Apparently there really was a Sir Thomas Lipton who founded Lipton's Tea. Here he is with the crew of the Shamrock IV at Morse's Dry Dock, Brooklyn, in preparation for the 1920 America's Cup race. (He lost.)

which is the most underrated couple from Horizon and why is aloy x alva?
Tumblr media
Look. LOOK. I love them okay. I know it's all been "Aloy sees an equal in Seyka" but she absolutely saw that in Alva first. Alva is really the first person Aloy has met who is on her level as a scientist: She not only wants to learn new things, she then updates beliefs to include what she learns (rather than cling to what traditions she has been brought up with like most people Aloy meets). She wants to keep learning even when it scares her.
She clearly adores Alva and their interaction in this scene in particular shows that. I also love that the interaction in this scene was used again with Seyka with the same intonation:

Big thanks to whoever decided to do another poll about these two shows that absolutely left this site in shambles last time. I really needed this laugh first thing on a Monday.

just read that Empire article with wesley and am both surprised and pleased he seems genuinely thoughtful and on-point with where TOS kirk would be on his character journey during the snw timeline

OOPS - this is NOT good news.
Carbon fibre is not very forgiving…And a crane failure sounds very unlikely….
If I was ETNZ, I’d be opening an investigation asap..
This may put them out of the rest of the round robins…
Fingers crossed, the damage is minor.

"WINS EXCITING VANCOUVER YACHT RACE," Vancouver Sun. May 25, 1934. Page 1. ---- THE VIREO AND A TENSE MOMENT ---- This was the type of boat which yesterday had the most fun in the opening regatta of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in English Bay.
A heavy wind made the water of the Bay particularly rough and the going was exciting for these smaller members of the fleet,
The Vireo, owned by Douglas McLeod, won the X Class Race yesterday.
The Islander, owned by W. Randall, capsized during a squall, sending its crew into the choppy water.
Other boats racing in the vicinity rescued the crew who suffered little more than a soaking.

I know, evil Google, all my data is theirs, but on my Pixel, when somebody calls, the phone sometimes already marks some numbers as potential scams. It also gives you the option to screen the call.
Which means the Google Assistant picks up the call for me and I can watch a live chat transcript of my phone asking the caller to state their name and business and I can read what the caller's reply is live.
After which I can pick up, hang up, or mark them as a scam caller, without needing to speak to them.
Never had an iphone, so I don't know if Siri does this for you too, but it's definitely the first android phone I have with this feature.
Google, you make my life so convenient, I wish you were less evil...
