast forward to his time with the Leverage team. We start getting episodes like The Three Strikes Job, where Eliot becomes so immersed in his role that he can't possibly imagine leaving that role when the con demands, only when his character and his character's team are at an acceptable place to have him leave.

Sophie sees all of this. She's stunned and a little annoyed by his natural talent, but can see that Eliot doesn't even realise what he's got going on. So she subtly starts to refine his skills, dropping acting tips here and there that she knows he will soak up like a sponge - whether he wants to or not. And it works. His cons get better, more believable. But the times he ditches Leverage to stick with his role and help an underdog team also increases, much to everyone's bemusement.

Just. Eliot is a method actor. But he's totally oblivious to that fact, and I love it.

i like how nate refers to sophie as "soph" practically from the beginning of leverage. they’ve technically always been on opposing sides, nate’s aware "sophie devereaux" is a fake name, they’re currently in an awkward and often tense place in their relationship… and yet he can’t help but call her by a nickname. it’s just habit - another tiny indication of his affection for her. i love that even as they’re both still figuring out their relationship, they also quickly fall into this strange little rhythm as though they’ve been together for years.

Kuroshitsuji AU where the Phantomhive massacre never happened; Ciel did grow up to be a priest in the Phantomhive territory just as his twin brother wanted, and he kept having to exorcise demons from the body of a man named Sebastian.

Sebastian is a very attractive man—and a very successful toy store owner too; just like Ciel’s childhood dream, isn’t that such a coincidence? He’s very kind to Ciel—probably out of gratefulness for helping him—and Ciel quickly finds himself falling in love and sharing a special connection with the man, it’s just a shame that Sebastian seems to keep getting possessed by demons way too often than people normally do, doesn’t he? It’s like he just gets repossessed by demons as an excuse to keep seeing the little priest.
